Involvement students in the co-curricular of uniformed bodies is one of the significant alternatives in the effort to apply elements of soft skills among students in IPT. This study is a longitudinal survey study aimed at measuring the level of mastery of soft skills among 912 students who took a uniformed body co-curriculum course. There are seven attributes of insaniah skill (soft skill) for IPT students as outlined by the Ministry of Higher Education Malaysia (KPTM) including communication skills, leadership, teamwork, critical thinking and problem solving, lifelong learning, entrepreneurship and professional moral ethics skills (KPT 2006) applied . Statistical Package for Social Science Version 20 software was used to analyze the findings of this study. The results show that there is a change in the mastery of the mastery of the seven soft skills among students before and after joining the uniformed body.

The study is a descriptive survey study that aims to see the level of soft skills among Islamic Studies students’ courses. A total of 346 samples from a population of 955 students in Bachelor courses of Islamic Studies from a public university participated in the study. Seven attributes of soft skills (soft skills) for university students as outlined by the Ministry of Higher Education Malaysia (MOHE) which include communication skills, leadership, teamwork, critical thinking and problem solving, lifelong learning, entrepreneurship and professional skills moral ethics were adopted. Data for this study were collected through a questionnaire and analyzed using SPSS version 17.0. Min analysis shows that students master the six constituents of soft skills at a high level unless entrepreneurial skills at moderate level. The highest skill mastered was teamwork skills, followed by learning skills and information management skills, leadership skills, critical thinking skills and problem solving, communication skills and moral and professional ethics. Entrepreneurial skills which was mastered the least need to be improved to encourage Islamic studies graduate to join entrepreneurship. The study recommends that the students to pursue other professional fields without forgetting the noble role to preach the message of Islam in any career endeavor. Abstrak Kajian ini merupakan kajian tinjauan secara deskriptif bertujuan untuk melihat tahap penguasaan kemahiran insaniah pelajar kursus Pengajian Islam. Seramai 346 sampel daripada 955 orang populasi pelajar Ijazah Sarjana Muda Kursus Pengajian Islam daripada sebuah universiti awam tempatan terlibat dalam kajian. Tujuh attribut kemahiran insaniah (softskill) untuk pelajar IPT seperti yang digariskan oleh Kementerian Pengajian Tinggi Malaysia (KPTM) merangkumi kemahiran komunikasi, kepimpinan, kerja berpasukan, berfikir kritis dan penyelesaian masalah, pembelajaran sepanjang hayat, keusahawanan dan kemahiran etika moral profesional (KPT 2006) digunapakai. Data kajian ini telah diperoleh melalui soal selidik dan dianalisis menggunakan prisian SPSS versi 17.0. Analisis min menunjukkan pelajar menguasai enam juzuk kemahiran insaniah pada tahap tinggi kecuali kemahiran keusahawanan pada tahap sederhana tinggi. Kemahiran yang paling tinggi dikuasai ialah kemahiran kerja berpasukan diikuti kemahiran pembelajaran berterusan dan pengurusan maklumat, kemahiran kemahiran kepimpinan, kemahiran pemikiran kritis dan penyelesaian masalah, kemahiran komunikasi dan kemahiran etika moral dan profesional. Kemahiran keusahawanan yang paling rendah dikuasai perlu dipertingkatkan sebagai usaha menggalakkan graduan pengajian Islam menceburi bidang keusahawanan. Kajian mencadangkan pelajar Pengajian Islam menceburi bidang-bidang profesional yang lainnya tanpa melupakan peranan mulia sebagai penyebar mesej keislaman dan pendakwah dalam apa jua karier yang diceburi.

Nowadays, business is very challenging and competitive, so it requires employers to hire multitasking employees. Therefore, students should be learning soft skills linked with industrial requirements. Accounting students should have added value, such as good soft skills, which may lead to higher employability. Higher education institutions need to play a role to provide a curriculum that emphasizes soft skills such as communication skills, time management, and problem solving. This study discusses these skills for accounting graduates during their studies at higher education institutions. Without better soft skills, it is very tough for future accountants to be hired. Higher employability linked with better soft skills may enhance the public’s perception of the accounting field.

Background: Studies showed that SCL improved quality of medical education through knowledge acquisition, class performance, students’ attitude and soft skills. Although research about SCL and its impact has been widely known, overall correlation of SCL to the class performances has not yet been established. Strong correlation between SCL to class performances would serve the purpose of teaching and learning and more importantly would answer the skepticism of institution or faculty members in implementing SCL. In addition, learning through systematic review of others’ studies, how SCL influenced soft skill aspects would be benefited for medical educators. Soft skills such as learning motivation, communication skills, and teamwork may lead educators to the favor of SCL approaches. This review was to find the correlation of student-centered learning to the students’ performances and soft skill aspects in medical education.Method: To find the correlation of the SCL and class performances, we used meta-analysis. We also performed a systematic review to qualitatively find the relationship between SCL and other aspects, such as teamwork, communication skills, and learning motivation. Literatures were filtered from databases of: Proquest, Springerlink, Biomed Central (BMC) open, BMJ open, and Google Scholar. The inclusion criteria were published empirical articles (2000-2013) reported SCL’s effect on class performances or other aspects (learning motivation, teamwork, communication skills). We utilized PRISMA protocol to filter the inclusion articles. By reading abstracts and further snowballing searching, we found 12 articles for the meta-analysis and 33 articles for the systematic review.                                                                 Results: Among 12 articles of the meta-analysis, 9 articles showed positive correlation between SCL and class performances. Three studies reported that SCL had no effect on the class performances. None of the articles reported any negative impact. We utilized the Comprehensive Meta-Analysis software to analyze the data and found r = 0.46 and 95% CI: 0.32 - 0.57. It showed a statistically significant correlation between SCL and class performances. On the systematic review, we found that SCL improved communication skills, team work, and learning motivation.Conclusion: From the meta-analysis we found that SCL improved class performances about 46%. It was showed that SCL methods were superior in improving soft skills such as communication skills, teamwork, and learning motivation.

The article presents the results of the preliminary survey and pilot application of the methodological toolkit for the improvement of certain competencies, which are part of the soft skills of professionals in the long-term care sector in Bulgaria. Based on the survey the authors define 2 target competencies, namely conflict management and empathic interaction. These skills are considered a part of the scope of emotional intelligence and its constituent dimensions and authors use Daniel Goleman’s ability-based model as a base for their conceptual frame and theoretical explanations. In order to present their thesis, the authors perform a soft skill analysis of the long-term care sector; define the construct emotional intelligence and justify their choice of a theoretical model for the subsequent survey. On this basis, they develop a training design for the development of these skills and present the results achieved through its pilot application. The study includes 62 participants randomly divided into a test and control groups. The level of targeted skills is measured (before and after) and the authors report a significant increase in those skills (empathic interaction, net effect 1.87; conflict management, net effect 1.75). In conclusion, the authors open a discussion on the importance of emotional management as an essential part of any profession related to health care and underline its importance for the quality of caregiving services.

<p>The importance of developing soft skills competency among students should be the priority of all the Higher Educational Institutions (HEIs) in order to ensure their graduates are marketable. Therefore, it is essential for HEIs to distinguish the knowledge and soft skill levels of their students so that strategies and intervention could be implemented to rectify their capabilities. The main purpose of this study is to evaluate the knowledge and soft skills competency from the employer’s viewpoints on the Universiti Utara Malaysia (UUM) students participating in the industrial training programme. A total of 438 employers from different industrial backgrounds had participated in this study. A questionnaire consisting of five dimensions of soft skills which are basic knowledge, communication skills, practical skills, leadership, and attitude was utilized to collect data. The results of this study indicate that the employers were satisfied with the knowledge and soft skills competency portrayed by UUM students in preparing themselves for the real work environment. The employers from the service sectors were satisfied with students’ performance in all dimensions of soft skills measured. However, employers from the factory and commerce sector perceived as moderate satisfaction for all dimensions of soft skills. Additionally, the employers of the factory and commerce sector assessed by giving the lowest satisfaction score for “hands-on” skills, but generally they satisfied with the students’ communication skills. The information gathered can provide important insights from the perspective of organizations which is valuable in improving the overall hard and soft skills competency for future professionals and managers.</p>

Traveling not only creates fun for tourists. Tourism activities are believed to also improving human resources ability. It is a significant aspect related to human resource capacity that soft skills ownership which can be trained to modern travellers through ecotourism activities. This descriptive qualitative study describes soft skills trained to tourists from among younger generation in ecotourism destinations. Statement of the problem in this research is what is the relevance between ecotourism and soft skill ownership? This study identifies soft skills trained in ecotourism activities that are interpersonal skills characterized by communication skills, like others, have empathy and concern, warm, forgiving, open, adaptive and self-control abilities. The interpersonal skills that are part of this soft skill are believed to be important and will help younger generation to succeed in living their lives.

This study aims to analyze the project-based learning model on the soft skills of SMK students. The Project-Based Learning model requires students to have skills in solving a problem. The approach used in this research is quantitative using ex-post facto research, the type of correlation research. The sample used for the study was 170 students. The results of the study found a significant influence between the Project-Based Learning Model in the Network Infrastructure Administration Subject on students' communication skills, discipline, responsibility, creativity, and collaboration. Through the Project-Based Learning model, teachers are advised to often train students to complete tasks that can improve students' soft skills in other subjects.

The article considers the relevance of the acquisition and development of masters ’ soft skills. The objective of this article is to get acquainted with the soft skills system required by a future translator/interpreter in his or her professional activity and to highlight the opportunities for gaining and developing these skills during Master ’ study programme "Translation (English)". The theoretical analysis to determine the list of "soft skills" as important components of the competitiveness of future translators was conducted. The list of flexible skills for applicants of the second (master's) level of higher education is systematized. Based on the analysis of researchers' approaches to the classification of soft skills, the following three groups of soft skills were distinguished: social and communication skills (communication skills, interpersonal skills, group work, leadership, social intelligence, responsibility, ethics of communication); cognitive skills (critical thinking, problem-solving skills, innovative thinking, intellectual workload management, self-study skills, time management); personal qualities and components of emotional intelligence (emotional intelligence, honesty, optimism, flexibility, creativity, motivation and empathy). It should be noted that, within each category and between categories, individual skills and qualities interact. It is clear that different types of soft skills are a priority for different activities. The results of a survey of Master’ students and teachers of Alfred Nobel University, Dnipro are presented. Respondents were asked to determine the list of the most priority soft skills of competitive translation professionals and to determine the degree of their importance. An experience analysis singled out two approaches to the soft skills formation today - to teach directly by introducing separate courses within the variant component of the study programme and to combine all disciplines in with non-formal education and extracurricular activities. The training course "Fundamentals of Translation Activity" is described here, the content of which is naturally combined with the traditional subjects of the professional training cycle, and the implementation of interactive teaching methods aimed at developing "soft skills" in future translators is presented. Through the implementation of dialogical and discussion methods of training using the techniques of synectics, game teaching methods involving modeling of professional situations, joint analysis and problem solving, our results can demonstrate the ability of Master’s students to reflect on their own experience and individual characteristics necessary to develop soft skills. The findings provide a potential mechanism of the following techniques to implement the aforementioned game methods selected for training: reflection, advisory group, role rotation, support, interlocutor chair, mute assistant, replay and placement. To develop soft skills in post graduate students it is necessary to choose some facilitation methods (World Cafe, Open Space, Anti-Brainstorming, Dynamic Facilitation). Superior results could be seen for one more pedagogical technique, project work, which involves the "immersion " in the teaching material, determination of the personality of their emotional and value attitude to it and improving the efficiency of assimilation.

The success of a person in a career work is not only determined by his or her technical capability, but also the non-technical skills which is so called ‘soft-skills’.  It is an attitude which is exemplified among the cognitive and values in the interaction with people around. Several identified falures in the community’s life indicate that many Islamic university graduates suffered from lack of ability to build  harmonious relationship with the environment.  Therefore, it is a high time for this institution to consistently instil some types of soft-skills on the parts of the students.  The current study shares the urgent needs for developing students’ soft-skills for Islamic colleges and universities. The paper ends up with several conclusions while promoting some commitments to be held by the faculty development including: the identification of soft-skills that have already existed in the students’ minds and which need to be developed, the exploration of soft skills attributes for the next 5 years based on the inspiration or opinion of the stake holders and alumnaes, the setting of action plan for academic and non-cademic agendas, acting out the planned activities, as well as the sustainable blue-print of valid soft-skills. Copyright © 2014 by Al-Ta'lim All right reserved

This research is aimed at (1) identifying the types of hard skills and soft skills incorporated in Hizbul Wathan extracurricular at SMK (Vocational School) Muhammadiyah Semin (2) identifying the reinforcement of hard skills and soft skills within Hizbul Wathan extracurricular (3) identifying the impact of Hizbul Wathan extracurricular on students’ hard skills and soft skills. The type of this research was mixed-method research. The subjects of this research were teachers and students of class X. Data were collected through the methods of observation, interview, documentation, and questionnaire. The data were then analyzed through the methodology of data reduction, data display, conclusion, and verification. The research result shows that: (1) the hard skills output from the Hizbul Wathan extracurricular are products, handicrafts, and students’ score. Whereas, the soft skills are shown from students’ honesty, responsibility, just conduct, collaboration, adaptation skill, independence, communication skill, problem-solving skill, making decisions, critical thinking, tolerance, respect toward their peers, motivation, confidence, creativity, and discipline. (2) The hard skills’ reinforcement is done through training, competition, daily life application. Whereas, the soft skills’ reinforcement is done through group work training and problem-solving. (3) The impacts of Hizbul Wathan extracurricular on students’ hard skills and soft skills are shown through students’ ability to create a product, building independence, triggering socialization senses, and building collaboration. The conclusion to this research is that the attributions of soft skills have been implemented within the Hizbul Wathan extracurricular. Besides, Hizbul Wathan gives positive impacts on honing students' talent and developing their hard skills and soft skills.
