The objective of this study is to determine the correlations significantly positive between the process of learning to the outcomes by the college students on subject Calculus I. This study is a correlation research with the descriptive method done on Universitas Katolik Santo Thomas Sumatera Utara Faculty of Teachers and Educations in Study Program of Mathematics for odd Semester in Academic Year 2015/2016. In taking the sample, adopted a simple random method, involved 33 as respondent. Variables in this research are the learning process as independent variable and the outcome as the dependent variable. The instruments in uses to this research such as questionnaire and the result of test. The result of assessment by hypothesis with a simple regression analysis for the variable of learning process (X1) to the result of study (Y) is gained a regression directive coefficient b = 1.265 and constant rate q = -5.275. So the correlations of both the variables can be displayed in a regression line equal Y = -5.275 + 1.265 X1. The assessment in regression significant test Y upon X1 processed by SPSS program obtained the rate of Fcount = 36.17 whereas Ftable = 4.14 on significantly rate α = 0.05. For the rate F count > F table it is concluded that regression directive coefficient Y upon X1 is significant. Still for the rate α = 0.01 the regression directive coefficient Y upon X1 is significant(F count = 36.17 > F table = 7.47). So that regression equal Y = -5.275 + 1.265 X1 could be accountable to take conclusion about the correlations of the learning process to the outcome. This result indicated that rising one score process of learning cause a learning rate 1.265 score in outcome on constant -5.275. The essential of correlations between the learning process to the outcome is showed by correlation coefficient product moment in rate 0.723. By a significance rate of coefficient to t-test was gained the rate t¬count = 6.015 and t table = 2.03. For t count = 6.015 > t table = 2.03 can be concluded that H0 is refusal, on the word H1 is acceptable, so concluded there is significant correlation between the learning process to the outcome of learning.

The purpose of this study is to obtain descriptive information about the problems and problem solving in learning listening comprehension. The researcher uses descriptive qualitative research and investigates the students’ problems in listening comprehension at the fourth semester and the steps to overcome their problems. There are 23 students at the fourth semester of English Education Study Program Peradaban University in the academic year 2018/2019 as the sample. In collecting the data, the researcher uses questionnaire and interview as the instruments. The researcher finds the most problems faced by the fourth studentsare lack of concentration, native speaker speaking speed, unfamiliar words, and lack of effort to understand each word. The solution offeredto solve those problems are focus and concentrate while listening class, concentrate on what is heard, and write things that are important when listening to material spoken by native speaker; find the meanings of unfamiliar words, look at the dictionary to find out difficult words, check words that are not clearly heard in dictionary, memorize vocabulary, and read English text and listen to English audio; and familiarize the students with the rulers of pronunciation in order to help them hear the different forms of rapid natural speech and ask them to imitate native speakers’ pronunciation. It concludes that learning information about the problems and problem solving at the fourth semester are because of the fact that their learning outcomes are still far from being standard. Therefore, problem solving in listening comprehension learning is expected to minimize the problems faced by students of the fourth semester of English Education Study Program Peradaban University in learning process so that they get satisfying learning outcomes.

This research aims at analyzing the grammatical errors in English abstracts of the undergraduate thesis. This research takes place at two private colleges in Medan city which provide the undergraduate program of management study namely Sekolah Tinggi Ilmu Manajemen Sukma Medan and Sekolah Tinggi Ilmu Ekonomi Eka Prasetya. There are 20 abstracts taken as the data which are gathered from those colleges. This research engages with a qualitative descriptive approach. The data were analyzed by using the Error Analysis Method by Gass and Selinker. Based on the analysis, the categories of the grammatical errors found are the subject-verb agreement in the use of tense agreement and number agreement, and the use of the article ‘a/an/the’. The research findings show that the tense agreement error is 80, the number agreement error is 10, the omission of article a/an is 4, the omission of article ‘the’ is 153, the addition of article ‘a/an’ is 1, and the addition of article ‘the’ is 8. Hence, there are 300 grammatical errors found. Meanwhile, there are two sources of the grammatical errors; they are inter-language error and intra-language error. Yet, four factors cause grammatical error namely indeterminacy, inconsistency, simplification, and overgeneralization. Based on the findings, the researcher gives constructive pedagogical remediation which is directed to the EFL learners, English language instructor, and the syllabus developer.
