Rural Tourism versus Non-Rural Tourism: case studies in Roraima (Brazil) ABSTRACT The characteristics of the tourist destination, disclosure, comments and knowledge of local practicing rural tourism, have great influence on the awakening of the interest of tourists to know those properties that develop rural tourism. In addition to bringing benefits to making rural tourism source of income or to supplement the family income. The main objective is to evaluate the possible causes that prevent rural tourism development in the state of Roraima, based on the experience of companies participating in the project “Vivendo Roraima pelos Cavalos Lavradeiros” project that has been created to strengthen rural tourism in the state. In relation to the objectives it is descriptive. For data collection , there was literature and documentary research. Interviews were conducted with owners of properties that volunteered to participate in the study. It was found that of the ten properties that make up this project, which was the result of a partnership between the Department of Tourism SEPLAN (State Department of Planning and Development) of the State of Roraima, and SEBRAE -RR, six of them do not practice rural tourism. Among the reasons it was realized that are related to: lack of disclosure, lack of tourists and visitors on site, lack of incentives to owners, lack of incentives and government support and especially not the characterization of rural tourism in some properties that have as activity camping, showers, and one that only allows the visitor to know açai plantations marketing. Additionally, some properties that are not open to the public by some other reasons, which have not been properly clarified. We conclude that there is no consolidated rural tourism project to Roraima, which reflects little interest from government agencies and private enterprise. This fact inhibits the possibility of having more an emerging alternative development of the area, being able to be an important development for the regions. It is expected that this study will serve as a tool for identifying elements, such as the points to be improved in order to develop strategies to maximize way all these forces that rural tourism can provide in Roraima. Since the monarchy pattern of ruling the state to the republic era, one aspect is common i.e taxation. The revenue required for funding the public services and maintaining law and order, various types of taxes are imposed on citizens and organisations by the competent authority. In India, the taxation of income is the exclusive power of Central Government and The Income Tax Act 1961 is the governing Act for the taxation matter. The present paper is conceptual in nature. The author wants to propose a new scheme of taxation of family income. As per the authors proposal the combine income of the family will be charged to tax instead of charging individuals income separately. The authors has given the reference of few prevailing schemes to support his claim. Before writing the conclusion of the paper, the positive and negative aspects of the new proposal are also discussed. The idea behind the new proposal is to condense the disparity in disposal income of individual and family income.

The treatment, disposal and management of municipal solid waste strongly depend on the composition and characteristics of municipal solid waste. The Physical composition of MSW and its influencing factors were investigated and analyzed in the residential of Beijing area. The result showed that the composition of MSW in four seasons was similar, and the kitchen was the main composition of MSW, accounting for 69-74% of the total amount of MSW. The average age of families, educational backgrounds, family income and building area have a great influence on the physical proportion of MSW. As the average age of the family increases, the proportion of other wastes was gradually reduced, the proportion of the harmful waste was increased. With the increase of educational backgrounds and family income, the content of kitchen waste decreased, while the content of recyclable waste increased obviously. The 50 square meters was used as a dividing point for the residential area of the family, the kitchen waste decreased at first and then increased, while the proportion of disposable packaging and other waste increases at first and then decreases with the increase of building area.

This paper provides a feminist critique of theories of liberty in two of Thomas Middleton’s city tragedies. Expanding on the neo-Roman theories of liberty presented by Quentin Skinner in Liberty Before Liberalism, I connect Middleton’s city tragedies to feminist critiques from Mary Nyquist and Ellen Mieksins Wood. Close readings of Women Beware Women and The Revenger’s Tragedy reveal connections between Middleton’s radical critiques of tyranny in later theories of liberty of the English Civil War. Because Middleton’s critiques are explored through both the state and marriage relations, I argue that Middleton exposes the same contradictions of liberty in the institution of the family, providing insight into notions of slavery, servitude, and coercion under the public rule of the sovereign and in the privacy of the home. Reading such contradictions back through Middleton, can, I argue, allow for a better understanding of feminist critiques of such theories of liberty.

Millions of people across Turkey protested police violence, state totalitarianism, urban gentrification, and a host of other concerns during the Gezi Park protests in late May 2013. The protests merged with Gay Pride Istanbul and fundamentally changed queer and trans peoples’ relationships with the Turkish public. This chapter establishes “the queer common” as the sexualized lines of flight which destabilise the normal ways queers are governed – a concept for understanding queer resistance against the state. The chapter argues that the state and other institutions manipulate the public to assert one acceptable model of heteronormative belonging. This assemblage (which brings together the police, the family, Sunni Islam, media and other institutions) naturalises Turkish citizenship. The chapter draws on interviews with queer activists to explore queer resistance at Gezi, challenges to ‘normalised’ Turkish identity, and the renegotiation of the state’s production of violence against queer and trans people.

The encounter between Arab Islam and colonialism and modernity resulted in a revival of Arab Islamic intellectuals with an orientation to reinterpret the Islamic tradition. Qasim Amin as one of the Nahdah figures tries to reinterpret Islamic teachings and traditions, especially those related to women, by accommodating modern ideas and culture. Based on his criticism of the reality of the restriction and subordination of women in the public sphere, Amin tries to reinterpret women's education in Egypt by re-exploring the texts of the Koran and hadiths that talk about women's rights and obligations, the interpretations of the scholars of the two texts, the values and basic principles of Islamic shari'ah that underlie Islamic legislation, as well as sociological theories and liberal feminist thinking. According to Amin, women's education is very significant with three interests, namely society in the form of participation in various fields in the public sphere, the family in the form of the ability to be able to better protect their children, and the state in the form of producing offspring with good intellectual and moral qualities that have an impact on the progress of the country. The realm of education that must be accessed by women includes intellectual, moral, and physical education.

Anthropogenic pressure on the forest resources of the Brazilian Amazon, partly caused by illegal logging, has contributed to increase the list of endangered Brazilian flora species, as is the case of some representatives of the family Lecythidaceae. In this way, aiming to contribute to the control of the illegal cutting of the trees, the objective of this study was to identify and characterize samples of wood marketed as belonging to the “tauari” group, in order to provide support for species-level identification. Samples were obtained from 15 sawmills in 10 municipalities in the state of Pará in June and July 2016. The species identification was confirmed by comparison with standard samples from the wood collections of Museu Paraense Emílio Goeldi and Embrapa Amazônia Oriental. Three samples were identified as not belonging to the “tauari” group: Eschweilera sp. (matamatá-branco), Cedrela sp. (cedro) and Erisma uncinatum (cedrinho). The other 17 samples belonged to the “tauari” group with three distinct species: Couratari stellata, C. oblongifolia and C. guianensis. All species from Lecythidaceae family presented similarity in anatomical structure of wood, at macroscopic and microscopic level. The adoption of a single popular name by logging companies in the state of Pará to designate timber from the “tauari” group masks information about the diversity of species traded and compromises the end use of timber and the trust between buyer and seller.
