The causes of spinal curvature can be excessive and uneven carrying of weight on the back, spinal injuries, as well as being immobile for a long time can lead to atrophy of the back muscles. Modern diagnostic methods are very important, but not informative enough. To relieve pain syndrome, muscle spasm, therapeutic massage, acupressure, rubbing, acupuncture, compresses, mineral water, clay therapy, cupping massage are used. All this is widely used, however, unfortunately, there are no studies that explain at what stages of the pathology, which therapy should be preferred. Therefore, in the course of treatment of spinal deformities with traditional massage, research on the quality of life of patients before and after treatment is also needed.

Abstract Background and Objectives: The call light system is one of the major communication technologies that links the nursing home staff to the needs of the residents. By providing residents with the ability to request assistance, the system becomes an indispensable resource for patient-focused healthcare. However, there is little known about how the call light systems are being used in nursing homes and how the system contributes to the safety and the quality of care for seniors. Therefore, the aims of this study are to understand the nursing home staff experience while using the call light systems and to uncover the usability issues associated with the implemented systems. Method: A mix of 150 hours of hypothetic-deductive (unstructured) and 90 hours of standard-procedure (structured) observational study were conducted in four different nursing homes. The data collected includes insights into the nursing homes work system and the process of locating and responding to call lights. Results: The data shows that the highest alarm rate is before and after meal times. The nursing staff exceeded the allotted time set by administration 50% of the time. Additionally, the staff canceled 10% of the call lights and did not immediately assist residents due to high workloads. Further, the staff forgot to come back to assist residents over 3% of the time. Usability issues such as broken parts, lack of feedback, lack of prioritization, and low/no discriminability are contributing to the long response time. More than 8% of the time, residents notified the staff about call lights after they waited for a long time, as these residents were left unattended. Conclusion: Nursing homes that are still using old call light systems risk the continuation of usability issues that can affect performance of the staff and contribute to a decline in staff and resident outcomes. While the healthcare industry has been at the forefront of technological advancements and implementation, it is important to recognize the influence of technology in the quality of service delivery for the elderly population in nursing homes and to the nursing homes staff working conditions.

Purpose: The study aims to evaluate the effect of kinesiotape methodology on chronic pain syndrome in the lumbosacral region. Material and Methods: 42 participants with chronic low back pain were recruited and randomly divided into two groups – control (n=19) and experimental (n=23). Foreword and lateral tilt, Borg and Modified Merld’Aubigne Scale for pain were used for assessment before and after treatment. Roland-Morris Questionnaire was done to assess the quality of life before and three months after treatment. The participants received a specialized kinesitherapy program combined with kinesio tape daily for 15 days with a duration of 40 minutes per procedure. They all received a home kinesitherapy program. Data were analyzed using GraphPad prism 3.02. Results: 42 participants, including 20 women and 22 men, were examined. The mean age (X±SD) of the control group was 45±9.08years, and for experimental was49.13±8.3 years. Median values of the Borg pain scale were as follows: 7.53±0.84 before, and 6.05±0.78 after treatment for the control group and 7.39±0.99 and 4.61±0.78 for the experimental group. Merld’AubigneScaleshows before and after treatment for control group 4.26±065 and 3.12±0.49 respectively, while in experimental was 4.26±0.68 and 2.09±0.44 after treatment. The average of forwarding tilts measured before and after treatment was13.79±3.77cm and 10±3.6cm for the control group and 13.13±3.76 and 7.52±2.25 for the experimental group. Initially, the quality of life questionnaire shows 17.26±1.66 and three months later was 12±1.45 for the control group and 17.35±1.5 before, and descend to 9.00±1.04 for the experimental group. There were statistically significant differences before and after treatment (p <0.05). Conclusions: Treatment significantly reduces pain and muscle spasms after application and improves thefunctionality of the lumbar spine. Kinesiotape not only helps the reduction of pain symptoms in musculoskeletal pathologies but is also a valuable addition to the kinesitherapy procedures.

The use of disinfectants of some groups for a long time can lead to the formation of resistance of microorganisms. The quality of the measures depends on same factors, the main of which is the disinfectant. A promising direction is the use of new complex disinfectants with synergistic action. These disinfectants must be environmentall friendly. The purpose of using such drugs is to expand the range of antimicrobial activity and the ability to prevent the emergence of resistant microorganisms. The effects of these programs are increased through the introduction of a monitoring system and methods to control the sensitivity of pathogens to disinfectants used. The article presents the results of experimental research bactericidal activity of working solutions of detergent-disinfectant «Sandez» against isolates of microorganisms S. aureus, E. coli, S. enteritidis, P. vulgaris, P. aeruginosa, at exposure of 2, 5, 10 minutes. The results of a study on the comparative effectiveness of bactericidal activity of the most common detergents and disinfectants, relative to previously isolated bacterial pathogens from the working surfaces of duckweed (S. aureus, E. coli, S. enteritidis, P. vulgaris, P. aeruginosa) are presented. Also in the comparative aspect are the results of studies of bactericidal activity of detergents and disinfectants of both domestic and foreign production, which are widely used for wet and aerosol disinfection of poultry: «Viroshield», KILCO, Great Britain; «Virocid», CID LINES, NV / SA (Belgium); «Spectragen» SYNTHESIS ELEVAGE, France; «Vircon C» (Antec International), United Kingdom; «Sandez», Ukraine; «Biocontact», PE «Kronos Agro», Ukraine. The results of the study of the sanitary condition of poultry houses before and after disinfection in the presence of pathogenic microflora (S. aureus, E. coli, S. enteritidis, P. vulgaris, P. aeruginosa). Disinfection of poultry houses by «Sandez» provides bactericidal action on pathogenic microorganisms, and its efficiency is higher by 10.0% in comparison with control and makes 96%.

Endometriosis is a chronic disease that requires long-term treatment, the goal of which is effectively use drugs and avoids repeated surgical interventions. The quality of patients’ life depends on the varying degrees of symptoms such as pelvic pain, dyspareunia, dysmenorrhea. Endometriosis causes infertility and perinatal complications. The symptoms of endometriosis often affect psychological and social well-being, and threaten the relationships, sexuality and mental health of women. Women with endometriosis have high levels of anxiety, depression, and other psychiatric disorders that can aggravate the severity of their pain. The existing statistics on the endometriosis incidence is underestimated given the diagnostic difficulties. So far, there are no final, only generally an accepted method of treating endometriosis, and in most cases, treatment is only eliminates the symptoms. Today, it is desirable to take a conservative approach to treatment, avoiding surgery, and hormone therapy is recommended to relieve pain associated with endometriosis. An individual approach is important in the management of patients with endometriosis, taking into account the reproductive plans and needs of woman. Medical treatment methods should be used as much as possible, for example, dienogest 2 mg (in particular, Savis drug). Dienogest is a derivative of 19-nortestosterone, which has an antiproliferative effect on the endometriosis foci.Savis is a drug specially formulated for the endometriosis treatment. Savis may be prescribed to relieve symptoms before and after surgery to prevent relapse. The safety profile of dienogest has been studied and data is constantly accumulating, given the popularity of its prescription. The effectiveness of dienogest should be assessed primarily by its effect on pain and quality of life, on maintaining fertility, and on the possibility of avoiding or postponing surgery. This is important for various forms of endometriosis: endometriomas, extragenital endometriosis, adenomyosis.

Introduction Musculoskeletal pain is a common clinical condition and about 10% of the population have musculoskeletal disorder. Objective The aim of this study was to evaluate whether ischemic pressure and dry needling techniques are able to reduce the pain of patients with myofascial pain syndrome. Method 22 patients aged 20-75 years were randomized into 3 groups: ischemic pressure (IPG = 8), dry needling (DNG = 7) and control (CG = 7). Patients in the IPG and DNG were assessed before and after 10 intervention sessions, which occurred 3 times per week. The CG was assessed initially and reassessed three weeks later. The assessment of pain was done through Visual Analogic Scale (VAS) and quality of life through WHOQOL-BREF (5 domains: global, physical, psychological, social and environmental). Results There was no significant difference for clinical and demographic data of all groups at baseline, except for age (p = 0.042). The results of the VAS expressed that IPG had pain relief in most sessions, the same was not observed for DNG. Comparing the 2 groups was obtained difference in the 4th and 8th sessions. The results of the WHOQOL-BREF showed that the three groups had a significant increase in the psychological domain. The same was not true for global domains, physical, environmental and social. Conclusion Ischemic pressure and dry needling were able to reduce the pain of patients and also change their quality of life, specifically the psychological aspect.

Background. Degenerative diseases of the hip joints are accompanied not only by pain, but also by changes in the anatomical proportions of the joint. Hip replacement eliminates pain syndrome, in most patients the anatomical proportions of the joints are restored, but if the clinical outcome of arthroplasty can be assessed radiologically, the result of functional recovery is difficult to assess, especially in dynamics. Statographic research today is one of the main diagnostic methods to monitor the recovery of patients after orthopedic surgeries. Purpose: according to statographic studies to determine the parameters that reflect the functional ability of patients to maintain an upright posture and monitor their changes in the recovery process after hip replacement surgery. Materials and methods. We examined 50 patients with degenerative diseases of the hip joint before and after arthroplasty. Data from standard study protocols were analyzed. Results. Before the operation, the oscillation coefficient differs markedly from the norm for all types of stance. Six months after surgery, normalization of swing is observed at single and double leg stance on a healthy extremity, but for the prosthetic limb, the oscillation coefficient does not improve significantly. Before the operation in double leg stance, there was a shift of the center of mass towards a healthy limb, after 6 months the deviation is significantly reduced. At single leg stance, there is a noticeable shift of the body towards a healthy limb, which decreases after arthroplasty. After surgery, patients have a decrease in the deviation of the body backwards in all types of stance, as well as a decrease in the rotation of the body in single leg stance, the load on the operated limb increases. Conclusions. In patients with coxarthrosis, the support ability of the damaged limb is impaired, which is confirmed by the displacement of the center of mass towards a healthy limb, the load on the foot of the affected limb decreases, the ability to maintain balance is reduced in both double and leg single stance. Monitoring these parameters is a mean to control the restoration of the function of maintaining the balance in patients after hip arthroplasty.

All over the planet, potatoes are an important staple food crop. However, to maintain the quality of the tubers and increase their availability, it is necessary to store the tubers for a long time, often using industrial scale equipment. In this context, maintaining potato quality is critical for the seed, fresh and processing sectors. The industry has always innovated and invested in improved post-harvest storage. However, the rate of technological change is accelerating and will continue to accelerate. Stricter legislation and changing consumer attitudes are driving increased interest in creating alternative or complementary post-harvest treatments to traditional growth suppression and disease control chemicals. We are considering modern knowledge about the biochemical factors that determine the state of dormancy, as well as the influence of factors before and after harvest on ensuring the quality of potato tubers. In addition, the role of genomics as a future approach to improving potato quality is discussed. It is critical, thanks to more focused industry research, to understand how pre-harvest conditions affect tuber quality and the factors that determine the transition to dormancy, which should create the conditions for achieving sustainable storage.

Flood situation (August 2002) in small urban streams radically changed status of water ecosystem, which had been created naturally and anthropogenically for a long time. The aim of the after-flood research has been to record development of a creek recovery in positive as well as negative sense: recovery of benthic colonisation and reloading of contaminants (heavy metals) in bottom sediment. The Botic creek (its one section) was chosen as an experimental stream. This section of the creak is influenced by combine sewer system (two overflows – CSOs) as well as storm sewer system (one outlet – SSO). Heavy metals concentrations in water, sediment and body tissue of benthic organisms of the Botic creek and quality of benthic communities were monitored long term before flood. Comparison of results before and after flood can better assess impact of extreme water stage on a small stream.
