Improvement of information technologies inevitably leads to serious transformations of traditional bibliographic resources. These innovations have fully affected the organization and use of network Union catalogues (UC), the qualitative changes in which have been insufficiently studied and covered in professional publications. The article discusses the possibilities of network UC as a tool for information retrieval. The author compares printed and electronic UC, identifies the features and search potential of each of these forms; summarizes the research conducted in the Scientific Research Department of Bibliography of the Russian State Library (RSL) in the framework of RTD project “Information and bibliographic activity of the libraries in the electronic environment”. The author concludes that network UC as a tool of information retrieval have advantages over printed and local electronic catalogues, because electronic catalogues provide free access to the information placed in them from anywhere in the world. Many network catalogues provide the possibility of their independent use as a search tool, even by untrained users due to the accessible interface of the site, clear navigation and clear instructions. Basing on monitoring data of network UC, the author analyses the obstacles for wide use of network UC in information and bibliographic search, and concludes that for effective search it is required a clear and understandable navigation system on the sites with the provision of broad information on the presence of UC and the ways to search them. The article highlights the necessity to promote the capabilities of network UC and other services, including access to the sources reflected in the catalogues.

The innovative management today is to promote and support organizational strategic goals through the rational use of material, labor and financial resources. The main goal of innovative management in libraries is to build the management system which enables focused search of options, development and implementation of novelties to increase the library’s competitiveness and sustainability and, in its turn, the sustainability of the environment. The specific features of innovations in the library and information sphere are as follows: comparatively rare radical while frequent modernizing innovations; consistency and systemacity (change in any element inevitably changes the library system overall); irreversibility. To assess the value of library innovations, the author suggests to apply the following criteria (characteristics) correlated with the world experience: innovative relevance, financial effectiveness, cultural efficiency, social significance, global sustainability. Each criterion has its own weight while the expertise has to be accomplished within the suggested procedure. This methodology enables to assess the library knowledgeably. It was tested thrice by expert teams – participants in the All-Russia Contest of Library Innovations initiated by the Russian State Library in 2013, 2015, and 2019.

The article analyses the relationship of the copies of the Slavic version of Matthew Blastares’s Syntagma made in the 15th – 17th centuries in the Principality of Moldavia. The author studied haplographies (line omissions) in eight of the eleven surviving copies de visu and by photocopies to determine that, in addition to the monastery of Neamc, Suceava, and Romanesque metropolitans, there was another most important center for copying the Syntagma in the Principality of Moldavia of the 15th-17th centuries in the Putna Monastery, where three direct copies of each subsequent copy from the previous one were created, starting with the original Copy of 1472 (Bucharest, Library of the Academy of Romania, Nr. 131). These are the following manuscripts: Copy of 1474 (Moscow, Russian State Library, Fund 98, Nr. 742); Copy of the early 16th century (Moscow, Russian State Library, Fund 98, Nr. 65); Copy of the last quarter of the 16th century (Moscow, Russian State Library, Fund 178, Nr. 4293). The information about the number of Slavic copies of Matthew Blastares’s Syntagma in the Principality in the 15th – 17th centuries has been adjusted upwards, since some of the surviving copies can be traced back to their Slavic manuscript protographic originals, which have not yet been found in the world depositories or not survived to this day.

Lisyansky during his voyage on the Neva ship and compared with the textual and visual information in the published materials of the participants of the first Russian round-the-world expeditions. Results and discussion. The collections entered the Research Institute and Museum of Anthropology in the 30s and 40s of the XX century from the Museum of Peoples of the USSR - the heir of the Department of Foreign Ethnography of the Moscow Public and Rumyantsev Museum. We discovered and introduced into scientific circulation documents from the Rumyantsev Museum archive that allows to conclude that the collections belong to the first national round - the - world voyages and the oldest part of the ethnographic gathering. They show that this collection includes artefacts of indigenous inhabitants of the islands through which the route of the ship «Neva» under the leadership of Y.F. Lisyansky passed. A comprehensive analysis of the collections and documents confirmed the presence of artifacts received from Y.F. Lisyansky in the ethnographic storage of the Research Institute and Museum of Anthropology of Moscow State University. For the first time, the composition of the collections belonging to the oldest part of our ethnographic collection, originating from the participants of the first Russian circumnavigation, has been published.

In the XXI century, the role of information technologies in the life of society is growing every day. The informatization of society leads to qualitative changes in the field of education. The world requires more and more mobility from a person, therefore, in addition to traditional forms of education, distance learning firmly occupies its position. Distance education acts as one of the social mechanisms that contribute to the adaptation of society to new living conditions. Modern computer telecommunications are able to provide knowledge transfer and access to a variety of sources containing educational information on an equal basis, and sometimes much more effectively than traditional means of teaching.
