The study explores differences between Pakistani students from three types of schools regarding religious tolerance, views on gender equality, and bellicose attitudes towards India. A questionnaire was filled in by 285 girls and 300 boys, 15−17 years of age (mean age identical for both = 15.8, SD = 0.8), from three different types of schools (Urdu Medium, English Medium, and Madrassas). Significant differences were found: students attending English Medium schools differed most from other students. They scored highest on religious tolerance and gender equality, and lowest on bellicose attitudes towards India, while students attending Madrassas scored lowest on gender equality. Especially girls from the Madrassas scored lower than all other students on religious tolerance, and highest on bellicose attitudes. Madrassa students experienced themselves as victims of religious intolerance more often than others. Religious tolerance and positive attitudes towards gender equality were highly correlated.

This paper examines the religious content of three Moroccan second year Baccalaureate ELT textbooks. It studies the representation of religion as a cultural perspective in these textbooks to investigate whether they raise Moroccan learners’ awareness of other religions. It is built on the premise that the spread of religious intolerance is fueled by being insufficiently or inappropriately informed about local and foreign religions. It therefore draws the attention of ELT practitioners to recognizing the role ELT textbooks could play in reducing illiteracy about religions and fostering positive attitudes towards other religions. The study evolved within the theoretical framework of the Standards-Based Approach. It adopted a concurrent triangulation design and used mixed content analysis to analyze the data. The findings revealed that the examined textbooks do not sensitize learners about respect for diversity, tolerance and peaceful coexistence among different religions. Ultimately, some ways in which religious antagonism could be minimized are suggested.

This community service activity aims to expose students to understanding the concept of gender and gender equality in order to minimize oppression, discrimination and bullying that mostly occurs against girls. This activity also aims to improve students' understanding of the value of character education and positive attitudes. The partner of this community development are students and teachers of Kranggan Lembur Mandiri Kindergarten, Jatirangga, Jatisampurna District, Bekasi. This community service activity is carried out through the method of assisting story reading, designing syllabus of story reading based on thematic reading, and providing material in the form of children's story books, as well as making children's story telling videos about gender equality, which can be used for students' independent learning. Monitoring and evaluation activities are carried out through observation and interviews. This activity helps improve students' understanding of the role and empowerment of women through education, enrichment of character and positive attitudes on gender justice (can work together, competence, active, empathize, problem solving), improve linguistic competence and visual literacy (recognition of colors and images), and also understanding of cultural literacy through children's stories containing local Indonesian culture and gender perspective.

In Germany there is a huge discrepancy between positive attitudes toward physical activity and actual practice of sport. According to representative studies more than 80% of the population is convinced that for various reasons, especially those of health, it is very important to take up a sport (Kaschuba, 1989). However, only 21% of the male and no more than 14% of the female population (older than 14) were reported to practice a sport at least once a week (Opaschowski, 1995).This article focuses on the question of how a relationship to sport develops in the course of the lives of girls and women. The empirical data derives from a project on “Sport in the Lives of Women” in which women active in football (soccer), gymnastics/aerobics and tennis were interviewed about their biographies and their experience with physical activities. The theoretical background is based on approaches towards life course and biography, gender and gender relations, and socialization. Typical patterns of sport involvement in the different stages of life, e.g. the important role of the parents in early childhood and the importance of peers at school were found.,.In addition, different types of sport commitment could be identified. Certain patterns, for example, were dependent on the combination of the simultaneous practice of different types of sport and the alternation between practice and non-practice of sport. In this way it was possible to distinguish between all-round sportswomen and women who practice sport for reasons of health. In general, sport biographies develop through the close interaction of social factors and individual decisions.

Yvonne Mørch: The Gender Blind Eye of Multiculturalisms. The challenges of diversity and gender equality. The article discusses the tension between different types of rights/rights of recognition as well as different forms of solidarity. The analysis takes its starting point in a question posed by Susan Okin: Is multiculturalism bad for women? The focus, then, is on the relationship between gender equality and the new multicultural challenges. The author stresses the importance of gender sensitivity when negotiating and developing different kinds of multiculturalisms. The aim of the article is to contribute to the development of better analytical tools to be used in our understanding of different processes of transformation taking place in a globalized world.

There is growing evidence to support the relationship between levels of gender inequality in a society and its potential for conflict. Positive attitudes to gender equality in and through education strengthen social cohesion; consequently, there is a need for gender-transformative education for peacebuilding. Drawing on the 4Rs (representation, redistribution, recognition, and reconciliation) framework in conjunction with the idea of incremental transformation with a focus on resilience, this study examines how eleven ethnic minority high school girls from Sri Lanka understand the transformative role of education in their lives as it relates to peace and gender equality. Education was a source of hope for the participants of this study and thus contributed to their resilience. However, rather than fostering and capitalizing on this resilience to build social cohesion and peace, education and the school systems are silencing them. This silencing is evident in the acceptance and normalization of militarization in their communities, daily experiences of gender-based violence (GBV), and the message, through the formal and informal curriculum, that gender equality has been achieved in Sri Lanka.

Using literature review and in-depth analysis, the study is going to examinethe comparative perspective between Islam and the West in addressing twomain public issues, i.e. religious tolerance and gender equality. More specifi-cally, this study will provide the policy, agenda and strategy of Islam and goodgovernance in coping with those two issues. Therefore, the finding of thestudy is that Islam and good governance precisely have no distinctive concept, policies, agendas and strategy. In contrast, both of them obviously agree thatreligious tolerance and gender equality is important for human lifesustainability. The result, Muslim communities have to disseminate the no-tion of the compatibility between Islam and good governance to the world.

SummaryThe plasma tissue factor (TF) concentration was correlated to factor VII concentration (FVIIag) and factor VII activity (FVIIc) in 498 healthy volunteers ranging in age from 17 to 64 years. Immunoassays using monoclonal antibodies (mAbs) were developed for the determination of TF and FVIIag in plasma. The mAbs and the test systems were characterized. The mean value of the TF concentration was 172 ± 135 pg/ml. TF showed no age- and gender-related differences. For the total population, FVIIc, determined by a clotting test, was 110 ± 15% and the factor VIlag was 0.77 ± 0.19 μg/ml. FVII activity was significantly increased with age, whereas the concentration demonstrated no correlation to age in this population. FVII concentration is highly correlated with the activity as measured by clotting assay using rabbit thromboplastin. The ratio between FVIIc and FVIIag was not age-dependent, but demonstrated a significant difference between men and women. Between TF and FVII we could not detect a correlation.
