Lycopene is a well-known compound found commonly in tomatoes which brings wide range of health benefits against cardiovascular diseases and cancers. From an anti-cancer perspective, lycopene is often associated with reduced risk of prostate cancer and people often look for it as a dietary supplement which may help to prevent cancer. Previous scientific evidence exhibited that the anti-cancer activity of lycopene relies on its ability to suppress oncogene expressions and induce proapoptotic pathways. To further explore the real potential of lycopene in cancer prevention, this review discusses the new insights and perspectives on the anti-cancer activities of lycopene which could help to drive new direction for research. The relationship between inflammation and cancer is being highlighted, whereby lycopene suppresses cancer via resolution of inflammation are also discussed herein. The immune system was found to be a part of the anti-cancer system of lycopene as it modulates immune cells to suppress tumor growth and progression. Lycopene, which is under the family of carotenoids, was found to play special role in suppressing lung cancer.

Background/Aims: Paclitaxel (PTX) is one of the most effective anti-cancer drugs. However, multiple drug resistance is still the main factor that hinders the effective treatment of cancer with PTX. Several factors including YAP over-expression can cause PTX resistance. In this study, we aimed to verify the role YAP plays in PTX resistance, explore the reversal of PTX resistance by verteporfin (VP) and investigate the effect of combination therapy of PTX and VP on the PTX resistant colon cancer cells (HCT-8/T). Methods: To study the relationship between YAP and PTX resistance, a stable YAP-over-expression or YAP silencing cell line was generated by transfected with YAP-plasmids or siYAP-RNA. WST-1 assay was performed to detect the cytotoxicity of PTX on HCT-8 and HCT-8/T cells. Clone formation assay and Transwell assay was preformed to determine the cell proliferation and invasion ability respectively. Immunofluorescence and Western blot analysis was performed for protein detection. Results: YAP was stronger expressed in HCT-8/T than in HCT-8, and PTX resistance was positively correlated with the level of YAP expression. VP, a strongly YAP inhibitor, could reduce the PTX resistance on HCT-8/T cells without light activation by inhibiting YAP. Beside, VP and PTX combination therapy showed synergism on inhibition of YAP and cytotoxicity to HCT-8/T. Moreover, verteporfin and PTX combination therapy affect the invasion and colony formation ability and induce apoptosis of HCT-8/T cells. Conclusions: VP can reverse the PTX resistance induced by YAP over-expression in HCT-8/T cells without photoactivation through inhibiting YAP expression.

Put call parity is a theoretical no-arbitrage condition linking a call option price to a put option price written on the same stock or index. This study finds that Put call parity violations are quite symmetric over the whole sample. However during the ban period 2008 in the U.S., puts are significantly and economically overpriced relative to calls. Some possible explanations are the short selling restriction, momentum trading behaviour and the changes in supply and demand of puts over the short ban. One interesting finding that the relationship between time to expiry, put call parity deviations and returns on the index is highly non-linear. Key word: Put-call parity, SPX, short ban 2008 .

The dissolution enthalpy of Cisplatin and Etoposide in the appropriate solvent were measured by RD496-2000 microcalorimeter under the conditions of atmospheric pressure and 309.65 K. The differential heat and the integral heat of the process are obtained, thereby establishing the relationship between the heat and the amount of solute, knowing that the dissolution process is the pseudo-first order reaction. In turn, the half-life, △solHm, △solGm, △solSm are also can obtained.

This article dealt with the relationship between education and youth worship in Protestant contexts in the Netherlands. Consequently, it dealt with the relation between Liturgical and Educational Studies. Our interest in the research project on youth worship in Protestant contexts centred on the question: How do young people, in a late-modern context, participate in youth worship? In our qualitative research, it appeared that ‘learning’ is a key word with regard to youth worship. This article discussed the questions: How are youth worship and ‘learning faith’ related? And, what are the qualities of learning faith in youth worship? Empirical results of the research in local youth worship services and national youth worship events were presented. These results concentrated on the dialogical dimension in youth worship gatherings and gave indications about the contents of what adolescents learn in youth worship gatherings. This ‘what’ referred, amongst other aspects, to the important content of ‘rules and freedom’. Respondents often valued and appropriated youth worship along the line of ‘(do not) have to’, with regard to a Christian life style, their relation with God, ethics, and doctrines. Moreover, themes in youth worship gatherings often focused on a specific Christian lifestyle, on its boundaries and its spaces. Some reflections with regard to the question ‘Why is learning faith a dominant element in youth worship?’ were given. The conclusions that the cognitive element is important in youth worship and that the explicit aspect of learning is a main approach in youth worship were discussed in relation to J. Astley’s (1984) theoretical notion that the language of worship is ‘performing non-cognitive’.

The main objective of this research is to know the impact of leadership and employees performance at Ciawi Local Government Clinic of Bogor Municipality.Associative method is research method used to know the relationship or impact between two or more variables. The population of this research is 37 employees. To determine the number of minimum sample, Slovin formula is used. Based on the formula, 27 employees taken as sample. To analyze data, Weight Mean Score and Rank Spearman Correlation are used for hypothetical testing purpose. In this context, H0:ρ = 0, means that there is no positive correlation between leadership and employees performance, and Ha: ρ ≠ 0, means that there is positive correlation between leadership and employees performance. The result of this research show that leadership function by Head of Local Government Clinic is in “pretty good” criteria with mean score of 2,916 (out of 5) and “pretty good” criteria in all of indicator in this variable. Meanwhile, the variable of employees performance is also categorized as “good” criteria with mean score of 3,000 (out of 5). Futhermore, based on Rank Spearman analysis with significance test for n=27 and standar error of 10%, show that Rho 0,368 with “low” criteria. And the significance test t=2,042 > 1,70814, thus, conclusion can be taken that Ho is rejected and Ha is accepted. This mean that there is positive correlation between leadership and employees performance with coefficient of determination 13,5%. In the other words, the research conclusion is the influence of leadership efforts by head of Local Government Clinic is 13,5% and the remaining 86,5% is determined by other factors (epsilon). Key word : Leadership, Performance, employees
