Numerous studies had conducted the use of mind mapping as a technique in teaching and learning English, but relatively few of these studies focused on the effectiveness and students’ perceptions of mind mapping technique in learning tenses on elementary level in a non-formal education institution. This study aimed to investigate the effectiveness of mind mapping technique in learning present tenses and students’ perceptions toward this technique on elementary level students of the English program. 30 students of the English program on elementary level at Aliah Education and Training Institute Makassar took part in the study. Data were collected through pre-test, post-test, observation, questionnaire, and interview and thus used to analyze the results quantitatively and qualitatively using preliminary studies, general mean scores, and percentages of students‘ improvement score. Results of the study showed that the students were really enthusiastic to learn with this technique and the atmosphere of the classroom was more enjoyable. In addition, the students’ ability in using tenses was improved after implementing this technique. In the pre-test, the general mean score of the students was 42.33 and classified as Very Poor. While, the general mean score of the students was 78.92 and classified as Good in the post-test. The students‘ improvement score was increased up to 86.44%. It revealed that mind mapping technique is effective in learning tenses. However, it is suggested that further studies can be conducted with larger data to make it more accurate and applicable.

Background: Mind maps are highly effective visual aids that enable students to group together different ideas and enable teachers to present ideas visually and assess their students’ conceptual development and understanding. The present study was to assess effectiveness of mind mapping technique vs lecture method regarding psychological test on knowledge among nursing students at St. James College of Nursing Chalakudy. The study included 50 first year B.Sc. nursing students, 25 in lecture group and 25 in mind mapping group. Materials and methods: A Quasi-experimental non randomized control group design was adopted and nonprobability convenient sampling technique was used to select the samples. Structured teaching programme regarding psychological test was administered on both group and knowledge level of the students was evaluated immediately after the teaching (‘0 day’) and 7th day to assess the retention of knowledge. Data collected by using structured questionnaire and analysed by using descriptive and inferential statistics.   Results:The study revealed that the mean post test knowledge score of students on ’0’day in mind mapping group is (13.52) higher than the lecture group (9). The calculated t value (7.66) is higher than the table value (6.06) at 0.05 level of significance. The mean of the post test knowledge of students on 7th day by using mind map score is 13.32, it is higher than mean of the lecture method knowledge score (8.80). The calculated t value is (7.92) is greater than the table value (2.60) at 0.05 level of significance. Conclusion: There for it can be concluded that the mind mapping teaching method is very effective than lecture method among the nursing student on psychological test. The study shows that mind mapping technique help the student to learn, recall, organize and make information meaningful. So they can perform and get good result in examination by using mind mapping technique.

This study aims to determine how the effect of the Quantum Learning model using Mind Mapping techniques to students' creative thinking abilities. The type of research used is experiment and quantitative approach with research design using posttest only group design. Data analysis of two groups used the t-test on SPSS 21, that is Independent Sample t-Test to test the difference in average posttest value of two samples. The results of this study are (1) results of the t-test  from post-test data obtain a significance 0,000 where it is lower than 0.05 so can be said that the average of the two groups are different, (2) from the post-test results, the answers given by students from the experimental group more fulfilled the indicators of creative thinking than students from the control group.

AbstractThe objective of this research was to improve the eleventh graders’ recount text writing skill. To attain the objective a two-cycled classroom action research was conducted in SMA PSKD 7 Depok. The 28 students of the eleventh graders who participated in this research were taught recount text through mind mapping technique. The quantitative data, collected using tests, were analyzed by using statistical analysis technique. The qualitative data, collected using observation sheets and interview guide, were analyzed by using descriptive analysis technique. The results indicated that the mind mapping technique improved the eleventh graders’ recount text writing skill, as shown by the increase of the mean scores of the tests conducted, i.e. 52,61 (in the pretest) to 70.61 ( post-test of cycle 1) to 80.29 (post-test of cycle 2). Based on the findings, it could be concluded that through implementation of mind mapping technique, students’ recount text writing skill could improve. This research investigates the effectiveness of mind mapping implementation in storytelling to improve students' speaking skills.  This research was framed as an experimental method in which tests and interviews are used to analyze the data. The test consisted of pre-test and post-test, while the structured interview is used to find out students' perspectives toward using mind mapping in storytelling. The finding suggests a significant difference between students' speaking skills in retelling stories using mind mapping and without mind mapping. This difference could be seen from the distribution of the t-score, which is higher than the t-table. T-score is 6. 8, and the t-table is 1.7. The research also suggests that the students considered the mind mapping technique an excellent and effective technique applied in storytelling to improve their speaking performance. Based on the result, the application of the Mind Mapping Technique in storytelling in teaching speaking skills can be one of effective ways to improve the student's speaking performance.

The current study aims to investigate the effect of using Mind Mapping technique on University students' achievement in English drama. The aim of the study is supposed to be achieved through verifying its hypotheses. The sample of the study consists of sixty EFL university students who are distributed equally into two groups, i.e. experimental and control groups. The experimental group has been taught the English drama ''Hamlet'' by using Mind Mapping technique while the control group has been taught the same material by using the traditional method. A posttest has been conducted and applied to the two groups. The required data are collected and analyzed statistically. The obtained results show that the mean scores of students' performance of the experimental group in the post test is better than that of the control group. This means that the investigated technique has a positive effect on university students' performance in English drama.
