The fourth industrial revolution of human society is also known as the “world’s new technological revolution,” which has brought human society into the information age and has had an extremely important impact on economic development and educational reform. In the information age, economic development and wealth creation are dominated by the acquisition, mastery, distribution, and utilization of information instead of capital. Therefore, the cultivation of talents is very important, and educational reform is imperative with the rise of the world’s new technological revolution.

Discussions on the impact and future directions of technology often proceed from an empirical point of view that seems to presume that the ebb and flow of technological developments is beyond the control of humankind, so that all that humanity can do is adjust to it. However, such an approach easily neglects several crucial normative considerations that could enhance the standing of individual human beings and whole communities as rational users of technology rather than its slaves. Besides, more often than not, technological products are designed in ways that neglect the needs of persons with disabilities, thereby perpetuating their exclusion from society. Consequently, this article proposes four normative considerations to guide the initiatives of African societies in their deployment of the technologies of the Fourth Industrial Revolution, namely, inclusiveness to meet the needs of all human beings, affordability to bridge the digital divide, respect for cultural identity to guard against cultural imperialism, and an ethical orientation as the over-arching guide to building a truly human society.

When studying human society, Karl Marx affirmed that all changes in social life, in the end, originate from the transformation of the productive forces. The development of productive forces is expressed through the conquest of the nature of men. Productive forces reflect the actual capability of men in the process of creating wealth for society and ensuring human development. In any society, in order to create wealth, both workers and means of production are needed. Without instruments for the labor process, men cannot create wealth. That development provides us with more convincing practical evidence to continue affirming Karl Marx’s precise view of the productive forces, and at the same time requires us to supplement and develop his view on this issue inconsistent with reality. In the current context of globalization and the Fourth Industrial Revolution, it is essential to clarify all the practical capabilities used in the production process of the society over the world’s development periods to promote social development. Therefore, this article clarifies the basic arguments to analyze Karl Marx’s view on the productive forces and see the need to refresh and supplement Karl Marx’s theory in the current situation.

The Fourth Industrial Revolution, finally, will change not only what we do but also who we are. It will affect our identity and all the issues associated with it: our sense of privacy, our notions of ownership, our consumption patterns, the time we devote to work and leisure, and how we developour careers, cultivate our skills, meet people, and nurture relationships. The technological revolution in the modern developing environment in which innovative technologies and trends such as the virtual reality (VR), Internet of Things (IoT), Artificial Intelligence (AI), Robotics are fundamentally altering the way of living, working and relationships to one another, is known as Fourth Industrial Revolution or Industry 4.0 or Industrie 4.0. The Fourth Industrial Revolution is reshaping every sphere of human life — from government to commerce; from education to healthcare. It is even impacting humanvalues, opportunities, relationships and identities by modifying virtual as well as physical worlds of human beings.

If the fourth industrial revolution should be the revolution of values, where people, more than ever, are at the center of everything, it may be the technology that gives us the ability to place ourselves in that privileged position. However, there is consensus that the fourth industrial revolution is not defined by a set of emerging technologies in themselves, but by the transition to new systems that are built on the infrastructure of the digital revolution that we have already lived. The speed of the advances experienced in the last decade, along with the scope and impact of these in society, have allowed us to understand that we have reached a new technological revolution. The convergence, that is the real revolution, not only of digital technologies but also physical and biological will allow humanity to face the great challenges that have been marked for decades or centuries.

The importance of technology in advancing experiential learning and building entrepreneurs that can withstand the challenges and explore the opportunities in the fourth industrial revolution are enormous. The chapter adopted a literature review approach to establish the link between technology incubator and entrepreneurship development. The concepts of technology incubator and entrepreneurship development as well as other related concepts were extensively discussed. It identifies the need for adequate investments toward tech entrepreneurship development and tech-savvy for the future through technology incubation programmes. Such programmes set to aid innovativeness, creating jobs, fast-tracking research to industry linkages, building wealth by fostering the formation of new ventures, among others. The chapter concludes that institutions for entrepreneurship development need to shift their tents to cover major areas of technological revolution, particularly technological incubation to promote entrepreneurship development in Industry 4.0.

This chapter focuses on the drivers of human capital development in the fourth industrial revolution by examining the role of women. It discusses the role of women in economic development since 570BC. Women are ignored in most important areas in society whereas men are found at the frontline. However, available empirical analyses suggest that when women are empowered, they are able to turn the tables in their favour. The chapter outlines development role played by selected women across time and uses data from studies to show poor representation of women on international bodies and parliamentary seats. Selected women that have led and continue to lead various countries all over the world are presented. This chapter argues that women are important stakeholders in economic freedom. The chapter suggests encouraging society and men in particular to help women become front line participants in the human capital development for the fourth industrial revolution.

The diversity of human culture is fixed in its codes, that is, in models of relations, behavior and activities of people. Today, in the era of the fourth industrial revolution, one of the system-forming cultural codes - the hierarchical division of society into the elite and the masses is dramatically transformed. Understanding the new cultural realities in the transition of society to a new “digital” state is based on Alexei Leontyev’s theory of consciousness activity and the concept of “ideal” by Evald Ilyenkov. The methods of philosophical reflection analyze the change in the essential characteristics of the cultural subcode "elite - masses" when the conditions of society are changing. This cultural subcode itself is being transformed; a new “technological elite” is emerging based on nano-bio-info-cognitive technologies (NBIC-technologies). At the same time, and thanks to the same technologies and squeezing out the masses of people from the production process, more broadly, from the struggle for existence, the process of mass degradation and the reduction of thinking as a creative activity to stamps, while cliches and memorized patterns of movement are intensifying. Philosophical and culturalological understanding of the consequences of the technological revolution, the transformation of the cultural subcode "elite - masses" is an important area of research into the structure of the new type of social organization that is emerging in our lifetime.

Objectives: ethical leadership is a widely discussed topic, but so far there are still debates around this topic, even arguing that ethical leadership is just statements of right and wrong or that it is a style “leadership style”. Now, the impact of the fourth industrial revolution will make ethical leadership even more essential to improving leadership performance. Therefore, the aim of the study is to show the advantages and challenges of the fourth industrial revolution, these impacts on ethical leadership, so that the effects are useful to leadership performance. Focus on developing ethical leadership. Methods / Analysis: this study conducts analysis and evaluation from data sources on Science Direct, Web of Science, and Scopus, thereby showing the basic characteristics of leadership, ethics, ethical leadership, fourth industrial revolution, advantages and challenges, discussions on the impact of the fourth industrial revolution on ethical leadership. Findings: The findings of the study indicate that the ethical leadership qualities are quite stable, such as perseverance, service spirit, tolerance, power sharing, fairness, etc. The impact of the fourth technological revolution will make ethical leaders more effective in their roles, making it easier for leaders to overcome challenges, contributing to improving leadership performance. Novelty / Improvement: research shows that ethical leaders will be dedicated leaders, service-minded leaders, impacted by the fourth technological revolution, making leadership even more powerful. Virtue becomes more and more important.
