Kata kunci: keefektifan, Problem Based Learning, minat belajar, prestasi belajar matematika.   ABSTRACT The low interest of students towards mathematics lessons is because students do not know how to solve problems or mathematical problems so they are lazy to do the assignments given by the teacher and their learning achievement is low. Problem-based learning in mathematics learning: Teacher's efforts to increase students’ learning interest and achievementAbstractThis classroom action research aims to increase learning interest and mathematics learning achievement of students by implementing the Problem-Based Learning (PBL). This action research conduct in four stages (planning, implementation, observation, and reflection) as the Kemmis dan Mc Taggart model suggests. A total of 26 students in class VII.B in SMP Taman Dewasa Jetis, Yogyakarta, were involved in this action research. The instruments used in data collection consisted of a questionnaire, observation sheet, and test. Data on learning interest and implementation of learning are analyzed qualitatively, while data on learning achievement are analyzed quantitatively. The results of the analysis showed an increase in interest, as well as high mathematics learning achievement from the initial conditions. Some conclusions obtained as follows. First, PBL has increased the learning interest and achievement of students in class VII.B of Taman Dewasa Jetis, Yogyakarta, after taking two cycles of action. Second, the increase in students’ interest in learning is due to the position of students in the PBL that is no longer passive. Third, the presence of various mathematical problems that are close to the context of the daily life of students makes the abstract mathematical concepts more easily understood so that not only interest but student achievement also increases. Fourth, the success of implementing PBL is largely determined by the consistency of the teacher in carrying out his role as a facilitator of learning. Several factors that influenced the success of this research were discussed in the article.

This study is aimed at analyzing students' mathematical communication skills based on the results of observations, namely the ability of junior high school students. Subjects consisted of 20 students with categories using high, medium, and low grades. The method used is the Problem Based Learning approach. Data obtained from student results because of student tests and how students in finding mathematical communication solutions students who can solve problems and can solve mathematical problems well. But few students can solve problems because students perceive that mathematics learning is very difficult, especially mathematics communication material. After the treatment of Problem Based Learning, children's results are better than classes that use normal learning. With the increase in the authors concluded that the Problem Based Learning approach can be further investigated with a lot of practice. researchers hope that the Problem Based Learning approach can add insight to students.

The population in this study were seventh grade students of SMP Negeri 223 Jakarta Timur in the academic year 2017/2018. By using selected cluster random sampling techniques VII 3 as the control class, VII 6 and VII 7 respectively as the experimental class PBL models assisted CD learning and assisted PBL models CD Interactive. Data were obtained by documentation and tests, then analyzed by Normality, Homogeneity, One-way Variant Analysis (ANOVA), Two-party and One-party Similarity Test. The results showed that there were significant differences between mathematics learning achievement of students who were taught by learning using PBL models assisted by CD Interactive, PBL models assisted by CD learning and conventional learning. Learning achievement of students who get learning using CD Interactive media is better than students who get conventional learning. Likewise, the learning achievements of students who get learning using CD Learning, media are better than students who get conventional learning. In addition, there were no significant differences between the mathematics learning outcomes of students who were taught using PBL models assisted by CD Interactive and students using PBL models assisted by CD Learning.
