Teaching and learning process of natural science subjects includes aspects of: knowledge, skill, and thinking competence. Teachers did not implement the teaching activity which emphasize on thinking and conceptual understanding process because of limited time to make teaching and learning set which can train students’ creative thinking and conceptual understanding competence. This research aimed to produce teaching and learning set of natural science subject that is valid, practice, and effective to train creative thinking and conceptual understanding competence of junior high school students. This research was conducted to implement the teaching and learning set based on guided Inquiry. The target of this research was teaching and learning set. The design of this research is research and development research using Thiagarajan’s 4D model with one group pre-test post-test design. The data analysis technique used descriptive quantitative. Learning-based guided Inquiry was successful to train creative thinking and conceptual understanding competence. The result of creative thinking showed that the average score of pre-test was 42,61 and 83,19 of post-test with 0,70 of N-Gain, categorized as high level. The result of conceptual understanding (knowledge) showed that the average score of pre-test was 41,30 and 86,30 of post-test with 0,77 of N-Gain, categorized as high level. Based on the research result, it can be concluded that teaching and learning set of natural science subjects based guided Inquiry has been developed and it is valid, practice, and effective train students’ creative thinking and conceptual understanding competence. Proses pembelajaran IPA meliputi aspek sikap, pengetahuan, keterampilan, dan kemampuan berpikir. Guru belum melaksanakan pembelajaran yang menekankan pada proses berpikir dan pemahaman konsep karena keterbatasan waktu dalam menyusun perangkat pembelajaran yang dapat melatihkan kemampuan berpikir kreatif dan pemahaman konsep. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menghasilkan perangkat pembelajaran IPA yang valid, praktis, dan efektif untuk melatihkan kemampuan berpikir kreatif dan pemahaman konsep pada siswa SMP. Pembelajaran ini dilakukan dengan cara menerapkan perangkat pembelajaran berbasis inkuiri terbimbing. Sasaran penelitian adalah perangkat pembelajaran. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian pengembangan dengan model 4D dari Thiagarajan dan desain ujicoba penelitian menggunakan one group pre-test post-test. Teknik analisis data menggunakan deskriptif kuantitatif. Pembelajaran berbasis inkuiri terbimbing berhasil melatihkan kemampuan berpikir kreatif dan pemahaman konsep. Hasil belajar tes berpikir kreatif, rata-rata persentase pretest sebesar 42,61 dan posttest 83,19 dengan rata-rata N-Gain sebesar 0,70 dengan kategori tinggi. Hasil belajar pemahaman konsep siswa (aspek pengetahuan), rata-rata pretest sebesar 41,30 dan posttest 86,30 dengan rata-rata N-Gain sebesar 0,77 dengan kategori tinggi. Berdasarkan hasil analisis data dan diskusi hasil serta temuan-temuan, dapat disimpulkan bahwa perangkat pembelajaran IPA berbasis inkuri terbimbing yang telah dikembangkan valid, praktis, dan efektif untuk melatihkan kemampuan berpikir kreatif  dan pemahaman konsep siswa.

The rising of an environmental issue and the lack of the handling of garbage organizing give support to us to do the research by involving garbages as the main material in making simple visual aids of physics. Based on that condition, we try to make new innovations in stimulating the creativity developing of natural science education department students of UNHASY having done the lecturing of basic physics collaborated with environmental science. The purpose of the research is to be able to give insight through education program of 5R (Reduce, Reuse, Recycle, Replace, Respect) to students of natural science department of  University of Hasyim Asy’ari and apply that knowledge in changing garbage to be simple visual aids of physics. The method used in this research is qualitative descriptive, whose data can be divided into 3 kinds: observation results (detail description of what has happened in the field), interview results ( direct citation from people’s statements in interview session) dan written material. The results of the data are, then analyzed by using observation sheets of creative thinking ability. The main research subjects are 29 students. This research is entitled “Using graphic organizer strategy in teaching writing on narrative paragraph (experimental research). Writing is a very important subject that should be learned by English learners. The students should be able to express their ideas and opinion either in the form of a sentence or paragraph. However, the researcher found that many students at the Second Grade Students of SMP Negeri 1 Tanah Luas could not express their ideas and develop into the paragraph. Hence, the appropriate strategy of teaching and learning is very important to help students master writing skills. This research aims to know the effect of achievement between the students who are taught writing by using graphic organizers from those taught writing in the narrative by using traditional methods. This research was experimental research and used a quasi-experimental design. The samples chosen in this research were the whole students of class VIII2 and VIII4 of SMPN 1 Tanah Luas. Class VIII2 consisted of 25 students was chosen as experimental group and class VIII4 consisted of 24 students was chosen as control group. This research was conducted in three phrases; there were pre-test, treatments and post-test. The data collection technique used in this research was test. The tests were pre-test and post-test. The researcher gave pre-test before giving treatment and post-test after giving treatment. The treatment was conducted in three meetings. The data was analyzed by using t-test formula. The research result and the hypothesis authentication found by using t-test formula in significant level 5% or α = 0.05 were obtained that ttest > ttable. The ttest found in this research was 3.91. Meanwhile, ttable was gotten from the list of distribution value with degree of freedom = 47, because the data not in the table, the researcher used interpolation approach and obtained = 1.67. So >  = 3.91 > 1.67. It meant that Ha was accepted and Ho was rejected. So, graphic organizer strategy significantly affects the students’ ability in mastering writing.   Kata Kunci: graphic organizer strategy, teaching and learning, writing narrative paragraph

<p>The purpose of this study is to obtain a profile of students’ creative thinking skills on quantitative project-based protein testing using local materials. Implementation of the research is using quasi-experimental method pre-test post-test control group design with 40 students involved in Biochemistry lab. The research instrument is pre-test and post-test using creative thinking skills in the form of description and students’ questionnaire. The analysis was performed with SPSS 22.0 program to see the significance normality, U Mann-Whitney test for nonparametric statistics, N-Gain score, and the percentage of student responses to the practicum performed. The research result shows that the pretest rate in the experimental group is 8.25 while in the control group is 6.90. After attending a project-based practicum with local materials, the experimental group obtained the mean of posttest is 37.55 while in control class is 11.18. The students’ improvement on creative thinking skills can be seen from the average of N-Gain in the experimental class with 0.32 (medium category) and in the control category with 0.05 (low category). The experimental and control class have different creative thinking skills significantly different fluency, flexibility, novelty, and detail. It can be concluded that quantitative project-based protein testing using local materials can improve students’ creative thinking skills. 71% of total students feel that quantitative project-based protein testing using local materials make them more creative in doing a practicum in the laboratory.</p>

AbstractThis research was instigated by the low of students creative thinking ability at State Senior High School 1 Perhentian Raja. This research aimed at knowing the effect of implementing Guided Inquiry learning model with student workbook toward student creative thinking ability on Colloid lesson at State Senior High School 1 Perhentian Raja.  It was Quasi Experimental research.  Simple Random Sampling technique was used in this research.  The samples comprised two classes, the eleventh-grade students of Natural Science 1 that were 33 students as the Control group and the students of Natural Science 2 that were 32 studentsas the Experimental group. The techniques of collecting the data were tests in the form of homogeneity test as the preliminary data, pretest and posttest as the final data, observation, and documentation. The instrument of this research was creative thinking ability test in the form of essay with the indicators of fluency, flexibility, originality, and elaboration. The pretest and posttest data were analyzed by using t test at 5% significant level.  The research findings showed that there was a significant effect of implementing Guided Inquiry learning model with student workbook toward student creative thinking ability on Colloid lesson that t was 4.268 and the score of Sig. Learning trends in the 21st-century require students to have the ability to sort appropriate information from certain sources. To do this, students must have critical thinking skills. One of the learning models that can facilitate students to think critically is a guided-inquiry lab. Thus, the purpose of this study was to quantitatively analyze the impact of the implementation of the guided-inquiry lab model on students' critical thinking skills on mechanics material. A pre-experimental method employing one group pretest-posttest only design was applied to obtain students' critical thinking skills data before and after the implementation of the guided-inquiry lab model. A total of 32 students from a junior high school in the city of Karanganyar, Central Java, were involved as the samples in this study. The data obtained were then analyzed using N-gain calculations. Based on the data analysis, there are 81.25% of students have medium creative thinking skills after being taught with a guided-inquiry lab, meaning there is an increase in the average score of students after being taught using a guided-inquiry lab model. It can be concluded that the implementation of the guided-inquiry lab model is effective to improve students' critical thinking skills

This study is a classroom action research. The general objective of this study is improving students’ writing skill through outdoor activity. While the specific objective of this research are (1) whether or not outdoor activity can increase the students’ writing content of descriptive text of the second year of Mts Sudirman Kopeng  Getasan. (2) it describe whether the outdoor activity can improve  the students’ writing skill in developing paragraph. This classroom action research was conducted at MTs Sudirman Getasan. The procedure of the research consisted of planning, action, observing, and reflection. The observation during the process of English teaching and learning was helped by the collaborator. In this research,  the writer acted as a practitioner. The test was in the form of pre-test and post –test conducted in cycle 1, cycle 2, and cycle 3. The research result were: (1)  using outdoor activity as a method can improve students’ writing skill, its proved with the student’s improvement score. The mean score of the pre-test of the students was 57 (very poor) and the mean score of the post- test 70 (good). The mean of the post-Test is higher than the mean of the pre-Test ( 64.53>56.56), the mean of the post-test in cycle 2  is higher than mean of cycle 1 (70.59>64.53) and the mean of the post –Test cycle 3 is higher than cycle 2 (74.56>70.59). the proven result of the implementation was 75%. (2) The effectiveness of using outdoor activity in improving students’ writing skill is proved from the t-test and t-table in cycle 1 (9.67>2.042) which the score of t-test was higher than the score of t-table and the result of t-test and t-table in cycle 3 (15.11>2.042) also showed that the score of t-table.

The purpose of the article is to investigate the impact of teaching and learning methods on Jordanian students' performance in primary schools. This study is of quasi-experimental design. Three tools are used in this study: an interactive board, a class PC and traditional tools. The data was collected by questionnaires, and then regressions were used to test the hypothesis. The results indicate that for creativity thinking, the highest difference between pre and post-test is related to class PC followed by traditional learning and finally interactive boards. Moreover, results indicate that the three tools affect fluency, flexibility and originality, while they have no significant effect on elaboration. The results also indicate that for the academic achievement class the PC reported the highest mean, followed by interactive boards and finally by traditional tools. Furthermore, results show that using class the PC and interactive boards affect students' creative thinking as compared to traditional teaching.

This research investigated whether or not there is the influence of English song towards the student’s pronunciation. This research used a quantitative method. Research design is an experimental class and control class, two classes were selected from eleventh-grade students at SMAN 1 Ciasem Subang. The Quasi-Experimental Research was conducted in four meetings. The data were obtained by observing the teaching and learning process, test, questionnaire, and interviewing the students. The research result of the analysis quantitative and qualitative data were as follows. The analysis of quantitative data, mean score of pre-test in the experimental class was 14.44. While the mean score in the control class was 14.58. Furthermore, the mean score of the post-test in the experimental class was 82.98. While the mean score post-test in the control class was 60.56. Based on the result, the experimental class students’ score on post-test were better in which the mean = 82.89 than their scores on pre-test the mean = 60.56 . in addition, the two-tailed value of p was 0.000 which was lower than 0.05 . in conclusion, the calculation of paired t-test showed that there was a significant difference between the pre-test and post-test scores of experimental group. The analysis of qualitative data show that used English song influence through students’ pronunciation by observing the teaching and learning process, test, questionnaire, and interviewing the students. The students were more confident and were not afraid of making mistakes when pronunciation.

The research is the action research aimed at investigating to what extent Reciprocal Teaching overcomes learners’ barriers to effective listening and identifying the situation of teaching and learning when Reciprocal Teaching is employed. Several techniques: interview, observation, and test were applied to obtain the data. The mean score of two raters was calculated to derive the qualitative data; Constant Comparative Method was implemented to analyze the qualitative data. The research result showed Reciprocal Teaching implementation could overcome learners’ barrier to listening including detecting the keywords; recognizing grammar and vocabularies; and discriminating distinctive sounds. The enhancement of Reciprocal Teaching illustrated form mean score of pre-test was 37.4; post-test 1 was 70.4; and post-test 2 was 81. The use of Reciprocal Teaching also optimized the class situation: learners felt encouraged to be receptive to communication in active listening; they got freedom to mind their ideas; and they were more engaged to do mutual task. Considering the finding of the research, the lectures are recommended to use this research for guiding heir learners to solve listening barrier through Reciprocal Teaching.

The main objective of this study was to investigate the effect of using guided inquiry teaching method in improving grade eight students’ conceptual understanding of photosynthesis. The study employed Quasi-experimental research method. The data collection instruments were multiple choice tests, observation, as well as informal assessment. The pre-test and post-test were administered before and after treatment respectively. The informal assessment also administered before and after intervention. Besides, the observation was conducted from the first day up to the last day of the intervention. The pre-test and post-test data were analyzed using descriptive statistics and t-tests quantitatively while; data collected through informal assessment and observation were presented using narration. The finding of pre-test revealed that there was no significant difference between the mean score of the two groups. The post-test result revealed that experimental group students significantly improved their conceptual understanding of the topic photosynthesis compared to the control group students. The study concluded that guided inquiry teaching method is more effective than the lecture method in improving students’ conceptual understanding of photosynthesis. Based on the finding of this study, it was recommended that governments should encourage biology teachers to apply guided inquiry teaching method by providing appropriate instructional material.
