The birth of a child marks the beginning of a new developmental period for the parents. These changes have positive but also negative aspects, such as the increase in fatigue experienced by mothers during this period of time, which can be very limiting and lead them to postpone other life or work goals. However, despite the widespread nature of this problem, there is a lack of information about the duration of this fatigue, with estimates ranging from three months to six years; this prevents mothers from planning this period of their lives adequately. The current study evaluated fatigue in a Spanish sample of 67 women with infants less than two years old and drew a comparison with another sample of 46 women with similar characteristics who were not caring for an infant at that time in order to determine the differences between them and how fatigue in the former group evolves depending on the age of the infant. The results show that fatigue is effectively maintained until at least two years after the birth of the infant.

In single-coated animal species selected for fibre production, such as sheep and Angora goats, nutrition is known to have a positive effect on fibre length and diameter, and hence on the weight of fibre produced, while in double-coated species, such as the cashmere goat, the fibre characteristics of the undercoat appear relatively insensitive to nutritional influence. Recent studies on the relationship between nutrition and fibre production in the llama, a double-coated species, indicate that it conforms to the above generalisation in that the growth rate and diameter of its fibre are not amenable to nutritional manipulation (Russel and Redden, 1994). There is a lack of information on the effects of nutrition on fibre characteristics and production in the other domesticated species of South American camelid, the single-coated alpaca. The experiment reported here was designed to provide such information.

The development of multimodal media compensates for the lack of information expression in a single modality and thus gradually becomes the main carrier of sentiment. In this situation, automatic assessment for sentiment information in multimodal contents is of increasing importance for many applications. To achieve this, we propose a joint sentiment part topic regression model (JSP) based on latent Dirichlet allocation (LDA), with a sentiment part, which effectively utilizes the complementary information between the modalities and strengthens the relationship between the sentiment layer and multimodal content. Specifically, a linear regression module is developed to share implicit variables between image–text pairs, so that one modality can predict the other. Moreover, a sentiment label layer is added to model the relationship between sentiment distribution parameters and multimodal contents. Experimental results on several datasets verify the feasibility of our proposed approach for multimodal sentiment analysis.

To ascertain the relative contributions of vascular distensibility and nonhomogeneous behavior within the pulmonary circulation to the distinctive nonlinear relationship between inflow pressure (Pin) and flow [pressure-flow (P-F) relationship] and between Pin and outflow pressure (Pout) at constant flow (Pin-Pout relationship), we developed a multibranched model in which the elastic behavior of, and forces acting on, individual branches can be varied independently. The response of the multibranched model is described in the companion article (J. Appl. Physiol. 68: 1514-1527, 1990). Here we describe the methods used and the responses of single components of the larger model. Perivascular pressure is modeled as a function of intravascular and transpulmonary pressures (Pv and Ptp, respectively) and vessel length as a function of lung volume. These and the relationship between vascular area (A) and transmural pressure (Ptm) were modeled primarily from the dog data of Smith and Mitzner (J. Appl. Physiol. 48: 450-467, 1980). Vasomotor tone is modeled as a radial collapsing pressure (Pt) in the same plane as Ptm. In view of lack of information about the relationship between Pt and A for a given active state, different patterns were assumed that span a wide range of possible relationships. The P-F and Pin-Pout relationships of single vessels were very similar to those reported for the entire intact circulation. Of note, the slope of the Pin-Pout relationship in the low Pout range (0-5 Torr) was very low (less than 0.25) and increased gradually with Pout toward unity. Vasomotor tone caused an apparent parallel shift in the P-F relationship in the physiological flow range of the dog (2-8 l/min) regardless of the pattern used to model the Pt vs. A relationship; different patterns affected the P-F relationship only over the low flow range before the parallel shift was established.

Dermatan sulphate, hydroxyproline and collagen fibril diameters were measured in flexor tendons from chick and calf limbs, from early in embryonic development to maturity. The collagen fibril is viewed as a long thin cylinder. A species X present at the periphery of the cylinder, regularly and specifically arrayed along the fibril, should then satisfy the relationship [X]/[collagen]r = k where [X] and [collagen] are tissue concentrations of X and collagen, and r is the fibril radius. Throughout the developmental period studied, dermatan sulphate (i.e.X) in chick, calf and rat tendons fits the relationship, implying that it is specifically, regularly and entirely associated with collagen fibrils, thus confirming and extended previous electron histochemistry [Scott & Orford (1981) Biochem. J. 197, 213-216]. This approach explains the pattern of change of dermatan sulphate content during development of the tendon. The findings imply that the dermatan sulphate proteoglycan-collagen interaction is evolutionarily highly conserved. The relationship [X]/[collagen]r = k is used to show that surface concentrations of covalently bound species, such as extension propeptides, can be easily assessed, given the data base described in paragraph 1 above.

Stimulation of growth and development, especially language development in children, needs to be done to improve children's ability to speak in accordance with the level of development. The lack of information obtained by mothers about the importance of language stimulation for children causes mothers to consider it normal when a child is able to speak too late. The purpose of this study was to determine the relationship between maternal knowledge and the level of language development in children aged 2-3 years in Puskesmas Pandang Panyang, Nagan Raya. This research is analytical with a cross-sectional study design. The number of samples is 100 people taken randomly. The results showed that there was a significant relationship between maternal knowledge about language stimulation and language development in children aged 2-3 years with a value of p = 0.000. With Prevalence ratio (PR), namely 31.89. It is recommended that parents increase their knowledge of language stimulation in order to realize language development according to age and child

The review provides information on the mechanisms of the antitumor action of natural and synthetic compounds of the tropolone series, obtained over the past 30 years in studies on cell cultures and, to a lesser extent, in in vivo experiments. Interest in this group of substances is due to the urgent need of clinical oncology for drugs that effectively damage malignant cells and, at the same time, are safe for healthy tissues. The processes that realize the effects of colchicine, hinokithiol (ß-tuyaplicin) and some of their derivatives (derivatives of bistropolone, α-substituted tropolones, etc.) have been studied most fully. Herewith, more numerous mechanisms of realization of the antitumor effect of hinokithiol and its derivatives were revealed in comparison with colchicine. In addition to the disruption in the formation of the cell division spindle, shown for colchicine and colchamine, such phenomena as caspase-dependent apoptosis and some other types of apoptosis, autophagy, limitation of mitochondrial metabolism, DNA damage and demethylation, and accelerated aging of malignant cells etc. have been described. The promising properties of 2‑quinolyl 1,3‑tropolone derivatives have been shown, and the relationship of their antitumor effect with the induction of apoptosis and changes in the activity of the ERK signaling pathway in some types of malignant cells have been revealed. The results indicate a multiplicity of possible ways of the influence of tropolones on the state of malignant cells, the conditions for the implementation of ones need to be clarified, especially with a lack of information about in vivo processes. The review includes information from the literature presented in the Scopus, WoS, Pubmed databases. 35 % of articles have been published in the last 5 years.

Diabetic retinopathies is a complication of diabetes mellitus causing blindness globally, and as patients live longer, cases of diabetic retinopathy increases. Despite efforts to educate patients at their eye visits, yearly follow up visits is still a major challenge. Objectives of the study were to investigate the reasons for noncompliance by determining the relationship among the selected factors (knowledge/ condence/ fear and anxiety) and adherence to yearly reviews by the ophthalmologist. The instrument used was a semi-structured questionnaire with sections covering demographics, statements regarding diabetes and diabetic eye care and one section with an open ended question to determine the reasons for nonattendance. The open ended question was used to analyse the reason for non-compliance. Atotal of 300 diabetic patients were randomly selected for the study. Of the 300 participants, 151 (50.3%) were compliant. Compliance with doctor's visits was found to be associated with positive behaviour and more knowledge and control. Knowledgeable patients were more satised with the medical services. Fear of stigma associated with diabetes mellitus was found to be associated with demographic variables such as gender, race, marital status, employment status and educational level. The main reasons for noncompliance were lack of information, negligence, busy work schedules and lack of nance.

AbstractMankind has always relied on transportation to move from one place to the other; be it by horse carriage or modernized vehicles. With rising environmental issues such as global warming, the transport industry had to evolve so as to provide greener means of transportation and satisfy demands for eco-friendly technologies. This study has shed light on consumer behaviours towards eco-cars, known as hybrid vehicles. This research was in the context of Mauritius and respondents who already drive a vehicle were targeted so as to prevent lack of information about key questions such as habits on fuel expenses and vehicle features. The survey method used, had 100% response rate and permitted the researcher to get fruitful insights about: the extent of introduction and penetration of hybrid vehicles, the factors influencing the purchase of eco-cars, the perceived benefits of owning a hybrid vehicle and the relationship between age and hybrid vehicles’ characteristics. One revelation of this study is that hybrid vehicles do not have the expected impacts on Mauritian consumers like they have on the international markets; though the younger generation- the leaders of tomorrow- are interested with eco-friendly automobiles.
