<p><strong></strong> Students who study in bilingual class are expected to have the ability of speaking English as well as Indonesian. This study looks at the learning steps in teaching speaking English in bilingual class that claimed their students are able to speak fluently in English within one year. The research data was taken from two bilingual classes at Madrasah Ibtidaiyah Negeri (MIN) Ciputat, South Tangerang City, Banten. The sample of this study were 20 bilingual class students from class 6. The instruments of the research are questionnaire and class observation. Questionnaire is given to the teachers related to their methods in teaching speaking, class observation is done to see the ability of students in speaking. This research is limited only to the teaching steps of English speaking in the bilingual class. The results of this study indicates that by practicing the cluster method carried out by the teacher, the students' speaking skills improved significantly in a short time</p><p> </p><p><em> </em></p><p><em>Key Words: </em><em>Bilingual, </em><em>monoligual, literacy instruction, </em></p><p><strong> </strong></p><p align="center"><strong><em>RINGKASAN</em></strong></p><p><em> </em></p><p><em>Siswa yang belajar dikelas bilingual ddiharapkan mempunyai kemampuan berbicara bahasa Inggris sebaik bahasa Indonesia. Penelitian ini mencari tahu langkah-langkah pembelajaran yang terkait dengan kemampuan berbicara bahasa Inggris di kelas bilingual yang mengklaim siswanya dapat lancer berbicara bahasa Inggris dalam waktu satu tahun. Data-data penelitian  diambil dari dua kelas bilingual di Madrasah Ibtidaiyah Negeri (MIN) Ciputat Kota Tangerang Selatan Banten. Sampel penelitian ini adalah 20 siswa kelas bilingual yang berasal dari kelas 6. Instrument dari penelitian ini adalah angket dan observasi kelas. Angket diberikan kepada guru untuk melihat metode mengajar yang terkait dengan kemampuan berbicara, observasi kelas dilakukan untuk melihat sejauh mana kemampuan berbicara bahasa Inggris siswa. Penelitian ini dibatasi hanya pada langkah-langkah pengajaran berbicarabahasa Inggris dikelas bilingual. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukan bahwa dengan mempraktekan metode kluster yang dilakukan oleh guru, kemampuan berbicara siswa dapat meningkat secara signifikan dalam waktu yang relatif singkat   </em></p><p><em> </em></p><p><em>K</em><em>ata Kunci: </em><em>Dwi bahasa, </em><em>bahasa tunggal, instruksi lisan</em></p>

<p class="abstrak">The purpose of this study was to find out if the ability to speak English effectively by 10th graders at SMA IT Rahmaniya was improved by using YouTube. This paper focused on implementing YouTube as a method for teaching speaking that is different, interesting, and fun, while creating a classroom atmosphere that is comfortable and increases students’ enthusiasm for learning. This paper used the qualitative descriptive method as the method of research. The result of using YouTube was very effective because it allowed students to speak with more confidence and expression. They also did not have to worry about the phrases they used when speaking because they were able to see how foreigners speak English properly and correctly.</p><p class="abstrak"><strong>BAHASA INDONESIA ABSTRAK: </strong>Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui peningkatan ketermapilan berbicara bahasa inggris secara efektif dengan memanfaatkan media YouTube di SMA IT Rahmaniyah, untuk kelas X. Penelitian berfokus pada implementasi Youtube untuk pengajaran berbicara yang berbeda, menarik, menyenangkan, menjadikan suasana dikelas nyaman dan meningkatkan semangat belajar untuk siswa kelas X SMA. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode kualitatif deskriptif. Hasil dari penggunaan media YouTube selama pembelajaran di kelas sangat efektif, karena siswa berbicara dengan percaya diri dan lebih berekspresif. Siswa juga tidak perlu khawatir mengenai frasa yang mereka gunakan ketika berbicara bahasa inggris, karena mereka sudah melihat bagaimana orang asing berbicara bahasa inggris dengan baik dan benar.</p>

This study aims to analyze the Indonesian language syntactic interference on English Speaking Skills of English Language Students. The research subjects were students of semester 3 at a non-English language college in Garut. This study uses a qualitative descriptive approach with equivalent and distribution methods. Meanwhile, the corpus was obtained by using the listening technique (SBLC), recording and taking notes from students' conversation assignments about their past activities in the form of videos. The results showed that the syntactic interference in this study includes the inaccuracy of word forms that are influenced by the past, inaccurate subject-verb agreements, inaccuracies, absence of articles, sentence patterns that do not match S + V + O, inaccurate use of the words 'no' and 'not'.Keywords: interference, syntax, speaking skills

This study aims to investigate language teaching in the practice of English speaking skills through blended learning, utilizing Youtube as a media. Participants were 42 (males and female) in third semester students enrolled in the second year in Information Technology program, Serang Raya University. The method was classroom action research. Data collected through the procedure taken from the Kemmis Taggart model. Those were begun from planning, action, observation, and reflection. Meanwhile, the data analyzed based on the whole observation of the action on each circle and the result of questionnaires. The result shows that students were greatly motivated on practicing speaking skills.

Abstrak: Penelitian ini membahas bentuk dan maksud tindak tutur pada baliho kampanye legislatif Pemilu tahun 2009 di Kalimantan Selatan. Tujuan penelitian untuk mendeskripsikan bentuk dan maksud tindak tutur pada baliho kampanye legislatif Pemilu tahun 2009 di Kalimantan Selatan. Metode yang digunakan deskriptif  kualitatif. Teknik pengumpulan data dilakukan dengan cara teknik simak dan teknik catat. Sumber data penelitian berupa Buku “Lebih Tepat Lebih Baik: Penggunaan Bahasa Indonesia pada Baliho Kampanye Calon Legislatif Pemilu Tahun 2009”. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa pada baliho kampanye calon legislatif pemilu tahun 2009 di Kalimantan Selatan menggunakan tindak tutur lokusi, ilokusi, dan perlokusi. Selain itu, tuturan pada baliho juga menggunakan tindak tutur langsung berupa kalimat perintah dan tindak tutur tak langsung berupa kalimat berita.Kata kunci: Bentuk, maksud, tindak tutur, baliho, kampanye. Abstract: This study discusses the shape and purpose of the speech act on a billboard campaign in the 2009 legislative elections in South Kalimantan . The research objective to describe the shape and purpose of the speech act on a billboard campaign in the 2009 legislative elections in South Kalimantan. The method used descriptive qualitative . Data was collected by means of techniques and techniques refer to the note . Source of research data in the form of book " More Right Better : Use of Indonesian on Billboard Campaign Legislative Candidate Election Year 2009 " . The results showed that on a billboard campaign Election candidates in 2009 in South Kalimantan , using locutions speech acts , illocutionary , and perlokusi . In addition, the speech on billboards also uses speech act directly in the form of imperative sentences and indirect speech acts in the form of news sentences .Key words : Form, intention, speech act , billboard , campaign.

This study aims to improve speaking skills of children aged 5-6 through methods Story Reading in TK Melati/ ABA 005 Pulau Balai. The method used is a Class Action Research. Class actions that researchers do the research is to use the method Story Reading to improve speaking skills of children aged 5-6 years in TK Melati TK Melati/ ABA 005 Pulau Balai, and is observed by the observer. Samples taken are TK Melati/ ABA 005 Pulau Balai with the number of children of 20 people, consisting of 13 men and 7 women. Data collection techniques in this research is through observation of teachers and children as well as data capability speaking children aged 5-6 years with use of methods Story Reading. Hipotesis in this study is if the method will be applicable Story Reading can improve speaking skills of children aged 5-6 years in TK Melati/ ABA Pulau Balai 005 can be enhanced through storytelling. Results of the research data obtained by using the method Story Reading can improve the ability to speak of children aged 5-6 years in TK Melati / ABA 005 Pulau Balai. The percentage increase in the ability to speak the child at the age of 5-6 years using Story Reading methods in TK Melati/ ABA 005 Pulau Balai, from initial data to the second cycle increased by 32.2%. The background of this research is to learn Indonesian low yields, it is proved that out of 28students only 14 Siwa which reached KKM. To the researchers conduct classroom actionresearch with the aim to improve learning outcomes Indonesian. This research is a class actwho do sebanya two cycles by applying the method of exercise. This research was conductedin SD Negeri 009 Air Emas Kecamatan Ukui. The data used in this study is the activity dataand the teacher and student learning outcomes. Based on the research data showed that theactivities of teachers and students has increased at each cycle, as evidenced by getting ascore, namely: (a) the activities of teachers has increased in each cycle, the first cycle ofmeetings I gained a score of 9 (37.50%), the first cycle II meeting obtain a score of 14(58.33%), the second cycle of meetings I obtain a score of 19 (79.16%). And the second cycleII meeting obtain a score of 21 (87.50%). Additionally the activity of students has increased ateach cycle. At the meeting I cycle I obtained a score of 9 (37.50%), in the second meeting ofthe second cycle obtain a score of 16 (66.68%), at a meeting I cycle II obtained a score of 18(75.00%). And at the second meeting of the second cycle obtain a score of 22 (91.67%); and(b) the learning outcomes of students has increased at each cycle. In the first cycle thenumber of students who scored at intervals of> 80 amounted to 0 (0%), at intervals of 75-84value amounted to 7 students (25.00%), at intervals of 65-74 values were 12 students(42.85%) and at intervals of 55-64 value amounted to 9 students (32.14%). In the secondcycle the number of students who scored at intervals of> 80 amounted to 0 (0%), at intervalstotaling 21 students grades 75-84 (75.00%), at intervals of 65-74 grades are 5 students(17.85%) and at intervals of 55-64 value amounted to 2 students (7.14%). Additionallymastery learning students also increased, in the first cycle is the number of students whocompleted the 19 students (67.85%) increased in the second cycle by the number of 26students (92.85%).

This study addresses the translation of passive voice in Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azakaban into Bahasa Indonesia. The study was based on descriptive qualitative approach. The data were collected by applying documentary techniques. There were three chapters taken as the source of the data. They were chapters 1, 8 and 15. The findings indicated that there were two types of passive voices as a product of passive voices’ translation in Bahasa Indonesia. The passive voice retained as passive one in TL was more dominantly translated into passive voice type one than type two in TL. It caused the use of prefix di+verb base, prefix di+verb base suffix i, and prefix di +verb base+ suffix+ kan are able to represent the meaning of the SL literally and culturally. The changing of English passive voice into Bahasa Indonesia active voice when they were translated indicated that the translator has attempted to find the closest natural equivalent of the source language in aspect of grammar, style, and cultural value. In essence naturalization rate of an expression is a matter of looking for matches in level lexical categories, grammatical categories, semantic, and cultural context.   Key words: translation, passive voice, English, Bahasa Indonesia.

This study dealt with the attitudes of university students of Batubara towards Batubara Malay language. The data were collected from 20 university students of Batubara in Medan. The instruments used for collecting the data were observation sheet, questionnaire sheet and depth interview. The data were analyzed by Moleong’s theory. The findings showed that the respondents’ attitudes were: 12 (60%) negative and 8 (40%) positive. The attitudes levels of university students included in negative and positive attitudes namely in: receiving 11 (55%) negative and 9 (45%) positive, responding 12 (60%) negative and 8 positive, valuing 10 (50%) negative and 10 (50%)  positive,  organizing 12 (60%) positive and 8 (40%) negative, and internalizing values 12 (60%) negative and 8 (40%) positive. The factors influenced the university students’ attitudes were language disloyalty 12 (60%) negative and 8 (40%) positive, language pride lack 14 (70%) negative and 7 (30%) positive, in the unawareness of the norms 11 (55%) negative and 9 (45%) positive. Bahasa Indonesia is dominantly spoken by the university students of Batubara in Medan which caused they have less frequency in using their Batubara Malay language with their friends who are from same region in Medan. This research aims to describe: (1) students' English speaking skill in English immersion school; (2) students’ strengths and weaknesses in speaking skill in English immersion school; (3) factors affecting students' speaking skill in English immersion school. The research was designed as a case study, conducted at a school applying English immersion in Bondowoso, East Java, Indonesia in Academic Year 2017-2018. The research used purposive sampling. Data were collecated by interview, questionnairre, observation, and document analysis. The informants were grade 2 students, English teachers, and the school founder. The analysis found that: (1) on the scale of 1-5 (1=very bad, 2=bad, 3=fair, 4=good, 5=very good), students’ English speaking skills were at levels of very good (2.22%), good (6.67%), fair (37.78%), bad (44.44%), and very bad (8.89%); (2) students’ strengths in English speaking skills were related to vocabulary with average score of 2.7, and the weaknesses dealt with fluency with average score of 2.25; (3) factors that were assumed to affect students’ English speaking skills were environment, local accent, vocabulary mastery, English use, preference, and habits. It is recommended that all parties involved in the English immersion program evaluate the running of the program and the content of the program to provide learning outputs through English immersion. Commitment to using English should be strengthened, especially in English Week program. Improvement on English teachers’ is needed by involving them in trainings. Finally, similar research at non-English immersion school is necessary to ensure the comparative results gained from both types of school.
