By its nature, education has 3 forms that are in a strong interdependence: formal, non-formal and informal. Non-formal education can be defined as a form of education implemented by schools in partnership with different educational institutions, using extracurricular activities, to help students deepen knowledge acquired in schools. A good example of this definition is the program “To know more, to be better!” implemented by the Romanian Ministry of Education since 2012. The main aim of this research was to analyze the impact of the above mentioned program upon students and teachers from Bihor County, Romania. The instrument used was a questionnaire with 18 questions. The sample consisted of 125 teachers from pre-primary, primary, secondary and high schools from Bihor County, Romania. The study was conducted in April 2014. The results of the research show that the majority of respondents have been pleased with this program, which has been popular among students as well. The latter ones were helped to better understand the theoretical knowledge they acquired during classes. The most frequent extracurricular activities of the program included visits, trips, workshops etc. Key words: extracurricular activities, non-formal education, school results.

The article presents analysis of the requirements of the FSES on the levels of General education to personal and metasubject educational outcomes. The basis for the analysis of requirements of the FSES is the controllability of the process of formation of metasubject and personal educational outcomes at the level of educational institutions, and educational systems. It is obvious that the management of the process of educational outcomes formation implies the possibility to defi ne specifi c educational outcomes of the stage, year of study, topic / section, lesson / extracurricular activities and implement formative and summative assessment of the results. This demands the operationalization of the FSES requirements for the purpose of building up and evaluation. The attempt of such operationalization is proposed in the paper and supplied with examples. The article contains correlation requirements of the new standard to personal and metasubject educational results with education results traditionally accepted in didactics. It is revealed that a signifi cant portion of metasubject educational outcomes represent the key (general) competencies of students, i.e., assigned universal ways of activity in the fi eld of information, communication, problem-solving (self-management). The results have been obtained in the framework of the state task of Russian Ministry of Education for the Federal Institute for Education Development on the theme Organizational-methodical maintenance of process of formation of metasubject and personal outcomes of students in accordance with FSES of elementary, primary and secondary schools.

The significance of this paper lies in shedding lights on the importance of informal education programs as catch up programs to educate those who didn’t have the opportunity to be in schools for different reasons and bridge the gap between them and their peers in schools. Although the study will show how powerful this tool is, it is also worth mentioning that more efforts should be done to enroll those children in public schools and provide them with equal access to the formal education system. This study used pre and post tests that are designed upon the expected learning outcomes from the literacy and numeracy materials prepared by the technical team at Save the Children International. The designed materials, in order to be compliant with the advancement of students in the formal education system were based on the national learning outcomes set by the Ministry of Education in Jordan. The results of the study were excellent enough to show the positive impact of the program as 100 percent of the population scored the passing score in the posttest compared to the zero percent passing the pretest in both literacy and numeracy classes. On the other hand, the study also shows how deprived Syrian children are as a result of the bloody war that harvests not only their souls, but also their future. Finally, it is also worth mentioning that the study also speaks of the pressure on Jordan’s formal education system and the need to support the Ministry of Education meeting the urgent demands of all students nationwide.
