Excessive fat accumulation in the obese body causes chronic low-grade inflammation. The continuous occurrence will affect health, which may lead to damage to cell metabolism related to metabolic age. Therefore, anthropometric application by measuring neck circumference (NC) and body mass index (BMI) was performed. The aim of this study was to determine NC cut-off which can be used to identify the increase of metabolic age in an individual. This study is a diagnostic study using cross sectional design using subjects who met the criteria needed for this study (n = 82). BMI and NC anthropometric measurements were performed in this study. Metabolic age was measured using Bioelectrical Impedance Analyzer (BIA). Data were analyzed using 2 x 2 diagnostic table and Receiver Operating Characteristic (ROC) curve to obtain Area Under Curve (AUC). The results showed that the highest BMI was obese (65.8%) with the most common age of 30-57 years old. The result of ROC-AUC NC on metabolic age showed that AUC value of NC measurement was 0.77, cut-off ≥ 33 cm, sensitivity 71.2%, and specificity 69.6%. This study concludes that the cut-off value of NC in predicting the increase of metabolic age had good sensitivity and specificity.

Backgound: Measurement of body fat percentage as estimates of obesity, which can be done with the method of measuring the bioelectrical impedance analysis (BIA) and the meter inches inelastic. Both of these methods can be used as a simple, safe and non-nvasive. Objective: To analyze the comparative measurement of obesity with the BIA and the meter inches inelastic. Method: The study was observational analytic with cross sectional design. Sample were taken and selected through simple ramdomize sampling method. Data obtained directly by measuring samples that met the inclusion criteria. Obesity screening data obtained by measuring the percentage of body fat using BIA method and meter inches inelastic. Results: Based on the calculationn, as many as 65 samples taken by proportional random sampling in each specialization the student of the Faculty of Public Health 2014 Airlangga University. The percentage of female students with obesity using the BIA was 29,2% and inelastic inch meter is 21,5%. The statistical test showed t test was 0,897 ( sig>0,05). Conclusion: There are differences in the measurement result mean obesity BIA metered inches inelastic screening tools and have a good validity in measuring obesity. Suggestion : For further research it is recommended to be more accurate in measuring using an inelastic inch meter, while when using BIA  it  should use altimeter measurement because it is needed for data input.

BACKGROUND: Obesity is commonly associated with a systemic low grade inflammation and insulin resistance state. Although it is still being debated, increased lipolysis is known as one of the risk factors for inflammation and insulin resistance. Two factors already known to affect lipolysis are Angptl3, known as prolipolytic factor, and FGF21, known as antilipolytic factor. The aim of this study was to observe the role of Angptl3 and FGF21 to lipolysis, inflammation and insulin resistance in non diabetic obese male.METHODS: This was an observational study with cross sectional design. One hundred and thirty male subjects aged 30-60 years with non diabetic abdominal obesity characterized by waist circumference 97.32±5.63 cm and fasting blood glucose 90.19±8.78 mg/dL.RESULTS: The results of this study showed a correlation between Angptl3-FFA (r=0.203; p=0.021; R square=0.041; p=0.021), Angptl3-FABP4 (r=0.330; p=0.000; R square=0.109; p=0.000) and Angptl3-TNFα (r=0.288; p=0.001; R square=0.049; p=0.011). There was a correlation between FGF21-FABP4 (r=0.218, p=0.013; R square=0.047, p=0.013) and FGF21 HOMA-IR (r=0.308, p=0.000; R square=0.046, p=0.014).CONCLUSIONS: We conclude that Angptl3 may affect lipolysis and inflammation while FGF21 may affect lipolysis and insulin resistance. The increased FGF21 concentration might occur as a compensation (negative feedback mechanism) to reduce lipolysis and increase insulin sensitivity in non diabetic obese males. Further studies might be needed to observe Angptl3 and FGF21 profile in more severe obese population in Indonesia.KEYWORDS: obesity, lipolysis, inflammation, insulin resistance

Background : Osteoporosis is associated with decreased bone density. Osteoporosis needs serious handling because of the high prevalence and impact is quite severe. There are several factors that may affect bone density, there are body mass index and fat mass. Medical student are candidates for health professional who are required to have high criteria so that the health of medical students need to be considered. Objective : To determine the correlation between body mass index and fat mass with bone density in college student Medical Faculty of Jenderal Soedirman University. Methods : This was an analytic observational study with cross sectional approach. Total research subject were 36 college student. Body mass index data was obtained from rasio of weight in kg and quadrate from height in meter. Fat mass data was measured with Bioelectrical Impedance Analyzer (BIA). Bone density data was measured with densitometry. Bivariate analysis using pearson. Result : Value of body mass index in subject had a mean 24,91 ± 4,59. Value of fat mass in subject had a mean 21,95 ± 5,14%. Value of bone density in subject had a mean -0,28 ± 0,79. Pearson test’s result were p = 0,001 for body mass index (r=0,697) and p = 0,001 for fat mass (r=0,665), show there were statistically significant correlation (p<0,05) between body mass index and fat mass with bone density. Conclusion : There were significant correlation between body mass index and fat mass with bone density in college student Medical Faculty of Jenderal Soedirman University.   Keywords : body mass index, fat mass, bone density, college student

Prader–Willi syndrome (PWS) is the most common genetic inherited obesity syndrome. Obesity-related complications, mostly related to chronic low-grade systemic inflammation (LGI), are the commonest cause of mortality and morbidity in PWS adults. Phase angle (PhA) is an easy tool to screen a state of LGI in healthy subjects and in subjects with obesity and is obtained from bioelectrical impedance analysis (BIA). The aim of this study was to validate the PhA in PWS adults as a potential biomarker of LGI. In this single-center, cross-sectional study, fifteen PWS adults (six males, aged 19–41 years, and body mass index (BMI) 31.0–68.0 Kg/m2) and fifteen control subjects matched by gender, age, and BMI were evaluated. PhA values were significantly lower (p < 0.001), while high-sensitivity C-reactive protein (hs-CRP) levels were significantly higher (p < 0.001) in PWS adults compared with controls (p < 0.001), without a gender difference in the latter. After adjustment for gender, BMI, and waist circumference, significant correlation was found between PhA and hs-CRP levels (r = −0.69, p = 0.01). At the ROC analysis, the threshold value of PhA predicting the highest hs-CRP levels above the median value was found at PhA ≤ 4.8° (p = 0.01; AUC, 0.82; standard error, 0.12; 95% CI, 0.58 to 1.00). These results suggest that PWS adults had a significant higher degree of LGI compared with their counterparts. Moreover, our finding suggest that PhA is a valid biomarker of LGI also in PWS adults.

Daily consumption could aff ect nutritional status. Overconsumption lead to overweight, while less consumption lead to underweight, that could happens to college student who started early adult phase. Aim of this research was to investigate the diff erence of energy and macronutrients consumption among students of Faculty of Public Health Universitas Airlangga. This was an observational analytic research using cross sectional design. Sample was randomly chosen as much as 72 students. Data was collected using height and weight anthropometric measurement to determine nutritional status and 3x 24h food recall. Statistical test used was one way Anova for energy and carbohydrate consumption variables and Kruskall Wallis test for protein and fat consumption variables. The result indicated prevalence of underweight, normal, and overweight students were 16.7%, 45.8%, and 37.5% consecutively. Overweight students tend to have higher average of energy and carbohydrate consumption. However, most of students consumed enough protein and fat. There were diff erences of energy (p=0.008) and carbohydrate consumption (p=0.047) based on nutritional status among students. Overweight students need to reduce energy and macronutrient consumption as an eff ort to achieve normal nutritional status.

Latar Belakang: Kepadatan tulang rendah disebabkan oleh persen lemak tubuh tinggi, asupan kalsium rendah, asupan vitamin D rendah, asupan protein rendah, aktivitas fisik rendah, dan gaya hidup sedentari. Lingkar pinggang besar dapat dijadikan prediktor obesitas abdominal. Obesitas abdominal dapat menimbulkan berbagai penyakit degeneratif, seperti osteoporosis.Tujuan: Menganalisis perbedaan kepadatan tulang antara lingkar pinggang normal dan obesitas abdominal, serta mengetahui hubungan persen lemak tubuh, asupan kalsium, asupan vitamin D, asupan protein, asupan lemak, dan aktivitas fisik terhadap kepadatan tulang pada wanita.Metode: Penelitian observasional dengan desain cross-sectional yang dilaksanakan di Kelurahan Lamper Kidul Kecamatan Semarang Selatan. Subjek penelitian adalah wanita dewasa usia 30-55 tahun sebanyak 32 subjek yang terdiri dari 16 subjek dengan lingkar pinggang ≤80 cm dan 16 subjek dengan lingkar pinggang >80 cm. Data kepadatan tulang diukur menggunakan densitometer ultrasound, data lingkar pinggang menggunakan metline, data persen lemak tubuh menggunakan Bioelectrical Impedance Analyzer (BIA), data asupan gizi (kalsium, vitamin D, protein, lemak) menggunakan kuesioner semi quantitative food frequency, dan data aktivitas fisik menggunakan formulir IPAQ. Analisis bivariat menggunakan uji Chi-Square. Analisis multivariat menggunakan uji regresi logistik.Hasil: Pada kategori lingkar pinggang normal, subjek dengan kepadatan tulang osteopenia lebih banyak (75%) dibandingkan subjek dengan kepadatan tulang normal (25%). Sedangkan pada kategori lingkar pinggang obesitas abdominal, subjek dengan kepadatan tulang normal lebih banyak (56,3%) dibandingkan subjek dengan kepadatan tulang osteopenia (43,8%). Tidak terdapat perbedaan kepadatan tulang antara kategori lingkar pinggang normal dan obesitas abdominal pada wanita dewasa (p=0,072). Aktivitas fisik memiliki hubungan paling kuat dengan kepadatan tulang setelah disesuaikan dengan asupan lemak dan persen lemak (p=0,014).Kesimpulan: Tidak ada perbedaaan kepadatan tulang antara kategori lingkar pinggang normal dan obesitas abdominal pada wanita dewasa. Aktivitas fisik berhubungan dengan kepadatan tulang setelah disesuaikan dengan asupan lemak dan persen lemak.

Latar Belakang : Kesegaran jasmani pada wanita penting untuk mendukung aktivitas sehari-hari. Wanita  memiliki  tingkat  kesegaran  jasmani  lebih  rendah  daripada  pria,  hal  ini  terkait  dengan Indeks  Massa  Tubuh  (IMT),  persentase  lemak  tubuh,  dan  kadar  hemoglobin.  IMT  dan  persen lemak   tubuh   yang   rendah   meningkatkan   kesegaran   jasmani,   namun   keadaan   anemia   akan menurunkan tingkat kesegaran jasmani, sehingga hal ini menjadi kontroversi. Vegetarian diketahui memiliki IMT dan persen lemak tubuh lebih rendah daripada non vegetarian. Adanya pembatasan sumber  makanan  hewani  mengakibatkan  meningkatnya  risiko  anemia.  Belum  banyak  penelitian yang mengkaji tingkat kesegaran jasmani pada wanita vegetarian. Tujuan  : Mengetahui  tingkat  kesegaran  jasmani  pada  wanita  vegetarian  dan  faktor-faktor  yang mempengaruhinya Metode  : Penelitian  cross  sectional dengan  subjek  43  wanita  vegetarian  yang  diambil  secara consecutive sampling. Tingkat  kesegaran jasmani diukur dengan metode  Harvard step test, IMT dengan  pengukuran  antropometri,  presentase  lemak  tubuh  diukur  menggunakan  Bioelectrical Impedance Analyzer (BIA), kadar Hemoglobin diukur menggunakan metode cyanmethemoglobin, dan  tingkat   aktifitas   fisik   diukur   menggunakan   International   physical   activity   questionaire (IPAQ). Analisis data menggunakan korelasi Pearson Hasil : Sebagian  besar  subjek  memiliki tingkat  kesegaran  jasmani kategori sangat  rendah (69,8 %). Ada hubungan tingkat kesegaran jasmani dengan tingkat aktifitas fisik (r =  0,533 ; p = 0,001). Tidak ada hubungan yang bermakna antara IMT (r = -0,045 ; p = 0,777), persentase lemak tubuh (r = -0,243 ; p = 0,117), dan kadar Hb (r = 0,224 ; p = 0,149)   dengan tingkat  kesegaran jasmani. Simpulan  : Tingkat  kesegaran  jasmani wanita  vegetarian  sebagian  besar  dalam kategori sangat kurang  walaupun  sebagian  besar  wanita  vegetarian  tidak  anemia.  Faktor  yang  mempengaruhi tingkat kesegaran jasmani wanita vegetarian adalah tingkat aktivitas fisik.

Haul dumptruck is a heavy-duty vehicles which is used to haul the overburden from loading point to disposal area. Haul dumptruck is driven by operators who have a high enough workload risk, especially on mental activity. The purpose of this study was to learn the correlation between mental workload with fatigue complaints of PT. MKP haul dumptruck operators at PKP2B PT. Mandiri Intiperkasa Site Krassi, Tarakan, Kalimantan Utara.       This research was an analytic observational research with cross sectional design. The Sample of this research was 110 PT. MKP haul dumptruck operators at PKP2B PT. Mandiri Intiperkasa Site Krassi. The Variables of this research were individual factors (age, gender, and years of service), mental workload, and fatigue complaints. The data were analyzed by spearman correlation test to analyze the correlation between variables.       The results showed 50% of haul dumptruck operators were 35-44 years old, 100% male, and 32.7% had 7-10 years of service. Most of haul dumptruck operators (58.2%) had very high mental workload levels and 68.2% was having low-grade fatigue complaints. The significant ρ value of the spearman test between mental workload and fatigue complaints was 0,400, while the correlation coefficient value was -0,081.       The conclusion of this reasearch indicated that there was not a significant correlation between mental workload and fatigue complaints on haul dumptruck operators. Recommendation for the company are forming a labor unions, fixing cottage rest areas, giving co-worker when haul dumptruck operators complain of fatigue and mental workload on high level, and maintainin-developing a fatigue management as well as raising workers' awareness on its application.

LSIL is a low grade cervical cancer prelesion, which through prompt diagnosis and therapy, could reduce cervical cancer incidence to 90% and reducing mortality rate for 70-80%. Colposcopy will speed up diagnosis of cervical precancer lesions thus gaining prompt management, and beneficial for patients from afar. Combination of Pap’s smear, colposcopy and biopsy is a good diagnostic package to perform in medical practice. This study was conducted using statistics diagnostic test with cross-sectional design. This research was carried out among women diagnosed with LSIL (Pap’s smear) which then colposcopy was performed in Gynaecology Clinic in Dr.M.Djamil Hospital Padang, during July to December 2014. The study was performed to determine the definitive diagnosis of LSIL (Pap’s smear). Total number of women included in this study were 70, which were divided into 2 groups: 35 women in VIA positive group and 35 in VIA negative group and statistical anal- ysis was performed using unpaired t test and chi square in SPSS 18.0 for windows. From statistical analysis using chi-square test, obtained a statistical significance between VIA test and colposcopy, it can be seen from the p-value 0.002 (p <0.05). Latar belakang : Gangguan siklus menstruasi berkaitan dengan penurunan fertilitas dan berbagai gangguan kesehatan organ reproduksi. Obesitas dan stress merupakan faktor yang dapat menyebabkan terjadinya gangguan siklus menstruasi. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis hubungan obesitas dengan kejadian gangguan siklus menstruasi pada wanita dewasa muda setelah dikontrol dengan stress. Metode : Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian observasional analitik dengan pendekatan cross-sectional. Populasi penelitian adalah seluruh wanita muda di 10 desa di Kecamatan Tuntang Kabupaten Semarang. Cara pengambilan subjek sebanyak 60 (30 wanita yang mengalami obesitas dan 30 wanita dengan status gizi normal) menggunakan metode consecutive sampling. Data karakteristik subjek, gangguan siklus menstruasi, dan stress dikumpulkan melalui wawancara dengan menggunakan kuesioner. Persen lemak tubuh diukur dengan menggunakan Bioelectrical Impedance Analyzer (BIA). Data dianalisis dengan uji Chi Square dan Regresi Logistik Ganda. Hasil : Kejadian gangguan siklus mentruasi pada wanita yang mengalami obesitas 1,89 kali lebih besar dibandingkan dengan wanita dengan status gizi normal sedangkan subjek yang mengalami stress 2 kali lebih besar dibandingkan dengan subjek yang tidak mengalami stress. Oligomenore merupakan jenis gangguan siklus menstruasi yang paling tinggi terjadi pada kelompok subjek yang mengalami obesitas (30,8%) dan pada subjek yang mengalami stress adalah polimenore (23,1%). Obesitas dan stress merupakan faktor yang dapat menyebabkan terjadinya gangguan siklus menstruasi. Setelah dikontrol dengan stress, pengaruh obesitas dalam menyebabkan gangguan siklus menstruasi menjadi lebih kecil (OR=1; OR=2,8). Simpulan : Obesitas dan stress merupakan faktor yang dapat menyebabkan terjadinya gangguan siklus menstruasi. Setelah dikontrol dengan stress, pengaruh obesitas dalam menyebabkan gangguan siklus menstruasi menjadi lebih kecil.
