This research analyzes the multiple intelligences in English Foreign Language (EFL), especially in 8A grade students. It identifies the multiple intelligences profile based on the frequency of multiple intelligence (MI) types, students’ high scores, and low scores. This research uses descriptive qualitative design. The subject of this research was 8A grade students in SMP Muhammadiyah 15 Surabaya. The instruments of the research were Multiple Intelligences Questionnaires, IQ results, and documentation of English mid-test scores in the second semester. From analysis and discussion, it was found that this class’s IQ score average is 86, and the most dominant intelligence type is musical. For the five highest score students’ there were four types of intelligence that they had. They were interpersonal, naturalist, logical-mathematical, and musical. Meanwhile, five low English achievers had four types of multiple intelligence namely were musical, interpersonal, naturalist, and visual-spatial. In conclusion, the class has diversity in multiple intelligence.   Multiple Intelligence types cannot refer to a certain group, in this case, groups based on their English score, because some MI types can be found in the high and low English achiever groups.

The aim of this paper is to report the observation findings of foreign language beliefs and behaviors among three communities of English speaking communities’ specific of their cultural identity. The study used descriptive qualitative design since the author wants to describe the phenomenon happened in this study. Three English speaking communities were taken as the data; first, Krismit whatsApp group conversation; second, a private whatsApp conversation between two non-native speakers; third, a classroom talk. Those data were taken from the author’s cellphone, then the chats were exported, transcribed and analyzed well through their beliefs and behaviors specific of their cultural identity. The findings of the present study indicate that the awareness of using English pattern in two communities needs to be more highlighted, while the other community revealed the cultural matter in the form of expressions. Therefore, teachers’ and educators’ big effort in decreasing this issue is crucially needed.

In this study I investigated the relationships among Sternberg's Triarchic Abilities (STA), Gardner's multiple intelligences, and the academic achievement of children attending primary schools in Istanbul, Turkey. Participants were 172 children (93 boys and 81 girls) aged between 11 and 12 years. STA Test (STAT) total scores were significantly and positively related to linguistic, logical-mathematical, and intrapersonal test scores. Analytical ability scores were significantly positively related to only logical-mathematical test scores, practical ability scores were only related to intrapersonal test scores, and the STAT subsections were significantly related to each other. After removing the effect of multiple intelligences, the partial correlations between mathematics, social science, and foreign language course grades and creative, practical, analytical, and total STAT scores, were found to be significant for creative scores and total STAT scores, but nonsignificant for practical scores and analytical STAT scores.

This article discusses on the urgence of multiple intelligences-based education.  In education, the multiple intelligences approach is very relevant to the spirit of education as a process of humanizing human being. Everyone should be served individually because he/she has different potential. Therefore, indicator of achievement is depended on the individual uniqueness. There is no single indicator on achievement. The multiple intelligences highlightes there are nine kinds of intelligence, namely linguistic intelligence, logical-mathematical intelligence, rythmic-musical intelligence, visual-spatial intelligence, bodily-kinesthetic intelligence, intrapersonal intelligence, interpersonal intelligence, natural intelligence, and existential intelligence. Through this approach, the educational process should be able to produce many champions suitable of each potential

This study aimed at implementing self-reflection cards (SRCs) in learning English tenses and also explaining students’ perceptions of the use of SRCs in understanding English tenses. A qualitative design was carried out to conduct the study. It focused on interpreting and understanding students’ perception on learning English tenses. The context of study was two classes who were taking English grammar and structure, in particular for the subject matter of English tenses. English tenses were explained orally in the class before students used SRCs to improve their understanding of using English tenses. Data were collected by distributing the questionnaire to the students who participated in two classes with total number of 57 students.The data were classified based on the repetitive and common forms found to assign criteria to the most important aspects related to the objectives of the study. Results indicated that the majority of students participating in the SRCs gamesagreed to all statements in the distributed questionnaire. However, only small number of students responded to their disagreement or neutrality. The majority of positive responses from students are considered as the indicator that the use of SRCs in learning English tenses was successfully implemented in class.

The purpose of this study is to describe the preparation, implementation and assessment related to the implementation of the Batak Angkola culture-based Multiple Intelligences approach in the thematic learning of grade IV SD 100620 Pargarutan Julu, South Tapanuli District. This research uses a qualitative research approach with descriptive research type. The subjects of this study were grade IV teachers and grade IV students. Data collection techniques used were observation, interviews, and documentation. Data analysis techniques consist of data reduction, data display and conclusion drawing. The results showed that the implementation of the Multiple Intelligences approach in thematic learning in grade IV SD 100620 Pargarutan Julu, South Tapanuli Districttook place well. The teacher has used varied learning methods and strategies for the Batak Angkola culture, including using lecture and story methods for students who are superior in verbal-linguistic intelligence, demonstrations in ritual ablution for students who are superior in physical-kinesthetic intelligence. For students who excel in multiple intelligence, the teacher teaches with presentations that combine creative linguistic, mathematical and kinesthetic methods with creativity. The learning assessment is reviewed from 3 aspects namely; 1) cognitive by oral, written and assignment tests, 2) affective by observation and self-assessment, and 3) psychomotor with project and practice assignments. It can be concluded that the teacher has carried out activities to provide apperception and motivation and to carry out multiple intelligence-based activities to develop the nine types of intelligence, including: linguistic-verbal, mathematical-logical, visual spatial, kinesthetic, musical, interpersonal, intrapersonal, naturalist and existentialist. So with the implementation of the Multiple Intelligences approach, thematic learning is more fun and meaningful.

This study employed descriptive qualitative design to obtain the data since this method focused on the result, not by the number of the subject. It was just by the real condition when the researcher conducted the research. This thesis identified, classified, and described the differences between Probolinggonese and Madurese dialect. In collecting the data, the researcher used some techniques, those were observation and interview. The result of research showed that there were differences in pronunciation, lexically, and syntactical between Probolinggonese and Madurese dialect. The differences of phonological was proved in pronunciation vowels a,i,u,e,o and some consonant differences. In the lexical point of view, it was proved based on pronoun, adjective, verb, adverb, noun, and conjunction. From syntactical point of view, Probolinggonese and Madurese dialects had adding suffix, affix, and intrusive sound.

This is a qualitative-descriptive analytic research aims to explore cues in the Qur'an that describe the concept of multiple intelligences. In Islam, the Qur’an is a complete guide for life. Indeed, many books that talk about multiple intelligences. However, there hasn’t been a book that specifically explain multiple intelligences according to the perspective of the Qur’an. This qualitative research used a literature review (research library)—data obtained through a literary approach in library data collection. The data were then analyzed using a thematic interpretation approach (maudhu'i). This study investigates how conjunctions are used for organizing ideas in abstracts of linguistics and literature theses written by undergraduate students of English Department in an Indonesian university. It also reveals the similarities in the ways conjunctions being used in the abstracts. It employs descriptive qualitative design to examine 82 abstracts which have been collected from 41 linguistics and 41 literature theses. The abstracts are analyzed by classifying and calculating the use of conjunctions using conjunctions taxonomy proposed by Halliday and Matthiessen (2014). The study finds that six abstracts do not apply conjunctions. While the rest use the three types of conjunctions: elaboration, extension, and enhancement. Elaborating conjunctions are used appropriately, whereas extending and enhancing conjunctions are partly inappropriately. Two kinds of inappropriate uses of conjunctions are misuse and overuse. The use of conjunctions in abstracts of linguistics and literature theses is quite similar in the ways they are used and total number of their uses. Certain conjunctions are present in the abstracts, while the others are inexistent. Both kinds of abstracts mostly use extending conjunctions, more especially positive additives. It can be concluded that the use of conjunctions varies in terms of their appropriateness. Inappropriate uses of conjunctions evince that EFL (English as a foreign language) learners had difficulty in using conjunctions in their writing. The students whose abstracts do not apply conjunctions connected the ideas in their abstracts using words and/or phrases which are excluded in the theoretical framework of this study. More similarities than differences in the ways conjunctions being used in the two kinds of abstracts prove that students from the same department of study had the same discourses.

The number of national examination become decrease, one of the subjects is mathematic. Thus, it needs to apply a learning based on student intelligences. It can be applied in mathematic base on student personal intelligence. The research used learning with multiple intelligences in mathematic subject. It was applied at Statistic lesson to eleventh grade students of SMAN 02 BATU. The aim of the research is to find out how were the activities and the result of study. The research design used in this study was a descriptive qualitative research. The subject of research was the students of XI IPS class on SMAN 02 BATU. The variable of this research were student�s activities and students score. The instruments used of this study were questionnaire and students score. Data analysis used of this study was percentage analyzing to measure the activities and students score. The result of the research showed that the number of students activities was quite enough with 68, 63%. The result of completeness analyzing student learning after using multiple intelligence with 28 students was complete and one of them was failed. The completeness of personal classical study with SKBM was 96, 55%.

This research is aimed to find out the solution of the anxiousness phenomenon that always attacks the EFL Learners particularly in Indonesia. In the future, this research is expected as main information for all students and lecturer or teachers of English to decrease the students’ anxiety in performing speaking. In long time ago until now, it becomes a big problem for all beginner students of English. The implementation of this research starting by doing observation to all class in the sixth semester students to find out some good EFL Learners. Researchers then consulting with the lecturer in determining the students to be the subject of this research. After finding the subject, interview session will be conducted to find out several information about their anxiousness. The data will be collected until limit of saturation. The last step of this research is doing analysis of the data were taken from observation and interview. The researchers will apply data reduction for the first step, the second is data display and the last will be drawing conclusion and verification of the data. The conclusion that being made will be verify by triangulation to get the validity of the result of this research.
