Product reviews co-written by many Internet reviewers can help consumers make purchase decisions and provide a basis for companies to improve their business strategies. For the company, the most important thing is to understand how the various factors of reviews influence the purchase intention. Therefore, we took this issue as the core and investigated the influence of eWOM on purchase intention based on helpfulness, credibility, information quality and professionalism. We adopted feature filtering algorithms and proposed an ensemble model to integrate these classification results to obtain the most accurate prediction. The empirical evaluation shows that the models based on the four importan aspects of reviews can effectively predict the degree of impact of reviews on purchase intention.

This article examines the role that mobile self-efficacy plays in the relationship between word of mouth and mobile product reviews. Using a mobile product review simulator, the authors demonstrate an inverted U-shape relationship where individuals prefer moderate information quality rather than either low or excessive information quality when assessing the trustworthiness of on-line reviews. Furthermore, mobile self-efficacy was shown to interact with information quality to increase trust and purchase intention.

This paper investigates the data analytics between consumer purchase decisions relative to the on-line reviews. The multi-attributes associated with purchase decisions are comprised of nationalism and consumer preference to be correlated with online reviews using big data analytics. By far, a small fraction of meaningful studies have sought to correlate nationalism and ethnocentrism with big data analytics to date. Globally accepted generic products are selected to expedite the process of data engineering. Two sets were arranged: passenger automobiles for transportation with an estimated $9 trillion global market and the smart phone, boosting its market size of approximately $5 billion. Both products provide minimized cultural, linguistic, gender, age, and/or custom barriers of entry for prospective digital consumers, thereby allowing relatively unrestricted engagement with online reviews and purchases. A series of hypothesis tests indicate that there is a positive correlation between nationalism and automobiles. As to smart cell phones, however, nationalism had nominal control factors. Multi-variate analytics were performed by using R and Tableau Public.

Purpose The purpose of this paper is to examine how quality dimensions in independently owned online brand communities influence purchase intentions via uncertainty reduction and the role of involvement. Design/methodology/approach This work validates the model and hypotheses through non-probabilistic sampling. The online questionnaire was made on the website of MySurvey and an invitation letter was posted to the forums. The respondents received the questionnaire items translated into Chinese. The final survey sample consisted of 235 respondents. Findings Empirical results confirm that as for independently owned online brand communities, their information quality and relationship quality are effective tools for influencing purchase intentions via uncertainty reduction. In addition, the authors demonstrate that involvement has a positively moderating influence on the relationship between uncertainty reduction and purchase intentions. Originality/value The current study moves beyond uncertainty reduction to demonstrate that information quality and relationship quality of forums influenced purchase intention via uncertainty reduction and the moderating variable such as involvement.

Online review platforms compete to attract and retain consumers and facilitate purchases. They invest in sophisticated algorithms that prioritize the order in which product reviews are presented, seeking to provide consumers with easy access to useful information about the ability of a product to meet a need. These algorithms collect and use review and consumer characteristics to provide different consumers with different sets of reviews, seeking to increase purchase intention and reduce returns. This study proposes a new type of factor: the congruence between the consumer and the reviewer. The authors develop a simulation-based experiment in which 281 subjects are categorized based on their travel style and socioeconomic status, then read two reviews: one that appears to be written by someone similar to them and one that appears written by someone different from them. Findings demonstrate relationships between purchase intention and both of the congruence variables, as well as disposition to trust and an interaction between uncertainty avoidance and socioeconomic status.

With the growing availability and popularity of Web-based opinion platforms, online product reviews are now an emerging market phenomenon that is playing an important role in consumer purchasing decisions. This study investigates the influence of electronic Word-of-Mouth (eWOM) on purchase intention in the virtual community. The authors conducted a 2x2x2x2 online experiment involving 261 subjects. The experiment results demonstrate that message number and positive messages in the virtual community can influence consumer purchase intention. Product price and the involvement moderate the effects of eWOM on purchase intention. However, negative messages are negatively related to purchase intentions. This finding offers potential for finding better ways for sellers or managers in a virtual community. Finally, the conclusion presents implications, limitations, and directions for future research.

The purpose of this study is to discover how electronic word of mouth engages users and encourages them to purchase. By proposing the concepts of electronic word of mouth as different ways to provide reciprocal experience, this study develops a model that explores the antecedents of electronic word of mouth and its role in explaining a consumer to purchase in social commerce. For this, this study surveys 352 consumers using social commerce in Korea and analyzes the data using AMOS 24. In the results, first, information quality, information credibility, needs of information, and attitude towards information increase consumer electronic word of mouth. Second, the consumer's electronic word of mouth increases their purchase intention. Finally, information quality and attitude towards information among the antecedents of consumer electronic word of mouth increase his or her purchase intention through his or her electronic word of mouth. The findings contribute to research on social commerce by paying scholarly attention to meaningful engagement characterized by electronic word of mouth.
