Translator training is an area that has received much interest among the research community of Translation Studies’ scholars. This is driven by the need for highly qualified and skilled professional translators around the world. This need has motivated research into the skills and competences professional translators need to perform their tasks effectively. This review addresses translator training and translation competence, underscoring the need for further research in this area in the Saudi context. It also presents some translation competence models that have been proposed. The review indicated that translation competence is an under-researched area in the Saudi context. Further research is needed in this area to contribute to improving the quality of translator training, which will enhance the quality of translation services by improving the outcomes of these programs.

The article is devoted to the analysis tools for assessing human capital based on world rankings in the context of sustainable development. The most famous world rankings of human capital, studied by such international organizations as the World Bank, the United Nations, the World Economic Forum, the University of Groningen in collaboration with the University of California at Davis and others, are considered. Quantifying human capital as the economic and social value of a skill set is measured through an index. Each organization makes measurements according to its own method. The application of different criteria and indicators for assessing human capital at the macroeconomic level is analyzed. The considered assessment methodologies are overwhelmingly based on statistical approaches. Analyzed the position of Ukraine in the world rankings in recent years in dynamics. It has been confirmed that these international ratings can be considered as a reflection of the state of human capital in Ukraine. Revealed quite high rating positions of Ukraine in comparison with other countries. The results allow us to conclude that there is insufficient government funding for the development of human capital. It is concluded that Ukraine needs to improve the quality of human capital as a leading factor in increasing the efficiency of the country's economy in the context of sustainable development. The study showed that the use of high-quality, highly qualified human capital leads to an improvement in the country's position in the world rankings.

Abstract The article is an attempt to enter into the area of metacognitive translation studies – or metacognitive translator studies – that has so far received scant coverage, and devote closer attention to the translator’s self-regulatory activity. Self-regulation seems crucial in the development of translation expertise, “especially outside of optimally structured work environments, training academies, and other places with defined translation workflows and opportunities for feedback” (Shreve 2006: 32). The article focuses on the role and nature of self-regulation in translator training. Having identified the issues that emerge from educational theories for translator training, the author analyses the approaches to metacognition in the area of translation education. In an attempt to contribute to the discussion of the multifaceted nature of translator competence, the author investigates the correlation between translation trainees’ self-regulatory activity and the quality of their translation as reflected in their translation grades.

This chapter examines the right to an interpreter. The frequent movement of people around the world and the multicultural make-up of many countries mean that interpretation and translation services are required and used to a great extent in certain jurisdictions. The right to an interpreter does not mean that defendants are entitled to an interpreter simply because their native language is different from the language used in court, as long as they sufficiently understand and speak that language. Similarly, when interpretation is required, this does not per se have to be provided in the native language of the defendant. And if defendants feel there are any issues with the quality of the interpretation provided to them, and this is not apparent to the court, they are required to put the authorities on notice as they cannot later complain about their rights being violated if they failed to inform the authorities. The judge must ensure that the absence of an interpreter does not prejudice the defendant. Ultimately, the challenging issues that national courts confront when attempting to give effect to this right include assessing the defendant’s level of understanding; considering whether the right belongs to the defendant or the defence as a whole; determining the scope of the related right to translation of documents; and balancing the right to interpretation or translation against the right to be tried without undue delay.

Abstract Currently various industries using translation services stress the necessity of analytical, critical and practical knowledge of 2 foreign languages, substantial skills of translation technologies, as well as transferable skills for professional translator performance. A changing translator profile causes a shift in translation study programmes towards the development of transferable skills along with translation-related skills. Therefore, the paper focuses on employers’ expectations in relation to the abilities and skills of professionally trained translators. The outcomes of this study reflect the overall situation in the country, still undergoing significant changes in the translation-related industry from the perspective of employers who agree that together with translation-related skills graduates of translation programmes should possess a range of transferable skills, which empower them to act professionally in a changing environment.

Purpose: to reveal the features of the use of tactical actions by boxers of highly qualified women. Materials and methods: Theoretical analysis of information from the scientific and methodological literature and communication with the leading trainers of women in boxing made it possible to analyze the history of the development of women's boxing in the World, to determine the importance of tactical training for boxers and its content. Also during this research, we watched videos of the competitive activity of highly qualified female boxers in weight categories up to 51 kg. and up to 75 kg. Using the methods of pedagogical observation, chronometric observation and mathematical statistics made it possible to identify the peculiarities of tactics of competitive battle tactics in women boxers of high qualification. Results: At the present stage of the development of women's boxing, the world leader is the Russian team, the second is China, the third is India. Ukraine is not one of the top ten women's boxing teams in the World. Tactical training in women's boxing should be significantly different from the tactical training of male boxers. Women boxers of high qualification of lightweights can be related to tempo men, and women boxers of high qualification of heavyweights to gamers. However, it is difficult to related some women boxers of high qualification to any one of the listed types, since they are able to rearrange tactics during the match itself, if necessary. Conclusions: Modern tactical training in women's boxing is aimed at universalization, which is characterized by a variety of applied techniques and their frequent change. This fact makes increased demands on the quality of the technical training process in women's boxing.

The article highlights the problem of quality of higher education in domestic universities that cannot be solved exclusively by educational institutions, because it requires to change the environment. Consumers of higher education are willing to pay for its value, depending on the career prospects and earnings of graduates. Success in career and earnings for consumers of higher education is determined by their productivity as employees or as entrepreneurs in private business. The effectiveness of University graduates depends on competition in the labor market among employers, competition for consumers and universities competition for the best teachers. Countries with a relatively high share of the public sector also presented low figures of labor productivity due to sluggish competition for skilled labor among firms and low motivation of consumers of higher education to acquire high qualifications. The ability of universities to realize their potential in creating value for consumers depends on the degree of their autonomy from government regulation. Russian universities, which are subject to a heavy burden of state regulation, for this reason may lose in global competition to foreign universities. The increase in the degree of economic freedom has a positive impact on wages in various countries of the world. Freedom from government regulation and control allows universities to make effective decisions that contribute to creating value for consumers at the lowest cost, which positively affects the efficiency of their graduates. The most important resource of universities in the process of production of utility for consumers are highly qualified scientists who are able to create innovations that bring the highest return among other investments. The growth of teachers' salaries is accompanied by the growth of the rating among universities on the quality of higher education. Attractive salary for scientists combined with high requirements for their qualifications in the best universities in the world, allows you to select the best staff for training students and produce the most effective specialists.

Summary To sum up my advice to those persons charged with procuring translations: Make sure you have specified exactly what is to be translated and by when you need it. Build up a group of suppliers on the basis of your own experience. Once you have found a group of individuals or firms who can give you the type of service you require, use them regularly and make their work a little easier by providing them with English-language references whenever possible. Above all, do not be overly concerned with costs. A good translator is a highly trained and skilled professional and will not condescend to work for cut-rate fees. It is no more advisable to look for bargains in translation services than it would be to look for bargains in medical or legal services. John Ruskin, the English writer and critic, wrote a century ago : ''There is hardly anything in the world that someone cannot make a little worse and sell a little cheaper—and the people who consider price alone are this man's lawful prey." This is particularly true in the field of translation.

From the trend in the submission of manuscript it seems that the journal is acting as a catalyst for the advancement of science both within and outside the Asian region. The paper reviews the development of specialized translation training methodology in Ukraine on the example of Dictum Factum and UTTU Series projects, as well as in a broader context. The authors argue for the relevance of including specialized translation into the content of university-level translator training. The article shows the dynamics of the specialized translation share in the global amount of translation services in the late 1990s and the early 2000s, as well as the intensification of its investigation among the foreign and Ukrainian researchers. The authors outline the specifics of translator training problems in Ukraine after it gained independence and give grounds for the development of a comprehensive model of specialized translation training for the purpose of the research planning and coordination. The paper formulates the tasks and conditions to be accomplished to achieve the said aim. The researchers describes the model developed within the Mykola Lukash Translation Studies department at V.N.Karazin Kharkiv National University. This model is based on the competence, field-oriented and cyclic approaches. The competence approach relies on the PACTE model (with some distinctions) and includes bilingual, extralinguistic, translation, personal and strategic subcompetences. Thus, the aim of the training is defined as a systematic, purposeful and integrative development of the said subcompetences. The acquisition of skills and subskills is provided for on the basis of their list for each type of translation and interpreting. The system of assessing the latter is an important component of the model. The field-oriented approach implicates a prevalence of specialized translation in the content of training, while the cyclic approach involves organization of exercises in cycles, each of which is based on one text related to a specific topic or subtopic. The paper shows the development of this model in the works of various Ukrainian researchers, as well as its implementation in the published textbooks and other teaching materials. The authors outline the prospects of further research.
