One of the most challenging problems during disasters involving crowds is pedestrian evacuation. It is very important in such situations to improve survival rates by getting all or most of the people out in the shortest possible time. Technological intervention through augmenting the evacuation process using an unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) exhibits great potential in improving survival rates, but the exploration of this method is still in its infancy. Therefore, this study explores the potential of utilizing UAVs for crowd management during emergency evacuations. We conducted a rigorous study, using a simulation model featuring four UAVs and differing numbers of pedestrians, with use of two UAV guidance approaches: partial guidance and full guidance. The experimental results suggest that exploiting UAVs in crowd evacuation and following the partial guidance approach can lead to a more efficient evacuation process.

The simulation of a crowd evacuating public buildings can be an important reference in planning the layout of buildings and formulating evacuation strategies. This paper proposes an agent-based crowd model; a crowd evacuation navigation simulation model is proposed for the multi-obstacle environment. We introduce the concept of navigation factor to describe the proximity of the navigation point to the exit. An algorithm for creating navigation points in multi-obstacle environment is proposed along with the global navigation and local navigation control algorithms of the crowd. We construct a crowd evacuation simulation prototype system with different simulation scenes using the scene editor. We conduct the crowd evacuation simulation experiment in the multi-obstacle scene, recording and analyzing the relevant experimental data. The simulation prototype system can be used to derive the evacuation time of the crowd and analyze the evacuation behavior of the crowd. It is expected to provide a visual deduction method for crowd management in an evacuation emergency.

Crowd management is an essential task to ensure the safety and smoothness of any events. Using the novel technologies including surveillance cameras, communication technics between security agents, the control of the crowd has become easier. However, the sue of these technics is still not perfectly effective. This paper presents an approach for managing the crowd at the entrance of event (festival, stadium...) using surveillance cameras. Using cameras and some panels in each entrance, the crowd density is extracted and illustrated in each panel. So, before reaching any gate, the people can see the available and the not crowded gate to reach the target. The proposed technique helps not just in smoothing the motion of the crowd but also minimize the crowdity and abnormal behaviors of the people.

ABSTRACTBalikpapan, a city of oil. Despite this predicate, it suffer from high criminal level. This incude robbery, child kidnapping, female abuse that have been a great concern in many residential in Balikpapan. One of this residence is Griya Wiyata Asri III Residence. In this residence, a neigbourhood security system has been made. In this system, the resident of this residence have a shift to do a night watching. This system have been effective in the night, but in the daylight, because most of the people are in productive age, most of them working outside of this residential, make this residential empty, thus, making an opportunity for criminal to occur. To answer this probem, an unmanned aerial vehicle was built to monitor the condition of the neighbourhood. The evaluation of this preliminary stage of this community service was done merely from the results of the aerial view. This aerial view, it is so clear and can capture well the activity done in the neighbourhood in a one frame. So, this UAV have a potential to be used as aid to the neighbourhood security system which have a problem on lacking some human resources in the daylight. Keywords: UAV; security; neighbourhood.

Betok fish is very popular with the people because of the delicious and tasty taste of the meat, therefore this type of fish is quite potential for cultivation. (Muslim 2008) in (Anggara et al 2013). Most people who cultivate betok fish (A.testudineus, Bloch) do not understand their character or behavior, so that many farmers experience complaints in maintenance, especially in their growth and survival. As an alternative to the maintenance of Betok fish (A. testudineus, Bloch), the growth rates and viability of the Betok (A. testudineus, Bloch) fry were reared in a container using a shellter. The research design used was an environmental design RAL (completely randomized design) consisting of 4 (four) treatments and 3 (three) replications. The treatments were as follows: Treatment A: Betok fish seeds (A. testudineus, Bloch) without treatment (control), Treatment B: Betok fish seeds (A. testudineus, Bloch) were given a bamboo shellter ,, Treatment C; Betok fish (A. testudineusBloch) was given a coconut shell shellter, Treatment D: Betok fish (A.testudineusBloch) was given a paralon shellter. The results showed that betok (A. tetstudineus, Bloch) seeds were maintained using a shelter (Treatment C and B) resulted in better survival rates (99.35% & 98.07%) than treatments A and D (96.15% & 96.79%).

Crowd evacuation simulation is an important research topic for designing reasonable building layout and effective evacuation routes. The reciprocal velocity obstacles (RVO) model is a pedestrian motion model which is used, but it does not work when complex and multiple obstacles are present in the scene. This paper proposes an improved RVO model with path planning and emotion contagion for crowd evacuation simulation. The model uses the vertices of the obstacles to construct pedestrian path nodes for planning pedestrian evacuation paths. To make the pedestrian evacuation paths simulation results more reasonable, the safety and congestion of the path nodes are considered, to plan the shortest evacuation path. Finally, a contagious disease model is introduced to study the impact of emotion contagion on the evacuation process. A crowd evacuation simulation system is developed, and simulations have been carried out in a variety of scenarios. Experiments show that the model can effectively simulate crowd evacuation, providing a powerful reference for building and layout design.

During last decades, Cellular Automata (CAs) as bio-inspired parallel computational tools have been proven rather efficient and robust on modeling and simulating many different physical processes and systems and solving scientific problems, in which global behavior arises from the collective effect of simple components that interact locally. Among others of most renowned and well established CA applications, crowd evacuation and pedestrian dynamics are considered ones of the most timely and lively topics. Numerous models and computational paradigms of CAs either as standalone models or coupled with other theoretical and practical modeling approaches have been introduced in literature. All these crowd models are taking advantage of the fact that CA show evidence of a macroscopic nature with microscopic extensions, i.e. they provide adequate details in the description of human behavior and interaction, whilst they retain the computational cost at low levels. In this aspect, several CA models for crowd evacuation focusing on different modeling principles, like potential fields techniques, obstacle avoidance, follow the leader principles, grouping and queuing theory, long memory effects, etc. are presented in this paper. Moreover, having in mind the inherent parallelism of CA and their straightforward implementation in hardware, some anticipative crowd management systems based on CAs are also shown when operating on medium density crowd evacuation for indoor and outdoor environments. Real world cases and different environments were examined proving the efficiency of the proposed CA based anticipative systems. The proposed hardware implementation of the CAs-based crowd simulation models is advantageous in terms of low-cost, high-speed, compactness and portability features. Finally, robot guided evacuation with the help of CAs is also presented. The proposed framework relies on the well established CAs simulation models, while it employs a real-world evacuation implementation assisted by a mobile robotic guide, which in turn guides people towards a less congestive exit at a time.

Building inspection is very much required for all buildings especially those historical ones to maintain the structure condition and the safety of the people around. Visual inspection is commonly conducted using manual descriptive information carried out by the inspector personally. The problem with this technique of assessment is that the time needed to write all the defect description on site and to access difficult area can be hazardous. The aim of performing historical building inspection on Tan Swee Hoe’s historical mansion is to evaluate the overall condition of the building with Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV) image assisted inspection and Condition Survey Protocol 1 (CSP1) method. From this drone assisted inspection, it shows that the time spent on site is less than half an hour and the data collected being evaluated with CSP1 method defined that the building is dilapidated. The overall building condition is in red class and require serious attention to avoid any injuries to the visitors. To prevent a possible failure of a building in the coming years, a suitable condition inspection has been carried out to identify the current existing defect so that it would be fixed before further damage to the building and visitors around it.
