Data collection is done through questionnaires and interviews. The data analysis used descriptive analysis. The evaluation results on several training, i.e measurement and participatory mapping of social forestry areas, agroforestry engineering, oyster mushroom cultivation, making, packaging and marketing of bokashi, and nature tour guide showed that aspects of the relevance of the training to the needs of farming businesses are in the medium to high categories. The benefits of training to the farming businesses are in the medium and high category. To improve the quality of the training process and results, it is necessary to conduct a more careful analysis of training needs so that the training program is in line with the needs of the target community.

Forest resources can be utilized through various activities in the land-based sector, including forestry, plantations, and mining. The implications of the issuance of various permits are indicated to cause changes in the area of forest and land cover. This paper aims to analyze and explain the implications of the various land-based sector licenses that have been issued by the local government and the central government on the condition of forest areas in Riau Province. The research method was carried out with qualitative descriptive analysis, through interviews, spatial analysis, and review and tracking documents. The results of the study showed that during the period 1986-2017 there had been a change in the area of forest area and land cover. The biggest changes in forest areas occur due to the conversion of forest areas into plantations, while the largest land cover changes in successive classes are land cover for plantations (Pk), forest plantations (Ht) and mining (Pn). Some of the recommendations that we propose are the temporary dismissal of licenses in the Riau forest area, the rearrangement of all licenses related to forest areas, increasing integrity and willingness of all parties in Riau and the central government in sustainable forest management.

A significant reduction in cosmic-ray activity and backgrounds of the gas-filled proportional counters, as measured in a heavy iron shield, was observed when the Uppsala Conventional 14C Laboratory was moved in 1984. The new site was better shielded from cosmic rays because of additional concrete layers above the laboratory. A study that lasted over one year yielded a figure for the muon reduction. The backgrounds were reduced approximately to the extent expected from the soft-component contribution at the old Laboratory as judged from barometric-pressure dependence. After a few years, new electronics enforced, and enabled, the revision and improvement of the standard values for the activity and age calculations.A careful analysis of the results for the counters has increased the accuracy of the small corrections needed to yield internal error-multiplication factors mostly between 1 and 1.5 for the background for short periods of up to 12 months, and <1.1 for the oxalic acid samples combined for the last few years of measurements in the laboratory. Similar results were obtained for two counters.
