This study describes the implementation of teachers� elicitation in speaking class of English Department of Ar-raniry Islamic State University. It attempts to investigate types of elicitation used by the lecturers in speaking class and the most frequent type. The participants of this study were five lecturers of speaking classes and hence ten teaching sessions were video-recorded and transcribed in order to analyze lecturers� utterance that indicates teachers� elicitation. Quantitative and qualitative method were employed where the data were obtained from observation and interview by means of video recorder, field-notes, observation sheet and interview guide. Technique of data analysis was followed Miles�s & Huberman�s (1992) model including data reduction, data display, and conclusion. The results of this study revealed six types of elicitations; elicit:inform, elicit:confirm, elicit:agree, elicit:commit, elicit:repeat, and elicit:clarify were used by the lecturers in teaching speaking. It is also found elicit:inform was the most frequent type of elicitation used which reached 72.23%. This indicates that the lecturers frequently used elicitation to invite students to speak.

This research aimed at discovering the staff’s lecturing styles at The Early Childhood Education Program, The School of Education, The State University of Jakarta based on four types: formal authority, personal model or demonstrator, fasilitator, dan delegator. The research conducted in September2011 through January 2012, employed descriptive qualitative method with the researcher acting as the instrument. Data were collected by observation, interview, and document study techniques to be validated in triangulation and member check. Data analysis used the procedures of data reduction, data display, and verification/conclusion. The findings indicate that the staff tend to practise facilitator lecturing style oriented on the students and the staff initate various activities involving the students to improve and develop their competence. Based on the research findings, the staff are recommended to improve their professional competence properly.

Penelitian ini berjudul akuisisi bahan pustaka perpustakaan jurusan pendidikan bahasa inggris fakultas tarbiyah dan keguruan universitas islam negeri antasari banjarmasin. Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui bagaimana sistem pengadaan bahan pustaka di perpustakaan jurusan pendidikan bahasa inggris fakultas tarbiyah dan keguruan universitas islam negeri antasari banjarmasin. Sampel dari penelitian ini adalah pustakawan di jurusan pendidikan bahasa inggris fakultas tarbiyah dan keguruan universitas islam negeri antasari banjarmasin. Metode penilitan menggunakan metode kualitatif, teknik pengumpulan data yang digunakan adalah observasi, wawancara dan dokumentasi. Hasil dari penelitian ini menunjukan bahwa perpustakaan memerlukan staf tambahan yang sesuai dengan ahli ilmu perpustakaan, dana yang di dapat untuk pengadaan bahan pustaka tidak menentu di setiap bulan bahkan tahun, perpustakaan belum mempuynyai SOP dalam pengadaan bahan pustaka secara tertulis. Prosedur pemilihan bahan pustaka di tentukan oleh dosen, staf, pustakawan dan mahasiswa. Sistem pengadaan bahan pustaka melalui pembelian, hadiah dan sumbangan. ABSTRACT This research entitled Library Acquisition of English Department Major of the Tarbiyah Faculty Islamic State University of Antasari Banjarmasin. The purpose of this study is to know how is the acquisition library system at English Department Major of the Tarbiyah Faculty Islamic State University of Antasari Banjarmasin. The sample from this study is librarian English Department Major of the Tarbiyah Faculty Islamic State University of Antasari Banjarmasin. The methodology research using a qualitative method. Data collection technique used observation, interview, and documentation. The findings of this research show that the library needs more staff under the field of library experts, the budget for acquisition not stabilized in every month or year, the library has not a standard operating procedure in library acquisition written. The acquisition includes the selection of library materials conducted by lecturers, staffs, librarians, and students. The library acquisition system is implemented through purchases, gifts or grants and contribution.

The aim of this study were to find out category shift types used in thetranslation of novel To Kill A Bird and to describe of how category shift is translatedin the novel from English into Indonesian. This study were conducted by usingdescriptive qualitative method. The data of the study were words, phrases, andclauses in the novel To Kill A Mockingbird which is translated into Indonesian byFemmy Syahrianni. It was found that there were 280 data in the novel from Englishinto Indonesian. The data analysis were taken by listing and bolding. Documentarysheets used as the instrument to collect the data. The data were analyzed based onMiles and Huberman (2014) by condensation which consists of selecting, focusing,simplifying, abstracting and transforming and then data display by using table inorder to get easy analyzing the data. The result of this study were (1) there were fourtypes of category shifts found in the novel To Kill a Mockingbird namely; structureshifts (36.78%), class shift (27.14%), unit shift (32.5%) and intra-system shift(3.27%). (2) The process of category shifts in the translation novel by havingmodifier-head in source language changed into head-modifier in target language,adverb in source language changed into verb in target language, one unit in sourcelanguage changed into some units in target language. and plural in source languagechanged into singular in target language.

The purpose of this study was to investigate the cultural values in the ritual of Bulangan Londong Sembangan Suke Barata as part of the Toraja indigenous people life. The research method used in this study is a qualitative method. Meanwhile, the respondents involved in this study include culturist, linguists, and the Toraja community. The research instruments used in this study were document files, interviews with the subjects, and observations using a video recorder that recorded the ritual process of Bulangan Londong Sembangan Suke Barata. The data analysis technique in this study includes three main steps, namely data reduction, data presentation, and drawing conclusions. The results showed that the cultural values contained in the rituals of the Bulang Londong Sembangan Suke Barata were 'Manuk' which symbolized the value of the work ethic, 'Ussembang Suke Barata' which represented the religious value of bamboo slashed by 'Mina', and 'Kayunan Londong' which personifies the leader's patriotic value.Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk menyelidiki nilai-nilai budaya dari ritual bulangan londong sembangan suke barata dari masyarakat adat Toraja. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode kualitatif. Responden penelitian ini adalah budayawan, ahli bahasa, dan komunitas Toraja. Instrumen penelitian yang digunakan adalah file dokumen, wawancara dengan subjek, dan pengamatan dengan menggunakan perekam video pada ritual bulangan londong sembangan suke barata. Teknik analisis data mencakup tiga langkah utama, pengurangan data, presentasi data, dan penarikan kesimpulan. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa nilai-nilai budaya yang terkandung dalam ritual bulangan londong sembangan suke barata adalah manuk yang melambangkan nilai etos kerja, ussembang suke barata yang mewakili nilai religius bambu yang ditebas oleh mina, dan kayunan londong sebagai personifikasi nilai patriotik pemimpin.

Al Washliyah merupakan satu di antara banyak organisasi Islam yang menolak paham dan gerakan terorisme di Indonesia. Artikel ini mengkaji respons Al Washliyah terhadap terorisme. Kajian ini menarik dilakukan, sebab organisasi ini memiliki pengikut yang fanatik dan mengelola amal usaha yang banyak, tetapi masih relatif jarang diteliti oleh para peneliti. Kajian ini merupakan studi lapangan (library research) dimana sumber datanya diperoleh dari kegiatan wawancara dan studi dokumen. Data dianalisis dengan menggunakan metode analisis data menurut Miles dan Huberman: reduksi data, pemaparan data, dan penarikan kesimpulan. Didasari dengan teori Matusitz, Pranawati, dan Golose tentang doktrin terorisme dimana gerakan ini ingin mendirikan negara Islam, memaknai jihad sebagai perang, anti terhadap non-Muslim, dan melegalkan bom bunuh diri, kajian ini akan menelaah respons Al Washliyah terhadap empat persoalan tersebut. Kajian ini mengajukan temuan bahwa Al Washliyah menolak paham dan gerakan terorisme yang muncul dan berkembang di Indonesia, dan para ulamanya menilai bahwa kaum teroris telah salah dalam memahami ajaran Islam. Temuan kajian ini dapat berkontribusi bagi pemerintah dalam upaya menanggulangi gerakan terorisme di Indonesia. Al Washliyah is one of Islamic organizations that rejects the concept of terrorism in Indonesia. This article examines Al Washliyah's responses to terrorism. This study is interesting because this organization has fanatic followers and manages many business charities, but rarely investigated by researchers. This research is field studies where the data sources obtained from the interviews activities and document studies. Data were analyzed by using data analysis method according to Miles and Huberman: data reduction, data display, and conclusion. Based on the theory of Matusitz, Pranawati, and Golose about terrorism doctrine in which the program wants to establish an Islamic state, interpret jihad as war, anti to non-Muslims, and legalize suicide bombings, this study will examine the Al Washliyah's responses to those four issues. This study proposes that Al Washliyah rejects the concept of terrorism which appears and develops in Indonesia, and ulama consider that terrorists have misunderstood on Islamic concept. The findings of this study may contribute to the government in combating terrorism movement in Indonesia.

<p>This research focused on fostering students’ critical thinking through Project-Based Learning. The design of the research was descriptive qualitative method. The subjects were the lecturer of TEFL 1 course and 25 students in C class of the fourth semester of STAIN Ponorogo who took TEFL 1 course. The instruments used are in the form of observation sheet and interview guideline. The data analysis applied in this research used data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing. The findings showed that the implementation Project-Based Learning that fosters the students’ critical thinking in TEFL class are through the following steps: (1) Discussing the materials about English Language Teaching Method, (2) working with the group to construct scenario of teaching practice, (3) practicing the scenario, (4) recording the teaching practice into video, and (5) evaluating the video product. Moreover, the result of interview indicates that the students showed significantly positive attitude toward the implementation of Project-Based Learning. Finally, English teachers are recommended to implement Project-Based Learning in EFL class since it facilitates the students to build their critical thinking.</p><p><strong>Keywords:</strong> <em>critical thinking, Project-Based Learning</em></p>

The purpose of this study is to describe the results of the analysis of the ability to understand cognitive mathematics in the material "angles" when using video learning with an online system in class IV B SDN Pintukisi Sukabumi City. The research method used is descriptive qualitative method. Data collection techniques used were interviews and documentation. The writer acts as an instrument for collecting data. Data analysis techniques used are according to Miles and Huberman which consists of data reduction, data display, and Conclusion Drawing/Verification. The research subjects used were grade IV B students in the 2019/2020 school year. The number of students is 20 people. The results showed how to understand mathematics in the angles material, 2 students got the highest grades and 12 students got grades less than KKM.The results revealed that the cognitive understanding ability of students in class IV B based on the first indicator can be categorized high, the second indicator is categorized high, and the third indicator can be said to be very low.

ABSTRAKKajian sastra lisan dan musikologi memiliki keterkaitan yang belum banyak diungkapkan. Tulisan ini ingin menunjukkan bahwa musik merupakan bingkai kelisanan untuk menggiring sebuah keteraturan dalam pengkalimatan karya sastra lisan Yugoslavia. Hal tersebut diteliti dengan menggunakan metode kualitatif. Analisis data dilakukan melalui tiga tahap, yaitu reduksi data, penyajian data, dan mengambil kesimpulan kemudian melakukan verifikasi. Data yang diperoleh bersumber dari buku The Singer of Tales tulisan Albert B Lord yang mencakup penjelasan mengenai teori formula dalam sastra lisan Yugoslavia. Data tersebut dianalisis menggunakan teori bentuk dan struktur musikal Leon Stein. Komposisi dalam karya kelisanan tersebut dikaji melalui teori formula Lord. Dalam hal ini, pelantun mengingat perulangan dan menciptakan melalui analogi dengan perulangan kata, frasa, klausa, dan larik yang telah ada. Terdapat proses akumulasi, kombinasi, dan pemodelan kembali terhadap formula yang telah ada. Dengan demikian setiap pelantun memiliki gayanya masing-masing dalam penceritaan karya sastra lisan tersebut, namun setiap pelantun selalu memiliki jumlah suku kata yang sama dalam setiap pengkalimatan.  Hal ini dapat terjadi dikarenakan rasa musikal yang dipakai. Para pelantun tidak pernah menghitung jumlah suku kata yang ada namun keteraturan tersebut dapat terjadi karena adanya rasa musikal. Kata kunci: teori formula, Albert B Lord, sastra lisan, musikologi. ABSTRACTStudy of oral literature and a discipline named musicology have a linkage that has never been very often expressed yet. This paper is to reveal that music is an oral frame to bring a regularity in making sentences of oral literature  works in Yugoslavia. Such a thing is researched using a qualitative method. Data analysis is done through three steps, they are data reduction, data display, and conclusion and verification. The data is taken from a book entitled The Singer by Albert B Lord containing his theoretical formula concerning the oral literature in Yugoslavia. It is analysed by using a theory of musical form and structure by Leon Stein. Compositions in the oral literature is seen using Lord’s theory of formula. In this case, a singer remembers the repetition and creates it by analogy by the way of repeating  the existing words, phrases, clauses, and arrays. There is a process of re-accumulating,  re-combinating, and re-modelling the existing formula. So, the singer has his or her own style in expressing the works of the oral literature, but he or she always has the same number of syllables in every sentence. This can happen due to the musical taste used. The singer never count the number of syllables that exists but such regularity can occur due to the musical taste.Keywords: formula theory, Albert B Lord, musicology, oral literature.

Learning could be effective and efficient, if the teacher has appropriately learning strategy as well the ability of the students, especially for disable students. So then the teacher’s strategy as teaching PAI is very important. The problem of this research is focused on how the teachers strategy on teaching PAI for disable students of SMPLB-YPPC Banda Aceh.Moreover, the objective of this research is to figure out the strategy of the teacher on teaching PAI for disable students of SMPLB-YPPC Banda Aceh. Research design used in this research is descriptive qualitative method. Then, the location of this research is SMPLB-YPPC Banda Aceh. Subjects of this research are a headmaster and 2 PAI teachers. Method of data collection that used in this research is observation, interview and documentary. The instrument used here is a list of interviews and observations. The technique of data analysis is data reduction, data display, and data verification. The result displays 1) strategy of the teacher on teaching PAI in SMPLB-YPPC Banda Aceh: a) individual groups, b) cooperative, c) behavior modification. 2) Supporting and inhabiting factors on teaching PAI in SMPLB-YPPC Banda Aceh: a) inhabiting factors are students’ parents have less concern, disability of disable students and learning media. 3) Implementation on teaching PAI strategy in SMPLB-YPPC Banda Aceh: a) lesson plan, b) learning implementation, c) evaluation.

This current study was intended to investigate the student point of views on the use of authentic materials (AMs) used in the process of teaching and learning speaking at the first semester in English Department, IKIP Budi Utomo Malang. A descriptive qualitative was employed to portray the intended data. The data were revealed from 22 students experiencing learning speaking by using authentic materials (AMs). To help the researcher, as the key instrument, to obtain the data, the researcher used an interview guide. To make the data display clear, the findings were classified into three classes; they were students’ views on the use of videos, student’ views on dialogues used in Basic Speaking, and students’s point of views on the pictures used as Ams. In general, the interview results showed that AMs were basically interesting, motivating, providing information on how the language used and how English culture is, raising students’ feeling of confidence. In term of the comprehensibility of the materials, however, only a few students stated that the presented materials were understandable; while the others thought that they could not understand the AMs because the spoken communication made by native speakers was too fast. Based on the findings, it can be concluded that the teaching material presented in the Basic Speaking class viewed in positive manners by the students. Some students, however, found that the materials, especially conversation made by native speakers, were seen incomprehensible as the models in the video spoke too fast and used long sentences. This informed the teachers that even though AMs were found to be beneficial, AMs should be carefully selected; by so doing, it is expected that the AMs will opt to the students’ level.
