The existence of Salaf Islamic boarding schools must follow developments and modernization in every aspect of its development. Salaf Islamic boarding schools must open themselves from the rapid progress and development of the outside world and must be able to understand their needs and demands. The existence of the Salaf Islamic boarding school Nurul Muhibbin in Kemuja Village certainly must be able to color the stage of modernity to face the global challenges of the outside world, must be able to adapt and interact by not leaving and eliminating the values of salafiyah purity in accepting the development activities of the times. Of course, too, modernity has many advantages, but besides that there are also many possibilities that must be avoided. Progress in the field of technology must be watched out by Islamic boarding schools in general, the rapid development of technology should not then make the collapse of the pure values of Islamic teachings in salaf boarding schools just the opposite how Salaf Islamic boarding schools can use this information technology as a means to develop and promote education and teaching in Islamic boarding schools.

This paper discusses the role of the kiai's leadership in pesantren education in an effort to strengthen the Industrial Revolution 4.0 industry. Pesantren is an ideal education system that attempts to provide education to the community to develop the existing potential, because pesantren santri in pesantren are not only given religious knowledge, santri are also taught to live independently, have character and innovate through pesantren activities. The pesantren is one of the institutions of Islamic education that will produce a generation of Indonesians into 'ulama', Muslim scholars and generations who have national character and morality. In the current era of information technology development, learning approaches have experienced rapid development that can change people's mindsets. The availability of information technology that is connected to the internet makes it easy for everyone to access science. So that pesantren must also be able to actualize these developments by developing pesantren curricula that are in accordance with the needs of the times. Then what is the role of pesantren in facing the development of globalization, what strategies are suitable in dealing with generations of the millennial era.

On the one hand, in the environment of the Pesantren salaf community, a kind of environment and tradition is formed which shows its unique, even unique characteristics, which are only understood by the community. Gus Dur, in this case, stated that the Pesantren salaf community is a community that has its own subcultural in the middle of society with the complexity of the problems in it. But on the other hand, there is a very rapid development of science and technology, so it demands pesantren salaf to make changes to adjust to the times, both in terms of the education system, the boarding school environment, institutions, leadership patterns, and others. Therefore, the study contained in the title "Pesantren Salaf: Social Change and Sublimation of Identity (Pesantren Model in West Java)", is very important to be carried out.The purpose of this study is none other than to find the concept of changes that occur in Pesantren salaf in West Java. For more details, they are: 1) uncovering the factors that drive changes in pesantren in West Java; 2) reveal pesantren's efforts in facing the challenges of the times, and 3) find forms of changes that occur in the Pesantren salaf in West Java.This research departs from a thought that social change will occur due to four things. First, Evolution. This theory states that humans as part of a cultured society will naturally develop gradually from simple forms to complex and perfect stages. Second, Conflict. This theory strongly believes that change will only occur if there is conflict. Third. Functional Theory. Social change occurs because of the disharmony between cultural elements. Fourth, Cycle Theory. Social change by itself will occur and cannot be controlled.The method used in this research is descriptive. In the process, the data is collected and compiled. After the data is collected and arranged in such a way, the authors analyze it and provide interpretation, with a qualitative approach. So that it is expected to be able to uncover the realities of the Pesantren salaf which are changing in the community.The results of the study stated that the Pesantren salaf can adapt well to social change by bringing up certain identities. This shift in identity needs to be examined and studied through the theory of action put forward by Max Weber. First, zweckrational. This theory is known as rational-purpose. In doing something always with a good and accurate calculation. Second, wertrational or rational-values. The involvement of the subject is directly involved in matters of absolute importance. The four traditionalists. This theory of action rests on established and established customs or traditions. Traditionalist theories respect existing authority.

The development plan of the Islamic Boarding School in the middle of the times it is not impossible to do. As the oldest educational institutions in Indonesia, Islamic Boarding School is an educational institution that is civilized. The development of Islamic boarding school can be done through two aspects; boarding school as an educational unit and boarding school as a place of education units. Islamic Boarding School as an educational unit in the form of Muaddalah Islamic Boarding School while boarding school as a place of education unit is a main unit of doing other educational institutions. Development of the Islamic Boarding School can also be developed through the role of Islamic Boarding Schools that do not merely act as an educational institution, but also serves as a social institutions and economic institutions of society.

Abstract: Islamic boarding school is one of the dominant Islamic education institutions and emphasizes religious studies that influence and impact the culture, tradition and preservation of Islamic teachings. Islamic boarding schools also play a role in the formatio n of a nation's civilization. Pesantren at this time must be prepared to face the challenges of globalization and produce graduates who can compete and fill the global era. For this reason, pesantren must be able to become institutions that are global in m ind and have capable resources, especially in Islamic education. Today's globalization has enabled humans to communicate in forms we never imagined before. Changes that help humans to convey and disseminate information over time. Advances in information technology is evolving following the progress of the times. For example, in ancient times people use bedug as a communication tool for time reminder. However, as the era of society began to create sophisticated electronic devices such as telephones as a means of communication at close range and distance. Simultaneously with a variety of technologies found to support information leading to the development of information technology so rapidly, where any information that exist in this part of the world we can get with a relatively short time. Due to the increased capability in the field of technology and because the equipment becomes cheaper and more powerful and easy to carry along with the development of computer applications that cause the rapid development of information. Globalisasi dewasa ini telah memungkinkan manusia berkomunikasi dalam bentuk-bentuk yang tidak pernah kita bayangkan sebelumnya. Perubahan yang membantu manusia dalam menyampaikan dan menyebarluaskan informasi dari waktu ke waktu. Kemajuan teknologi informasi ini berkembang mengikuti kemajuan zaman. Misalnya saja pada zaman dahulu masyarakat menggunakan bedug sebagai alat komunikasi untuk pengingat waktu. Namun seiring berkembangnya zaman masyarakat mulai menciptakan alat-alat elektronik canggih seperti telepon sebagai alat komunikasi jarak dekat maupun jarak jauh. Sekaligus dengan ditemukan berbagai macam teknologi yang tentu mendukung informasi menyebabkan perkembangan teknologi informasi yang demikian pesat, dimana setiap informasi yang ada di belahan dunia ini dapat kita dapatkan dengan waktu yang relatif singkat. Karena dengan kemampuan yang meningkat dalam bidang teknologi dan karena peralatan menjadi lebih murah dan lebih kuat serta mudah dibawa dengan disertai perkembangan aplikasi komputer yang menyebabkan perkembangan informasi semakin cepat.

Abstract   Discussing about the role of Islamic boarding schools in the formation and development of education, especially Islamic education, in Indonesia is hardly debated and doubtful. Long before Indonesia's independence, this institution which was in charge of ulama (kyai) was present in the archipelago. The history that goes through shows that the pesantren is not only able to maintain the survival of the times, but also can take care of its development which continues to increase from time to time. According to available data, this institution was first established, especially in Java, in the 15th century by Maulana Malik Ibrahim (one of the oldest walisongo) and later developed by other walisongo. By the end of the 19th century, the number of Islamic boarding schools in Java had grown to 300, and based on the records of the Indonesian Ministry of Religion Islamic Boarding School Database, the number of Islamic Boarding Schools in 2018 was around 21,321. The survival and continuous development of the boarding school certainly cannot be separated from the scientific tradition developed which has a strong enough distinction. One of them is the transformative education pattern. This makes the pesantren not just a religious institution that is merely active in the world of religious education for the santri, but at the same time has a concern and active role together with the community in empowering themselves. These values ​​also did not escape the Al-Istiqomah Islamic Boarding School in Kebumen. This pesantren which is famous for its 'Arab Village' has more value which requires the Al-Istiqomah Islamic boarding school to be developed into an international standard education. This internationalization is important to be put forward, in addition to developing and strengthening the quality of Islamic boarding schools in Indonesia and in Kebumen in particular, Internationalization will also be the biggest contribution to the development and strengthening of its own academic community. These values also did not escape from Al-Falah boarding school Somolangu, Kebumen. It will also makeboarding school can be instrumental in giving a concretecontribution for global life.

Pondok pesantren ni’amul ulum tegalsari Yogyakarta is one of the Islamic education institutions that focuses on learning the yellow book by using the sorogan and bandungan method in teaching the yellow book in order to improve the skills of reciting the yellow book. The purpose of this research is to find out why the sorogan and bandungan method is still used, is it still effective, and how is an effective implementation strategy in learning the study of the study of the mahasantri yellow book in the learning system in Islamic boarding schools in the current era by looking at the progress of the times that are increasingly developing. What are the supporting causes and obstacles in the application ofe the sorogan and bandungan method strategies in learning the yellow book. The method used in this research is in the form of qualitative research methods and uses descriptive research. Sources of data in this study through informans, namely Putri Kiyai, Ustad, along with students, both old and new students, at pondok pesantren ni’amul ulum tegalsari Yogyakarta. Data collection techniques in this research are through observation, interviews and data from supporting Islamic boarding schools. From the results found in this study, namely; First, the yellow book learning system with the sorogan and bandungan metthods at the Ni’amul Ulum Tegalsari Islamic Boarding School in Yogyakarta is not much different from the sorogan and bandungan methods as in general, where the students face to face with the Kiyai/Teacher in the aspect of reading books yellow. Second, the supporting factor is the presence of a figure of Kiyai whose ability to read the yellow book has mastered and has been validated. Third, the problem that hinders and hinders learning in using the sorogan and bandungan methods is the lack of a teacher’s talent in the aspect of reading the yellow book and the lack of teaching staff. (Pondok Pesantren Ni’amul Ulum Tegalsari Yogyakarta ialah salah satu lembaga pendidikan Islam yang menfokuskan pembelajaran kitab kuning dengan memakai metode sorogan beserta bandungan didalam pengajaran kitab kuning guna untuk meningkatkan keahlian mengaji kitab kuning. Tujuan penilitian ini untuk mengetahuinya mengapa metode sorogan beserta bandungan tetap di gunakan, apakah tetap berjalan efektif, dan bagaimana strategi pelaksanaan yang efektif didalam pembelajaran keahlian mengaji kitab kuning mahasantri dalam sistem pembelajaran di pesantren pada zaman era saat ini dengan memandang kemajuan zaman yang semakin pesat perkembangannya. Apa penyebab pendukung beserta penghambat dalam penerapan strategi metode sorogan dan bandungan didalam pembelajaran kitab kuning. Metode yang dipakai dalam peneletian ini yaitu berupa metode penelitian kualitatif dan menggunakan penelitian deskriptif. Sumber data dalam penelitian ini melalui infoman yaitu putri Kiyai, Ustad, beserta santri baik santri lama maupun yang santri baru di Pondok Pesantren Ni’amul Ulum Tegalsari Yogyakarta. Teknik pengumpulan data didalam penelitain ini ialah melalui observasi, interview serta data-data dari pesantren yang mendukung. Dari hasil yang di temukan dalam penelitian ini yaitu; Pertama, Sistem pembelajaran kitab kuning dengan metode sorogan dan bandungan di Pondok Pesantren Ni’amul Ulum Tegalsari Yogyakarta sedikit tidak jauh berbeda sama metode sorogan dan bandungan seperti pada umumnya yang mana para santri berhadap-hadapan secara berlangsung sama Kiyai/Guru di dalam aspek membaca kitab kuning. Kedua, Faktor yang mendukung adalah adanya sosok figur seorang Kiyai yang kemampuan baca kitab kuningnya telah menguasai dan telah tervalidasi. Ketiga, Persoalan yang menjadikan penghalang dan penghambatnya pembelajaran dalam memakai metode sorogan dan bandungan adalah minimnya bakat seorang guru dalam aspek kemampuan baca kitab kuning serta kurangnya tenaga pengajar.)

This Study at Al Baqiyatus Shalihat Islamic Boarding School in West Tanjung Jabung Regency, Karya Pembangunan Al-Hidayah Islamic Boarding School in Jambi City and Al-Munawaroh Boarding School in Merangin Regency Jambi Province. Life Skills Program are a group of skills program that include social skill, personal skill, academic skill and vocational skill. These skills are taught at Islamic boarding schools to equip students to live independently and have Islamic entrepreneurial behavior in the face of the development and progress of the times. The purpose of this study was to determine the management life skills program to improve the behavior of students in entrepreneurship, the excellence of managing life skills program that have been implemented by Islamic Boarding Schools and determined the behavior of students in entrepreneurship. The research approach is used to descriptive qualitative approach. Data collection techniques using observation, interview and documentation. Data analysis using Miles and Huberman models and data validity techniques using data triangulation.

Many consider that Islamic boarding schools are lagging behind the times and are unable to meet the needs of the community. In contrast, Islamic boarding schools are considered as social education institutions, where Kiai plays a central role in uniting boarding school and community. Therefore the purpose of this study is to explore how the part of Kiai in the community. This study uses qualitative approaches and descriptive methods. The data in this study obtained through participant observation, interviews with Kiai, administrators, principals, surrounding communities, and documentation. The results of this study indicate that Kiai can establish strong relationships without stopping with people who are far from religious understanding. Kiai is an influential figure who can integrate all existing social institutions with the institutional boarding school he leads. Further, Kiai is used as a primary role model in thinking, acting, and behave. So that the community recognizes the existence of the Kiai, Kiai can answer every problem that the society faces and accommodate every aspiration of the community.
