The success of manufacturing companies managing employee productivity will determine the company's continuity in maintaining its position in the manufacturing industry. This study aims to determine the effect of compensation, work discipline and intrinsic motivation on employee productivity of the stamping department of PT MXX, which is one of the major companies in the motor vehicle processing industry in Indonesia. Using saturated sampling techniques, the total population in this study was 118 employees. The analytical method used is multiple linear regression. The results of this study indicate that only compensation that affects employee productivity, work discipline and intrinsic motivation does not affect the productivity of PT MXX employees which may be caused by the characteristics of the work characteristics of the stamping department and the characteristics of the population dominated by male sex employees with young adults who emphasize the meaning the importance of the compensation they receive as a result of their work productivity

AbstractThis study aims to analyze the influence of motivation, supervision, and work culture either partially or simultaneously on employee productivity. Total population is 114 employees at the production division of aluminum casting company “SP“ Yogyakarta. By using the method of Isaac and Micheal, with a 5 % error level, sample size is 86. The sampling method used disproportionate stratified random sampling, which is a technique used to determine the number of samples when stratified population less than the proportion required. Data was analyzed using multiple regression analysis and the result states that even there is no motivation, supervision, and work culture, the employee still obtain work productivity of 7,153. All regression coefficients are positive, which mean that three variables have positive effect on labor productivity . Furthermore, it is indicated that partially, motivation and supervision do nothave any influence on employee productivity, but work culture variable does. Based on F test, variables ofmotivation,  supervision, andwork culture, simultaneously have influenced thelaborproductivity. The research also shows that 53.2% influencesof labor productivitycan be explainedbythe variables of motivation, supervision, andwork culture, while the remaining0f 46.8% is contributedbyother variablesthatis notincluded inthisstudy.

Purpose: The purpose of this study was to investigate challenges of import logistics outsourcing by manufacturing firms in Nairobi CountyMethodology: The research design of this study was a sample survey of the importers in the manufacturing industry as per the Kenya Association of Manufacturers. The total population of the companies in the manufacturing industry in Nairobi was 455 manufacturing firms. Primary data was collected via self-administered questionnaires with both open ended and closed questions that were designed to elicit specific responses for qualitative and quantitative analysis respectively. The data was analyzed by use of descriptive statistics. Results: The results indicated that the important reasons of outsourcing were satisfactory in explaining the decision by manufacturing companies to outsource. The reasons of outsourcing are a key determinant in deciding to outsource import logistics. The extent of challenges the importers face when importing services also determined the decision to outsource in the firms.Unique contribution to theory, practice and policy: The study recommends that the manufacturing firms should put more focus on core business functions and ensure reduction of overhead costs. They should take advantage of external expertise and experience and put measures to improve internal capabilities and expertise. The firms should reduce the total overall costs and where third party logistics providers provide a better service contract them. They should also emphasize on improved customer focus put measures to enable them compete effectively in the market.

This is allegedly caused by the level of employee education that has not been in accordance with the function of office, in addition to the competence of employees who have not been in accordance with the field of work. This study aims to determine the influence of education level and competence on employee productivity. The sample used is 22 employees. Data collection techniques with questionnaires, documentation and observation. Data analysis with qualitative and quantitative analysis methods with the help of statistical tools SPSS application for linear regression model calculation. The results showed that the level of education has a positive influence on the productivity of employees of PT. Traktor Nusantara. The amount of influence of education level variable to productivity based on test of determination is equal to 38,1%. Competence influence on work productivity of employees of PT. Traktor Nusantara with contribution of 19.1%. The level of education and competence together have a positive influence and able to explain 38.2% of the changes in work productivity, while the remaining 4.7% sebesat is another variable outside the study.

This study aims to determine the determination of the cost of production for products produced by PT. DWA. The Company is engaged in the manufacturing industry specialized in automotive components. Its activity is carried out through a series of production processes, so that expenses spent in the production will be calculated into the cost of the production sold. The population in this study were all manufacturing companies in Jakarta. Convenience sampling method selected one of the companies that get the confidence to assemble three national car project in Indonesia, namely Timor, Bakrie and Maleo. Test analysis used in this study is to test the calculation of full costing with job order costing. This study shows that (a) determination of the cost elements associated with the cost of production and (b) determining the cost of production on a product-based job costing with full costing approach. Keywords: cost of production, full costing

Purpose The purpose of this paper is to examine the perception of university staff and students in implementing flexible working arrangements (FWA) to increase space efficiency, lower overheads and improve productivity at the Namibia University of Science and Technology. Design/methodology/approach Data was collected using questionnaires, interviews and document searches. A total of 253 university staff (academic and support) and students were surveyed to solicit their perceptions on the extent to which FWA could be implemented to ensure space optimisation, minimise property related costs and improve employee productivity. Findings The study confirms that the successful implementation of FWA needs coordinated institutional policy to effectively support and cater to university staff’s different needs while meeting those of the university. Implementing FWA may reduce demand on utilities resulting in lower overheads for the institution. Based on the findings, the study is inconclusive on whether FWA improves or reduces staff productivity. Practical implications In the era of austerity measures in institutions of higher education (IHE), with rapid advances in communication information technologies, FWA are not only a possibility but inevitable to ensure optimal use of space, lower operating costs and improved work productivity. This study provides a cursory understanding of the possibility to implementing FWA in higher education. Originality/value This study contributes to the FWA body of knowledge from the perspective of both academic, non-academic staff and students in IHE.

PurposeThe purpose of this paper is to analyse the impact on manufacturing performance of human resource management (HRM) practices across two job levels within manufacturing firms in Argentina and Uruguay: that of line managers and frontline workers. HRM practices are categorised into three bundles defined by the AMO theoretical framework: ability, motivation and opportunity.Design/methodology/approachThe article uses data from a survey to 301 manufacturing plants in Uruguay and Argentina. Given the characteristics of the dependent variable, linear regression models have been estimated in order to test the hypotheses.FindingsThe results show that the ability and opportunity bundles for line managers are positively associated with manufacturing performance. However, only the motivation bundle affects manufacturing performance for frontline workers.Research limitations/implicationsThe main limitations are the use of cross-sectional data, the focus on two specific countries and the analysis of two employee categories that are not completely homogenous. The paper extends the contingency perspective in HRM by examining the relevance of job level as a contingent factor in the HRM-performance relationship in the manufacturing industry.Practical implicationsThe results suggest that manufacturing companies should target HR investments more towards line managers than to frontline employees. More specifically, they should concentrate efforts on the ability and opportunity bundles.Originality/valueThe article contributes to the very limited empirical evidence on the impact of HRM differentiation on firm performance by analysing sub-dimensions in a context not previously analysed.
