The article presents the results of studies of the dynamics of changes in hematological and biochemical blood parameters in clinically healthy sables when using the functional food "PristineGoldVet" aimed at maintaining the functions of the digestive and endocrine systems, improving the quality of fur and increasing the gain in live weight of young animals. When using a protein hydrolyzate, it was established: an increase in the content of erythrocytes, hematocrit, hemoglobin and albumin fraction and a decrease in the erythrocyte sedimentation rate (ESR). In addition, an increase in live body weight was observed in animals. It has been proven that the use of PristineGoldVet functional food in the diets of sables can increase their feed value, which has a beneficial effect on digestion indices.

Functional food is a food that has a beneficial effect to the body beyond its adequate nutritional effects. It can help improve someone’s health and/or decrease the risk of disease. The awareness in the community of the importance of health encourages the development of functional food. One of the functional food that has been developed in Indonesia is the artificial rice. Artificial rice, an alternative paddy rice substitute, has a minimally equal value to paddy rice. Artificial rice is made to reduce people’s dependence on paddy rice and to support food diversification program to achieve food security in Indonesia. Artificial rice is made from a non-paddy rice flour with a certain compositions, so that it can be used as a vehichle to make a functional food and can be fortified with ingredients that contain functional active compounds. Indonesian researchers have developed artificial rice products by utilizing local resources, such as corn, sorghum, spices, tubers, and others, to obtain an artificial rice with improved nutritional and functional characters that have some health benefits such as antidiabetic, antioxidant, antihypertensive, and anticancer. Such development has resulted in the observation that artificial rice can be used as a functional food for rice substitute with an equal or better nutritional value than paddy rice. However, further research is still needed to improve the sensory quality of artificial rice so that it can be accepted easily by the community. Keywords: Artificial rice, food diversification, functional food, rice analogue

Given results of test on 537 chickens-broilers (635 of control) in terms of economy drug produced on the basis of the solution of Poltava bishofit (SPB). Drug was given chickens-broilers of 5-day age group method internally with water in 3 cycles of 24-hour intervals over 7 times in each cycle and 7-day interval between cycles. The chicks, which were given the drug, compared with the control, had a greater average live weight of the body in 43-day age of 50 g, 73-day – 128 g and 111-day – 103 g it shows its positive effect on organisms of chicks up to 2,5 months (time of observations) after the last application in 38-th days of their lives. The drugs based on the SPB will have greater efficiency in the application of the repair chicks and adult hens, i.e. those who live more than 2,5 months. The 43-day age 16 broiler died of the calculation of the initial total number (2,9 %) in experimental group and 30 (4,72 %) in the control. On control broilers, compared with research, savings on the drug, which is not used, and smaller amounts of used feed, but we received much more losses due to lower increases in live body weight and more fatalities. The total value of the economic benefits of the drug only to 43-day age of chicks is 5,8 UAH on each invested 1 UAH.

In this experiment the influence of stocking density on the body conformation of broiler carcasses was investigated. One hundred and twenty broiler chickens were divided into three groups; each group comprised 40 chickens. At the end of the first week of the fattening period 20 chickens in each group were marked by random sampling. The first testing group (P1) represented the one with a lower stocking density (12 chickens per square meter); the second one (P2) with a higher stocking density (18 chickens per square meter), while the control group (K) was set in accordance with the technological recommendations (15 chickens per square meter). Breast circumference, drumstick circumference, keel length (crista sterni), breast depth and breast angle were monitored and measured on a weekly basis. Body conformation measures were determined on the carcasses in a horizontal position with their backs placed on the table. The appropriate instruments such as millimetre tape, caliper and ZP-3 protractor were used. In addition, a weekly live weight and feed consumption were measured. Production results (live weight, gain, feed-to-gain ratio and European Production Index (EPI) were calculated. Carcass grades were calculated based on the mass ratio of the cooled carcass and the live body weight before slaughtering. The research findings have confirmed that overcrowding in production facilities is always risky in regard to the expected production results. In contrast, by fully conforming to the production technology requirements, it is possible to achieve better production results.

Increasing the milk productivity of cows is the main task facing the livestock industry of our country. The study of some hematological and biochemical blood parameters in dairy cows when different feed additives are included in their rations is an urgent research task. The purpose of the investigations was to study the hematological and biochemical parameters of the blood of lactating cows when using different feed additives in the ration. During the investigations, the influence of feed additives such as Zaslon 2+ (at a dose of 20 g/head/day to the main ration), Diatomite (100 g/head/day to the main ration) and Monosporin (70 g/head/day to the main ration) on the hematological and biochemical blood parameters of lactating cows has been observed. The studied feed additives are used for the adsorption of mycotoxins in feed, normalization of digestive processes, and improvement of the livability and productivity of farm animals. In order to study the influence of the tested feed additives on the hematological parameters of the blood of lactating cows under the conditions of the Troitsky area in the Chelyabinsk region, on four groups of cows selected according to the principle of analogues (age, live weight, productivity, breed, physiological condition) the scientific and economic experiment has been carried out. As the result of the investigations, data have been obtained indicating that the feed additive Zaslon 2+ at the dose of 20 g/head/day has the greatest effect on the metabolism in the body of lactating cows.

Abstract Background and Aims Inadequate dialysis has been linked to reduced quality of life, increased symptom burden and increased risk of cardiovascular illness in patients with chronic kidney disease. This is especially significant in long-term haemodialysis patients who have little to no residual urine output and are thus almost entirely dependent on good quality dialysis to remove toxins and fluid. In most conventional haemodialysis modes middle molecule clearance is inadequate. This in turn plays an important part in causing multiple complications. HDx is a new type of haemodialysis being introduced using Theranova® dialyzer. This claims to have medium cut-off membranes, functioning similar to a kidney, hence providing better clearance of middle molecules, whilst selectively preventing loss of proteins from the body. In order to test the safety and efficacy of HDx using Theranova® we tried it in a cohort of our patients in the form of an audit. Our primary objective was to find out the effect of HDx on quality of life. Secondary objective was to determine whether HDx improves blood biochemistry, with a reduction in medication & transfusion needs. Method Thirty seven Haemodialysis patients were switched from hemodiafiltration to HDx, out of these 3 patients were transplanted, 2 patients died, 1 patient switched back and 7 patients were transferred to satellite units. Audit was continued with the remaining 24 patients. All patients completed an Integrated Palliative Care Outcome Score (IPOS) prior to commencing on HDx and then at six months. Blood parameters including phosphorous, calcium, haemoglobin, Ferritin and CRP were measured monthly and mean values of 6 months before and after HDx initiation were compared. Comparison of erythropoietin, intravenous iron and packed red blood cell transfusion requirements pre and post HDx commencement were also undertaken. Results No obvious adverse effects were noted with use of HDx dialysis. All patients had an improvement in overall IPOS scores after being on HDx for 6 months. Shorter post dialysis symptom recovery times were also noted. 13 patients had a decrease in their erythropoietin requirements, in 2 patients requirement remained the same, 9 patients had increase in their requirement however 3 of these patients had been requiring packed red blood cell transfusion prior to HDx commencement, no longer required transfusion. We found an overall improvement in patients iron infusion need. 11 patients had a dose reduction, with 4 of these patients no longer requiring iron. 9 patients continued to have the same requirements. 4 patients had an increase in iron dose, but 3 of these patients previously being transfusion dependant no longer required regular transfusions. We also noted that with use of HDx clotting risk was reduced and patients who were switched from Evodial (heparin coated dialyzer membranes) to HDx did not have increased circuit clotting. With regards to inflammation we noted no significant changes in CRP, ferritin levels and other blood parameters. Conclusion Looking at our cohort of patients we concluded that HDx is safe to use with no obvious adverse effects. It seems that use of HDx is particularly helpful in improving quality of life in dialysis patients as indicated by improvement in IPOS scores. IPOS is a validated questionnaire to measure symptoms and concerns in patients with advanced illnesses. As life quality is a major concern in dialysis patients, this outcome is of particular significance. HDx was also helpful in reducing the overall burden of transfusions, iron and erythropoietin requirements. This is beneficial in overall patient health and cost burden. Based on the above we found out that HDX was safe and effective in our patient cohort, however large-scale studies will be required for more conclusive evidence.
