To improve the fishing efficiency with the gear, it is indispensible to know the distribution of fishing ground and fishing seasons. This study was aimed describing the pole and line fishing gear and its fishing process, mapping the position of skipjack fishing ground landed in Belang Coastal Fishing Port, and predicting the skipjack fishing season, by using a descriptive method. Primary data gained by interviews and direct measurement techniques to know the position of fishing ground during fishing operation, supported by secondary data. Position data of skipjack catches landed at Belang port was plot on the base map as a thematic map. Fishing season was analyzed by comparing the average monthly catches and average total catches for the given year. Fishing ground of pole and line based in Belang Coastal Fishing Port for the year 2012 was situated in Moluccas Sea at geographical position 0000’5.48’’ N - 1016’2.12’’ N and 124004’5.48’’ E - 126022’5.38’’ E. Abstract Poso in Sulawesi, primarily the Lake Poso and Poso River, is known as eel (Anguilla spp.) fishing areas. Therefore, research of eel fishing is required as base information for evaluating and determining policies for its activities. The eel fishing research in the Poso area was conducted through primary data observations, secondary data traces, and interviews from April to June 2021. The fishing activities take place in the Lake Poso and Poso River shore and the rivers of the lake inlets. The fishing gear that contributed greatly to the catch was fence traps and spears. The local community’s fence trap called waya is a unique gear only found in this area, and it is installed in Poso River around the lake outlets. The gears block the rivers to catch downstream migration eels. The spear is fishing gear (including for eels) operated at night in shallow waters, especially in the outlets of Lake Poso. The eel production recorded from the Poso areas for the last four years has been 6.7–15.5 tons per year, and the highest production was in Pamona Puselemba.

Meanwhile, secondary data such as catch production data, development of the number and types of fishing units, the size of the port pool area, and the depth of the waters were taken through the interviews method. The utilization rate of the main facilities utilization of Berea fish landing base are a pier utilization rate of 90.5%, a port pool of 72.5%, a land port 86%, and two meters of water depth are required. Based on the research results, it is found that the long pier is still possible to accommodate ships that are anchored, while the port pool and portland still meet the requirements, however, dredging is necessary for dredging the depth of the waters for shipping in and out of ships. The research is aimed to reveal opportunity development of the capture fisheries in Talaud Islands Regency by using bionomy approach with Gordon-Schaefer model (Fauzy, 2005) con-cerning the dominant of illegal fishing activities around the area. The research was started by co-llected some secondary data on fish production and number of fishing units. Primary data were collected on catch composition and types of fishing gear. Gordon-Schaefer methods was applied to evaluate the tuna and skipjack resources in the area. The troll and pole and line are indicated as the dominant fishing gears used to catch the skipjack and tuna. In case of open access condition, the production will end up to 25,09 tons, while the resource rent will be end up to zero. For the development, simulations were exercised in 3 scenarios: 1) scenario of enhancing domestic fleet, 2) scenario of illegal fishing, and 3) scenario of net surplus. With those scenarios, if the illegal fishing could be eliminated, the capture fisheries in this regency could render economic value to 10 billion rupiah.

This study aims to describe the efforts of female candidates to break the practice of money politics and the influence of shamans in the 2018 Sriharjo subdistrict election (pilkades). The author used qualitative methods with a case study of the Sriharjo village-head election in Bantul Regency. The author collected primary data through interviews, in-depth group discussions, and observations. Secondary data were collected through a literature review, online articles, photos, and video studies of the pilkades process. The findings of this study show the practice of money politics carried out by “snipers,” whose job is to distribute envelopes containing money from house to house from night to dawn one day prior to election day. In addition, candidates also provide assistance and facilities to the community to get their votes. The success team also uses the services of shamans by spreading flowers in certain areas with the aim of spiritually binding people so as not to vote for other candidates. Responding to the competitor’s strategy, the female candidate employed the politics of conscience to empower the community, monitored the snipers of other candidates, built networks, and broke the spiritual powers.
