The main purpose of this study was to examine the effect ofcommunicative approach on creative writing among 9th graders. It wasfound from the literature that different aspects of creative writing can bedeveloped through communicative approach. The pretest posttestnonequivalent control group design, that is, Quasi Experimental designwas used. To carry out this investigation six classes from two schools,one public and one private, were selected to collect data for the purpose.206 students were conveniently selected for experimentation. There were33 girls and 173 boys in all the experimental and control groups. Fourtasks of the creative writing were carefully chosen from literature andwere pilot tested at a smaller group of students. After pilot testing, minorchanges were incorporated. The pre-test was administered to control andexperimental groups. Communicative lessons were delivered in theexperimental classrooms only. The same pre-test was used as the posttestas well. The creative compositions were evaluated in the light ofscoring rubrics. They were rechecked by relevant class instructors forinter-rater reliability. The data were analyzed using t-statistics and thesoftware SPSS. Results of the research showed that communicativeapproach had a noteworthy influence on the increase of creative writingskills among secondary level learners. The outcomes of the research areworthwhile for teachers, curriculum specialists, syllabi designers andpolicy makers. In addition, communicative approach is recommended forteaching of writing any genre in English.

Science learning packaging still focuses on conventional learning. This causes students to feel bored in learning and have difficulty understanding the material taught by the teacher. This problem affects the students' low science learning outcomes. This study aims to analyze the significant differences in science learning outcomes for groups of students who are taught through the application of the SETS approach and students who are taught through conventional learning. This type of research is a quasi-experimental research design with nonequivalent control group design. The population and sample in this study were all students in grades IIIa and IIIb, totaling 61 people. The data collection technique in this research is a test. The technique used to analyze the data is using t-test statistical analysis. The results showed that there was a significant difference in science learning outcomes between the experimental and control groups as seen from the value of tcount = 5.862 > ttable = 2,000. Based on the results of the study, it can be concluded that the SETS approach has an effect on students' science learning outcomes. This research implies that the SETS approach can assist teachers in developing the learning process.

The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of AIUEO therapy on the speech ability of stroke patients who have motor aphasia in Raja Ahmad Thabib Hospital Tanjungpinang. The research design used was quasi experiment with the Nonequivalent Control Group Design approach to 9 respondents who were divided into 9 treatment groups and 9 control groups. The results showed that there were significant differences in the functional ability of communication between the control and treatment groups with a value of p <0.05 (p = 0.007 at a = 0.05) using the Wilcoxon Test statistical test. Conclusion, the influence of AIUEO therapy on the speech ability of stroke patients with motor aphasia in the treatment and control groups at Ahmad Thabib Hospital Tanjungpinang.   Keywords: Speech Ability, Motor Aphasia Stroke, AIUEO Therapy

This research aims to know the effect of group investigation learning on student’s science process skill based on their IQ in SMAN 1 Mataram for eleventh grade students. This is a quasi experimental study using pretest postest control group design design. Pretest was taken to get data of student’s IQ. Posttest was also conducted to measure student’s science process skill. Sample was taken using nonprobability sampling from the population of eleventh grade student in SMAN 1 Mataram.The sample was two group of student each from two class, class XI sains 6 and as experimental group and class XI sains 5 as control group. The average os Student’s IQ on experimental group and control group were equal, both at 112. Learning processes were 12 x 45 minutes long in total. The experimental group showed better average score on posttest where they scored 82.40 on average, while control group only scored 74.83 on average. This value is statistically significant, at p = 0.007, less that 0.005. This result shows that implementation of group investigation can increase student’s science process skill.Keywords: Group investigation, science process skill, intelligence Quotient (IQ)ABSTRACT

Abstract. This research has been made to know skill of student’s concept by using active learning strategy everyone is teacher here (ETH). Beside that this study aims to measure student’s concept understanding with statistical test between Experimental Class (Active Learning Strategy Everyone Is Teacher Here) and control class (Conventional Learning ). The population was seventh grade of SMPN 3 Lirik consist 94 students in three classes. Sample was took randomly, experiment class ( VII.2 ) and control class ( VII.I ) This research was experiment, the form of this research was Quasi Experimental Design with randomized subject posttest only control group design. based on statistic data processing has been retrieved - t hitung -3,159 smaller than - t table was -2,000 and based on t test has been retrieved -thitung < -t table so Ho rejected and Ha received. So that the writer conclude that skill of math student’s concept understanding by using active learning Strategy Everyone Is Teacher Here (ETH) is better than conventional concept understanding.Keywords: Everyone Is A Teacher Here, Concept Understanding

This research aims at developing Speaking Skill through Interview. Its method was quasi-experimental research non-equivalent control group design. Its population was the students of grade VIII at SMP Negeri 1 Palu, in which consists of thirteen parallel classes. The experimental class consists of 29 students and control class consists of 30 students. It was done in eight meetings. The variables of this research were speaking skill and interview. The samples of this research were students of grade VIII C and VIII D, selected through cluster sampling technique. Its results indicate that the application of interview has overcome the students’ problem. After analyzing them, the result of t-counted was 10.01. By applying degree of freedom (df) 57(29+30-2), and the level significant 0.05, the value of t-table was 2.00. So,  the value of t-counted was higher than t-table. It means that the hypothesis of this research was accepted. Thus, the interview can be applied to develop speaking skill of students grade VIII  at  SMP Negeri 1 Palu.

This study aimed to answer whether using chessboard technique in responding to short story develops student’s speaking skill or not. The method used in this study was one of the quasi-experimental designs: pretest-posttest non-equivalent comparison control group design. The population of the study was the eleventh-grade student at SMA N 12Palembang and the sample were taken from the population by using purposive sampling. The data were collected by using two instruments, test and questionnaire. The test wasgiven twice to the experimental and control group, as the pretest and the posttest. Thequestionnaire was distributed to the experimental group after conducting the treatment to get more information related to the problem of the study. To verify the hypothesis, thedata from pretest and posttest on the experimental and control group were analyzed byusing paired sample t-test and independent sample t-test. The result of the study showed that applying chessboard technique in responding to the short story develops student’s speaking skills. Some students (60%) in the experimental group achieve good category compared to only a few students (20%) in control group.

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh pelatihan langkah bayangan (shadow) memindahkan bola bulutangkis terhadap kelincahan dan daya ledak otot tungkai. Jenis penelitian adalah eksperimen semu dengan rancangan the non randomized pretest-posttest control group design. Subjek penelitian sebanyak 20 orang. Kelincahan diukur dengan tes zig-zag run, dan untuk daya ledak otot tungkai menggunakan tes vertical jump, selanjutnya data dianalisis dengan bantuan komputer program SPSS 16.0. Hasil analisis data kelincahan pada kelompok perlakuan langkah bayangan terjadi peningkatan rata-rata gaint score sebesar 0,49 dan pada kelompok kontrol terjadi peningkatan rata-rata gaint score sebesar 0,25. Hasil analisis data daya ledak otot tungkai pada kelompok perlakuan langkah bayangan terjadi peningkatan rata-rata gaint score sebesar 9,1 dan pada kelompok kontrol terjadi peningkatan rata-rata gaint score sebesar 5,0. Hasil uji t-independent variabel kelincahan antara kelompok perlakuan dan kelompok kontrol didapat Thitung sebesar 5,082 dengan signifikansi 0,000 dan untuk variabel daya ledak otot tungkai antara kelompok perlakuan dan kelompok kontrol didapat Thitung sebesar 6,403 dengan signifikansi 0,000. Dari hasil analisis data dan pembahasan dapat disimpulkan bahwa; (1) pelatihan langkah bayangan (shadow) memindahkan bola bulutangkis berpengaruh terhadap peningkatan kelincahan pada siswa putra ekstrakurikuler bulutangkis SMP Negeri 1 Ubud. (2) pelatihan langkah bayangan (shadow) memindahkan bola bulutangkis berpengaruh terhadap peningkatan daya ledak otot tungkai pada siswa putra ekstrakurikuler bulutangkis SMP Negeri 1 Ubud.Kata Kunci : Langkah Bayangan (shadow), kelincahan, daya ledak otot tungkai The aims of this study was to determined the effect of training shadow step moving a shuttlecock to the agility and leg muscle power. Type of research was quasi experiment with the non randomized pre-test-post-test control group design. This research as many as 20 subjacts. Agility measured with a zig-zag run test and Leg muscle power measured with a vertical jump tests, then the data were analyzed with the aid of a computer program SPSS 16.0. The results of the analysis of agility on a shadow step treatment group, the mean of gaint score increased of 0,49, in the control group there was an increase of 0,25. The result of the analysis of leg muscle power on a shadow step treatment group, the mean of gaint score increased of 9,1, in the control group there was an increase of 5,0. The results of t-Independent agility variables between the treatment and control groups obtained Taccount of 5,082 with significance 0,000, leg muscle power variables between the treatment and control groups obtained Taccount of 6,403 with significance 0,000. From the results of the data analysis and discussion, it can be concluded that; (1) shadow step training effect on the increase in agility men's badminton extracurricular of SMPN 1 Ubud. Kosakata adalah hal yang penting untuk diingat oleh individu, namun terkadang individu merasa sulit untuk mengingat kosakata. Individu memerlukan sebuah metode yang dapat membantu untuk mengingat dengan mudah kosakata beserta artinya atau tidak mudah lupa dengan kosakata yang telah dipelajari sebelumnya. Keyword mnemonic merupakan salah satu cara untuk membantu individu dalam mengingat kosakata. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui efektifitas keyword mnemonic dalam meningkatkan kemampuan mengingat arti kosakata bahasa inggris. Subjek penelitian ini melibatkan 56 siswa SMP Negeri 13 Makassar yang belum menghafal kosakata bahasa Inggris beserta artinya. Desain eksperimen yang digunakan pada penelitian ini adalah control group posttest-only design. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa Terdapat perbedaan yang signifikan antara kelompok yang menggunakan keyword mnemonic dan kelompok kontrol. Kelompok yang menggunakan keyword mnemonic (mean=1.14) memperoleh hasil lebih tinggi dari kelompok kontrol (mean=-5.14) (p=0.000<0.05). Penelitian ini bermanfaat bagi individu yang ingin mengingat dengan mudah dan dapat digunakan dalam waktu jangka panjang. Kata kunci: Keyword mnemonic, mengingat, kosakata Vocabulary is an important thing to be remembered by the people, but sometimes people find it difficult to remember the vocabulary. Individuals need a method that can help to remember vocabulary and their meanings easily or not easily forget the vocabulary that have been studied previously. Keyword mnemonic is one of the method to assist individuals in remembering vocabulary. The purposed of this study was to determine the effectiveness  keyword mnemonic to improve the ability to remember the meaning of the english vocabulary. Subjects of this study involving 56 students of senior high school of thirteen Makassar who have not memorized the English vocabulary and their meanings yet. Experimental design used in this study is the posttest-only control group design. The results showed that there are significant differences between the groups using the keyword mnemonic and control groups. The groups that use the keyword mnemonic (mean=1.14) obtain higher yields than the control group (mean=-5.14) (p=0.000<0.05). This study is beneficial for individuals who would like to recall with ease and can be used in the long term.Keyword: Keyword mnemonic, remember, vocabulary

Background: Constipation is one of the most common problems in stroke due to inactivity and immobility.Objective: To compare one hour and every two-hour turning regimens in the prevention of constipation in patients with stroke.Methods: This was a quasi-experimental research with pretest posttest with control group design. There were 39 participants assigned in intervention group (n=17) and control group (n=22). The intervention group turned every one hour, while control group turned every two hours. The turning regimen was implemented for five days. A bowel score was used to measure constipation. McNemar Test and Fisher Test were used to measure and compare the bowel score between the two groups.Results: There was no significant difference in the effect of two turning regiments on constipation (p > .05). However, based on a descriptive result, there was a slight decrease in the number of constipation from 47% to 29.4% in the intervention group, and from 32% to 27% in the control group.Conclusion: Turning might still become an effective way to prevent constipation in patients with stroke either every one hour or two hours without diet modification.

The aim of this study is to find the effect of Describe and Draw game towards students’ speaking competence at SMAN 2 Gerung. This study used a quasi-experimental with post-test only non-equivalent control group design. The population of this study was second-grade students of SMAN 2 Gerung. The writer took two classes chosen as experimental group and control group. Experimental group was treated by using Describe and Draw game and control group was treated by using Word Match game. Based on the result of the study, it was found that Describe and Draw Game has a significant effect towards students’ speaking competence at SMAN 2 Gerung.
