The water quality of the Szarvas-Békésszentandrás Dead Körös is generally meso-eutrophic, and meso-saprobic. However, particularlyunder higher temperature conditions, the water body may change toward the eutrophic state, even algal blooms could be observedpreviously. The present measurements were conducted during a two week period, twice a day. Three water samples were taken horizontally, fromthe surface, bottom and the middle of the water body. The samples were examined in situ. The oxygen content, the temperature, the pH andthe conductivity were measured by potentiometric methods.Increasing pH was detected in correlation to the temperature, which indicated a rising photosynthetic activity. Also, the O2concentration showed high variations, especially, when the fresh water supply from the river was stopped, due to a small flood in the riverKörös.These results indicate the increasing eutrophication processes in the deadarm, and the high load and instability of the ecosystem.

To improve the water quality of Lake Yuehu, a water diversion from the Han River was conducted in July 2008. However, an unexpected Microcystis bloom occurred in the lake after water introduction. Water and sediment samples were collected from Lake Yuehu and the variation of chemical and biochemical parameters, as well as the phytoplankton community, were analyzed during the water diversion to assess its effect and to clarify the mechanism leading to the Microcystis bloom. The nitrogen (N) concentration was increased and phosphorus (P) concentration decreased in Lake Yuehu after receiving water from the Han River, which had a high loading of N and a low loading of P. These conditions may benefit the growth and dominance of non-N2 fixing Microcystis, as it may not have suffered from P limitation during our study because it did not produce extracellular phosphatase, which worked as an indicator of P deficiency, as evidenced by the in situ enzyme-labelled fluorescence. Notably, the sediment Fe (OOH)~P content significantly decreased in Lake Yuehu; this pulsed release of P from the sediment might have sustained the Microcystis bloom. Based on our results, algal blooms may occur as a consequence of conducting water diversion projects to improve water quality.

Aims: The aim of this work is to know the interrelationships of the physicochemical parameters likely to explain algal blooms and to identify the potential structures of molecules that can be secreted in an Ivorian lagoon environment: the Ebrié lagoon. Methodology: Nine stations, selected according to natural influences and anthropogenic pressure, were subject to physicochemical monitoring. It consisted of in situ measurements (temperature, salinity, dissolved oxygen, electrical conductivity) and chemical analyses in the laboratory (pH, nitrates, nitrites). In addition to these measurements, observations were noted in the field, namely the climatology of the day, the colour and smell of the water, the presence of algae (micro and / or macroalgae). Results: Our results showed that the waters of the Ebrié lagoon are warm (T > 25 °C), with a pH between 6 and 9 and variable salinity. Salinity would be a discriminating factor for the presence of macroalgae. The nutrients levels (nitrates and nitrites) remain within the limits of acceptability. Conclusion: The waters in our study area are favorable for algal blooms. Given the nuisances associated with algal blooms, the study proposes some structures of toxins which can be secreted on the basis of a literature review.

This paper shows the results obtained in field analysis performed at the Tamis River, starting from the settlement Jasa Tomic - border between Serbia and Romania to Pancevo - confluence of Tamis into the Danube. The Tamis is a 359 km long river rising in the southern Carpathian Mountains. It flows through the Banat region and flows into the Danube near Pancevo. During the years the water quality of the river has severely deteriorated and badly affected the environment and the river ecosystem. In situ measurements enabled determination of physico-chemical parameters of water quality of the Tamis River on every 400 m of the watercourse, such as: water temperature, pH value, electrical conductivity, contents of dissolved oxygen and oxygen saturation. The main reason of higher pollution of Tamis is seen in connection to DTD hydro system. Sampling was performed at 7 points with regard to color, turbidity, total hardness, alkalinity, concentration of ammonium nitrogen, nitrite nitrogen, nitrate nitrogen, iron, chlorides and sulphates in samples. The aim of the present work was to evaluate water quality in the Tamis River taking into account significant pollution, which originates from settlements, industry and agriculture, and to suggest appropriate preventive measures to further pollution decreasing of the river's water.

The lack of clean water distribution by local water service (PDAM) of Palangka Raya city is the major reason for people around the final processing site/landfill (Tempat Pemrosesan Akhir) at Km 14 to use groundwater for their daily life. The landfill may cause pollution over groundwater known as leachate, which commonly unnoticed by its users. This study aims at assessing the quality of groundwater in that area. The groundwater was taken at different distances from the site in three rainless-days. The physical, chemical and biology parameters of groundwater are observed in the field (in situ) and analyzed in the laboratory, refers to water quality standard of Class I, according to Government Regulation No. 82 of 2001 and Minister of Health Regulation No. 32 of 2017. Public opinion on that issue is cached through interview. The results showed that the groundwater around the landfill in three rainless-days was harmless to be consumed as drinking water, and did not exceed the water quality standards stipulated by government in term of odorless, tasteless, and colorless. Some indicators also show that the groundwater meets the specified quality standards, i.e. TDS (17-68.14 mg/L), DHL (17,15-69.39 ?s), turbidity (0.11-2.50 mg/L), iron (0.227-0.71 mg/L), manganese (<0.0123-0.02 mg/L), coliform (<1.8-280 MPN/100 ml), while Pb and H2S were not detected. From community side, there are no any health complaints arise as long as they use the water.

Study in order to know distribution of pollution source and its effect on water quality of the middle and down stream of Musi River was conducted in April and June 2007 and January 2008. Fourteen sampling sites were selected based on the pollution source and the minimal degradation site (reference sites). Parameters observed were pollution source distribution and water and sediment parameters such as physical and chemical parameters. Water sample was collected at 0.5 m from water surface by using Kemmerer water sampler while sediment samples were taken by using Ekman grab. Some of the parameters were analyzed in situ while the rest were analyzed in laboratory. Results indicated that oil palm and rubber industries were mostly the pollution source in Musi River. Potential pollution source was mostly found in the middle and down stream of Musi River since most of pollution source and high water utilization found in this area. Water quality parameters except total suspended solid and biochemical oxygen demand, were still in the range that can be tolerated by the aquatic organisms. Rain fall tends to decrease water quality of the river. Concentration of heavy metal such as Chrom (Cr+6) and plumbum in the sediment were in still in low concentration with the highest concentration reaching 13.481 and 1.747 μg per g respectively.

Estuarine of Kedungmalang has salinity variability and is assumed to bepolluted by cadmium (Cd) derived from human activities around Kedung region. In this study, bioaccumulation of Cd by white shrimp Penaeus merguienis in relation with salinity difference was determined. Sampling was conducted at four stations : estuary (15‰ and 25‰ of salinity) and husbandry area (15‰ and 25‰ of salinity). Data on in situ water quality parameters was obtained at each station. Absorption Atomic Spectrometer was used to measure Cd concentration. The water quality of parameters and the concentrations of Cd in the shrimp were compared with quality standards and weekly consumption limit of white shrimps is also suggested. The Cd concentrations on the white shrimp was found the highest concentration of 0.669 μg.g-1 . The limit comsumption of the white shrimp of Estuarine of Kedungmalang, suggested by the resut of this study, is about 523-1537 grams per week.

Upgrading of the national standardization system creates favorable conditions for support and normal promotion of integrated environmental standards as a toolbox for control of the process of minimization of adverse impacts with their concurrent accounting and possible redistribution among the environment elements, i.e. air, water bodies, and soils. In the Russian practice of environmental protection there is no any objective toolbox for comprehensive assessment of the current activities’ negative impact. In outlook adoption of the negative impact minimization mechanism is most probable through the many-year benchmarking with European expertise based on the revealing of cause-eff ect relations in terms of «relative improvement of technique against the attained quality of environment (objectives)». Water bodies are subjected both to direct and indirect negative impact. There is no one method for assessment of water bodies’ environmental safety as a basis for adoption of adequate solutions in water sector. The developed standards on the basis of water/economic activities without considerable emissions to air and to soils propose a toolbox to secure uniform quantitative assessment both the techniques negative impact through assessment of their waste water quality and assessment of water quality of the receiving water body. The developed toolbox provides detection of the «negative impact – water body water quality» causeeffect relations. Integrated criteria proposed in the standards provide ranking and classifying of negative impact objects, detection and identification of the national water/economic best available techniques, implementation of the combined approach in the process of adoption of integrated environmental permissions.

Healthy coral reefs depends on the quality of the waters , so that research and monitoring of water quality becomes important. This research attempt to asses marine waters quality at kaledupa island and it’ s surrounding waters on October and November 2014. 33 In-situ samples were collected using multiparameters tool purposively which are categorized into  physical parameters (temperature, turbidity and clarity), and chemical parameters (DO, salinity and pH). Waters quality defined by STORET method based on Ministry of Living Environment decree number 115 year of 2003. Analysis geographically has been conducted to describe distribution of waters quality spatially. The result shows that Kaledupa waters has sustain slightly pollution, especially on DO, turbidity, temperature and salinity parameters which have deviated from standard values. The light pollution in Kaledupa waters is suspected caused by the entry of abundance organic matter and shallow bathymetry.
