The article is devoted to the history of the development of female education in the Dagestan region in the second half of the 19th – early 20th centuries. It examines the system of women’s education, features of its development, formation, support and organization of the educational process, its impact on the education system of Dagestan as a whole. The chronological framework of the study covers the second half of the 19th – early 20th centuries. During this period, religious schools functioned in parallel with Russian educational institutions, which emerged in the places of deployment of military units and settlements with a Russian-speaking population. An important issue, reflected in the study, is the disclosure of the peculiarities of homeschooling, the content of which depended on the preferences of parents. An analysis of the diverse historical literature made it possible to conclude that women’s educational institutions in pre-revolutionary Dagestan, regardless of their form and content of education, raised the educational and cultural level of girls, introduced them to the achievements of world culture, and prepared them for family life. The teaching process in religious and Russian schools varied greatly. Thus, for example, Muslim traditional education was divided into two stages. Dagestan people received their primary education in maktabs (mosque schools), the main goal of which was to teach reading and writing in Arabic and reading the Koran, to introduce students to the scientific achievements of the Muslim Orient. After that, those wishing to gain in-depth knowledge of classical Muslim sciences continued their studies in numerous madrasahs, the level of which varied depending on the established traditions and teaching staff. In Russian schools, the educational process was regulated by the curriculum and curricula in general subjects, theology and home economics. The task of Russian schools was to help students integrate into the all-Russian cultural field, to introduce them to the achievements of Russian and European cultures.

Aim. Based on the results of multi-year research into the flax gene pool, to form a flax training collection to provide breeding scientific organizations and educational institutions with collection samples as well as with information about the bast crop gene pool. Results and Discussion. The studies were conducted in the crop rotation fields for breeding and seed production of the Institute of Bast Crops of the NAAS (Hlukhiv, Sumska Oblast) in 1992-2018. The field measurements and laboratory analyses were carried out in accordance with conventional methods of field and laboratory studies of collection flax samples. The article presents the results on the formation of a training collection of flax at the Institute of Bast Crops of the NAAS, which has 117 accessions (11 botanical species and three varieties) from 22 countries. In addition to species diversity, the collection includes accessions with different levels of expression of valuable economic and biological characteristics. It also includes accessions selected by phenotypic variability of individual characters or their combinations. The multi-year research into the flax collection accessions resulted in identification of sources of highly-expressed valuable economic traits, which are of interest for the plant breeding course. The history of flax breeding in Ukraine is shown, where breeding varieties that are most widespread or were significant breeding achievements in solving certain problems, are presented. The collection can be used as a visual aid for the plant breeding course in educational programs; in addition, it can provide starting material for scientific and educational institutions. The collection is registered with the National Center for Plant Genetic Resources of Ukraine (certificate No. 00273 dated 04/11/2019). Conclusions. The studies of accessions from the national flax collection allowed us to build up a training collection and register it with the NCPGRU. The collection represents a wide range of biological and economic features of the gene pool of this crop. The collection can be used in the educational process of educational agricultural and biological institutions. The multi-year research into the national flax collection resulted in identification of sources of highly-expressed valuable economic traits, which are of interest to the plant breeding course. The history of flax breeding in Ukraine got covered, and breeding varieties that are most widespread or were significant breeding achievements in solving certain problems are presented.

The article is devoted to the formation of historical education at Kharkiv Сlassic University especially such academic discipline as «Archeology». The author aims to discover the terminology of educational courses and the development of its concept for tracing the process of beginning teaching the elements of archeology and its formation as a separate discipline in the educational courses of the University. It is mentioned that from the first half of the ХІХ century the term «Archeology» was only appeared in scientific turnover and rarely appeared in the names of an educational courses. The term «antiquity» was used for the academic disciplines which were connected with the distant past. In this period the courses with the similar names had literary-philological and historical character and nearly connected with the archeology in its modern meaning. From the second half of the ХІХ century the situation changed. The question about the development of archeology was sharply rose in the Russian Empire, Archeological Congresses were conducted. Systematic archaeological excavations began, so qualified specialists were needed. But there were not such separate academic discipline as «Archeology» because of the lack of the specialists and teaching staff. The basis for archeology knowledge was the teaching of the disciplines of philological profile. Particular attention to the ancient languages oriented students to the acquisition of ancient social and cultural values. In the second half of the ХІХ century, there were qualitative changes in the archeological science itself. The first generalizations appear, but teaching has fallen short of scientific achievements. The author points that professor M. Aristov (1834–1882) was the first who taught the courses which had archeological specialization, but there were no term «archeology» in its name.

The theses of the report are devoted to the problem of functioning of private universities in society, deter-mining their place in the educational process. A parallel is drawn with the work of private educational institutions in the United States, which have a glorious history of development dating back to the XVII century. The author of the theses relies on the analysis of special literature on this issue, formulates the success factors of American universities and the «failure factors» of Yakut private universities, and also refers to a large-scale sociological study of graduates of the Yakut Institute of Economics conducted under her leadership (Yakutsk, 469 respondents, 2016, 2017, 2018). The Author of the theses of the report con-cludes that in Russia the history of private universities began in the 90s of the twentieth century, it is quite dramatic. Branches of the capital's private universities operating in the province are at the greatest disad-vantage today. At the same time, sociologists should work on mistakes, study in detail the pros and cons of non-state universities and suggest ways to correct the situation.

This article is devoted to the history of the higher primary school of Saints Sahak and Mesrop and its role in raising the intellectual level of the Nakhichevan population. The Crimean Armenian immigrants resettled on the Don land from the very beginning showed concern for the education of the younger generation. Since that time, the first educational institutions of the city-parochial schools have ceased to meet the educational needs of the urban population, as a result of which some parochial schools have evolved to a higher primary school, which can be clearly seen on the example of the School named after Saint Sahak and Mesrop. The article traces the difficulties and problems that the school's management had to face in the process of its development. The author examines the educational programs, as well as the teaching staff of the school. The successful functioning of the school was due to the invaluable assistance from both the entire Nakhichevan society and individual patrons in the education of the local Armenian population.
