Abstract: This research is semi-empirical study which is done to examining the effectiveness of family trainings and life skills on Caring Chronic Mental Disorders in Mashhad (Iran). 300 participants has been chosen in randomly from the families of chronic mental disorders who has been admitted in round the clock centers in Mashhad and who had been in waiting list and these participants has been divided to two groups of experiment and control randomly and we introduce family trainings and life skills to experiment group. There was no training to control group. These two groups were tested period to the beginning of trainings and post training with instruments such as California Social Adjustment Questionnaire; Families’ Attitude and Awareness about Life Skills and Family Trainings; Rosenberg Self-Esteem; General Health Questionnaire;and Symptom Checklist-90-Revised. Results indicated that training had no effect on the attitude of families toward taking care of mental disorder, but family member،s attitude toward mental disorder has been changed. This training has been influential on changing family member،s attitude toward life skills, social adjustment, self esteem, mental health increase and reducing mental disorders. Efectividad de un entrenamiento familiar y de la habilidades de la vida en el cudidad de pacientes crónicos con enfermedad mental en una población iraní. Resumen:La presente investigación es un estudio cuasi-experimental para evaluar la efectividad de un entrenamiento en habilidades en el cuidado del trastorno mental grave en Mashhad (Irán). 300 participantes han sido seleccionados de forma aleatoria entre los familiares de trastornos mentales crónicos admitidos en los centros de Mashhad y que había estado en la lista de espera. Estos participantes han sido divididos en dos grupos, experimental y control, introduciendo el entrenamiento en familia y de habilidades para la vida en el grupo experimental. No hubo ningún entrenamiento en el grupo control. Estos dos grupos fueron evaluados al inicio y final del entrenamiento con instrumentos como el Cuestionario de Ajuste Social de California, Actitud de las Familias y Reconocimiento sobre Habilidades de la Vida y Entrenamiento Familiar; Autoestima de Rosenberg; Cuestionario General de Salud; y Listado de 90 Síntomas Revisado. Los resultados indicaron que el entrenamiento no tuvo efecto en la actitud de las familias sobre el cuidado de los trastornos mentales, pero la actitud hacia la enfermedad mental ha cambiado. Este entrenamiento ha sido muy influyente en el cambio familiar en las actitudes hacia las habilidades de la vida, el ajuste social, autoestima, el incremento de la salud mental y la reducción de los trastornos mentales.

The current research was conducted with the aim of the efficacy of training life skills on the Payame Noor students' self esteem, Saghez branch. The research population includes all the Payame Noor students, Saghez branch who were studying in the educational year of 2013-2014. In this research 40 students were selected through the random sampling method available as the research sample volume. From among this number, 20 students were selected through the random sampling method available as the research sample volume who was participating in the educational workshop of life skills and 20 more students were also chosen as the control group. The method applied in this research is semi empirical with two groups of experiment and control. The experiment group was placed under 8, 120 minute sessions of training life skills. To collect data the 58 item Cooper Smith questionnaire was used. To analyze data, the descriptive statistics (Average, standard deviation,…) as well as inferential statistics (covariance analysis) were applied. Results indicated that the average self esteem scores in the experimental group posttest is higher than that of the posttest in the control group.

Past research showed that social networking sites represent perfect platforms to satisfy narcissistic needs. The present study aimed to investigate how grandiose (GN) and vulnerable narcissism (VN) as well as social comparisons are associated with Facebook activity, which was measured with a self-report on three activity dimensions: Acting, Impressing, and Watching. In addition, the state self-esteem (SSE) was measured with respect to performance, social behavior, and appearance. One hundred and ten participants completed an online survey containing measures of SSE and Facebook activity and a priming procedure with three experimental conditions embedded in a social media context (upward comparison, downward comparison, and control group). Results indicated, as expected, that high VN was negatively associated with SSE on each subscale and the overall score. In addition, it was found that VN, but not GN, displayed positive associations with frequency of Facebook activities. Finally, it was proposed and confirmed that VN in interaction with the priming of downward comparisons negatively affected SSE. The conclusion drawn is that VN represents a key variable for the prediction of self-esteem as well as for the frequency of Facebook activity.

The hypothesis of a low self-esteem in depressive patients was tested using the Rosenberg Self-Esteem Scale in 24 recovered unipolar and 27 recovered bipolar patients, compared with a normal control group of 26 subjects matched for age and sex. The hypothesis was confirmed only for unipolars; bipolar patients presented a self-esteem score not significantly different from normal scores. Self-esteem was not related to clinical characteristics of the affective disorder, suggesting that low self-esteem may be a basic component of a depression-prone personality. The investigation of the relationship between self-esteem and social adjustment confirmed the presence of social conformism in bipolar patients and rigidly set low self-esteem in unipolar patients. These results should stimulate the evaluation of different psychotherapeutic treatments in the long-term psychosocial management of affectively ill patients.

The aim of this study was to identify the effectiveness of teaching role playing strategy in developing dialogue skills in the immortal language of the intermediate third grade students. To achieve the objectives of the study, the researcher used the semi-experimental method by designing the two equal groups. The sample contains 51 students, 26 students for the control group and 25 students for the experimental group. The researcher used the statistical treatments using the SPSS program, The study has resulted in The results showed that the level of dialogue skills on the student scale among the average third-grade students in the experimental and control groups was medium. The mean of the two groups was on all dialogue skills (2.23). The skill of expressing the opinion is one of the most common dialogue skills, (2.25), while the skill of listening and listening is second, with an average of (2.24), followed by self-esteem in third place with an average of 2.23. Finally, ). In addition, there were statistically significant differences at the level of α 0.05 0.05 in post-performance in all dialogue skills (self-esteem, good listening and listening, respect for others, expression of opinion). In the light of its findings, the researcher made a number of recommendations.

The purpose of this study is to examine the effect of assertiveness techniquestraining to improve bullying victims’ self-esteem. This study was a quasi experiment withuntreated control group with pre-test and double post-test design. The data werecollected by using adaptation instrument of Peer Interactions in Primary School (PIPS)Questionnaire, assertiveness scale, and self-esteem scale. The subjects were 18 students in4 th -5 th grade who are indicated as bullying victims and have self-esteem scores categorizedin low to moderate levels (8 students in experimental group and 10 students in controlgroup). The result of the Mann Whitney U test showed that there was no difference inself-esteem scores between the experimental and control group during the pretest (p >0.05). After being treated, the differences in self-esteem scores were significant with Z = -3.113; p = 0.002 (p < 0,01) between the experimental group and control group, in which themean score of self-esteem in the experimental group was higher than the control group

Background: Scientific research agrees that parenting, especially during their early childhood years, is one of the greatest influences on children. Early childhood interactions form the basis of brain construction and scientists now realize that the contact between infants with their parents or guardians is a significant component in this brain growth process. Parents who are trained to support the wellbeing and wellbeing of their young child with the awareness and expertise they need. The multi-disciplinary and transnational parenting literature explicitly shows that parents are one of the most important variables in the growth of infants. Aim: The study aim is to assess the effectiveness of positive parenting teaching on the development of self-esteem among primary caregivers of pre-adolescence. Methodology: It is an interventional study and the primary giver of preadolescence are the participants of this study with intervention and control group. The primary giver of preadolescence will be selected as per inclusion and exclusion criteria and the sampling technique will be selected as non-probability convenient sampling technique. Data will be collected by demographic variables of participants and the modified self-esteem scale will be used to assess the self-esteem level of primary caregivers and preadolescence. Sample Size: 100(50-intervention group and 50-control group). Results: For statistical analysis of demographic figures will be going used frequency and mean, mean percentage, standard deviation, descriptive and inferential statistics. Positive parenting teaching may be very effective for the development of self-esteem among primary caregivers of pre-adolescence.  Conclusion: The conclusion will be drawn from the statistical analysis.

目的:探讨团体心理咨询对大学生自尊提升的干预效果以及内在影响机制。方法:招募18 名大学生为研究对象,采用实验组与控制组前后测量的实验设计,实验组接受为期6 周的自尊提升团体心理咨询,使用自尊量表、人际关系综合诊断量表和大五人格量表进行测试。结果:团体心理咨询后,实验组被试的自尊水平提高[(32.67±3.12)vs.(29.33±3.24), p< 0.001],人际关系综合诊断量表总分[(6.62±3.66)vs.(12.00±5.27), p< 0.001] 及人际关系维度分数[(2.11±1.36)vs.(4.00±1.94),p= 0.009] 下降,大五人格问卷外倾性[(3.51±0.31)vs.(3.30±0.41) ,p= 0.002] 与责任心[(3.65±0.34)vs.(3.43±0.35) ,p= 0.026] 分数提高。结论:团体心理咨询对大学生自尊提升的干预有效,这一干预效应存在潜在的长期效应,其内在机制可能是人际关系困扰的降低;自尊提升能够内化成为个体人格外倾性的一部分。 Objectives: This study is focused on a six-week group psychological guidance to enhance self-esteem and to explore its intrinsic mechanism. Methods:Totally 18 students were randomly assigned to one of two group: experimental group(n=9) and control group(n=9). The experimental group received six-week training program to enhance self-esteem, as compared as control group who received only baseline and post-six-week measurement which included the self-esteem scale,the interpersonal relationship comprehensive diagnosis scale, and the Big Five personality scale. Results: After the training program, the experimental group’s selfesteem was improved [(32.67±3.12)vs.(29.33±3.24)], total score[(6.62±3.66)vs.(12.00±5.27)] and inter-personal communication[(2.11±1.36) vs.(4.00±1.94)] score of the interpersonal relationship comprehensive diagnosisscale were declined, and score of extraversion[(3.51±0.31)vs.(3.30±0.41)] and conscientiousness[(3.65±0.34)vs.(3.43±0.35)] were increased. Conclusion: It proves that group psychological guidance could enhance students’ self-esteem for a long time, and self-esteem could be a part of personality. The most important is that the improvement of relationship skills could explain why group psychological guidance could enhance self-esteem.

Abstract Background 22q11DS is the most important genetic risk factor for schizophrenia: up to 28% of these subjects develop psychosis in adulthood. At present this syndrome represents the strongest biological model to investigate neurobiological underpinnings of schizophrenia. We expected Theory of Mind impairments in subjects at risk for psychosis (22q11DS) and more severe impairments in subjects with an established psychotic disorder. Furthermore we sought to investigate eventual correlations between social cognition and self-esteem levels, hypothesizing that both would be impaired in psychotic groups. Methods Data come from Italian Network for Research on Psychoses for the Schizophrenic (SCZ, N=260) and Control groups (HC, N=111). 22q11DS psychotic (22q11DS_SCZ, N=17) and non-psychotic patients (22q11DS, N=46) were enrolled at Policlinico Umberto I, in Rome. The Awareness and Social Inference Test (TASIT) and Self-Esteem Rating Scale (SERS) were administered. Results The three main TASIT variables, Emotion Recognition, Minimal Social Inference and Enriched Social Inference, showed no different scores between the three clinical groups, which were significantly lower respect to the control group. The SERS total score showed no significant differences between clinical groups but was for all three significantly lower than control group score. No significant correlation was observed between SERS and TASIT scores for clinical groups. Discussion Social Cognition impairments are present in 22q11DS at the same extent as in idiopathic schizophrenia, and thus they represent an endophenotype of psychosis. A low Self-Esteem, even though associated to psychosis, does not affect neurocognitive process, impaired on a neurobiological basis.

Abstract Background Assortative mating is common in patients with mental disorders, both for specific disorders and across the spectrum of mental disorders. Assortative mating may play a key role in mental disorders because the person with the close relation to an individual with a mental disorder is also likely to have mental disorders, poorer cognitive abilities or lower social functioning, which may further intensify problems for both partners and their offspring. When one parent is ill, the care for the child will often depend on the other parent. Thus, assortative mating will most likely contribute to outcomes in the offspring. Therefore, the objective of this study was to investigate possible diagnoses of a mental illness, cognitive ability and social functioning in individuals who have biological children by partners with schizophrenia or bipolar disorder. Further, we also aimed to explore differences in polygenic risk scores derived from genome-wide association studies for schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, and depression. Methods This study was based on data from The Danish High Risk and Resilience Study - VIA7, a population-based cohort study conducted in Denmark between 2013 and 2016. Subjects were identified through the Danish Civil registration System and the Danish Psychiatric Central Research register. The VIA7 cohort consists of 522 children aged 7 years with parents diagnosed with schizophrenia or bipolar disorder in the Danish registries (index parents) and their partners (non-index parents). This study focuses on the non-index parents (N = 492) without schizophrenia or bipolar disorder in the Danish registries. All participants were interviewed with a diagnostic interview (SCAN 2.0). Main outcomes were intelligence, processing speed, verbal working memory, and social functioning. A linear mixed effect model was applied for each of the outcomes, including parent status (index parent or non-index parent), group (schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, and control), and interaction between parent status and group. Results Non-index parents having children by a partner with schizophrenia or bipolar disorder more often fulfilled the criteria for a mental disorder compared to non-index parents in the control group. Non-index parents having children by a partner with schizophrenia or bipolar disorder had lower levels of social functioning compared to non-index parents in the control group and performed poorer on intelligence and processing speed. Discussion Individuals who have children by partners with schizophrenia or bipolar disorder are more likely to have a mental disorder and to have lower levels of cognitive and social functioning compared to individuals who have children by partners without schizophrenia or bipolar disorder. Assortative mating may have important implications for our understanding of the familial transmission of these disorders. The findings presented in this study should be considered in future genetic research in psychiatry, specifically in the investigation of potential risk factors for children with a parent with schizophrenia or bipolar disorder.

Spinal cord injury (SCI) is one of the most debilitating diseases that affects all aspects of person’s life. Researches have indicated that life satisfaction in these patients is lower than that of others. The aim of this study was to investigate the effect of life skills training on life satisfaction in patient with spinal cord injury. This study, having a quasi-experimental design, was performed with pre-test, post-test, and control group. The statistical population of this study consisted of patients with spinal cord injury (only men) that is covered by the home health care team of the Kahrizak Charity Foundation of Tehran. To do research, 30 patients of the center were selected by availability sampling and were randomly divided into experimental and control groups. In the experimental group, 10 sections of life skills training were performed, while no intervention was used for the control group. The research tool used in this study was a Self-Life Satisfaction Questionnaire and a univariate analysis of covariance was used to test results. Findings from the analysis of covariance showed that there was a significant difference between experimental and control groups (p&lt; 0,05). This indicated that life skills training improved the life satisfaction in patients with spinal cord injury.
