In order to investigate the comparative analysis of physico-chemical parameters of experimental soil (black cotton soil), vermicompost, farmyard manure and their impact on seed germination, the study was conducted by using Randomized block design (RBD) with three replications at the Department of Botany Govt. Madhav Science P.G. College Ujjain, M.P. The various physico-chemical parameters (pH, electric conductivity, organic carbon, nitrogen, phosphorus, potassium, zinc, copper, iron, and manganese) and seed germination of soybean and wheat were studied in the experiment. The results revealed that pH (7.14), electric conductivity (1.84 ds/m), organic carbon (198.53 g/kg), nitrogen (246.57 kg/ha), phosphorus (55.24 kg/ha), potassium (438.52 kg/ha), zinc (320.13 ppm), copper (289.34 ppm), iron (239.34 ppm) and manganese (248.37 ppm) were found more efficient in vermicompost followed by farmyard manure and soil. The results also revealed that seed germination percentage of soybean was found highest (91%) by using 20% vermicompost followed by 20% farmyard manure (86%), 200 gm NPK (73%) treatment, control (69%) and seed germination in wheat was maximum (93%) in 20% vermicompost treatment followed by 20% farmyard manure (87%), 200 gm NPK (74%) and minimum (70%) in control. The study concluded that vermicompost is nutrient rich and most efficient organic manure than farmyard manure and NPK fertilizer for the better growth and sustainable agriculture of soybean.

Long-term experiment of Gongzhuling base for the study through three treatments(1)NPK: NPK fertilizer; (2)N165M: Manure and NPK fertilizer; (3)1.5M+NPK: 1.5Manure and NPK fertilizer, used DSSAT-Century soil model to study the long-term effects of different fertilizer treatments on soil organic carbon, total nitrogen content and the laws of growth and decline. The results show that: long-term application of nitrogen fertilizer can significantly improve crop yields compare with NPK.. Corn production is also affected by climatic conditions, especially in drought years with less precipitation. Larger impact of organic manure on soil organic carbon (SOC)and total nitrogen, SOC content obtained in descending order of 1.5M + N165> N165> N0 by Century model simulation. Soil organic carbon content and nitrogen content has a certain relevance, and the trend is consistent. Organic manure and inorganic fertilizer can significantly reduce soil inorganic nitrogen content and reduce the risk of nitrogen leaching. Through model simulations C / N ratio could be explained: C / N increases indicated an increase of organic carbon faster than organic nitrogen in soil, and changes of soil chronic library SOM2 determined organic carbon content. Therefore we should pay attention to organic manure carbon return level, vigorously promote the use of farmyard manure to improve soil nutrient content.

Aim: This study evaluates the effects of soil amendment with organic manure-OM and agricultural lime-AL on the growth and yield of Phaseolus vulgaris and Vigna aconitifolia grown on soils with 3 different pH (locations) in Southern Cross River State. Study Design: The study was laid in randomized complete block design (RCBD) with three replications. Place and Duration of Study: This study was carried out at the Greenhouse, Department of Plant and Ecological Studies, University of Calabar for a period of 3 months. Methodology: The three locations were: Akamkpa with pH 4.0, Calabar Municipality with pH of 7.0 and Odukpani with pH of 9.0. The treatments were; control (0 g), OM1 (100 g organic manure), OM2 (200g organic manure), AL1 (100 g agricultural lime), AL2 (200 g agricultural lime), OM1 + AL1 (50 g organic manure + 50 g agricultural lime) and OM2 +AL2 (100 g organic manure and 100 g agricultural lime. Results: Results obtained from the physico-chemical properties of the soil before treatment application revealed low nutrients and minerals which increased after treatment application. Six weeks after planting, there were significant increase in plant height (p<0.05) of P. vulgaris and V. aconitifolia on soil from Akamkpa (169.66 cm) and Odukpani (146.63 cm) treated with OM2 + AL2 compared to 43.77 cm and 71.77 cm from control. Leaf area, petiole length, number of leaves were all significantly improved especially at 8 weeks after planting. Fresh weights of leaf, stem and root revealed higher yield (p<0.05) at the final harvest recorded as 8 weeks after planting than the amount at 4 weeks after planting. The results obtained from the pod number, pod weight and number of seed showed significant improvement after treatment application. Conclusion: The findings of this study strongly support the use of organic manure and agriculture lime as affordable and accessible sources of manure especially for our local farmers.

This work focuses on analyzing of physico-chemical properties of sediment affected by frequent floods along the eastern shore of the Bandama River in the department of Niakaramadougou. Sampling was from 4 excavated graves at two positions of studied area, one near the stream and the other one far away from the stream.. Samples collected were analyzed, including texture with granulometric analysis made by the Robinson pipette, and standard sediment analysis methods for measuring organic carbon (OC), nitrogen (N), and other chemical properties including pH, organic matter (OM), and C/N ratio. Statistical analyses were carried out to assess the differences between the physico-chemical parameters at different sampling areas. Differences are significant when comparing areas that are highly affected by floods and areas that are less affected by floods, especially for concentrations of OM, OC and nitrogen. Results show that successive floods are influencing directly the dynamic of physico-chemical properties of the sediments along the shore.

Water is the most precious natural gift given by God to human race. Its purity is also important for everyone. For the present study two sampling stations, Baratha village and Parichha dam head were selected for comparative assessment of physico-chemical parameters of lotic and lentic zones on Betwa river. Both these sampling stations are located at Jhansi (UP) India. Samples were collected regularly for one complete year from July 2018 to June 2019. Eighteen water parameters and four hundred thirty two samples were analysed. The overall mean ranges of these parameters at Baratha village and Parichha dam head were notified as electric conductivity (518.66±43.47) and (528.75±59.65), pH (8.09±0.36) and (8.14±0.26), water temperature (24.37±4.14) and (23.78±4.12), transparency (54.91±4.97) and (41.61±3.83), turbidity (30±12.38) and (35.25±16.38), TDS (265.33±16.74) and (267.66±25.42), TSS (66.5±12.52) and 69.83±14.45), TS (331.83±28.76) and (337.5±39.04), DO (6.76±0.68) and (6.72±0.86), total alkalinity (141.58±22.74) and (142.25±29.37), total hardness (150.08±22.70) and (153.66±20.55), Ca (29.04±2.32) and (29.84±5.38), Mg (13.51±2.01) and (14.32±2.20), chloride (24.77±3.29) and (26.85±3.99), BOD (4.08±0.71) and (4.15±1.16), COD (11.64±1.02) and (12.82±1.20), NO3 (1.64±0.37) and (1.93±0.59), PO4 (0.46±0.21) and (1.33±0.29). All these findings concluded that the lentic zone (Parichha) is more polluted than the lotic zone (Baratha). However all the observed values are in the range of permissible limits, so both zones can be used for irrigation and fisheries sector.

Abstract Purpose Present work aims at studying the influence of active (using external aerator) and passive (natural) aeration on composting of household biodegradable wastes. Methods To study the suitability of these reactors to household conditions, continuous loading was carried out for a period of 60 days. Both the reactors were loaded with cooked as well as raw vegetable and fruit waste. Physico-chemical parameters such as temperature, pH, C/N ratio, moisture content, total organic content, Total Kjeldahl Nitrogen and seed-germination parameters such as Germination Index (GI) and Root Length Index (RLI) of the mulch were analyzed at different stages of the composting process. Results Results confirmed that, although both types of aeration seem to have performed well under continuous loading, the maturation period required for actively aerated reactor was 37.30% lesser than that of naturally aerated reactor. Conclusion Active aeration found to be more suitable to household conditions as odor and fly nuisance was relatively less.

The physical and chemical properties of the soil governs the kand productivity The present study focuses on soil properties and nutrient indices of soils in five different villages of Arvi and Karanja blocks of Wardha district, Maharashtra. A research programme on Leveraging Agriculture for Nutrition in South Asia (LANSA) through framing system is in progress in these villages. The soils of the site are slightly acidic to alkaline, medium to high in organic carbon, deficient in nitrogen, phosphorus and zinc, medium in iron content and sufficient in potassium, copper and manganese content.

A statistical analysis is carried out on the influence that certain physico-chemical parameters exert on tirsification and vertisolization pedological processes that occur under certain geomorphological conditions in Andalusia region (Spain). Both processes occur on a parent material with high contents in smectitic clays, massive and uniform and contrasting climatic conditions where periods of humidity and those of drought  alternate. Chromic Vertisol (tirsificated) versus Calcium Vertisol (vertisolizated) (FAO, 2015) shows a greater interrelation between parameters given its greater weathering. Organic carbon controls a large part of its physical-chemical processes where the lateral washing of salts and carbonates together with manganese, always in a lower concentration than iron, play a definitive role in the blackening of its horizons. The chemical fertility is always low and  the geomorphological conditions seems to account for its agricultural capacity.

Applying organic matter to the soil surface is an effective effort to increase soil resilience in the Palu valley, which is classified as low. This study aimed to determine: 1) the effect of several doses of compost on the physico-chemical properties of the soil, 2) the correlation between the percentage of organic carbon and total nitrogen in the soil to several physico-chemical properties of the soil. The research was based on a randomized block design in a greenhouse of the Faculty of Agriculture, Tadulako University, Palu. Compost uses raw materials for plantain stems (Musa textilia) and leaves of Gamal (Gliricidia sepium). The compost doses used in the experiment consisted of 0%, 1%, 2%, 3%, 4%, and 5% of the weight of air-dry soil, respectively. The treatment was repeated three times. The results showed that compost application significantly affected soil content weight, total porosity, saturated hydraulic conductivity, field capacity moisture content, percentage of organic carbon, total nitrogen, and cation exchange capacity. The correlation test results showed a powerful relationship between the percentage of organic carbon or total soil nitrogen to other soil physico-chemical properties observed in the experiment.

Textile industrial effluents are highly polluted in nature and vary in its compositions. In the adjoining agricultural area of textile industries sector, there is immense degradation of crops productivity being contaminated by irrigation through tubewells or directly from the effluent drain or village pond. The present paper deals with the physico-chemical parameters of textile industrial effluents and its impacts on germination and growth performance of Lentil (Masoor) Lens esculentum, (Family: Leguminoceae, Sub-family: Papillionateae). Seeds were found more tolerant against 25% concentrated effluent.

Under shed at Biogas Research and Extension Centre, Gujarat Vidyapith, Sadara, District- Gandhinagar, Gujarat, India, a composting pit was prepared by bricks and filled with mixture of 10 kg dung (2.5 kg each of cow, buffalo, sheep and goat) and 2 kg leaves of Calotropis gigantea. The mixture was well mixed at 15 days interval and samples were analysed for various physico-chemical properties at monthly interval of composting upto 90 days. Results show that compared to values of various physico-chemical parameters before composting the values of available phosphorus, available potassium and total nitrogen increased by 2.89, 2.18 and 3.15 times whereas content of pH, electrical conductivity, chloride, total organic carbon and ratio of C:N decreased by 1.12, 4.13, 2.68, 2.38 and 8.13 times after composting. The study highlights the conversion of leaves of C. gigantea into valuable compost.
