The innovative management today is to promote and support organizational strategic goals through the rational use of material, labor and financial resources. The main goal of innovative management in libraries is to build the management system which enables focused search of options, development and implementation of novelties to increase the library’s competitiveness and sustainability and, in its turn, the sustainability of the environment. The specific features of innovations in the library and information sphere are as follows: comparatively rare radical while frequent modernizing innovations; consistency and systemacity (change in any element inevitably changes the library system overall); irreversibility. To assess the value of library innovations, the author suggests to apply the following criteria (characteristics) correlated with the world experience: innovative relevance, financial effectiveness, cultural efficiency, social significance, global sustainability. Each criterion has its own weight while the expertise has to be accomplished within the suggested procedure. This methodology enables to assess the library knowledgeably. It was tested thrice by expert teams – participants in the All-Russia Contest of Library Innovations initiated by the Russian State Library in 2013, 2015, and 2019.

Analysis of theoretical and practical aspects of assessment of innovative activity at national and foreign oil and gas enterprises revealed the necessity of improvement of the existing tools which include the lists of key indicators of efficiency and performance applied within the innovative development programs of the Russian companies. Thereby the authors analyzed national and foreign research paying the most serious attention to theoretical aspects of innovative activity assessment. Among them of greatest interest is the complex approach to application of metrics in scientific and technical development of a company. The authors have also studied the conceptual apparatus and the main terms for the problems under consideration. As a result, the research confirmed the idea that the practice of applying the lists of key indicators of innovative activity in oil and gas industry does not coincide with the results of academic works and the innovative management theory: the current methods are primarily aimed at assessment of the results of innovative activity, several stages of the life cycle of creation of innovation are not subject to monitoring. At the same time lists of key indicators of innovative activity make it possible for the company’s management to estimate economic and resource effects of innovations which corresponds to strategic interests of oil and gas companies.Lists of indicators of efficiency and performance of innovative activity can be improved by means of national and foreign research. It is important to involve more metrics which make it possible to monitor all the life cycle of creation and implementation of innovative solutions. The results of the study can be used as the basis for further research on improvement and development of the lists of key indicators of innovative activity of oil and gas companies.

Social distancing has been the central public health strategy for tackling the coronavirus pandemic worldwide. But the ‘Stay Home, Stay Safe’ order in the United Kingdom and the consequent closure of nurseries and schools also created an unprecedented degree of proximity within households. Based on interviews with mothers of young children in Scotland, this article provides early insight into the ways that mothers manage the forced intimacies of family life under lockdown and the opportunities they create through the innovative management of space and time. The result is a more expansive understanding of the family in contemporary Scotland and a notion of intimacy characterised as much by the necessity of distance and distinction as by proximity and mutuality.
