Expressiveness of the church modes is reflected in their character and association of certain states with a specific mode or single Gregorian composition which possesses unique expressiveness. An important characteristic of Gregorian chant on the tonality level is diatonic singing based on scales without chromatics, using only one semitone in the tetrachord whose musical structure reflects the expressiveness of Gregorian chant. Such expressiveness achieves character specificities which each mode respectively reflects. Various modal material in the form of typical melodic shifts in a certain composition conditions the expressiveness of Gregorian music and influences the listening impression and assessment of individual Gregorian tunes. The goal of this work is to examine primary education students' experiences of the expressiveness of Gregorian modes and explore if today's auditory sense accustomed to two tonality genres, major and minor, recognises what has been stored in the heritage of Gregorian chant repertoire for centuries. The research was conducted in the school year 2018/2019 with students of first, second, third and fourth grade of primary school (N=100). The results have shown that first and second grade students express higher auditory sensibility in recognizing specific characteristic of authentic Gregorian modes. Third and fourth grade students are audibly less open and perceptive considering tonal character differences in the authentic Gregorian modes. Key words: Gregorian chant; modality; old church scales; students in primary education

This research is motivated by the low mathematics learning outcomes of students of class V A of SD Negeri 136 Pekanbaru, with an average value of 68.25 and of 34 students only 11 students who reach the minimum completeness criteria (KKM). This research is a classroom action research (CAR) conducted aimed at improving the learning outcomes of class A students by applying the Group investigation (GI) type of cooperative learning model. The subjects of this study were class V A students in the 2018/2019 school year. Data collection instruments in this study were teacher activity sheets and student activities and learning outcomes. It can be seen from the results of the implementation of classroom actions carried out 2 cycles, namely the first cycle of students who completed as many as 23 people (67.65%) and students who did not complete 13 people (31.70%), in the second cycle the cycle students completed completely (100 %). There are no more students who receive grades below the KKM. The results showed that the application of the Group investigation (GI) type of cooperative learning model could improve the mathematics learning outcomes of students in class V A of SD Negeri 136 Pekanbaru.

Abstract: Mathematics becomes the lesson that is considered still tends to be difficult to understand. Facts and reality, mathematics remains the basis for some science in other fields. One area of science that is built on the basis of mathematics is the science of informatics technology. Thus, learners in the field of informatics must understand and learn math to be able to understand the field of informatics which became its main field. The purpose of this study is to develop a model of mathematics learning in the field of informatics. The research method used is Research and Development (R & D) method. this research produces products in the form of conceptual for the mathematical learning model of discrete mathematics subject.

The  research  method  was  quasi  experimental  research  by  using  simple  factorial design  2x2.  The  population  in  this  research  was  the  second  grade  students  of  English Teaching Department of IKIP PGRI Madiun. The writer used cluster random sampling to get the sample. It consists of 60 students which were divided into two classes, II D consisting 30 students as a control class and II B consisting 30 students as an experimental class. The instruments  used to  collect  the data were  writing test  to  get  the score  of writing skill. Documentation was used to get the data of students’   intelligence. Before the instruments were used, the tryout was done to know the validity and readiability of instruments. The writer analyzed the data in term of their frequency distribution, normality, and homogeneity. Then,  the  data  were  analyzed  by  using  multifactoral  analysis  2X2.The  findings  in  this research lead to some conclusions: (1) GIST is more effective than DI for teaching writing; (2) The students having high intelligence have better writing skill than the students having low intelligence; and (3) There is an  interaction between teaching strategies and students’ intelligence for teaching writing. The effect of teaching strategies on the students’writing skill depends on the students’intelligence.

This research aimed to find out: (1) which one providing better mathematics learning outcomes, GI model or direct learning model, (2) which one providing better mathematics learning outcomes, the high, medium or low learning independence students, (3) interaction between learning models and learning independence on mathematics learning outcomes. This research used the quasi-experimental research method with 2×3 factorial design. The population were all students of the 8 th class of SMP Negeri 6 Surakarta on academic year 2015/2016. The sample was taken using purposive sampling. The instruments used were learning independence questionnaire and mathematics learning outcomes test. The proposed hypothesis of the research were analyzed by using two-way analysis of variance. The conclusions of this research were as follow. (1) GI model provided better mathematics outcomes than direct learning model. (2) The high learning independence student had better mathematics learning outcomes than medium and low learning independence students, and the medium had as good as low learning independence students. (3) there was no interaction between learning models and learning independence on mathematics learning outcomes.

The research aimed at finding out speaking ability of second grade elementary students by using Think Talk Write learning model. The data retrieval was carried out for four days. The problem was lack of teachers’ innovation in improving students’ speaking ability so the researcher decided to carry out this model. The research method was descriptive qualitative. Primary data was taken from this research result and secondary data was taken from published journals. Data analysis techniques were triangulation and data reduction from interview, observations, students’ activities, and students’ presentation results. The result of this study showed that on the first day of observation the students were still in low category, while on the second day to the fourth day, 25 students were in fast category and only 2 students were in medium category. Based on this result, it can be concluded that Think Talk Write learning model can improve speaking ability of second grade elementary students.
