This study was aimed at explaining jewelry production, its development and implications of the developing trends. This study was conducted in Celuk Village, Gianyar Regency, a place or arena of production, distribution and at the same time sale of jewelry in Bali, Indonesia, in which Celuk is regarded as the basis for jewelry. This paper explains the development of jewelry at the beginning of the emergence of tourism and the implications, and the introduction of casting machine as the method of production which had an implication in the change of human labor, in which the artisans became machine power regarded as more professional in jewelry production. The data of this ethnographic study were collected through observation, in-depth interview, library research, and internet search. The finding showed that the presence of jewelry that is developing in Celuk Village does not give an optimal positive contribution to the community of the village as artisans, but in stead, it gives profits to the people outside the village who are involved in the development of the jewelry trends. The entrance of tourism with the implication on the high level of jewelry production and sale in Celuk Village started from 1980s gave profits to tour guides who were regarded as the ones who deserve to get fee in a large amount by the artisans. When there was a trend in jewelry in 2010-2014, in which the demand for jewelry like accessories for kebaya cloth for going to the temple and a ring with gemstone drove away the artisans whose position had been replaced by casting machines and workers who came from outside of Celuk Village who were regarded more professional by jewelry business people in producing standard jewelry in a large quantity. In this paper it is understood that artisans in Celuk Village are not able to obtain an optimal use from jewelry trends that develop in their location due to various factors such as the low level of education of the artisans, low level of profesionalism in working, and the low level of ability of the artisans in production management

This study is devoted to answering two questions: (1) Do individuals’ worries and sufferings correlate with the acceptability of corruption from their perspectives? (2) Does this correlation differ by country in terms of corruption levels? We focus on analyzing the correlation between macro and micro worries, on one hand, and individual acceptability of corrupt behavior, on the other hand. This study is based on the data from the 6th-wave World Value Survey. We identified three groups of countries based on the corruption perception index: countries with low-level corruption (Australia, The Netherlands, New Zealand, Singapore, and Sweden), countries with medium-level corruption (Belarus, China, South Korea, Malaysia, and Romania), and countries with high-level corruption (Russia, Brazil, Colombia, Peru, and Thailand). For the purposes of our analysis, we used structural equation modeling. We have found that macro and micro worries are significantly correlated with the acceptability of corruption. Our analysis shows that the more the people worry about themselves or their families, the more they accept corruption. The people who worry about society are more likely to disapprove of corruption. However, the significance of these links varies, depending on the group of countries. For the countries with low-level corruption, the correlation is significant only for the link between micro worries and the acceptability of corruption. The countries with high-level corruption show a significant correlation only for the link between macro worries and the acceptability of corruption. For countries with medium-level corruption and for Russia, the acceptability of corruption is significantly correlated with both micro and macro worries.

For the people of Bungbungan, it is imperative that they build a new house, especially when they have a daughter. This is based on the concept of tanéyan lanjhâng which adheres to auxorilocality and matrilocality. The purpose of this study is to describe the essence of a house for the Bungbungan community, various important guidelines in the preparation of building a new house, various ritual offerings, and ritual practice of essér jemmu’. This study is an ethnographic study based on Pierre Bourdieu’s habitus theory to describe the pattern of relations between Islam in the context of pesantren and of the villagers in addressing the ritual of essér jemmu’ as an ecological adaptation ritual in a house construction. The result of this study shows that the house could be a symbol of social status as well as a sign that girls should not be brought to their husband’s house. The process of building a new house begins with various rituals influenced by myths including to determine the direction and layout of the house which are based on the pancabara and babukon. Various offerings are put into a polo’ then planted in the yard. The practice of essér jemmu’ ritual consists of prayers and ritual practices led by a kiai from pesantren or from the village, in which it shows a pattern of domination-subordination relationship of Islam of the pesantren to village Islam.

Citizenship Politics in Majanggut I Village is the topic that will be discussed in this research. Maintaining the consolidation of democracy in the midst of the high level of cultural, religious and ethnic diversity is not an easy matter to implement. A political integration formula is needed to combine the demands of unity and diversity. The liberal democracy that is developing at the moment is apparently understood differently by the people in North Sumatra because it is given through a state-centric mechanism. This study uses descriptive qualitative methods. The use of fieldwork with the observation method was carried out. In addition to observation, interviews were also carried out both to the Village Government, Majanggut I, and to the village community. In addition to interviews, various kinds of documentation and literature studies were also used to strengthen the results of this study. The results showed that Majanggut I villagers' understanding of democracy is still limited to the conception of political contestation. Opportunities for locality values to be accommodated in democracy are very open, even though the values of locality in the village are fading away. The Citizenship Politics in Majanggut I Village has not placed citizens as actors of democracy itself. The people of Majanggut I village are still the objects of democracy itself. This indication can be seen from the lack of participation of the village community in the development process in the village and in the process of political development, including in the contestation of village head elections.

In this study, the researcher used a normative research methodby examining the village regulations in depth. Primary legal materials are authoritatuve legal materials in the form of laws and regulations. Village dependence is the most obvious violence against village income or financial sources. Various financial assistance from the government has made the village dependent on financial sources from the government. The use of regional development funds is intended to support activities in the management of Regional Development organizations. Therefore, development funds should be managed properly and smoothly, as well as can be used effectively to increase the people economy in the regions. This research shows that the law was made to regulate and support the development of local economic potential as well as the sustainable use of natural resources and the environment, and that the village community has the right to obtain information and monitor the planning and implementation of village development.

The Handicraft of embroidery “palaminan” in Nareh Pariaman is an old culture product which is used for social purposes. As the time goes, now, the “palaminan” is not only used by the king or noblesse. Right now, it has been used in mostly wedding parties of Minangkabau tradition. It is used as the seat of the bride groom and bride who are called king and queen for a day. Regarding this theme, when we see the several various of palaminan, it looks like been influenced by the Chinese and Hindi/Gujarat Custom. Such as phoenix 9(bird) and lion decorated at the “palaminan”, or for the Gujarat custom, there are embroidery with mirrors that decorate the palaminan. The mirror embroidered for the people of Nareh Pariaman has the meaning “suluah bendang” in the village. The art of embroidery palaminan Nareh Pariaman has many structures which are connected to each other. They can not be separated in each use. The structures are decorated by the many kinds of Minangkabau decoration. Most of the decorating comes from application of the Minangkabau’sphilosophy known as “alam takambang Jadi Guru”.
