In order to elaborate the issues of human security in Nepal from the perspectives of citizenship realm and trends of immigration, it is necessary to investigate the provisions of citizenship provided in the constitution as well as the laws that oversee the effect of immigration on the socio-cultural, political and economic demographics of Nepal. Importance of strong citizenship laws proliferate continuously from dual and transitional citizenship in the context of globalization. The development of national security of any country is dependent upon the quality of dignity, liberty and protection ensured to its citizens by the state. So, the economic, social and political rights should be granted to the citizens in equal manner through citizenship while guarding against pretentious foreign interests. Nepal needs to have strong citizenship and immigration laws to sustain its territorial integrity and protect national interests.

In the first part of a two-part article, the author critically evaluates the anti-terrorism provisions of Canada’s Immigration Act. The impact of these provisions on refugees is the focus of the essay, but her observations are relevant to the situation of other categories of non-citizens as well. The inquiry begins by considering international efforts to address “terrorism,” the relevance of international humanitarian law to an assessment of acts of “terror,” and the nature of contemporary discourse on “terrorism.” Next, the evolution of the current admissibility provisions in Canadian immigration law, with particular reference to refugee policy and national security, is reviewed. A brief discussion of current policy directions concludes part 1.

The subject of this research is national interests of the Russian Federation in the Arctic region. Russia's national interests in the Arctic are versatile and quite complex, representing an intersection of the spheres of national interests of Russia as a whole and such particular vectors as the World Ocean, economic sphere, border zone, etc. They are delineated with different degree of specification in a range of normative legal and other documents. Systematization of national interests, factors and threats in the Arctic zone, as well as understanding of their interrelation is an important step in ensuring national security of Russia in the Arctic Region. The analysis of normative legal acts allows systematizing the factors influencing the activity of federal executive branches in the Arctic, as well as outlining the threats to national security of Russia in the Arctic Region. The author analyzes correlation between the factors and threats to Russia's national interests and the vectors of activity of the federal executive branches on their neutralization. Such approach towards interdependence of factors, interests, and vectors of activity is of comprehensive, which discerns it from other existing approaches. The parallel is drawn between the indicated correlation and the dual layer neural network. The author assesses the feasibility of the proposed original approach for estimating the impact of activity of the federal executive branches on ensuring national interests, and offers relevant recommendations.

This paper attempts to demonstrate the dissonance between the highlighted themes placing people at the epicenter and yet excluding the general public and their actual security needs, examines national security from a consumer’s perspective. To underscore a dissonance in the discourse on national security, the writer explores the paradigm of national security policy. Then, it illustrates the discord between the public security needs in their everyday life and the outlined threats in the national security documents. To validate the above argument, the paper offers a new avenue on the overlooked consumer identity of human beings and demonstrates the probability and impact of threats to national security by means of the qualitative data analysis.

It is determined that at present state administration of the subjects of ensuring national security taking into account real and potential threats should be directed to the improvement of the organizational structure of the management of the subjects of ensuring national security, namely: clarification of the functions of ministries and other central executive bodies, elimination of surplus administrative units, simplification and relatively cheaper control of the management apparatus, taking into account the assessment of the impact of information networks on the management of entities with bezpechennya national security in a single information space. Having considered the components of national security, it was concluded that the most important in the overall system of national security is economic security, since it is the material basis of national sovereignty, which determines the real possibilities for securing other types of security. It is noted that the main content of economic reforms in Ukraine is the creation of conditions for overcoming poverty and excessive property stratification in society, bringing social standards closer to the level of the states of Central and Eastern Europe — the EU member states, achieving the economic criteria necessary for Ukraine to become a member of the EU. According to the adopted “Strategy of National Security of Ukraine”, the main condition for a new quality of economic growth is the provision of economic security.

Purpose The purpose of this study was to identify levels of self-compassion in adults who do and do not stutter and to determine whether self-compassion predicts the impact of stuttering on quality of life in adults who stutter. Method Participants included 140 adults who do and do not stutter matched for age and gender. All participants completed the Self-Compassion Scale. Adults who stutter also completed the Overall Assessment of the Speaker's Experience of Stuttering. Data were analyzed for self-compassion differences between and within adults who do and do not stutter and to predict self-compassion on quality of life in adults who stutter. Results Adults who do and do not stutter exhibited no significant differences in total self-compassion, regardless of participant gender. A simple linear regression of the total self-compassion score and total Overall Assessment of the Speaker's Experience of Stuttering score showed a significant, negative linear relationship of self-compassion predicting the impact of stuttering on quality of life. Conclusions Data suggest that higher levels of self-kindness, mindfulness, and social connectedness (i.e., self-compassion) are related to reduced negative reactions to stuttering, an increased participation in daily communication situations, and an improved overall quality of life. Future research should replicate current findings and identify moderators of the self-compassion–quality of life relationship.
