In this chapter, the Success Factors (SFs) for IT Outsourcing (ITO) are explored. The research literature has a bias towards large companies, neglecting medium-sized companies. Moreover, no comparative studies regarding the SFs were found related to the size of companies. These circumstances force medium-sized buyers to turn to practitioner literature, which is dominated by guidelines produced by the providers. Therefore, this chapter identifies the research problem: the lack of knowledge about ITO SFs for medium size companies, including whether SFs for large companies, are applicable for medium-sized ones as well. The used case study research shows that medium-sized companies should use the SFs from large companies. However, 2 out of 11 studied SFs have better efficiency for large companies. This result helps medium-sized companies' ITO decision makers understand the SFs of ITO and thus closes the research gap. Implementing the right SFs should improve the ITO performance.

This article examines the influence of contract life cycle management on procurement performance of Local Governments in Uganda using Bugiri District as the case study. The three specific objectives of this study were to: examine the influence of contract creation on procurement performance; to assess the influence of contract execution on procurement performance and lastly, to determine the influence of contract analysis on procurement performance. The researcher employed a descriptive case study research design. Using a researcher’s made five point Likert scale questionnaire, data was collected from a sample of respondents. Seventy (70) respondents out of a population of eighty (80) were selected using purposive and random sampling techniques (response rate of 94.3%). Data was analyzed using means and the regression analysis. Findings revealed that; the extent to which contract creation predicts performance was low (r2 = 0.36, Sig. Value= 0.000); the extent to which contract execution influences procurement performance was low (r2 = 0.34, Sig. Value = 0.003) and lastly, the extent to which contract analysis influences procurement performance was moderate (r2 =0.44, Sig. Value = 0.001). On the other hand, findings revealed that contract management at Bugiri District local government in Uganda highly and positively influences procurement performance (R2= 0.779 Sig. Value= 0.000). This implies that where each of these variables; contract creation, execution and analysis are handled separately, each has a low influence on procurement performance. However if handled wholesomely, results show that high procurement performance (78%) will be achieved. In light of this, the researcher therefore concludes that; practioneers, managers and civil servants at Bugiri District should adopt a holistic approach in contract management, if procurement performance is to be maximized. Doi: 10.28991/HEF-2020-01-01-03 Full Text: PDF

Abstract. The goal was to create and implement a low-volume / high-intensity resistance training periodization program to enhance three physical qualities: strength, endurance and speed, through exercises performed inside and outside of the pool. The research is a descriptive case study, aimed at a swimming athlete with 15 years of age functional motor disability who presents agenesis in the right and left upper limbs and also a dysmetria in the lower right limb, shorter in 5 cm. The results of the program show improvements in the 4 times evaluated in 100 meters, increases in the explosive power of the jump of power and changes in the corporal composition of the athlete. The conclusion of the research was that the inverse periodization resistance program proved to be efficient, and should be taken into account for the planning of work in swimmers in a situation of disability where the greatest progress was obtained in the crol style, obtained a decrease in test time in 5.06 seconds.

It seems that Indonesia has not yet found the right method in implementing procedural democracy to elect legislative and executive members directly. Every election from time to time still always leaves problems. The problem to be discussed and analyzed in this study is how the application of Law Number 7 of 2017 Article 372 concerning Voting (PSU) and analyze the social problems that arise in its implementation. The research method used in this study is the normative-empirical legal research method with the live case study research category with the research category that is the legal events that the process is ongoing. As for the source of research in the form of normative legal provisions namely Law Number 7 of 2017 Article 372 as well as technical rules made with respect to these norms. The analysis shows that the implementation of the regulations made resulted in various social problems. PSU raises new problems for voters, election organizers, and election participants. A phenomenon in the form of decreased participation rates, the potential for anxiety pressure within the community because of excessive attention from officials and candidates to the distortion of preference preferences in the implementation of the PSU. The problems that arise are then expected to be considered so that the implemented PSU becomes the most appropriate solution but can still optimally minimize social problems in the community that may arise.

Background Young adults often browse the internet for self-triage and diagnosis. More sophisticated digital platforms such as symptom checkers have recently become pervasive; however, little is known about their use. Objective The aim of this study was to understand young adults’ (18-34 years old) perspectives on the use of the Google search engine versus a symptom checker, as well as to identify the barriers and enablers for using a symptom checker for self-triage and self-diagnosis. Methods A qualitative descriptive case study research design was used. Semistructured interviews were conducted with 24 young adults enrolled in a university in Ontario, Canada. All participants were given a clinical vignette and were asked to use a symptom checker (WebMD Symptom Checker or Babylon Health) while thinking out loud, and were asked questions regarding their experience. Interviews were audio-recorded, transcribed, and imported into the NVivo software program. Inductive thematic analysis was conducted independently by two researchers. Results Using the Google search engine was perceived to be faster and more customizable (ie, ability to enter symptoms freely in the search engine) than a symptom checker; however, a symptom checker was perceived to be useful for a more personalized assessment. After having used a symptom checker, most of the participants believed that the platform needed improvement in the areas of accuracy, security and privacy, and medical jargon used. Given these limitations, most participants believed that symptom checkers could be more useful for self-triage than for self-diagnosis. Interestingly, more than half of the participants were not aware of symptom checkers prior to this study and most believed that this lack of awareness about the existence of symptom checkers hindered their use. Conclusions Awareness related to the existence of symptom checkers and their integration into the health care system are required to maximize benefits related to these platforms. Addressing the barriers identified in this study is likely to increase the acceptance and use of symptom checkers by young adults.
