This study aims to examine students' problem solving abilities in mathematics with different achievement motivation between those taught through problem based learning and discussion. The design of this study uses quasi-experimental forms of Non-equivalent Control Group Design. The experimental group from this study was given PBL treatment, while the control group was treated with the discussion method. The data of this study were analyzed by the Univariate Analysis of Variance technique. The results showed that (1) there was a significant effect between PBL models and discussion models on students 'problem solving abilities, (2) there was a significant effect between students with high and low achievement motivation on students' problem solving abilities, (3) there were interactions between PBL models, achievement motivation and student problem solving abilities. So that it can be concluded that students who learn with the PBL model have a better ability to solve problems than students who learn with a discussion model. Students with high achievement motivation have better problem solving skills than students with low achievement motivation. The final conclusion is that students' problem solving abilities can be achieved well if they pay attention to both variables at once, namely the model and achievement motivation.

Penelitian ini bertujuan menguji pengaruh model PBL terhadap kemampuan pemecahan masalah geografi SMA. Penelitian dilakukan di SMA Negeri 1 Sooko tahun ajaran 2015/2016. Subjek penelitian merupakan siswa kelas XI IPS 2 dan 3. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian eksperimen semu (quasi experiment) dengan desain Non Equivalent Control Group Design. Berdasarkan selisih nilai pre test dan post test, rata-rata gain score kemampuan pemecahan masalah geografi SMA kelas eksperimen lebih tinggi dengan skor 27,26 dibandingkan dengan kelas kontrol dengan skor 11,88. Hasil perhitungan analisis uji t menggunakan independen sample t test diperoleh data p-level lebih kecil dari 0,05 (p<0,05) yaitu 0,00. Hasil perhitungan ini membuktikan bahwa model PBL berpengaruh terhadap kemampuan pemecahan masalah geografi SMA. Jadi, dapat disimpulkan bahwa model PBL berpengaruh terhadap kemampuan pemecahan masalah geografi SMAN 1 Sooko.Kata Kunci: Model Problem Based Learning, Kemampuan Pemecahan MasalahThe purpose of this study was to clarify the effect of the PBL model of problem-solving ability. This study do in SMA Negeri 1 Sooko 2015/2016. Study of the subject is the student of class XI IPS 2 dan 3. Form of quasi-experimental research design with non equivalent design control group. Subjects were selected based on the value of Middle Exam School (UTS) semester who have the same average (homogeneous). Control using a model class lectures and discussions, while the experimental class using PBL models. Gain score Data were analyzed using independent sample T-test Test with the help of the computer program SPSS 16.0 for Windows. Gainscore learning using PBL model of higher than conventional. The average value of the experiment gainscore class of 27, 26 and 11.88 of control. The results of the analysis of the Independent Sample T-Test Test, the difference shows a p-value of 0.000 level. The level of p-value less than 0.05 (P <0.05). The results of this study there was a significant effect PBL models to the problem-solving abilities. So the conclusion "PBL model significantly influential to the high school geography problem solving skills in SMAN 1 Sooko".Key Words: models of PBL, problem-solving abilities

Mathematical logical intelligence is one of the skills that are needed in the 21st century related to mathematical problem-solving skills. The importance of this skill is not in line with the facts on the ground, where students are still weak in counting and using logic in problem solving. The purpose of this research is to improve students’ mathematical logical intelligence through the online-based integration of local wisdom of Sulapa Eppa Walasuji. Sulapa Eppa Walasuji is one of the Bugis-Makassar local wisdoms with a unique pattern, appropriate to be used as a medium for learning transformation of geometry. Through the integration of local wisdom, Sulapa Eppa Walasuji can create contextual mathematics learning, so that students can easily understand the material by connecting real-life concepts. This research includes experimental research with a quasi-experimental design of the nonequivalent control group design type. The research instrument used was a mathematical logical intelligence test consisting of five essay questions. The data analysis used is descriptive statistics with gain score and effect size testing. The results showed that the mathematical logical intelligence of experimental class students increased by 43.16 with the effective contribution of the r effect size being 0.910. This indicates that the online-based integration of Sulapa Eppa Walasuji can improve students’ mathematical logical intelligence.

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui perbedaan keefektifan antara pembelajaran: (1) antara model Problem-Based Learning, Problem Solving, dan Inquiry; (2) model Problem-Based Learning dan model Problem Solving; (3) model Problem-Based Learning dan model Inquiry; dan (4) model Problem Solving dan model Inquiry. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode penelitian kuantitatif jenis eksperimen semu dengan posttest-only control group design yang sudah dimodifikasi sesuai dengan quasi-experimental research. Pengumpulan data menggunakan cara dokumentasi yaitu berupa jumlah peserta didik, nilai rapot sebagai skor awal, perangkat pembelajaran, dan tes hasil belajar. Analisis data menggunakan one way anava pada taraf signifikansi 0.05. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa, pembelajaran dengan menggunakan pendekatan saintifik model Problem-Based Learning, Problem Solving, dan Inquiry terdapat perbedaan keefektifan. The research data were obtained through documentation of the number of learners, raport book score as the initial score, learning devices, and evaluation. The data analysis technique was one way ANOVA at the significance level of 0.05. The results show that there is a significance difference in learning by using the scientific approach of Problem-Based Learning, Problem Solving, and Inquiry. The null hypothesis is accepted in the second hypothesis testting. There is no effectiveness difference in the scientific approach with the model of Problem-Based Learning and Problem Solving; in the third hypothesis testing, there is an effectiveness difference in the scientific approach with the model of Problem-Based Learning and Inquiry; and in the fourth hypothesis testing, there is an effectiveness difference in the scientific approach with the model of Problem Solving and Inquiry.Keywords: the effectiveness of scientific approach, PBL, PS, Inquiry

The purpose of this study was to analyze the mathematical problem-solving ability and characters of students who were taught using problem-based learning and ordinary learning based on Islamic perspectives. The instrument used in this study was a test of problem-solving ability and a students’ character questionnaire. This research was a quasi-experimental research with pre-test and post-test control group design. The sample of this research was 84 students from Private Islamic School in Medan, North Sumatera, by using a purposive sampling technique. The data in this research was declared homogenous and normal after being tested using the Levene’s Test and Kolmogorov-Smirnov Test. The hypothesis analyzes used was the Two Way-ANOVA test assisted by SPSS 25. The result showed that there was an improvement in mathematical problem-solving ability and students' characters through problem-based learning based on Islamic perspectives. However, there was no interaction between students' gender and problem-solving ability and character improvement based on Islamic perspectives. The gender factor in problem-based learning was not related to students’ cognitive and affective aspects. Each student with any gender had difference characters, especially related to Islamic perspectives. This research-proven that problem-based learning model had an important role in teaching and learning, and it can be used to improve students' mathematical and character problem-solving ability.

<p class="apa">Problem-based Learning (PBL) approach has been widely used in various disciplines since it is claimed to improve students’ soft skills. However, empirical supports on the effect of PBL on problem solving skills have been lacking and anecdotal in nature. This study aimed to determine the effect of PBL approach on students’ problem solving skills using a quasi-experimental non-equivalent group pretest–posttest design. Fifty management students from a premier Technical University in Malaysia were assigned to experimental and control groups. In the experimental group, students were given four problems to be solved and their solutions of the problems given were assessed in terms of their accuracy and quality. Students in the control group received conventional classroom instructional design. Results indicate that students in the experimental group have better problem solving skills (<em>z</em>: -4.220, <em>p</em>: 0.001 for accuracy and <em>z</em>: -2.594, <em>p</em>: 0.009 for quality) compared to those who were not exposed to the PBL approach. This finding substantiates the use of PBL as an effective instructional tool to improve students’ problem solving abilities.</p>

ABSTRAKPenelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh model pembelajaran perolehan konsep berbasis masalah  terhadap kemampuan pemecahan masalah dan pemahaman konsep fisika peserta didik  kelas XI MIA MAN 1 Mataram. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian quasi experiment dengan desain penelitian non-equivalent control group design. Subjek dari penelitian ini adalah peserta didik kelas XI MIA 1 sebanyak 37 peserta didik sebagai kelas eksperimen dan kelas XI MIA 2 sebanyak 38 peserta didik sebagai kelas kontrol. Kelas eksperimen diberi perlakuan berupa model pembelajaran perolehan konsep berbasis masalah sedangkan kelas kontrol diberi perlakuan berupa pembelajaran konvensional. Tes uraian digunakan untuk mengukur kemampuan pemecahan masalah fisika peserta didik berjumlah 5 butir soal dan tes pilihan ganda untuk mengukur pemahaman konsep fisika peserta didik sebanyak 10 butir soal yang sudah diuji validitas, reliabilitas, daya pembeda dan tingkat kesukarannya. Hipotesis penelitian diuji menggunakan uji MANOVA. Hasil uji hipotesis menunjukkan nilai signifikansi sebesar 0,00. Taraf signifikan yang digunakan ialah 0,05 maka dapat dikatakan 0,00 < 0,05 yang artinya bahwa H0 ditolak dan Ha diterima, sehingga dapat disimpulkan bahwa terdapat pengaruh model pembelajaran perolehan konsep berbasis masalah terhadap kemampuan pemecahan masalah dan pemahaman konsep fisika peserta didik kelas XI MIA MAN1 Mataram. Kata kunci: model pembelajaran perolehan konsep berbasis masalah; kemampuan pemecahan masalah; pemahaman konsep. ABSTRACTThis study aims to determine the effect of the learning model of problem-based concept acquisition on problem solving abilities and understanding of physics concepts of students of class XI MIA MAN 1 Mataram. This research is a quasi-experimental with a non-equivalent control group design. The subjects of this study were 37 XI MIA 1 students as experimental class and 38 MIA 2 XI students as control class. The experimental class given treatment problem-based concept learning model while the control class given treatment conventional learning. Description test is used to measure the students 'physical problem-solving abilities totaling 5 items and multiple choice tests to measure students' understanding of physics concepts by 10 items that have been tested for validity, reliability, distinguishing power and degree of difficulty. The research hypothesis was tested using the MANOVA test. The results of the hypothesis test showed a significance value of 0.00. Significant level used is 0.05, it can be said to be 0.00 <0.05, which means that H0 is rejected and Ha accepted, so can be concluded that there are significant acquisition of concept-based learning model on problem solving skills and understanding of physics concepts of students of class XI MIA MAN 1 Mataram. Keywords: concept attainment learning model of problem based; problem solving abilities; understanding concept

The aim of this research was to investigate the effect of problem-based learning on students’ beliefs about physics and learning physics. The research design is quasi-experimental, non-equivalent control group design with samples were senior high school students grade XI at SMAN 1 Jambi City. The research used the Colorado Learning Atttudes About Science Survey (CLASS). Through data analysis using ANCOVA Test can be seen that there was no significant result effect of problem-based learning on students’ beliefs about physics and learning physics. The study’s finding indicates that students’ beliefs about characteristic and obtaining knowledge are difficult to change. Nonetheless, the use of various learning models that focus on the formation of the model building on the physics world through problem solving that are contextual and real, as well as providing opportunities for students to actively engage in problem solving can help students develop the belief that they have about the physics from novice-like belief into expert-like belief.Penelitian ini bertujuan menginvestigasi pengaruh penggunaan model pembelajaran berbasis masalah terhadap belief siswa tentang fisika dan pembelajaran fisika. Desain penelitian kuasi eksperimen non-equivalent control group design dengan sampel siswa kelas XI Sekolah Menengah Atas Negeri (SMAN) 1 Kota Jambi. Instrumen penelitian yang digunakan adalah kuesioner the Colorado Learning Attitudes About Science Survey (CLASS). Hasil uji Ancova terlihat bahwa tidak ada pengaruh signifikan penggunaan model pembelajaran berbasis masalah terhadap belief siswa tentang fisika dan pembelajaran fisika. Temuan penelitian mengindikasikan bahwa belief siswa tentang karakteristik dan cara memperoleh suatu pengetahuan sulit untuk diubah. Meskipun demikian, penggunaan berbagai model pembelajaran yang berfokus pada pada pembentukan model (model-building) dari dunia fisika melalui pemecahan masalah-masalah yang bersifat kontekstual dan nyata, serta memberikan kesempatan siswa untuk aktif terlibat dalam pemecahan masalah dapat membantu siswa mengembangkan belief yang mereka miliki tentang fisika dari belief sebagai seorang pemula (novice-like belief) menjadi belief sebagai seorang ahli (expert-like belief).

The background of the study is the low achievement motivation of the studentsin which they are unable to show their potential optimally. Thisstudy aims to increase the students’achievementmotivation throughroleplay. The study employed a quasi-experimental method with a nonequivalent (pretest and posttest) control group design. The participants of the study were the grade X students ofSMAN 6  Bandung in academic year 2019/2020. The result shows that students’ achievement motivation is increased through role play. Role playtechniqueis able to provide changes in the students’ attitudes which are supported by the results of the assessment conducted on selected students as assessors.

<p><strong>Abstract:</strong> Biology learning must utilize technology and direct students to have problem solving skills, so that learning innovations are blended-problem based learning. This study aims to look at the effectiveness of blended-problem based learning on problem solving, when compared to learning that applies the scientific approach (5M). This study categorized as quasi-experimental research, using the design of the pretest-posttest control group. The independent t-test obtained the sig value. 0.00 &lt;0.05, so that it can be interpreted that the posttest value of the executive class and control is significantly different. N-Gain score testing was obtained from the 0.70 high category experimental class, while 0.298 for the low category control class. Based on these data, blended-problem based learning can be said to be effective against solving ecological chapter problems.</p><strong>Abstrak:</strong> Pembelajaran Biologi harus memanfaatkan teknologi dan mengarahkan peserta didik memiliki kemampuan pemecahan masalah sehingga memunculkan inovasi pembelajaran <em>blended-problem based learning. </em>Penelitian ini bertujuan melihat keefektifan <em>blended-problem based learning </em>pada pemecahan masalah, jika dibandingkan pembelajaran yang menerapkan pendekatan <em>saintifik </em>(5M). Penelitian ini dikategorikan penelitian eksperimen semu menggunakan desain <em>pretest-posttest control group. </em>Uji <em>independent t-test </em>memperoleh nilai sig. 0,00&lt;0,05, sehingga dapat diartikan nilai <em>posttest </em>kelas ekseprimen dan kontrol berbeda signinifikan. Pengujian N-Gain <em>score </em>diperoleh reratal kelas ekspeimen 0,70 kategori tinggi, sedangkan 0,298 untuk kelas kontrol kategori rendah. Berdasarkan data tersebut, <em>blended-problem based learning </em>dapat dikatakan efektif terhadap pemecahan masalah bab ekologi.

ENHANCEMENT OF PHYSICS PROBLEM-SOLVING SKILLS WITH INQUIRY-DISCOVERY LEARNING MODEL AbstractThe purpose of this study was to determine differences in problem solving abilities of students who were given inquiry-discovery learning through web-assisted empirical-theoretical reviews with students who were given conventional learning. This study uses a quasi-experimental pretest-posttest control group design. The average gain score of the problem solving ability test shows that students who are taught with inquiry-discovery learning through web-assisted empirical-theoretical reviews are higher than students who are taught with conventional learning. Hypothesis test results show that students who are learning with inquiry-discovery learning through web-assisted empirical-theoretical reviews have higher problem solving abilities than students who are taught with conventional learning, this also applies to students with high or low initial abilities. AbstrakTujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui perbedaan kemampuan pemecahan masalah siswa yang diberi pembelajaran inquiry-discovery melalui tinjuan empiris-teoritis berbantuan web dengan siswa yang diberi pembelajaran konvensional. Penelitian ini menggunakan rancangan quasi exsperiment pretest-posttest control group design. Hasil rata-rata gain score tes kemampuan pemecahan masalah menunjukkan siswa yang dibelajarkan dengan pembelajaran inquiry-discovery melalui tinjuan empiris-teoritis berbantuan web lebih tinggi daripada siswa yang dibelajarkan dengan pembelajaran konvensional. Hasil uji hipotesis menunjukkan bahwa siswa yang dibelajarakan dengan pembelajaran inquiry-discovery melalui tinjuan empiris-teoritis berbantuan web memiliki peningkatan kemampuan pemecahan masalah lebih tinggi daripada siswa yang dibelajarakan dengan pembelajaran konvensional, hal ini juga berlaku pada siswa yang berkemampuan awal tinggi maupun rendah.
