The article describes some psychological factors of sleep quality. Theoretical analysis of psychological factors that affect the quality of sleep is presented. Sleep quality is an important part of a person's overall health. Sleep problems can be associated with decreased physical and mental health, limitations in daily activities, cognitive impairment. Given these consequences, there is a need for a better understanding of the factors associated with the improvement and deterioration of sleep quality. The relevance of this problem in the context of modern research. The results of an empirical study that reveals the relationship between sleep quality and some psychological factors are highlighted. It was found that the average score of sleep quality indicates unsatisfactory sleep quality. It was found that there are significant differences between the groups of subjects with satisfactory and unsatisfactory indicators of the overall score of sleep quality on the scales of neuroticism and depression. In people who are dissatisfied with the quality of sleep, the level of neuroticism is close to high and there is moderate depression. The relationships between sleep quality indicators and psychological factors have been identified, and their features have been analyzed. In general, these relationships demonstrate: emotional inadequacy does not contribute to a better subjective quality of sleep; depressive or anxious symptoms, emotional instability do not contribute to rapid falling asleep, but contribute to sleep disorders and daytime dysfunction; anxious characteristics affect the reduction of sleep time.

Healthy sleep is not only the most important source of restoring the body's strength, but also a way to overcome traumatic events and stress, as well as a resource for the effective functioning of the human nervous system. Many studies confirm the relationship between the duration and quality of sleep and the health status of the population. At the same time, in modern conditions, socio-demographic characteristics of the population are of great importance in determining sleep. The main sleep disorders are recognized not only as a reduction in its duration, but also as a deterioration in quality (problems with falling asleep, a feeling of unreconstructed strength). The purpose of this article is to study the quantitative and qualitative characteristics of sleep in the population (including in the context of the main socio-demographic groups), the prevalence of factors of its disorders and their impact on subjective health assessments. The information base was data from monitoring of physical health of the Vologda oblast population in 2020 (n = 1500). The study identified risk categories for quantitative and qualitative sleep disorders; confirmed the relationship of stress factors, noise pollution and poor housing conditions with the frequency of sleep disorders; proved the impact of sleep problems on self-assessment of health.

Background: every parent wants a child who can grow and develop optimally according to its age category. One of the factors that can influence growth and development is the quality of sleep, due to 75% growth hormone produced when the baby sleeps. Sleep quality of babies can be stimulated through the act of giving massage baby. Objective: this study aims to determine the effect of infant massage on improvement the quality of sleep for infants aged 3-10 months in a village of Banguntapan Public Health Center II. Research method: this research is a pre-experiment research with an approach in one group (one-group pre-post test design without control). Data analysis used is the Wilcoxon test. This research was carried out in the Working Area Village Banguntapan II Health Center, with a population of 64 infants aged 3-10 months. Technique sampling using purposive sampling, which is the number of 15 babies aged 3-10 month. Providing education and demonstration of baby massage is done once, then massage done by parents of babies every day within 3 weeks, and observed by researchers every 2 days. Sleep quality was measured using the A Brief Screening Questionnaire For Infant Sleep Problems (BISQ). Results: Before being given massage the majority of the quality of bad baby sleep was 14 respondents (93.3%), then after being given massage for 3 weeks there was an increase in quality sleep where all babies have good sleep quality of 15 respondents (100%). Comparative test results infant massage between before and after massage is p value 0.000 (p value <0.005). Conclusion: there is the effect of infant massage on improving the quality of sleep for infants aged 3-10 months at Village of Bangutapan II Health Center.

Introduction:Sleep is naturally recurring state of mind and body, characterized by altered consciousness, inhibition of nearly all voluntary muscles and reduced interactions with surroundings. Chronic disturbances can lead to poor sleep quality which may manifest as increased irritability, anxiety, tension, depression, confusion. The undergraduate years are a period of vulnerability when considering sleep problems and mental health may tend to worsen over time. Alcohol, tobacco, and stimulant beverages such as tea/ caffeine affect the quality of sleep. Students are more prone to adopt and practice maladaptive sleep hygiene such as irregular bedtime, academic pressure, internet addiction, electronic media exposure, alcohol consumption and smoking, which affects quality of sleep. Material and Methods:The study was a cross sectional, interview based, non-interventional studyconducted on the engineering students at SGT University, Budhera, Gurgaon, Haryana, India. Data was collected through questionnaires such as Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index, The Epworth `Sleepiness Scale, Depression Anxiety Stress Scale, The general health questionnaire. Results:A total of 274 students were included in the study. The mean age was20.11 ± 1.30 years and there were more male (77.3%) students as compared to females (22.7%). Alcohol use was present in 43(11.7%) of students, cannabis intake was present in 11(4%), nicotine intake was reported by 39(14.2%) of students and only one student reported of taking opioid. DASS-A, DASS-S, DASS-D, GHQ-12, PSQI were positively correlated with each other when associations were studied individually. Conclusion:In our study,it was established that poor sleep quality in engineering students was significantly associated with poor mental and physical health.

The researcheddemonstrated the relationship between functional state of the pineal gland and sleepdeterioration. However, impaired melatonin-producing function of the pineal gland (MFE) in patients with chronic kidney disease (CKD), treated with hemodialysis (HD), and its association with sleep disturbance in this cohort of patients required further investigations.Aim — to assess the quality of sleepin patients with stage 5 CKD treated with HD and investigate itsrelationship with the pineal dysfunction.Materials and methods. Examinations involved 130 patients (50 % of men) with stage 5 CKD, treated with hemodialysis, with the mean age 58.5 [43; 66]. The day and night melatoninlevels (MT) in saliva were determined and based on the results the patients were divided into two groups: group I — 110 patients with impaired MFE, group II — 20 patients with normal MFE. Sleep quality was assessed using the Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index (PSQI) questionnaire. All patients underwent clinical and laboratory tests: general and biochemical blood tests, office blood pressure (BP) measurements, Holter blood pressure monitoring.Results. Analysis of the insomniastructure in patients with stage 5 CKD, treated with HD, according to the PSQI questionnaire, demonstrated the problems with falling asleep in 96.2 % of patients, feeling of heat in 56.8 %, frequent awakenings in 52.9 %, daytime dysfunction in 40.8 %, breathing problems in 40.5 %, sleep problems due to coughing or snoring in 37.8 %, having bad dreams in 18.9 %, the use of sleeping meds in 8 % of patients. The total PSQI score in patients with impaired MFE was higher by 71.4 % (p < 0.001) compared to the value obtained in the group with preserved pineal gland function, demonstrating the effects of MFE on sleep quality.The component of «sleep delay» and «sleep duration» in patients with pineal gland dysfunction was 66.7 % higher than in the group with preserved MFE (p < 0.001). Comparative analysis of the number of minutes required for patients to fall asleep in the study groups demonstrateda greater sleep delay in HD-treated patients with impaired MFE. From them, the majority of subjects (71.8 %) needed more than 60 minutes to fall asleep, while in the group with preserved MFE such patients were not identified (p < 0.05). The number of patients with the period of falling asleep of 31 to 60 minutes in the group with pineal gland dysfunction was 30 % less than in patients with preserved MFE (p < 0.05). The number of patients in whom it took 16—30 minutes to fall asleep in the group with preserved MFE was 92.5 % (p < 0.05) more than in patients with pineal gland dysfunction, and patientswith the period of falling asleep of less than 15 minutes was by 62 % higher than patients with impaired MFE (p < 0.05). The decreased sleep duration was established in all patients treated with HD, however the most worsening of the sleep quality was revealed in the groupof MFE disorders. Thus, thenumber of patients with sleep duration < 5 hourswas by 90.8 % (р < 0.05) higher in the groupof impairedMFEvs group with the preserved MFE, with sleep duration of 5—6 hours by 81.7 % (р < 0.05), the number of subjects with duration of 6—7 hours by 76.4 % lower (р < 0.05), and those who slept > 7 hours by 84.0 % (р < 0.05).Conclusions. Patients with stage 5 CKD, treated with HD, were characterized with combination of MFE impairment (84.6 %) with poor sleep quality (86.2 %), including problems withfalling asleep, felling hot, frequent waking up, and daytime dysfunction. The low quality of sleep was determined bylow melatonin levels in saliva, the presence of hypoalbuminemia and arterial hypertension, hypertension duration and HDtreatment

Baby massage dan baby gym adalah upaya untuk meningkatkan kualitas tidur pada bayi.  Masalah tidur pada bayi di Indonesia cukup banyak, yaitu sekitar 44,2% bayi mengalami gangguan tidur seperti sering terbangun di malam hari. Namun lebih dari 72% orang tua menganggap gangguan tidur bukan suatu masalah atau hanya masalah kecil, hal tersebut diungkapkan oleh sebuah penelitian pada tahun 2014-2015 yang dilaksanakan di lima kota besar di Indonesia Berdasarkan data awal terdapat 20 bayi yang datang ke posyandu dan ditemukan 17 bayi yang mengalami gangguan tidur. Tujuan penelitian untuk mengetahui efektivitas baby massage dan baby gym terhadap kualitas tidur bayi usia 3-6 bulan di Desa Talang Tegal. Jenis penelitian adalah kuantitatif dengan two group pre and post test  design. Sampel sebanyak 34 bayi yang diberikan perlakuan baby massage dan baby gym dilakukan selama 2 minggu 3x seminggu, untuk baby massage 15 menit sedangkan untuk baby gym 5 menit. Terdapat pengaruh baby massage terhadap kualitas tidur bayi usia 3-6 bulan dengan  p value 0.000. Terdapat pengaruh baby gym terhadap kualitas tidur bayi usia 3-6 bulan dengan  p value 0,001. Tidak terdapat perbedaan efektivitas baby massage dan baby gym terhadap kualitas tidur bayi usia 3 – 6 bulan. Kata kunci : baby gym; baby massage; kualitas tidur bayi  The Effectiveness of Baby Massage And Baby Gym on Sleep Quality of 3-6 Months Baby ABSTRACT  Baby massage and baby gym are efforts to improve the quality of sleep in babies. There are quite a number of sleep problems in infants in Indonesia, which is around 44.2% of infants experiencing sleep disorders such as frequent awakenings at night. However, more than 72% of parents consider sleep disturbances not a problem or just a minor problem, this was revealed by a 2014-2015 study conducted in five major cities in Indonesia. Based on initial data there were 20 babies who came to the Integrated Healthcare Centre and found 17 babies with sleep disorders. The purpose of the study was to determine the effectiveness of baby massage and baby gym on the sleep quality of baby aged 3-6 months in Talang Tegal Village. This type of research was quantitative with two groups pre-post test design. A sample of 34 babies who were given baby massage and baby gym treatment was carried out for 2 weeks 3 time each week, for baby massage 15 minutes while for baby gym 5 minutes. There is an effect of baby massage on the sleep quality of babies aged 3-6 months with a p value of 0.000. There is an effect of baby gym on the sleep quality of babies aged 3-6 months with a p value of 0.001. There is no difference in the effectiveness of baby massage and baby gym on the sleep quality of babies aged 3-6 months. Keywords: baby gym; baby massages; sleep quality of baby

Relevance of the topic. Most authors agree that physical activity (PA) affects sleep (Kredlow et al., 2015), but it remains unclear how the quality of sleep varies with individual PA schedule and daily immobility. The goal was to identify the interfaces between physical activity and sleep quality for 18–25-year-old students. Research methods. The International Physical Activity Questionnaire, Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index, smart watches Polar A300 were used. Results of the study. By analysing the obtained study data, 2 groups were formed according to physical activity: medium PA (56.1%) and high PA (43.9%). The quality of sleep among students was as follows: good (36.4%), bad (63.6%). Signifcant correlations were found between PA aspects and falling asleep time, PSQI. There were no signifcant interfaces between PA aspects and sleep duration. Conclusions. The majority of students were of moderate physical activity, less high physical activity and there were no students of low physical activity. Poor quality of sleep prevailed among students. Weak interfaces were identifed between continuous sitting and the time of useless sleep. Dependences were also found between sleep quality and the duration of intense physical activity as well as the level of physical activity. Signifcant dependencies were not established between the time of day of intense physical activity or the intense physical activity type and sleep quality itself, although the latter signifcantly affected the duration of sleep, the time of awakening and the length of useless sleep.Keywords: students, physical activity, sleep quality, long sitting.

Sử dụng thang đo PSQI và PHQ-ADS để đánh giá chất lượng giấc ngủ, và tình trạng trầm cảm lo âu ở bệnh nhân ung thư. Phân tích hồi quy đa biến tuyến tính dùng để kiểm định mối tương quan giữa chất lượng giấc ngủ và các yếu tố liên quan. Kết quả: Đối tượng nghiên cứu có độ tuổi trung bình 59,6 ± 11,7. Điểm PSQI trung bình chất lượng giấc ngủ là 10,6 ± 5,2. Phần lớn bệnh nhân có chất lượng giấc ngủ kém (79,8%); trong đó, 50% bệnh nhân gặp trở ngại lớn để đi vào giấc ngủ, có đến 46,2% chỉ ngủ được 5 giờ trong một đêm. Sleep quality (Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index), severity of anxiety and depression (Patient Health Questionnaire - Anxiety and Depression Scale) were accessed in the present study. Linear regression analysis was used to investigate the association between sleep quality and its related factors. Results: The mean age of study population was 59.6 ± 11.7. The average PSQI score was 10.6 ± 5.2. 79.8% cancer patients had poor sleep quality (PSQI score > 5). 50% patients had difficulty falling asleep and 46.2% patients reported sleep of < 5 hours per day. Poor sleep is associated with bad health outcomes, worse wellbeing and decreases in performance, productivity and safety at work. Police officers are exposed to several risk factors including extended work schedules, shift work, occupational stress, dangerous and traumatic events and can, as such, develop sleep problems. The aim of the present study was to analyze the sleep quality among police officers. A systematic literature search, in PubMed/MEDLINE, PsycINFO, Scopus, ISI/Web of Science (WoS) and the Cochrane Library was conducted. Original articles, published in English, French, Italian, Spanish and Portuguese, the primary objective of which was the evaluation of the quality of sleep through the Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index (PSQI) in Police Forces, were selected. From an initial sample of 1,149 studies, 13 articles were included in the meta-analysis (3,722 police officers). The pooled prevalence of bad sleep quality in police officers was 51% [95%CI 42–60%]. The pooled global score of the PSQI was 5.6 [95%CI 5.0–6.3], corresponding to a low average quality. At the meta-regressions, statistically significant associations could be found for work seniority (in terms of years of service) and being on shift. The poor quality of sleep in police officers could have negative consequences for workers’ health and for the safety of third parts. The implementation of health and sleep hygiene promotion programs in police forces is strongly recommended.

Objectives: Sleep has been one of God’s most precious blessings since human’s existence and it is vital for both body and soul. External and internal factors like age, sex, drug, illness, psychological pressure, job, life style and Earth’s magnetic field influence quality of sleep drastically. In this study we tended to find the relationship between geographical direction during sleeping process and quality of sleep. Methods: In a cross-sectional descriptive study, 200 students from university of Iran, Mazandaran province were selected arbitrarily. After exclusion, based on exclusion criteria, the number of research’s samples reached to 153. Tools used regarding collecting data were standard Pittsburg sleep quality inventory (PSQI) in order to assess the quality of the sleep. Symptom Checklist-90-Revised (SCL- 90-R) was used in order to study psychiatric symptoms and an anonymous demographic questionnaire was used to record personal information, filled by individuals. Software Spss17 with chi-square were used for statistical analysis procedure. Results: 30.7%(47cases) slept in north-south direction, 22.8%(35) in south north, 26.2%(40) in east west and 20.3%(31) in west east. Among PSQI sleep scales, there was a strong relationship between difficulties in falling asleep with geographical directions of sleep (p<0.001). No significant relationship between sleep directions and other scales has been found. Conclusion: Considering the high prevalence of sleep difficulties and strong relationship between geographical directions and quality of sleep. With respect to this study, sleep in north-south position can be advised to improve sleep quality and it necessary in order to maintain sleep hygiene.
