Despite the introduction of modern methods of treatment, the creation of new generations of antibacterial agents, and the constant improvement of aseptic and antiseptic methods, the treatment of purulent–inflammatory processes remains one of the most complex and urgent problems in veterinary practice. The article presents the results of the isolation of indigenous microbiota from various biotopes of healthy cats, as well as the study of their biological marker properties for the selection of the most optimal strains in probiotic medicines for the control of surgical infections. It was demonstrated that isolated cultures of bifidobacteria and lactobacilli, which we isolated, revealed high sensitivity to antibiotics of the β-lactam group (excepting L. acidophilus No. 24, L. plantarum “Victoria” No. 22, L. rhamnosus No. 5, L. rhamnosus No. 20, and L. rhamnosus No. 26, which showed a significant variability in sensitivity to antibacterial drugs of this group, indicating the great potential of these microorganisms) and resistance to aminoglycosides, lincosamides, and fluoroquinolones (with the exception of gatifloxacin, which showed high efficiency in relation to all lactic acid microorganisms). The adhesive properties of the isolated lactobacteria and bifidobacteria were variable, even within the same species. It was found that the B. adolescentis No. 23 strain of the Bifidobacterium genus, as well as the L. plantarum No. 8, L. plantarum “Victoria” No. 22, L. rhamnosus No. 6, L. rhamnosus No. 26, L. acidophilus No. 12, and L. acidophilus No. 24 strains of the Lactobacillus genus had the highest adhesive activity. Thus, when conducting a detailed analysis of the biological marker properties of candidate cultures (determining their sensitivity to antimicrobial agents, studying the adhesive properties, and antagonistic activity in relation to causative agents of surgical infection in cats), it was found that the most promising are L. plantarum “Victoria” No. 22, L. rhamnosus No. 26, and L. acidophilus No. 24.

The article highlights the problem of improving the rational treatment of campylobacteriosis. Probiotics are present in treatment regimens along with antibiotics, which have the advantage that they do not violate intestinal microbiocenosis and provide the ability to correct dysbiotic conditions. As well as antimicrobial agents, probiotics have different effects on the growth of pathogenic microorganisms. Campylobacter spp. probiotics in the in vitro system. The article studies the anticampylobacter activity of probiotic cultures of Enterococcus faecium L3, Lactobacillus plantarum 8 R-A3, a mixture of Lactobacillus acidophilus and Saccharomyces boulardii by two-layer agar and droplet method. Analysis of the antagonistic activity of chemically synthesized bacteriocins. The high sensitivity of Campylobacter spp was presented. to probiotics having lactobacilli and enterococci, as well as their metabolites (including bacteriocins). The strain-specific activity of probiotics and its dependence on their ability to produce bacteriocins were found. The results and data of other researchers indicate the need for individual selection of probiotics for the treatment of campylobacteriosis, the feasibility of analyzing the bacteriocinogenicity of the strains and testing their effect on the growth of clinical isolates.

The main factor in the treatment of suppurative and inflammatory processes is the timely optimization of treatment measures taking into account the nature of the microflora and its susceptibility to antimicrobial drugs. The purpose of the study is to monitor the spectrum of microorganisms – pathogens of purulent-inflammatory processes of soft tissues in surgical patients; study of the sensitivity of isolated strains to antibiotics. The material was collected in accordance with aseptic rules. The identification of a pure culture of bacteria was carried out according to morphological, culture, biochemical properties, and the presence of virulence enzymes. Sensitivity of bacteria to antibiotics was determined by the standard disks method (by Kirby-Bauer’s). 255 patients with purulent-inflammatory processes of soft tissues were examined for the period from 2014 to 2017. 229 strains of isolated bacteria were included to Escherichia coli, Citrobacer freundii, Enterobacter cloacae, E.aerogenes, Proteus vulgaris, Staphylococcus aureus, S.epidermidis, Streptococcus pyogenes, S.viridians, S.agalactiae, Pseudomonas aeruginosa. The main cause of purulent-inflammatory processes of soft tissues is Staphylococci (67,2%). Compared to previous studies, the number of P.aeruginosa isolated cultures increased (7.9%). In monoculture and in association with other microorganisms, E. coli (9.6% of cases), E.cloacae et aerogenes (3.9% of cases), P.vulgaris (3.9% of cases), C.freundi (2.5% of cases), S.agalactiae, S.pyogenes, S.viridans (3.5%). The number of associated sows reaches 12%. Clinical strains of microorganisms remain most sensitive to fluoroquinolones, cephalosporins, and also retains high sensitivity to gentamicin, lincomycin, rifampicin, which is important for empirical antibiotic therapy. To increase the effectiveness of antibacterial therapy, strict adherence to the mode of appointment of antibiotics, justification of indications, a combination of antibiotics of different spectrum of action, mandatory correction after determining the sensitivity of the pathogen.

Background:Tuberculosis (TB), one of the leading causes of death worldwide, is difficult to diagnose based only on signs and symptoms. Methods for TB detection are continuously being researched to design novel effective clinical tools for the diagnosis of TB.Objective:This article reviews the methods to diagnose TB at the latent and active stages and to recognize prospective TB diagnostic methods based on nanomaterials. Methods:The current methods for TB diagnosis were reviewed by evaluating their advantages and disadvantages. Furthermore, the trends in TB detection using nanomaterials were discussed regarding their performance capacity for clinical diagnostic applications. Results:Current methods such as microscopy, culture, and tuberculin skin test are still being employed to diagnose TB, however, a highly sensitive point of care tool without false results is still needed. The utilization of nanomaterials to detect the specific TB biomarkers with high sensitivity and specificity can provide a possible strategy to rapidly diagnose TB. Although it is challenging for nanodiagnostic platforms to be assessed in clinical trials, active TB diagnosis using nanomaterials is highly expected to achieve clinical significance for regular application. In addition, aspects and future directions in developing the high-efficiency tools to diagnose active TB using advanced nanomaterials are expounded. Conclusion:This review suggests that nanomaterials have high potential as rapid, costeffective tools to enhance the diagnostic sensitivity and specificity for the accurate diagnosis, treatment, and prevention of TB. Hence, portable nanobiosensors can be alternative effective tests to be exploited globally after clinical trial execution.

Abstract We have developed a multiplex Coherent anti-Stokes Raman scattering (CARS) microscope effective for low-wavenumber measurement by combining a high-repetition supercontinuum light source of 1064 nm and an infrared high-sensitivity InGaAs diode array. This system could observe the low-wavenumber region down to 55 cm-1 with high sensitivity. In addition, using spectrum shaping and spectrum modulation techniques, we simultaneously realized a wide bandwidth (<1800 cm-1), high wavenumber resolution (9 cm-1), high efficiency, and increasing signal to noise ratio by reducing the effect of the background shape in low-wavenumber region. Spatial variation of a sulfur crystal phase transition with metastable states was visualized.

The rapid growth of the acquired resistance of bacteria to antibacterial agents requires a revision of the selection ofempirical antimicrobial therapy in children with urinary tract infection (UTI). The aim of this work was to investigate the etiological structure of uropathogen flora and its sensitivity to nitrofurantoin and antibacterial drugs ofother classes in children with UTI in Kyiv and region. Materials and methods. Were examined in 95 children aged 3 to 17years in the aediatric Nephrology Department of, Institute of Nephrology NAMS of Ukraine” on the basis of clinical hospital №7 Kyiv city in 2015-2016. The disease duration ofthepatients rangedfrom 3 months to 4years. Results. The microbial spectrum of the urine depended on theform of pyelonephritis, but all patients were dominated by enterobacteria E. coli and Kl. pneumoniae. The greatest number of patients was resistant to ampicillin, co-trimoxazol and cefuroxime – 10.5% of patients with acute and 17.2% with chronic pyelonephritis. The highest sensitivity was preserved in all patients before medications meronem and gentamicin – 100% and 94.7%, respectively. Most children in Kyiv and Kyiv region showed a high sensitivity to nitrofurantoin:furamag – 78.9-75.8%,furagin - 63.8-65.5%. Comparative analysis of therapeutic efficiency of drugsfuramag and co-trimoxazol, demonstrated greater therapeutic efficacy of nitro- furans in the absence of recurrences, compared with co-trimoxazol (Oto 1.68withp=0.021). Conclusions. Among the causative agents of UTI in children of the city of Kyiv and Kyiv region was dominated by gram-negativeflora - E. coli and Kl. pneumoniae. High sensitivity to nitrofurantoin drugs, especiallyfuramag, cephalosporins, and gentamicin and meronem was documented. High rates of resistance to penicillin and co-trimoxazol was revealed. The use of the drugfuramag contributed to a more rapid, complete andpersistent normalization ofclinical and laboratory parameters in children with UTI.

The aim of this study was to determine the diagnostic capabilities of various methods of radiological diagnostics for lesions of the metaphyses and epiphyses of bones in newborns and young children. The study involved 108 children in the age group 5 days – 12 months with pathological changes in the pineal gland and bone metaphysis. The possibilities and advantages of standard radiography (СR), ultrasound examination (US) and magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) in the early and differential diagnosis of the osteomyelitis process and epiphyseolysis have been determined. High sensitivity (98 %), specificity (99 %) and accuracy (98 %) for ultrasound and sensitivity (94 %), specificity (89 %) and accuracy (95 %) of MRI in diagnosing osteomyelitis in patients of this age groups. At the same time, the possibilities of standard radiography at the stages of early diagnosis of inflammatory processes in the distal parts of the bones were limited due to a number of factors. The use of diagnostic algorithms greatly facilitates the work of a radiologist and reduces the number of false negative results during the initial treatment of patients.

Introduction. The problem of purulent-inflammatory processes treatment and the prevention of sepsis remains one of the most pressing problems of surgery.Purpose of the study. Is to estimate the effectiveness of sorption composition with antimicrobial properties on the basis of nanodisperse silica on the adhesive properties of microorganisms and to substantiate the expediency of its use for the purulent and inflammatory processes treatment and prevention of sepsis.Materials and methods. To determine the antimicrobial activity and the influence of the antiseptics of decasan, myramistin, ethonium, chlorhexidine and the sorption on the microorganisms adhesion properties composition was used the method of diffusion in agar of the museum strains of microorganisms S. Aureus ATCC 25923, E. Coli ATCC 25922, R. Vulgaris 4636, R. Aureginosa ATCC 27853, S. AIbicans 855/653, SI. Perfringens 28, Peptostreptococcus anaerobicus 22, Bacteroides fragilis 13/83, and clinical strains of S. Aureus, R. Aeuroginosa, E. Coli. Adhesive properties of microorganisms were studied according to the Brillis method et al. (1986) with the subsequent statistical processing of the data.Results. Studies have shown that antiseptics have high antimicrobial activity and reduce the adhesion ability of microorganisms. But the use of only antiseptics or only antibiotics for the purification of purulent foci can lead to toxins absorption and tissue decay products from purulent foci. That processes could be the trigger mechanism for sepsis development. The sorption composition is able to reduce the adhesive activity of bacteria, allows to absorb toxic substances from pathological foci, what preventing their resorption and thereby prevent the development of sepsis.Conclusions. The composition made from sorbents and antiseptics is not inferior to antimicrobial activity to antiseptics, which can reduce the virulence of bacteria, by reducing their adhesive activity, and absorb toxins of microorganisms and tissue decomposition products on their surface, thus prevent their absorption, which will prevent the purulent-inflammatory process progression and sepsis development. Keywords: sorption composition, nanodisperse silica, antiseptics, adhesive properties of microorganisms, prevention of sepsis.

Inflammatory eye diseases are one of the most important problems of ophthalmology. They can be caused by various pathogens of the infection, which is still more often bacterial. Therapy of bacterial inflammatory diseases of the eye involves the use of antibacterial drugs (sulfonamides, antiseptics, nitrofurans, etc.), among which antibiotics are of primary importance. Of this group of drugs, in this review article, special attention is paid to quinolones, mainly synthetic fluoroquinolones, which are distinguished by a wide range of bactericidal action, fairly high efficiency, low level of resistance of microorganisms to it and the frequency of side effects, as well as good tolerability by patients, i.e. they best meet the requirements for modern topical antimicrobial agents. In certain clinical situations and indications, it is advisable to use ophthalmic antiseptics and combined preparations containing several antibiotics of different effects at once, or an antibiotic and a corticosteroid. Key words: infectious and inflammatory eye diseases, antibacterial agents, antibiotics, combined preparations, antiseptics.
