The NATO conference held in Garmisch in 1968 was on the future of the computer and software world, and it presented the process of realization of what has been talked about in those dates to the present day. This chapter also examines the development of software systems since 1968, depending on the technological developments. The contribution of mathematics and physics to the development of information systems was explained in chronological order by comparing the possibilities of yesterday and today. Complementary contributions of science and technology have been evaluated in the evolutionary and revolutionary developments ranging from the definition of information theory in 1948 to teleportation. It can clearly be seen that discrete mathematics directly affects the improvements in computer science. This review study clearly shows that it would not be possible to talk about digital transformation and quantum computation if the discoveries of Shannon, Turing and Neumann, and the studies of other scientists before them did not exist.

Advances in knowledge resulting from the sequencing of the human genome, coupled with technological developments and a deeper understanding of disease mechanisms of pathogenesis are paving the way for a growing role of precision medicine in the treatment of a number of human conditions. The goal of precision medicine is to identify and deliver effective therapeutic approaches based on patients’ genetic, environmental, and lifestyle factors. With the exception of cancer, neurological diseases provide the most promising opportunity to achieve treatment personalisation, mainly because of accelerated progress in gene discovery, deep clinical phenotyping, and biomarker availability. Developing reproducible, predictable and reliable disease models will be key to the rapid delivery of the anticipated benefits of precision medicine. Here we summarize the current state of the art of preclinical models for neuromuscular diseases, with particular focus on their use and limitations to predict safety and efficacy treatment outcomes in clinical trials.

The purpose of the article is to analyze the current state of the language of the Ukrainian media as an indicator of the linguistic culture of modern society. Research methodology. The interdisciplinary nature of the study led to the use of general scientific methods, in particular, unstructured systematic observation and descriptive technique. The scientific novelty lies in the generalization of linguistic trends in modern media, in explaining the reasons for linguistic shifts in recent decades. The article notes the dominant position in the stylistic system of our time of the language of the media, which has become the main factor in the productive functioning of the Ukrainian language, a factor that determines its cultural, historical, and historical and linguistic originality. In addition, the language of the media plays the role of a kind of model of the national language in the information society, largely shaping literary norms, language tastes, and preferences, influencing the perception of politics, art, literature, and the like. Hence the urgent need to comply with the language of the media literary norms. Conclusions. The conclusions note that one of the most important areas of studying the cultural aspect of the language of the media is to find out how the latter affects culture. The essence of this influence lies in the fact that the language of the media, which covers practically unlimited topics, significantly affects the literary language, and through it, the culture. The language of the media enriches the literary language, saturating it with evaluative turns, forming a refined language, developing techniques, and methods of discussion and polemics. Developing a literary language, the language of the media also contributes to the development of culture due to, for example, the qualities of speech such as flexibility, wealth, and a variety of functions. It is emphasized that the power and advantage of journalism plays an important role in the language of the media - in the direct impact on the addressee, the audience. Therefore, the mission of a journalist is to positively influence the mass audience, to correct its motivation, behavior, and worldview. It is concluded that the language of the media should be exemplary in terms of the competent use of linguistic ethics, correct word usage, the richness of vocabulary, expressive word-formation. Attention is drawn to the fact that the role of neological vocabulary in the media, which reflects the current processes in society, remains a problem in media speech. Further research is also required by the question of the characteristics of the media language and the prospects for its development.

The Internet, social networks and technological developments have caused a change in the news paradigm, affecting an ever-increasing proportion of the photojournalism process. The increase in the resolution of camera phone photographs has enabled an amateur to take publishable photos, then rapidly spread it among million of users through internet-based social networks. Many news agencies and media outlets now rely on these freely-available amateur photographs as a reliable source of up-to-the-minute photographic information. Also, some news companies have even dismissed their photographers entirely and replace them by smartphones. Despite this, some photographers and researchers are optimistic about the new tools and believe they may usher in a new golden age in photojournalism. In this article, we investigate the current state and future of photojournalism, and ponder if this marks the end or simply a reinvention of the role of press photographers. Palabras clave:fotoperiodistas; Instagram; fotografía; redes sociales; smartphonesKeywords:Photojournalist; Instagram; Photography; Social Networks; Smartphones

Our understanding of the climate system has been revolutionized recently, by the development of sophisticated computer models. The predictions of such models are used to formulate international protocols, intended to mitigate the severity of global warming and its impacts. Yet, these models are not perfect representations of reality, because they remove from explicit consideration many physical processes which are known to be key aspects of the climate system, but which are too small or fast to be modelled. The purpose of this paper is to give a personal perspective of the current state of knowledge regarding the problem of unresolved scales in climate models. A recent novel solution to the problem is discussed, in which it is proposed, somewhat counter-intuitively, that the performance of models may be improved by adding random noise to represent the unresolved processes.
