The purpose of the article is to highlight the place and role of the discipline "Preparation of a research project and presentation of research results" as part of the educational and scientific program of training doctors of philosophy in the graduate school of higher education (scientific institutions) and its importance in the acquisition of professional competencies, systems knowledge, and skills preparation of scientific research and presentation of its results. The methodology consists of the application of general scientific methods of analysis and synthesis, induction and deduction, generalization and abstraction, review-analytical, description, and comparison, which made it possible to identify the place and role of this discipline. The scientific novelty of the work lies in the generalization and systematization of knowledge about the discipline "Preparation of a research project and presentation of research results", in focusing on its features in terms of the present and prospects for its development. Conclusions. A feature of the discipline "Preparation of a research project and presentation of research results" is the consideration of all stages of preparation of graduate students: from admission to graduate school and choosing a dissertation research topic and to public defense of the dissertation and certification in the light of modern requirements. In the process of studying the course graduate students will be able to form a holistic view of science as a system of knowledge and tools of knowledge, to form views on the methodology of scientific knowledge, the essence of general and special methods and principles of research and presentation of their results.

AbstractDespite being responsible for a large percentage of undergraduate instruction, graduate students often receive little preparation for their first solo teaching assignments (J. D. Nyquist et al.,Change31 (3): 18, 1999). Furthermore, the existing literature on pedagogy fails to address the unique challenges faced by graduate students who are asked to serve as course instructors rather than teaching assistants. This article presents seven pieces of advice intended to better prepare the predoctoral graduate student to assume the role of the professor before assuming the title. By understanding the attitudes of undergraduate students toward graduate instructors, preparing in advance to handle the mistakes that novice teachers often make, and recognizing the correlation between outward confidence and student perceptions of instructor quality, graduate students can derive the most benefit from a stressful and time-consuming assignment. Most important, graduate instructors can learn to effectively manage the time spent on teaching duties to ensure that other responsibilities such as coursework, qualifying exams, and dissertation research do not suffer.

This article is devoted to selected aspects of scientific communication in Poland. Its aim is to draw attention to the role of scientific communication in public understanding of science and to indicate the most important determinants of the development of scientific communication in Poland. It is assumed in the article that scientific communication and the popularization of research results are activities undertaken by scientists, science units and entities acting for the benefit of science in specific systemic, financial, legal or political conditions. Therefore, in order to assess the determinants of the development of scientific communication in a given country it is necessary, first of all, to get know the conditions in which it takes place. An institutional-legal analysis was used to prove this thesis. In the first, descriptive part of the article the history of the development of public understanding of science and its relationship with the development of scientific communication are mentioned, the second, research part refers to the results of the analysis of basic legal acts and available data in the scope of: the place and role of scientific communication in Polish scientific policy, including the present state of the higher education system and the solutions proposed in the reform of higher education prepared by the Ministry of Science and Higher Education; the place and role of popularization of research results in the development strategy of a scientific unit on the example of the University of Gdańsk and university/researcher's obligations in the field of scientific communication towards research funding institutions.

Purpose. Analysis of training Doctors of Philosophy at the Institute of Feed Research and Agriculture of Podillya of NAAS from the standpoint of higher education reformation and on the basis of the analysis, search for ways of improving its quality. Methods are based on the general scientific principle of objectivity, which involves the analysis of events and phenomena on the basis of scientific and critical understanding and the use of general scientific methods (comparison, analysis and synthesis, logical). Results. The analysis of training Doctors of Philosophy at the Institute of Feed Research and Agriculture of Podillya of NAAS is conducted. The strengths and weaknesses of educational and scientific activities, aimed at training applicants for the degree of Doctor of Philosophy at the Institute are identified and ways for improving its quality are outlined. Conclusions. For the high-quality training of Doctors of Philosophy it is necessary: to establish reliable partnerships with regional and international scientific institutions, firms in the field of agriculture, to conclude international agreements on cooperation with the Institute in order to attract graduate students to participate in scientific projects and research; to improve the monitoring procedure and to study more precisely the needs of applicants and teachers in relation to the ESP; revision of the existing ESP, taking into account the comments, wishes and proposals of all stakeholders, in particular, employers and graduates; expanding the use of Internet resources and IT technologies in the educational process; advanced training through the programs and internship in national and foreign scientific institutions, participation in international conferences for teachers and graduate students; wider popularization of academic integrity among applicants for higher education, scientific and scientific- pedagogical workers of the Institute and creation of a commission for the observance of academic integrity; improving financial and logistical support of the educational process, scientific research.

The article reveals the experience of implementing the educational and scientific program “Professional Education” for applicants of the third (educational and scientific) level of higher education specialty 015 Professional Education (by specializations) at Alfred Nobel University. Features and purpose of the educational and scientific program “Professional Education”, as well as its structure (educational and scientific components) are described. The volume of the educational component of the educational and scientific program is given – 45 ECTS credits, of which the cycle of general (18 ECTS credits) and professional (27 ECTS credits) training, including the discipline of free choice of applicants (12.5 ECTS credits). Particular attention in the educational and scientific program is paid to the content of competencies sufficient to solve complex problems in the field of professional and / or research and innovation in the field of education. A brief description of the content of the scientific component of the program, which provides for the implementation of their own basic and / or applied research with the appropriate design of the obtained scientific results in the form of a dissertation, testing of research results. Methodological approaches (systemic, competence, activity, andragogic, student-centered, personality-oriented, participatory, environmental, integrative) and principles (systematization, scientificity, systematicity and consistency, clarity, integration of theory and practice, consciousness and activity) are substantiated and defined. Independence and activity of subjects in training, interdisciplinary connections, a positive emotional background of training, maintenance of unity of educational, developmental and educational functions are put into practice in the educational and scientific program. The main types of classes, methods and means of teaching future doctors of philosophy are identified. Emphasis is placed on the peculiarities of graduate research activities of graduate students. Ways of realization of individual educational trajectory for each postgraduate student are demonstrated (drawing up of the individual curriculum; a choice of the block of disciplines from a selective component at one’s own will, choosing the subjects of scientific and practical research works according to the interests of applicants of higher education; the organization of independent work of applicants by means of educational computer programs and electronic textbooks; certification courses for the formation of additional professional competencies; distance education; drawing up an individual schedule of graduate students; types of communication between research and teaching staff with applicants; participation in various extracurricular activities). Emphasis is placed on the scientific achievements of higher education seekers (publications in professional journals, collections of scientific papers, reporting the results at annual scientific and practical conferences, publication of research results in a foreign language in periodicals, participation in the research work of the Department of Innovation Technologies in Pedagogy, Psychology and Social Work, scientific and pedagogical internship, etc.).

AbstractUtilising Nakata’s (2007) description of the “cultural interface”, two Indigenous researchers and one non-Indigenous researcher examine their development of Indigenous research in and with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities conducted from within an institution of higher education. The authors reflect on their experiences in developing an Indigenous research project and use Indigenous standpoint theory as a device to explore these experiences. The framing of priorities and research questions, ethics processes, the treatment of project information or data, the managing of competing accountabilities, and the role of non-Indigenous researchers in Indigenous research are all explored in these reflections.

This chapter refers to an empirical research that aims to analyze how the knowledge and skills acquired during undergraduate studies have been perceived by the graduate students and also how the higher education contributes to the development of entrepreneurship in rural areas. The research method identified as being more appropriate was a quantitative research based on an online survey established in accordance with the objectives set up. The participants in the research were the graduate students of the Faculty of Agri-food and Environmental Economy within The Bucharest University of Economic Studies. The findings are based on participants' open statements that could be important arguments to be taken into consideration for improving the decision making in higher education which would lead to the professional development of the graduates.

Faculty and students recognize that to succeed in graduate school, the ability to read efficiently and with comprehension is crucial. Students must be able to process information newly presented to them, even when that information seems overwhelming. Comprehending, discussing, and utilizing relevant texts are central to the production of scholars. But what constitutes appropriate techniques of reading, when does one employ various strategies, and for what purposes? In a world in which more is assigned than can reasonably be processed, what constitutes a legitimate practice? In this conversation essay, we discuss the role of skimming, building upon an interview study of 36 social science graduate students in history, economics, and sociology. We ask what students believe about the necessity and appropriateness of skimming, how they honed their skills, and what constitutes normative standards. We treat skimming as a form of “legitimate deviance,” necessary for occupational survival but a strategy that is potentially a challenge to an academic self-image. Students learn techniques that allow them to read rapidly and recall information for later use, but the appropriate use of these techniques is rarely discussed openly in graduate training.

This cogenerative ethnography explored the lived experiences of two graduate students balancing Ph.D. studies and motherhood through McClusky’s (1963) Theory of Margi n. Specifically, we asked ourselves: What impact does pregnancy have on personal and academic selves and how are multiple roles and responsibilities managed? Through an analysis of dialogues, artifacts, conceptual maps, and narratives, examples of internal and external lo ad revealed the dynamic nature of the female experiences in graduate school. Excerpts from the data showed how roles, relationships, and experiences are characterized and how similar or different those example s were, given individual context. Implications of this research for students, faculty, and higher education policy are explored.

The development of noxological culture in students of pedagogical educational institutions is an urgent issue, as it is associated with the state of protection of the individual and society from internal and external threats in everyday life. The purpose of the study was to analyse the discipline “Occupational Safety and Health”, which plays an important role in understanding the potential hazards associated with human activities and forms risk-oriented thinking. The following methods were used in the research process to establish the relationship between noxological culture and the safety of future teachers: elementary-theoretical analysis and synthesis of factual material, axiomatic method, and generalisation. The concept of noxology and noxological culture of personality is considered. As a result of the study, it was determined that noxological culture constitutes an important structural component of life safety, and forms an integral part of the professional culture of every future specialist. The important role of the discipline “Occupational Safety and Health” in the development of noxological culture of students is determined. The components of noxological competence are considered. The important role of pedagogical higher education in the process of development of scientifically substantiated criteria of possible risk is identified. The study of the above discipline forms a system of knowledge regarding the nature of hazards, their features and ways to reduce risk and their occurrence

Introduction. In the conditions of knowledge economy development, continuous reforming of the system of higher education of Ukraine, its effective financial provision meets the most important needs of modernity and promotes formation of intellectual potential of the state, social and economic development of society and growth of national economy. The purpose of the article is to analyze the current state of higher education, its financial support and determine the prospects for the development of this priority sector of the economy. Methods. During the research the analysis and synthesis, comparison, generalization, forecasts, trends, modeling and other methods were used. Results. The current state of higher education of the state and its financing at the world and national levels is analyzed. Expenditures on higher education have been found to fluctuate constantly, due in particular to external political and economic factors. According to the results of the research, it is concluded that the role of the state in financing higher education is growing every year, but the involvement of alternative sources such as participation in educational, scientific, infrastructure projects, cooperation with business, industry, graduates, and providing paid services remains relevant.
