The given article deals with some issues of foreign student’s educational process organization in teaching professionally-oriented English to university students of non-foreign language faculties taking into consideration their peculiarities as well as certain factors influencing upon the educational process efficiency. The article points out the difficulties that foreign students might experience when studying at the Russian Institution of higher education. As a means of solving the problem it is suggested to employ the most relevant methods of teaching in the educational process and to operate at three working languages: English, Russian and Arabic.

The article is devoted to the psychological and pedagogical substantiation of the expediency of learning foreign languages while studying in the institution of higher education. The authors analyse the current educational process in Ukrainian and identify the most important factors influencing the formation of qualified professionals and establish the role of foreign language in each of these factors. It was found that studying can be extremely intensified due to learning a foreign language. It is established that learning foreign languages increases a person’s ability to develop intellectually. Данная статья посвящена особенностям формирования иноязычной коммуникативной компетентности студентов вуза в условиях дистанционного обучения. Актуальность проводимого исследования заключается в попытке разрешения противоречия между необходимостью использования информационно-коммуникационных технологий, в том числе и дистанционного обучения, в образовательном процессе высших учебных заведений и недостаточностью условий для реализации их инновационного потенциала. В этой связи автором была уточнена сущность понятий «дистанционное образование», «дистанционное обучение», «дистанционные образовательные технологии», «онлайн-обучение», определена их роль в контексте новой образовательной парадигмы современности, проанализирован практический опыт применения онлайн-обучения в целях формирования иноязычной коммуникативной компетентности студентов вуза, а также даны рекомендации по использованию цифровых ресурсов на занятиях по практическому курсу французского языка. В ходе наблюдения за учебным процессом в дистанционном формате и беседы со студентами 4 курса Института лингвистики и мировых языков Калужского государственного университета им. К.Э. Циолковского, автор приходит к выводу, что при условии решения ряда проблем организационного и технического характера дистанционное обучение представляет большие перспективы в развитии высшего образования в России. This article is devoted to the peculiarities of formation of foreign-language communicative competence of university students in the conditions of distance learning. The relevance of the research is an attempt to resolve the contradiction between the need to use information and communication technologies, including distance learning, in the educational process of higher education institutions and the lack of conditions for the realization of their innovative potential. In this regard, the author clarified the essence of the concepts of «distance education», «distance learning», «distance learning technologies», «online learning», defined their role in the context of the new educational paradigm, analyzed the practical experience of using online learning in order to form the foreign language communicative competence of university students and gave recommendations for the application of digital resources in the practical French course. During the observation of the learning process in a distance format and conversation with fourth-year students of the Institute of Linguistics and World Languages of K.E. Tsiolkovsky Kaluga State University, the author concludes that if a number of organizational and technical problems are solved, distance learning is very promising for the development of higher education in Russia. The article is intended for employees of the education system, researchers and teachers-practitioners.

The paper provides an overview of the existing classifications of competencies related to the teaching of foreign languages in the higher education system. The work identifies separate classifications of competencies shaping an expert able to use a foreign language confidently for professional purposes, reviews the definitions of competencies provided in various studies. The author concludes about the ambiguity and heterogeneity of interpretations of the term “competence” in the academic and methodological works. Still, it is recognized that in all studies, there is awareness that the term “competence” is a complex concept in its structure. Competence is a sum of knowledge, skills and personal qualities helping a person to act independently in various professional and scientific areas and in line with the changing pragmatic conditions of communication. The author raises a question whether the competence-based approach is a key factor in improving the academic outcome and competence of the 21st century workforce, analyzes the feasibility of applying individual competencies in teaching a foreign language in non-language universities in order to determine the real potential of this approach for solving problems in the paradigm of higher education. The key takeaway is about the need for careful selection of competencies, whose successful formation is feasible in the given conditions and in line with the goals of the modern educational process.

Introduction. Since the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic, distance learning has become the main way to get education in higher education institutions in the Russian Federation. In the new conditions of academic activity, it is necessary to review approaches to the organization of training, existing methods and technologies for teaching Russian as a foreign language (RKI). Materials and methods. The purpose of the research is to show the advantages and disadvantages of the process of teaching Russian as a foreign language in a remote format from the point of view of foreign students and teachers of Russian as a foreign language. To achieve this goal, the authors use the following methods: the questionnaire method, the method of comparative analysis and systematization, and the content analysis method. The survey included 138 foreign students of the pre-University program from 29 countries and 52 teachers of Russian as a foreign language from Peter the Great Saint Petersburg Polytechnic University (SPbPU). Results. The survey made it possible to identify the advantages and disadvantages of distance learning in the organizational aspect, in the psychological aspect (for students and teachers), in the methodological aspect for teachers and in the educational (educational) aspect for students. The advantages of distance learning include, first of all, saving time on the road (93% of students) and the availability of electronic educational resources (89% of students and 100 % of teachers), etc. The main disadvantages are: complete dependence on technology and the quality of the Internet (100% of students and teachers); lack of practical communication in Russian (96% of students); an increase in the share of independent work in the educational process (91% of students); a significant increase in the amount of time spent preparing for classes (100% of teachers); the negative impact of distance learning on health (100%), etc. Discussion and conclusion. The results of the survey allow us to determine the trajectory of further methodological research in the development of new learning technologies. In modern conditions, online learning is becoming an integral part of the educational process, in which the technological learning environment should contribute to the formation of an innovative model of academic activity of foreign students in language training for higher education in the Russian Federation.

The article attempts to identify effective methods of teaching Ukrainian as a foreign language and to base them on the European experience. The most commonly used methods in the European practice of foreign language teaching are characterized: communicative, project, audio-lingual, distance, intensive and blended learning. The advantages of the blended learning system are examined. An interpretation of the term "blended learning" is proposed. The features of the organization of online learning and the structure of blended learning are described. The data of the conducted survey are presented: a) teachers conducting classes in Ukrainian as a foreign language; b) foreign students from different countries. Questionnaire was developed for the survey. The article proposes some tasks for teachers of Ukrainian as a foreign language, commenting on the specifics of different models of blended learning. Based on the results of the survey, the respondents outlined effective methods of teaching a foreign language, identified factors that influence the use of the blended learning model of future doctors when teaching Ukrainian as a foreign language. The advantages and prospects of using blended learning in the educational process of a higher medical institution are analyzed. The results of the study strongly suggest that the blended learning model opens up new possibilities for presenting educational material in a new and accessible form for students.

The paper considers various approaches to studying the self-organization of students’ educational activity, the assumption about the interrelation of self-organization of educational activity and time perspective of the individual is made. The importance of self-organization of educational activity in the modern education system of higher education institutions comes to light. Stages of formation of self-organization and possible difficulties which a person can face are sorted out. Results of basic research of the time perspective and self-organization of university students are stated. The interrelation between commitment and alloted time is defined, as well as regularity, emotional coloring of time, structure of time and feeling of time. The received results specify the possible directions of the organization of forms of psychological support of university students having problems with self-organization of time in the educational process.

The aim of this paper is the evaluation of the success of graduating with distinction in higher education (SGDHE) using the fuzzy DEMATEL method. The observation has been done using cause and effect criteria. 11 cause and 14 effect clusters have been used in this study. The study result of this work shows that all the effects are connected to the given causes and a cause-effect graph has been generated for each connection. This proposed approach is demonstrated with the empirical case of Dire Dawa University students in Dire Dawa Ethiopia.

This article introduces the theoretical and methodological foundations for studying the development of identity and tolerance in foreign university students. The research featured the organization of the educational process that encourages the development of personality identity and tolerance in foreign students. The authors defined the main directions and approaches to the problem of identity and tolerance development as a set of skills. The article describes the identity and tolerance profile of foreign students that study at Russian universities. The author proved that tolerance developed under the effect of national, cultural, and religious factors, as new sociocultural environment affected the personal characteristics of foreign students. The results were both positive and negative, thus forming both tolerant and intolerant attitudes. Subsequently, the personality profile of foreign students demonstrated a combination of tolerant and intolerant traits. The levels of ethnic nihilism and egoism were low; so were the levels of ethnic isolationism and fanaticism. The level of ethnic and social tolerance appeared average. The ethnic indifference and communicative tolerance were also at an average level. However, the level of positive ethnic identity was high. The research revealed a link between tolerance and ethnic identity in foreign students. The results can help to organize the development of identity and tolerance in foreign students.

The growing popularity of the Russian higher education in the world and the growing number of foreign students in the universities of Russia arouse interest to the issues of interethnic interaction and adaptation to the academic environment of an internationally oriented university. The article is devoted to the problem of higher education enhancing in the modern multinational academic environment of Russian internationally oriented universities. The purpose of the study is to analyze the gender specificity of the interethnic relations between the representatives of different ethnic groups in the process of pedagogical interaction in the Russian-speaking educational environment of an internationally-oriented university. The study reveals how gender stereotypes of a student and a teacher are determined by the national culture with its inherent traditional structure of gender roles.There was conducted a survey among the foreign students of the pre-university and other faculties of RUDN University. 98 students from China, 46 students from Iran, 10 students from Azerbaijan, 18 students from Afghanistan, 25 students from Vietnam, 18 students from Lebanon, 21 students from Mongolia, 33 students from Turkmenistan, 15 students from Uzbekistan and 18 students from Ecuador (a total of 348 foreign students) took part in the survey. Having analyzed the answers of the respondents, the authors made the conclusion about the influence of gender on the interethnic relations in an internationally oriented university, in particular, in the pedagogical interaction process in multiethnic groups. On the basis of the data presented, the authors prove the presence of ethnocultural features of gender and the importance of taking them into account for harmonizing interethnic interaction and the educational process enhancing
