Agribusiness and local economic development have a close connection. Agricultural development through agribusiness approach has proven to improve local economic development in many countries: increase added value and income of farmers, and create job opportunities for the people. Main commodities grown in Kapuas District, Province of Central Kalimantan are rice, rubber, and fish and livestock products. However, those commodities have not yet developed according to agribusiness principals, since most of them are sold as raw materials, thus the region losses its economic potential from processing those products. The objective of this paper is to explore agribusiness development strategy in Kapuas Regency to be able to contribute to local economic development. To meet this objective, agribusiness in Kapuas Regency should be based on local condition and resources, by considering local agro-ecosystem, social principal (fairness, democracy), economic principal (market oriented, competitiveness, added value, and job opportunity), and supported by sufficient local government policy through institutional, technology and capital development.Keyword: agribusiness, local economy development, competitiveness, added value, Kapuas regency.

This study aims to find a local economic development strategy based on agroindustry to increase Java’s agrotourism sustainable and robust local economy. The research methods used are descriptive quantitative and qualitative. Research respondents are the community, academic practitioners and government officials. The data used covers both external and internal factors that affect the local economy in an agrotourism area and which are then analyzed using SWOT. The results show that the main strength of agrotourism in the IFE matrix is its highly strategic geographical location. The weakness is the lack of planning and business development activity which could have potential economic value. In the EFE matrix, opportunities are the prospects for agrotourism development while the main threat is the community's low interest in business development. In the IE matrix, agrotourism development is found in cell V. This can be handled by maintaining strategies such as market penetration, and market and product development. The study concludes that the local economic development of the community in the agrotourism area can be implemented if the community, practitioners and government are integrated to support the strategy.

With the progress of science and technology, the global economy has gradually shown a trend of integration. Through the last 50 years China has maintained a relatively rapid economic development rate. It is actively participating in the global economic and trade exchange and occupies a pivotal position. In all countries, foreign trade is indispensable in their economies. China also has a long history of agricultural development. The national Chinese economy has moved from the capital intensive and heavy industry-oriented development strategy towards labor-intensive products and was guided by the comparative advantage development strategy. This transformation enabled China to better use of their comparative advantage, and greatly stimulated during the past 30 years of trade and economic growth which helped to achieve remarkable economic development. Main purpose of the article is to reconsider the position and perspectives of China in the global trade of agricultural products, specify industries with the strongest revealed comparative advantage for different agriproducts, outline major strategies for agricultural exportation growth. However, from the perspective of the generation mechanism of the comparative advantage trap, it is still of great significance for China to export labor-intensive products utilizing their comparative advantage. Therefore, on the one hand, China should continue to strengthen the existing comparative advantage; on the other hand, there is a necessity to speed up the introduction of new comparative advantage, so as to relocate the country’s potential quickly from comparative advantage to competitive advantage. The results show that the overall export competitiveness of China's agricultural products is relatively weak and still needs to be further improved. China should adopt measures such as adjusting the structure of the agricultural industry, increasing the added value of agricultural products, enhancing brand effects, and actively developing emerging markets to further enhance the export competitiveness of China’s agricultural products.

Agriculture is the most important area of economic activity for the production of products and services in order to provide the population with quality food, industry with raw materials and promote sustainable development of rural areas. In recent years, there has been a downward trend in the rate of agricultural development, which is lagging behind the growth rate of the Russian economy as a whole. Structural changes in the agro-industrial complex have not produced significant positive results, which is caused by a number of reasons. One of the directions of agricultural policy in Russia is the accelerated development of animal husbandry and increasing the competitiveness of domestic livestock products in the domestic market. The state program for the development of agriculture and regulation of markets for agricultural products, raw materials and food provides for a set of measures for the priority development of animal husbandry. Implementation of these measures requires improved management in order to increase the efficiency of livestock production. The article considers aspects of the formation of accounting and analytical support for management of the livestock industry, economic and statistical analysis of trends and structural changes in the livestock industry. The best practices of Russian scientists in the field of accounting and agricultural Economics are summarized

With the rapid development of tourism, tourism revenue, as one of the important indicators to measure the development of the tourism economy, has high research value. The quasi-prediction of tourism revenue can drive the development of a series of related industries and accelerate the development of the domestic economy. When forecasting tourism income, it is necessary to examine the causal relationship between tourism income and local economic development. The traditional cointegration analysis method is to extract the promotion characteristics of tourism income to the local economy and construct a tourism income prediction model, but it cannot accurately describe the causal relationship between tourism income and local economic development and cannot accurately predict tourism income. We propose an optimized forecasting method of tourism revenue based on time series. This method first conducts a cointegration test on the time series data of the relationship between tourism income and local economic development, constructs a two-variable autoregressive model of tourism income and local economy, and uses the swarm intelligence method to test the causal relationship and the relationship between tourism income and local economic development, calculate the proportion of tourism industry, define the calculation result as the direct influence factor of tourism industry on the local economy, calculate the relevant effect of local tourism development and economic income, and construct tourism income optimization forecast model. The simulation results show that the model used can accurately predict tourism revenue.

Local economic development is one of the means regional governments frequently employ to improve community welfare. However, improper management and development patterns would lead to failure in the implementation of economic development or outside communities may enjoy the benefits of economic development instead. Umbul Ponggok is a community-based tourist destination and it has, to this day, been capable of becoming a source of livelihood for most of the residents living in the area. The community’s involvement at every level of the decision making process and implementation guarantees continuity in the local economy they develop. Additionally, the transparent and accountable management in place ensures the high level of trust people have. Such superior level of trust and involvement was no overnight feat, persistence and wholeheartedness of initiators along with the support of various parties (university, banking institutions, NGO, and others) made certain that the numerous issues encountered were resolved, all challenges overcome, and every opportunity taken.

In recent times, the term ‘local economic development’ has been conceptualised and introduced as a bottom-up participatory development strategy in Ghana. It is intended to be implemented at the district level to facilitate the revitalisation of the local economy and create jobs for local residents. Using in-depth interviews and the analysis of relevant policy documents, this paper evaluates efforts aimed at institutionalising the practice in local institutional frameworks and development planning practice in the country. The paper found out that processes aimed at institutionalising contemporary local economic development practice in Ghana are not making any meaningful impact. Institutional frameworks such as the structuring of development policymaking and planning in the country are still rigid and promote bureaucratic top-down development decision-making processes. Similarly, the promotion of a meaningful bottom-up decentralised planning system is only a well-packaged talk by policymakers in the country. Evidence shows that there is a clear lack of political will to implement reforms, particularly the new decentralisation policy that seeks to make District Assemblies in Ghana responsive to local economic development promotion. There is the need for a conscious effort towards making local economic development practice matter in national and local development endeavour in Ghana.

For over a century in Egypt, the Suez Canal Company reflected the role of the concession in European economic expansion overseas. Concession was a European business practice widespread in Egypt; it was an institution inherited from a system of privileges for Europeans since the Middle Ages. It promised a way for Egypt to adopt modern infrastructures and receive needed European help for digging the canal. The results of the Suez Company are indisputable: the desert of the Suez Isthmus became a lively economic region with active ports, growing cities, and an expanding labor force. And the region was linked to the rest of the country by a new road network. At the same time, however, the concession system denied Egypt full benefit of this infrastructure. The canal served the financial and strategic interests of the company, not the interests of the local economy. This outcome embodied all the contradictions of the concession system: on the one hand, concessions were a necessity for modern infrastructure development in Egypt; on the other, they were a hindrance to further national economic development.
