Utilization of natural resources by the community sometimes does not pay attention to the limits of ability or environmental carrying capacity in the regeneration process for sustainable life cycle, both biologically, physically, ecologically and economically. Optimal and environmentally sound utilization and management of natural resources is required to support the sustainability of natural resources including mangrove forests. Mangrove forest is one type of tropical rainforest located along the coastline of tropical waters. This forest is a transition of terrestrial and marine environment habitat. One of the mangrove forest in West Kalimantan is located on Pulau Padang Tikar Batu Ampar Sub-district of Kubu Raya Regency with mangrove forest area of approximately 58,953 Ha which consists of 11 villages inside the forest. The purpose of this research is to know the types of mangrove vegetation and the utilization of mangrove vegetation by the community in 11 villages of Pulau Padang Tikar. This research uses survey method with interview technique. Numbers of respondents were 10 people from each village (total number 110 respondents) in Pulau Padang Tikar. Results of the research found 20 mangrove vegetation species found in the community and 9 types of mangrove vegetation are used for firewood, building material, charcoal, honey bee cultivation and herbal medicines. The species found were Acanthus ilicifolius, Acrostichum aureum, Avicennia sp. Amyema anisomeres, Bruguiera parviflora, Excoecaria agallocha, Heritiera globosa, Kandelia candel, Lumnitzera littorea, Nypa fruticans, Rhizophora sp., Sonneratia alba, Sonneratia caseolaris, Xylocarpus granatum, Oncosperma tigilarium, Hibiscus tiliaceus, Ipomea pescaprae, Sonneratia sp, Bruguiera cylindrica and Sonneratia ovata back.Keywords:  Batu Ampar, Kubu Raya Regency, mangrove, Pulau Padang Tikar, Utilization

Mangrove forests are unique ecosystems that have ecological, biological and socio-economic functions. The function of mangrove forests on the environment is very important especially in the coastal and oceanic regions. Mangrove forests providers of wood, leaves as raw material for medicines, and natural dye. This study aims to inventory the diversity of species of mangrove vegetation in Mendalok Village, Sungai Kunyit Subdistrict, Mempawah Regency. The benefits of this study are to provide the data on mangrove forest vegetation as basic data for local government and related agencies in efforts to protect and preserve mangrove forests in Mendalok Village, Sungai Kunyit Subdistrict, Mempawah Regency. Inventory the tree in mangrove forest used a line with measured 200 meters. There are 6 lines and the distance between the lines as far as 100 meters. The lines of observation are placed by purposive sampling. The results of research found 11 types of species and consisted of 6 genera. The genera are Avicennia, Bruguiera, Ceriops, Rhizophora, Soneratia and Xylocarpus. The species found were Avicennia alba, Avicennia marina, Bruguiera cylindrica, Bruguiera gymnorrhiza, Bruguiera parviflora, Ceriops decandra, Rhizophora apiculata, Rhizophora mucronata, Rhizophora stylosa, Sonneratia caseolaris, Xylocarpus mollucensis. Diversity of mangrove species in Mendalok Village, Sungai Kunyit Subdistrict, Mempawah Regency was high and should be maintained for conservation and ecotourism area. Mangrove forests, often referred to as mangrove forests, brackish forests or tidal forests, is a transitional ecosystem between land and sea which are tropical or sub-tropical areas along the sheltered coast and river mouth. Mangrove forest is a coastal plant community dominated by several species of mangrove trees that are able to grow and develop during the tides in accordance with their tolerance to salinity, duration of inundation, substrate and beach morphology. Awan Kiri Mangrove Forest has a total area of 114 hectares including the area of Other Management Areas (APL) then seen from the density of the Mangrove Forest only has 92 hectares. This study uses a non-destructive survey method. Vegetation carbon stock calculation is carried out using vegetation biomass calculation approach. Vegetation biomass calculation based on the calculation of allometric equations. Calculation the value of stored carbon using the formula according to (SNI 7724:2011) the value of parent carbon content,amounting to 0,47. Bassed on the research that has been done, it is found that there are 185 individuals, Rhizophora spp., Bruguiera gymnorhiza, Rhizpphora apiculata, Xylocarpus gerantum and Excoecaria agallocha. The biomassa content can be known in the 3 pathways to store 242,16 tons biomassa and the total  biomassa content in 1210,8 tons/ha with an everage of 403,6 tons/ha. The carbon content is 569,06 tons/ha so that it gets an average total of 186,68 tons C/ha.Keywords: Carbon Stock, Ketapang Regency, Sungai Awan Kiri in Mangrove Forests.

This research was conducted in March-April 2021 in the Coastal District of Sungai Apit, Siak Regency, Riau Province. The purpose of this study was to analyze changes in the land cover area of ​​mangrove vegetation and mangrove vegetation index in Sungai Apit District, Siak Regency, Riau Province. The method used in this study is a survey method with the interpretation of Landsat image data recorded in 2000, 2005, 2010, 2015, 2020. The results of the study obtained that mangrove forests with the highest area were in 2000 with an area of ​​mangrove vegetation reaching 7990,586 ha and there was a decline with the lowest number in 2015 with a vegetation area of ​​486,43 ha and in 2020 the mangrove vegetation area of ​​497,511 ha. Overall as much as 79% of the mangrove forest area has been damaged and changed its function within a period of 20 years. The NDVI value in Sungai Apit District is moderate with a value of 0,3-0,5, the category of meeting with a value of 0,5-0,6, and the very dense category of 0,6-0,8

Forest provides basic ecosystem services to adjacent local people welfare. Ecotourism is one of the goverment program to improve the livelihood, by full local people involvement on planning, management and evaluation. Margasari, East L ampung, with its 700 ha mangrove forest, has a ahigh potential natural resources to develop community based ecotourism program. Study on evaluating mangrove forestas community based ecotourism was conducted in Lampung Mangrove Center, Margasari, East Lampung. collected data were analyzed qualitatively using SWOT with hope to obtain a mangrove forest potential for community-based ecotourism development. Potential of mangrove forests in LMC into category medium. Total of 98 % agreed if the community perception was developed as a community-based ecotourism. Motivation tourists visiting as much as 27 % for research, 37 % for recreation and rest along the mangroves by boat (36 %). LMC real carrying capacity of area can accommodate as many as 170 people / day, while the carrying capacity of the facility and amenitas 174 people / visit. SWOT analysis illustrates the mangrove forests in LMC has potential to be developed as a community-based ecotourism destination.

Arboreal ants are ants that do activities and spend their lives in tree. Roles of this organism are to serve as decomposers, pollinators, predators and indicators. Ant species diversity constitutes a chain for ecosystem stability. They are responsible as decomposing insects making their presence becomes ecologically vital. Research on ant species diversity in mangrove forest remains insufficient. One of the reasons possibly is that fact that mangrove is an ecosystem which is affected by sea tide. This research aims at gathering data about ant species diversity based on types of mangrove forest vegetation located in Setapuk Besar, Singkawang City. The research used a survey method by observing types of trees whose diameter was 10 cm and above. Additionally, the tree should have a large number of ants. The data was collected through fly sheet trap set under, in the mid, and above the tidal level. Findings revealed 6 types of ants consisting 4 sub-families in 6 types of the trees i.e. Rhizopora mucronata, Avicennia lanata, Hibiscus tiliaceus, Terminalia capatta, Nypa fruticans, and Bruguiera cylindrical.. Based on the diversity index of those 6 types of trees, the divercity of arboreal ants spesies could be categorized low (H’<1). The highest diversity was nypa fruticans vegetation by 0.325. This was because the tree contains sugar level and carbohydrate. The lowest diversity was Hibiscus tiliaceus and Termialia catappa. The H’ value was 0. One of the reasons was because only one species of ants can be found in both trees, namely Oecophylla smaragdina.Keywords: Arboreal Ants, Diversity, Mangrove, Singkawang

Abstract. Isroni W, Islamy RA, Musa M, Wijanarko P. 2019. Short Communication: Species composition and density of mangrove forest in Kedawang Village, Pasuruan, East Java. Biodiversitas 20: 1688-1692. Mangrove is one of ecosystems located in estuary and shallow coastal waters and its existence has a significant role for life. The aim of this study was to identify species composition and density of mangrove forest in Kedawang village, Nguling Sub-district, Pasuruan District, East Java, Indonesia. Survey method using belt transects was carried at three sampling points. Results of this study showed that mangrove vegetation in Kedawang includes five species from three families, namely Avicenniaceae (Avicennia alba and Avicennia marina), Rhizophoraceae (Rhizophora apiculata and Rhizophora mucronata), and Sonneratiace (Sonneratia alba). At sampling point 1, A. alba dominated with a density of 37 individuals/ha at tree level, 380 individuals/ha at pole level and 3100 individuals/ha at stake level. At sampling point 2, the tree level was dominated by A. alba with 142 individuals/ha, while R. mucronata dominated the pole and stake level with 1300 and 1467individuals/ha, respectively. At sampling point 3, the pole and stake level was dominated by A. alba with 167 and 933 individuals/ha respectively, while A. marina dominated the sapling level with 800 individuals/ha. At all stations, the density at stake level is greater than that tree level. Therefore, it is necessary to carry out conservation efforts in the form of protection combined with restoration by enrichment planting at all study locations to increase the diversity and density of mangrove vegetation.

ABSTRAKKawasan pesisir Wonorejo merupakan kawasan mangrove yang direhabilitasi menjadi kawasan ekowisata. Penelitian bertujuan untuk menganalisis pola pembentukan zonasi vegetasi pada ekosistem mangrove yang telah direhabilitasi. Lokasi pengamatan berada pada 3 stasiun, yaitu Stasiun 1 terletak pada batas atas zona supratidal, Stasiun 2 di pertengahan zona intertidal, dan Stasiun 3 pada zona subtidal. Struktur vegetasi mangrove dianalisis berdasarkan Kerapatan Jenis (K), Dominansi (D), dan Indeks Nilai Penting (INP); sedangkan sebaran vegetasi mangrove berdasarkan karakteristik lingkungan dianalisis dengan menggunakan Analisis Komponen Utama (Principal Component Analysis, PCA). Hasil pengamatan menunjukkan bahwa jenis yang dominan pada Stasiun 1 adalah Nypa fruticans (84,2%), sedangkan pada Stasiun 2 jenis yang dominan adalah Excoecaria agallocha (40,9%), dan di Stasiun 3 adalah Avicennia alba (83,4%). Tingkat kerusakan vegetasi mangrove di Wonorejo dikategorikan sedang, dengan kerapatan pohon antara ≥ 1000 – < 1500 per hektar. Indeks keanekaragaman pada semua stasiun juga tergolong rendah karena bernilai kurang dari 1,5. Ekosistem ini mulai menunjukkan adanya suksesi ekosistem, terbukti dengan mulai adanya jenis-jenis mangrove lain yang tidak ditanam dengan sengaja. Hasil analisis PCA menunjukkan adanya korelasi positif antara parameter jenis vegetasi dengan tinggi rendaman pasut, salinitas, dan pH, yang berkontribusi membentuk sumbu F2 positif. Artinya ketiga parameter tersebut merupakan faktor utama yang menentukan apakah ekosistem tersebut sesuai untuk pertumbuhan jenis mangrove tertentu. ABSTRACTThe coastal area of Wonorejo is the mangrove area rehabilitated to become an ecotourism area. The research aims to analyze the patterns of formation of mangrove vegetation zoning that have been rehabilitated. The observation locations are at 3 stations, i.e. station 1 is located at the upper limit of supratidal zone, station 2 is in the middle of intertidal zone, and station 3 is in the subtidal zone. The structure of the mangrove vegetation were analyzed based on the species density (K), dominance (D), and important value index (IVI); while the distribution of mangrove vegetation based on environmental characteristics was analyzed using Principal Component Analysis (PCA). The results showed that the dominant species at Station 1 was Nypa fruticans (84.2%), whereas in Station 2 the dominant species was Excoecaria agallocha (40.9%), and at Station 3 was Avicennia alba (83.4%) The level of damage to mangrove vegetation in Wonorejo is categorized as medium, with tree densities between ≥ 1000 - <1500 per hectare. Diversity index at all stations is also relatively low because it is worth less than 1.5. This ecosystem begins to show the existence of an ecosystem succession, as evidenced by the start of other species of mangroves that are not planted intentionally. The results of PCA analysis showed a positive correlation between the parameters of vegetation types with high tide baths, salinity, and pH, which contributed to forming a positive F2 axis. This means that the three parameters are the main factors that determine whether the ecosystem is suitable for the growth of certain species of mangroves.

Mangrove forest is a natural resource typical of tropical coasts, which has multiple benefits with a very broad impact when viewed from social, economic and ecological aspects. Management of natural resources must be very prudent because it takes a long time to be able to recover when damage / extinction has occurred. The purpose of this study was to determine the composition of mangrove species, the structure of mangrove forest vegetation (species density, relative density of species, frequency of species, relative frequency of species, species cover, relative cover of species and important values) and to determine the level of damage. Extraction of mangrove vegetation using the "spot check" method. The transects are drawn perpendicular to the coastline along the mangrove vegetation. The composition of mangrove species were 7 species, namely Rhizophora apiculata, R. stylosa, Bruguirea gymnorrhiza, Ceriops tagal, Sonneratia alba, Xylocarpus granatum and Aegiceras floridum. In the vegetation structure, the highest density and relative density were found in Rhizophora stylosa and the lowest was Xylocarpus granatum. The highest species and relative frequencies were Rhizophora stylosa, R. apiculata and the lowest were Bruguiera gymnorrhiza. The highest type and closure were Sonneratia alba and the lowest was Ceriops tagal. Meanwhile, the highest importance was in Sonneratia alba and the lowest was Xylocarpus granatum. Overall, the density value of mangrove species on Manomadehe Island is 2796 trees / ha so that the condition of the mangrove forests on Manomadehe Island is still in the good category (very dense).

ABSTRAK Desa Pasar Banggi memiliki potensi pariwisata hutan mangrove yang besar untuk dikembangkan. Tujuan dari penelitian ini untuk mengidentifikasi potensi, kesesuaian ekowisata dan menentukan strategi pengembangan ekowisata pada kawasan hutan mangrove Desa Pasarbanggi Kabupaten Rembang. Penelitian dilakukan pada tanggal 3-27 Juli 2016 di kawasan hutan mangrove Desa Pasar Banggi, Kabupaten Rembang. Metode yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah deskriptif eksloratif, dengan menggunakan metode survei dalam bentuk data primer dan skunder. Data yang diperoleh kemudian dianalisis kesesuaian lahan dan analisis SWOT (Strength, Weakness, Opportunity dan Thread). Hasil penelitian menyatakan bahwa ketebalan hutan mangrove 100-150 ha dengan kerapatan bernilai 35-40 ind/m2. Potensi ekowisata yang terdapat pada kawasan hutan mangrove desa Pasarbanggi adanya jenis satwa dalam hal ini jenis burung yang dilindungi seperti kuntul kecil, dan kuntul kerbau.Hasil analisis kesesuaian ekowisata mangrove menunjukan pada stasiun I, II, dan III masing-masing adalah 67%, 78%, dan 70% bahwa kawasan hutan mangrove dukuh Kaliuntu termasuk dalam kategori sesuai untuk dijadikan kawasan ekowisata di Kabupaten Rembang.Menurut hasil analisis SWOT, yang menjadi prioritas utama di Desa Pasar Banggi adalah: a) Penentuan zona dalam kawasan konservasi ekosistem mangrove dan b) Peningkatan partisipasi stakeholder terhadap program konservasi ekosistem mangrove. Kata Kunci: Ekowisata; Hutan Mangrove; Pasar Banggi  ABSTRACT Pasar Banggi Village has tourism potential of mangrove forests to be developed. The purpose of this research was to identify the potential,analysis comformity of ecotourism and estabilsh the strategy of ecotourism development in the mangrove forest at Pasar Banggi area Rembang Regency. The research was conducted on July 3 - 27th 2016 in the mangrove forest  Pasar Banggi Village, Rembang Regency. The method used in this research is descriptive explorative, by using survey method in a form of primary and secondary data. The collected data was then analyzed the conformitu of the land and SWOT analysis (Strangth, Weakness, Opportunity, and Thread). The result of the research showed that the thickness of mangrove forest is 100-150 ha with the density of 35-40 ind/m2. The ecotourism potential that can be found in the mangrove forest at Pasar banggi village is the existence of protected bird such as little egrets and egrest buffalo. The result of the analysis comformity of ecotourism mangrove was shown in the station I, II, and III respectively are 67%, 78%, and 70% that the mangrove forest area of Kaliuntu Village was include in suitable catagory to be targetted as the ecotourism area in Rembang Regency. Based on the SWOT analysis, the major priority in Pasar Banggi Village are: a) Determining zone in mangrove ecosystem concervational area, and b) The increase of stakeholders participation to the mangrove ecosystem concervational program. Keywords: Ecotourism; Mangrove Forest; Pasar Banggi

The potential natural resources namely mangrove forests and marine ecosystems in the Kuri Hamlet The Caddi Team encouraged the Student Creativity Program (PKM) of Hasanuddin University students in the PKM-M Blue Forest activities to encourage the community to carry out community service activities. The purpose of this activity is to increase public knowledge and awareness about mangrove challenges in the Kuri Caddi Hamlet. Prior to the activity, prior tests were conducted to measure the community's initial ability regarding mangroves. The implementation process teaches how to use lecture, discussion, direct practice, and brainstorming methods. Then to use the evaluation used a post-test to identify increased understanding of community learning. After the Blue-Forest Activity, the community increased their knowledge about mangrove introduction material by 59% from 100%, Awareness of utilization by 63% from 100% and mangrove forest parts by 63% from 100%. So, prior to the activity, PKM-M Blue-Forest carried out based on average knowledge about mangroves was only 26% from 100%. After this activity is carried out, the partner's knowledge increases to 61% from 100%.
