One of the important factors in the growth of a country's economy is investment. Sources of investment are divided into two, namely foreign investment and domestic investment. There are many benefits of foreign investment. These benefits are such as for development, employment, tax revenue, increasing foreign exchange, international trade, strengthening friendship with foreign countries and much more. The purpose of this research is to modeling of foreign investment in Indonesia using spatial regression. The predictor variables used are the number of labor and the net monthly salary. Based on the results of research analysis obtained information that the West Java province is the highest province to get investment funds from abroad. The highest net monthly salary in Indonesia is DKI Jakarta province. The highest number of labor in Indonesia is West Java Province. Based on the results of the Lagrange Multiplier test which showed a significant Lagrange Multiplier (lag) with a p-value < α = 5%. That's shows for the number of labor, the net monthly salary, and the foreign investment in Indonesia fulfill the spatial dependencies assumption. Based on the spatial regression model shows the number of labor, the net monthly salary, and the weighting has a significant impact on foreign investment in Indonesia.

Do firms investing abroad simultaneously reduce their domestic activity? This paper analyzes the relationship between the domestic and foreign operations of US manufacturing firms between 1982 and 2004 by instrumenting for changes in foreign operations with GDP growth rates of the foreign countries in which they invest. Estimates produced using this instrument indicate that 10 percent greater foreign investment is associated with 2.6 percent greater domestic investment, and 10 percent greater foreign employee compensation is associated with 3.7 percent greater domestic employee compensation. These results do not support the popular notion that expansions abroad reduce a firm's domestic activity, instead suggesting the opposite. (JEL F23, H25, L25)

Tuberculosis (TB) is a contagious infectious disease caused by the bacterium Mycobacterium tuberculosis which can attack various organs, especially the lungs. TB if left untreated or incomplete treatment can cause dangerous complications to death. East Java Province has the second-highest TB case after West Java Province. Therefore we need statistical modeling to analyze the factors that influence TB in East Java Province. The data used in this study were sourced from data from BPS and East Java Provincial Health Offices in 38 districts/cities in East Java Province in 2017. Analysis of data using the OLS regression approach only looked at variable factors but was unable to know the effects of territory. So to overcome this, a spatial regression approach is used by comparing the weight of Queen Contiguity and the results of the k-means cluster analysis to obtain the best model. Based on the results of the analysis, the spatial aspects of the data have met the assumptions of spatial dependencies using the Moran's I test with a p-value of 0.000001295. The weighting matrix used is the k-means cluster weighting matrix k = 2. The test results obtained by the Spatial Autoregressive Moving Average (SARMA) model selected as the best model with the value of the deterrence coefficient (R2) and Akaike Info Criterion (AIC), 87.10% and 586.69. The factors that significantly influence the number of Tuberculosis patients in each district/city in East Java are population density (X2) and the number of healthy houses (X9).

In the conditions of self-isolation, a small and medium business suffered as a result of a pandemic, however, large business remained afloat due to large “long money”. Large business in Kazakhstan is mainly a raw material business, i.e., the mining industry, as a priority, has not suspended its activities. The tasks in the field of attracting investment remained the same. For Kazakhstan, in the direction of attracting foreign investment, firstly, it is worth identifying competitive sectors of the economy. Secondly, clearly understand the key factors in the development of these industries. Thirdly, to conduct a comparative analysis and assess the advantages and disadvantages in relation to other countries, which will be the main competitors in this industry. Fourth, identify potential investors. Fifth, optimize the activities of the coordinating agency or body that is responsible for investments in Kazakhstan. For US investors, the stock market in Kazakhstan is very small. It presents mainly companies in the mining and financial sectors of the economy, as well as the public sector. The limited financing opportunities in the stock market do not allow providing higher returns on investment funds, and this in turn negatively affects the influx of potential investors and investors.

Foreign direct investment (FDI) flows into Vietnam have increased significantly in recent years and are distributed unequally between provinces. This paper aims to investigate the locational determinants of FDI in 62 Vietnamese provinces and whether spatial dependence is a significant factor that both researchers and policy-makers should take into account. We report that province-specific per-capita income, secondary education enrolment, labor costs, openness to trade, and domestic investment affect FDI directly within the province itself and have indirect effects on FDI in neighboring provinces. The direct and indirect effects coexist with spill-over effects and spatial dependence between provinces. Our findings indicate that FDI in Vietnam reflects a combination of complex vertical and export platform motivations on the part of foreign investors; and an agglomeration dynamics that may perpetuate the existing regional disparities in the distribution of FDI capital between provinces.

AbstractExisting research has found that American politicians benefit from trying to attract investment and creates jobs. In this paper, we build on this work by describing the drivers of Americans' attitudes toward inward foreign investment (FDI). We posit that foreign and Chinese investment are different than domestic investment in the public imagination and that nationalism and proximity to deindustrialization interact to shape public opinion about them. We propose and test two theories of this interaction using a survey experiment that randomizes whether a respondent is responding to a statement about “business investment,” “foreign business investment,” or “Chinese business investment”. We find that (1) Americans are skeptical of business investments by Chinese, and, to lesser degree, “foreign” firms; (2) the gap in enthusiasm for generic business investment and foreign/Chinese business investment rises with local trade-related job losses; and (3) the distinction between nationalists' and non-nationalists' attitudes toward FDI declines in local job losses.

This paper using data of China's Industrial Sector in 1996 -2010, selecting the stochastic frontier production function model, estimating the rate of change of total factor productivity in various industries, gets the level of technological progress in various industries. On this basis, domestic and foreign investment in 1996 -2010 data, were used based on the panel data model to study the impact of the level of domestic and foreign investment in industrial sectors of technological progress. The empirical results show that the industrial technological progress in the vast majority of the industry comes from domestic investment or foreign investment, the individual industry even at the same time by the dual effects of domestic and foreign investment, When the industry is characterized by high degree of market competition and foreign investment to domestic investment proportion is higher, technological progress is more inclined to come from domestic investment, the contrary is more inclined to come from foreign investment.

Subject The business climate in Russia. Significance Russia's hydrocarbon resources and large consumer market have to date attracted the bulk of foreign direct investment (FDI). The government actively promotes foreign investment to fund production and bring in advanced technology. Low economic growth and Western sanctions -- current and possible -- discourage both foreign and domestic investment. A legal battle around the Baring Vostok investment company and the arrest of founder Michael Calvey further dented investor confidence this year. Impacts Russia's geography makes inclusion in global production value chains a challenge, except in locations near East Asian markets. Plans for government spending on transport infrastructure could reduce logistics costs and stimulate FDI inflows into Russia's far east. More stringent data handling and protection rules will discourage foreign investment in the IT sector.
