This chapter will explore the attitudes of young women between the ages of 18-25 years towards romantic relationships in the slums of Nairobi, with a view to wider lessons for young women in other societies. Through four case studies examining the lives, relationships and motherhood experiences in Mukuru Kwa Ruben slum, key themes are suggested to explain the high rate of early and single motherhood. Through the construct of ‘relationship literacy,' the chapter will suggest that poor or non-existent male role models, weak or negative experiences of committed relationships, combined with harsh socio-economic consequences have resulted in young women having a little notion of what a real relationship is or what commitment is about. In the conclusion, it is suggested that to achieve improved relationships and life chances for young women both in the slums and well beyond, it is vital to focus on promoting and enhancing the relationship literacy of girls and young women, to enable them to make effective life choices.

The erosion of streambanks causes soil loss and degrades the stream habitat. To optimize the prevention of bank erosion, we first need to determine the most vulnerable places on banks. This can be done by the BANCS model. However, data are still missing on its accuracy in small streams. We measured the real annual erosion rates on 18 experimental sections established on the Lomnická stream. Using the Near Bank Stress (NBS) and Bank Erosion Hazard Index (BEHI) we developed the erosion prediction curves and evaluated the relationship between these two indices and the real annual erosion rates. We found a strong relationship between BEHI and real annual erosion rates, with R2 = 0.72. The relationship between the NBS index and real annual erosion rates was also strong, with R2 = 0.53. Then we constructed erosion prediction curves for very high and extreme BEHI and for moderate and high BEHI. Despite the strong correlation between BEHI and annual erosion rates, the prediction curves had no real relationship with real annual erosion rates, with R2= 0.004 and 0.15, respectively.

As an open, free, flexible social platform, microblog develops rapidly recent years. State of art research on friends recommendation has attract both industrial and academical concerns. Compared with traditional social networks, microblog contains both strong social relations based on the real relationship, and weak social relations based on interests, locations and other incidental factors. How to utilize these relationships and characters in personalized friends recommendation is still under research. This paper presents a new hybrid recommendation model, considering both the relationship strength and interest similarity in microblog, using the social graph mining algorithm to find strong social relations and the item-based collaborative filtering algorithm to mine weak social relations. Experimental results show that the proposed hybrid algorithm outperforms the traditional algorithm.

Therapists’ forced transition to provide psychotherapy remotely during the COVID-19 pandemic offers a unique opportunity to examine therapists’ views and challenges with online therapy. This study aimed to investigate the main challenges experienced by therapists during the transition from in-person to online therapy at the beginning of the pandemic and 3 months later, and the association between these challenges and therapists’ perception of the quality of the relationship with their online patients, and therapists’ attitudes and views about online therapy and its efficacy at these two timepoints. As part of a large-scale international longitudinal survey, we collected data from 1,257 therapists at two timepoints: at the start of COVID-19, when many therapists switched from providing in-person therapy to online therapy, as well as 3 months later, when they had had the opportunity to adjust to the online therapy format. At both timepoints, therapists reported on perceived challenges, quality of working alliance and real relationship, attitudes toward online therapy, and their views on online therapy’s efficacy compared to in-person therapy. Factor analysis of individual survey items at both timepoints identified four different types of challenges among this therapist sample: Emotional connection (feeling connected with patients, reading emotions, express or feel empathy), Distraction during sessions (therapist or patient), Patients’ privacy (private space, confidentiality), and Therapists’ boundaries (professional space, boundary setting). Older and more experienced therapists perceived fewer challenges in their online sessions. At baseline, all four types of challenges were associated with lower perceived quality of the therapeutic relationship (working alliance and real relationship), and more negative attitudes toward online therapy and its efficacy. After 3 months, perceived challenges with three domains – Emotional connection, Patients’ privacy, and Therapists’ boundaries significantly decreased – whereas challenges in the fourth domain – Distraction – increased. In our study, therapists’ concerns about being able to connect with patients online appeared to be the most impactful, in that it predicted negative attitudes toward online therapy and its perceived efficacy 3 months later, above and beyond the effect of therapists’ age and clinical experience. Clinical and training implications are discussed.

This study aims to analyze the relationship between socio-economic characteristics rice farmers in participat-ing in agricultural extension in the Village District of Tompaso Kamanga. The method used in this research is quantitative method. The research was conducted in the Village District of Tompaso Kamanga Minahasa regency. The number of respondents were 30 farmers: Simple Random Sam-pling. By using questionnaires. The variables measured were: age is measured in (year), education is formal education (elementary Graduate, Graduate from junior high school, go to college, PT), revenue is measured from the income of the paddy rice farming (USD), the status of land ownership (see from their own land and tenants and or penyakap), participation in agricultural extension (seen from the frequency of attendance). To determine the socio-economic factors that influence the selection of a variety of extension methods used Spearman Rank correlation formula (Siegel, 1997). The results showed that the characteristics of the mem-bers of the real touch with the level of participation and vice versa if the value of the probability (P)> α, mean that there is no real relationship between the characteristics of the members of the participation rate. Keywords: Relationship, Characteristics, Farmers, Agricultural Extension

This study is aimed at exploring the relationship between serum ferritin and blood lipids and the influence of diabetes and different hs-CRP levels. A total of 8163 subjects were analyzed. Participators were classified according to serum ferritin, diabetes, and two hs-CRP levels. Blood lipids were determined using standardized methods and conditions. Except for HDL-C, there was a significant increase in blood lipids in the progressive ferritin group with normal hs-CRP levels (P<0.05). But HDL-C was just the opposite (P<0.0001). In nondiabetic patients, TG, TC, and LDL-C were significantly elevated in the progressive ferritin group (P<0.05). And, HDL-C was just the opposite (P<0.05). The generalized linear model and the parsimonious model showed that serum TG was positively correlated with ferritin, and LDL-C was negatively correlated with ferritin (P<0.05). But the correlation between LDL-C and ferritin was broken (P>0.05). After a sufficient adjustment, there was a positive correlation between serum TG and ferritin and a negative correlation between LDL-C and ferritin. Nonetheless, a negative correlation between LDL-C and ferritin is influenced by diabetes frailly. And, there was no change of relationship between lipids and ferritin in different hs-CRP levels. We found a real relationship between ferritin and lipids after sufficient adjustment for confounders.

Increased farm productivityis realized in the optimal utilization of land potential by applying the concept ofagribusiness maximally. Efforts to increase productivity are conducted by increasingthe competence of farmers namely knowledge, technical and managerial competence. The purpose of the study is to determine the level of competence of farmers, the levelof productivity of California papaya farming, and the relationship betweencompetence with productivity of California papaya farming. The research wasconducted at Merta Giri Kusuma Farmer Group, Abang Village, Abang Sub-District,Karangasem Regency for 5 months. There are 20 members as population or therespondents taken by the census technique. Data analysis method used qualitativedescriptive analysis and Rank Spearman correlation statistical analysis. In general, the competence of farmers is very significant ly related to the productivity ofCalifornia papaya farming. A very real relationship at the 0.01 level is technicalcompetence with a correlation coefficient of 0.835 and managerial competence witha correlation coefficient of 0,599. While the competence that is significantly relatedto the productivity of farming at the 0.05 level is the knowledge competence with thecorrelation coefficient of 0.465.
