In our studies, we examined the indices of erythrocytopoiesis in service dogs for physical activity. The studies were conducted on 1.5−2 years old Belgian Shepherd (Malinois) dogs whoperformed exercises from the international Mondioring program, which included physical andemotional training to train dogs for the Armed Forces, Border Troops and National Police. Blood was collected from animals before training (at rest) and after the training process (lasting 2 hours). It was found that 62.5% of animals showed a tendency to increase the total number of erythrocytes and their populations −"old" and "mature". Such changes in dogs during exercise are indicative of more intense maturation of “young” erythrocytes in the peripheral blood, elimination of “mature” cells from the depot, increased resistance to the membrane of their membranes, and intensifi cation of the processes of erythrocyte attachment and delivery. With regard to hemoglobin content in the blood and hematocrit, these fi gures in 75.0% of dogs after exercise tended to increase. However, red blood indices (MCH and MCV) tended to decrease, indicating an increase in the erythrocyte adaptation processes to physiological hypoxia during exercise and the appearance of a large number of unsaturated microcytic forms of erythrocytes in the bloodstream in particular. In the study of the ferumotransferrincomplex, it should be noted that in 87.5% of the animals, the amount of ferum, TIBC and transferrin levels increased, which are related to the release into the bloodstream of the reserve reserves of the ferrum for hemoglobin formation and adequate ability of hepatocytes to synthesize during transplantation. Regular physical activity prescription is a key point for healthy aging and chronic disease management and prevention. Our aim was to evaluate the antioxidant defense system and the mitochondrial status in peripheral blood mononuclear cells (PBMCs) and the level of oxidative damage in plasma in active, intermediate and inactive elderly. In total, 127 healthy men and women >55 years old participated in the study and were classified according on their level of declared physical activity. A more active lifestyle was accompanied by lower weight, fat mass and body mass index when compared to a more sedentary life-style. Active participants exhibited lower circulating PBMCs than inactive peers. Participants who reported higher levels of exercise had increased antioxidant protein levels when compared to more sedentary partakers. Carbonylated protein levels exhibited similar behavior, accompanied by a significant raise in expression of cytochrome c oxidase subunit IV in PBMCs. No significant changes were found in the activities of antioxidant enzymes and in the expression of structural (MitND5) and mitochondrial dynamic-related (PGC1α and Mitofusins1/2.) proteins. Active lifestyle and daily activities exert beneficial effects on body composition and it enhances the antioxidant defenses and oxidative metabolism capabilities in PBMCs from healthy elderly.

IntroductionActivity of daily life is an important key to maintaining and improving the health status. This is especially important for people in physically demanding jobs, such as firefighters, military and police.MethodsIn order to record the actual state of activity of daily life among soldiers, a step count measurement with a pedometer was carried out on 196 soldiers of the German Armed Forces over 7 days and supplemented by a questionnaire on lifestyle factors.ResultsThe subjects exceeded the recommended 7000–8000 steps per day, with the rank and file moving the least and the commissioned officers the most. It was also striking that the soldiers in the study moved an average of 2600 steps less per day on weekends than on weekdays.ConclusionsBased on these findings, targeted physical activity measures can be established for the identified target groups within the framework of corporate health management in order to ensure the physical fitness of soldiers on routine duty and on deployment.

BackgroundThe prognostic impact of comorbidities in patients with sarcomas is not well defined. The aims of this study were to examine the implications of comorbidities and abnormal peripheral blood indices in patients with sarcomas.MethodsA population-based database was assembled to extract patients with sarcoma in Hong Kong between January 2004 and March 2018. Charlson’s Comorbidity Index (CCI) score and prevalence of comorbidities, neutrophil, lymphocyte and platelet counts at diagnosis were assessed. The prognostic values of CCI, neutrophil-lymphocyte (NLR) and platelet-lymphocyte ratios (PLR) were estimated using Cox proportional hazard models. Restricted cubic spline plots were used to explore the association of baseline NLR and PLR with all-cause and cancer-specific mortality.ResultsAmong 3358 eligible patients with sarcomas, 52.2% died after a median 26 months of follow-up. The most common comorbidities were diabetes mellitus (9.8%) and cerebrovascular disease (4.8%). Patients with higher CCI had higher mortality (CCI=3 vs CCI=2; HR 1.49; 95% CI 1.19 to 1.87; p<0.01; CCI ≥7 vs CCI =2; HR 3.20; 95% CI 2.62 to 3.92; p<0.001). Abnormal NLR and PLR levels were associated with higher all-cause mortality (NLR: HR 1.698, p<0.001, 95% CI 1.424 to 2.025; PLR: HR 1.346, p<0.001, 95% CI 1.164 to 1.555) and cancer-related mortality (NLR: HR 1.648, p<0.001, 95% CI 1.341 to 2.024; PLR: HR 1.430, p<0.001, 95% CI 1.205 to 1.697).ConclusionsThis is the largest population-based soft-tissue or bone sarcoma cohort worldwide. Comorbidities have significant negative prognostic impact on the survival of patients with sarcomas. Moreover, NLR and PLR are robust prognostic factors, and abnormal NLR and PLR have negative effects yet non-linear effects on survival.

Objective: Aims at recognizing the haematological abnormalities in peripheral blood associated with HIV infection and to correlate the haematological abnormalities with CD4 cell count to highlight these manifestations with disease progression.Methodology: Observational cross sectional study.Setting: Department of Haematology, Armed Forces Institute of Pathology (AFIP), Dhaka cantonment.Patients: Two hundred four (204) HIV – infected patients receiving antiretroviral therapy aged from three years to 65 years. There were 132 male and 72 female patients.Results: Anaemia was found in 103 (50.5%) cases. Leucopenia and thrombocytopenia were observed in ten (4.9%) and seven (3.4%) cases respectively. Lymphopenia was found in 12 (5.9%) cases. In 50 (24.5%) cases Erythrocyte Sedimentation Rate (ESR) was > 20 mm at the end of 1st hour. Flow cytometric analysis for CD4 cell count showed < 200 cells/cmm in 65 (31.8%) cases, in between 200 cells/cmm and 499 cells/cmm in 117 (57.4%) cases and > 500 cells/cmm in 22 (10.8%) cases.Conclusion: Haematological abnormalities are common in HIV – infected patients and responsible for significant morbidity and mortality in these patients. These abnormalities are more frequent with disease progression. The present study revealed a significant increase in the number of anaemia, leucopenia, lymphopenia and thrombocytopenia with decreasing CD4 cell count.J Bangladesh Coll Phys Surg 2014; 32: 130-136

This research gives an insight into the main features of the cardiovascular system’s statistical and dynamic, as well as young local and foreign citizens in Almaty city adaptation indices. 1500 analysis of blood indices was carried out before and after the physical workload. Hematological research were carried out based on N. M. Mykolayiv method and included the erythrocytes and leukocytes count in peripheral blood vessel and absolute number of lymphocytes . Foreign students’ absolute amount of leukocytes and erythrocytes in the peripheral blood vessels and the phagocytic activity of neutrophil were different from local students’ indices.

It is a well known, that the physical activity promotes mental health. Physically active people relatively rarely suffer from psychosomatic and depressive disorders. It is possible that the differences in gene activity in peripheral blood leukocytes may be associated with depression, especially genes participating in inflammatory response. Thus, the aim of our study was to investigate the levels of IL6 and IL10 mRNA and IL10/IL6 ratio in peripheral blood leukocytes in healthy, physically active individuals. One hundred healthy young men (20-23 years old) participated in this study. All of them declared regular physical activity. Participants were non-smokers, and consumed alcohol occasionally. To access genes expression, 2 ml of venous blood was collected. RNA isolation was performed and then the relative expression of IL6 and IL10 was calculated using quantitative real-time polymerase chain reaction (Q-RT-PCR). Pro and anti-inflammatory balance was calculated as 2^relative of IL10/ 2^relative expression of IL6. Low expression of tested genes was found in healthy young men. Mean expression for IL6 was 2^0.051 (n=90) and for IL10 2^0.08 (n=98). Mean ratio IL10/IL6 was 2^1.58. Higher expression of IL10 compared to IL6 may be essential not only for the physical performance but also for the mental health. Diverse reports in the literature may be associated with choosing various control groups, i.e. sedentary or older individuals. It is possible, that measuring the expression of IL6 and IL10 (especially the ratio IL10/IL6) in peripheral blood leukocytes may be useful in the assessment of depressive disorders. Thus, molecular study of active young men can confirm the need for physical activity among people suffering from depression, but further studies are needed, particularly among people with psychosomatic disorders.

At the moment in Poland, specialised dispositional groups such as the armed forces, the police, and various guards and other services are constituted. The fundamental tool that the state has at its disposal to counteract potential threats to internal security and public order, and to react appropriately to existing threats is a separate body — the police. The main objective of this paper is to define the practical benefits which can be gained as a result of organising cooperation between the police units mentioned above in an appropriate way. This paper is an attempt to present practical cooperation between a local police unit and the Police Academy in Szczytno. It also points out the distinct nature of functioning of the Regional Police Headquarters in Katowice and its dependent units; it describes the impact that cooperation with an educational institution has on the quality of preserving public security and order as well as the practical aspect of such cooperation on the example of the organisational units of the Polish National Police specified above.
