scholarly journals The impact of introducing fitness themes in the physical education lesson on adolescent girls

The influence of physical development on adolescent girls place physical education and sport at the core of functional somatic and motor harmonisation, but also turns them into defining factors for a healthy lifestyle. Our research aims to find solutions for one of the desiderata of physical education, namely developing bio-psychomotor skills and building the ability to act and maintain a positive psychophysical tone in adolescent girls. In this regard, motor programmes were developed using the means of fitness, which were introduced in the physical education lesson. The research was carried out in the 2019-2020 school year at the “Grigore Moisil” National College in Bucharest. The groups participating in the experiment are made up of 40 girl students in the 10th grade (aged 15-16 years). The study was conducted over 8 weeks during 16 physical education lessons. The research subjects were assessed by initial and final tests. Following the motor programme performed using the means of fitness, the motor ability of the experimental group has improved, which is supported by significant statistical evidence for all 6 tests: push-ups, sit-ups, trunk extension from the prone position, standing long jump, 50-m speed run with a standing start, 800-m endurance run. The training programme applied to the experimental group had higher efficiency than the traditional training programme commonly used in the physical education lesson.

The purpose of this study was to implement a comprehensive teaching program based on the principles of Teaching Games for Understanding (TGfU) model and questioning, and to assess its consequences for students’ satisfaction of basic psychological needs, motivation, perceptions of ability and intention to be physically active during Physical Education lessons in primary education. A quasi-experimental design was utilized. Participants were 111 students from two different groups of fifth and sixth graders, all enrolled in one primary school. Participants were divided into experimental and control group. Experimental group experienced a TGfU unit, according to small side games and the questioning. Control group experienced a small side games unit, without questioning. Within-group results showed that experimental group students reported significantly higher mean scores in all dependents variables of the study, in both genders. Results showed that control group only reported significantly higher mean scores in intention to be physically active variable, also in both genders. The results demonstrate the need to implement didactic units under comprehensive pedagogical approaches to improve motivation and the intention to develop healthy lifestyle habits in female and male students. More researches are needed to support this evidence.

This study aimed to investigate the impact of a brain-based learning training programme on improving the spatial abilities of a sample of ninth grade elementary school students in Karak Province, Jordan. The study approach is quasi-experimental, the research sample consisted of 60 students selected by the intentional method. After being divided into two groups, 30 students were in the control group and 30 students were in the experimental group. To achieve the objectives of the study, a training programme based on brain-based learning was developed. Seven tests which consisted of spatial perception, spatial visualisation, and spatial orientation were used to measure spatial capacity and its components. The results showed that the training programme improved spatial ability and its three components in the experimental group compared to the control group.   Received: 29 March 2021 / Accepted: 5 July 2021 / Published: 5 September 2021

They will allow you to capture data from various sensors, display indicators on a color display, store information in cloud storage. The result of such devices will be a bio-journal with data on the state of physical fitness of a particular student. The device measures body temperature, heart rate, blood pressure, oxygen content, monitors sleep phases and stress levels, and has a fairly wide range of functionality: speedometer, altimeter, pedometer, calorie counter. Therefore, there is a question in the development and implementation of a system of control and evaluation of physical activity, which would meet the modern requirements of the educational process and have an effective impact on improving the status of physical education and attracting young people to exercise.

Objective. The aim of the present study was to establish the changes in psychosocial adjustment of adolescent girls in the modified lessons of physical education. Material and Methods. An experimental design was used in the study. The experimental group included 14- to 15-year-old adolescent girls (n=128), and the control group comprised adolescent girls of the same school and the same age (n=137). The girls of the experimental group participated in modified physical education lessons. Once a month, they had a theory class where they received knowledge on communication disorders among adolescents and ways of preventing them by means of physical activities. In practical classes, the girls of the experimental group had sports games (basketball, volleyball, and football), enhancing physical abilities, and Pilates exercises. For the estimation of the level of adolescents’ psychosocial adjustment and its components (self-esteem and domination), an adapted questionnaire developed by Rogers and Dymond was applied. An adapted questionnaire developed by Huebner was administered to measure students’ satisfaction with life. Results. The analysis of the data demonstrated that when comparing the psychosocial adjustment of the adolescent girls in the experimental group before and after the experiment, a significant differences in the score of the psychosocial adjustment scale was established (53.81±8.34 vs. 59.41±7.66, P<0.05). After the experiment, high life satisfaction was reported by 42.19% of the girls (P<0.05). Conclusions. After the educational experiment, the index of the psychosocial adjustment scale in the experimental group improved statistically significantly.

Healthy lifestyle knowledge becomes a foundation that should be owned by elementary school students to improve their life wellbeing level in the future. This research aimed to find out the impact of Physical Education learning on the healthy life style knowledge of elementary school students. The research used an ex-post facto descriptive method on the population consisting of 112 grade six students of elementary public schools in Cimahi City. The samples of the study were 78 elementary students chosen through a convenience sampling technique. The instrument used was The Clean and Healthy Behavior Scale (TCHBS) with the reliability p=0.87. The data analysis used a descriptive percentage and one sample t-test on the SPSS 19.0 program. The result shows that the Physical Education instruction significantly affects the healthy life style knowledge of elementary school students, mostly on the student knowledge of dietary habit and physical activity.  The healthy lifestyle knowledge of elementary school students was not merely the responsibility of Physical Education teachers, but also their parents and surroundings. A further research is needed to examine the effectiveness of Physical Education program related to the school support and gender in improving knowledge as well as to implement the healthy lifestyle of the students.
