This study aimed to analyze the effect of commercial feed combination with water spinach leaves (Ipomoea aquatica) at different ratios on the growth of common carp (Cyprinus carpio). This research was conducted for 35 days, located in Seteluk Atas Village, Seteluk District, West Sumbawa Regency. The common carp seeds used were 5-7 cm in size from one brood. The container used was 16 liter in size with a density of 10 fish / treatment. The method used in this study was an experimental method using a completely randomized design (CRD) with five treatments and three replications, namely, P1: 100% commercial feed (control), P2: commercial feed + water spinach leaves (1+1), P3: commercial feed + water spinach leaves (1+2), P4: commercial feed + water spinach leaves (1+3), P5: 100% water spinach leaves. The data obtained were then calculated and analyzed by using analysis of variance (ANOVA). The results of this study indicated that the use of commercial feed combination with water spinach leaves can affect growth, feed efficiency and feed conversion of common carp but did not affect the survival of common carp. Provision of 100% commercial feed (P1) and combination of commercial feed with water spinach leaves at a ratio of 1:2 (P3) had the same effect in increasing the growth of common carp, namely 1.17 g and 1.11 g, respectively.

The aim of this study was to evaluate the efficiency of feeds with the addition of various algae and cyanobacteria. Common carp (average body mass of 19.6 ± 3.49 g) were randomly divided into 4 groups and fed a commercial feed (control group), the same commercial feed with the addition of 10 % of dry green algae of the genus Chlorella (chlorella group), dry biomass of algae from waste water treatment (algae group), and lyophilized toxic cyanobacterial biomass of the genus Microcystis (microcystis group). After 29 days of the experiment, standard indices for the assessment of feed utilization, external characteristics, fish condition, chemical composition of muscles and composition of fatty acids were measured. The feed variants with the addition of green algae (chlorella and algae groups) appeared to be nutritionally more favorable in our experiment. A higher content of PUFAs and total amount of fats (expressed in units of weight) were found in the groups of fish fed the green algae and algae from waste water treatment supplemented feed.

AbstractThis study evaluated the effects of grape seed extract (GSE) on the growth performance, immune response, and disease resistance of common carp (Cyprinus carpio). Fish were distributed in four groups and fed diets with varying levels of GSE at 0, 10, 20, and 30 g/kg for 56 days. The final length in fish fed with 20 and 30 g GSE/kg diet significantly increased in comparison with the control group (P<0.05). The final weight and weight gain of fish fed with GSE were statistically higher than the control diet, while the feed conversion ratio was lower in GSE groups than the control. Hematological parameters did not statistically enhance with GSE supplemented diets (P>0.05). However, fish fed with 30 g GSE/kg diet displayed a higher WBC count significantly than the other group (P<0.05). The serum total protein and globulin in fish fed with 20 g GSE/kg diet significantly increased compared to the control (P<0.05). A similar pattern was noticed in results for serum and mucus lysozyme activity with a significant increase in fish fed with 20 and 30 g GSE/kg diet compared to the control (P<0.05). Total antibody levels in serum and mucus samples were also increased in fish by dietary GSE with maximum levels by 20 and 30 g GSE/kg diet. Besides, mucus protease activity was higher in fish received 20 and 30 g GSE/kg diet with maximum level shown in fish fed with 30 g GSE/kg diet compared to the control group (P<0.05). Meanwhile, all groups showed higher mucus antibacterial activity against Aeromonas hydrophila with the highest activity in 30 g GSE/kg diet in comparison with the control group. The cumulative mortality was 36.67% when fish fed with 30 g GSE/kg diet and challenged with A. hydrophila. However, the mortality rate was 40% and 53.33% in fish fed 20 and 30 g GSE/kg diet, respectively. This study suggests that supplementation of GSE could significantly enhance the growth performance, immune responses, and disease resistance against A. hydrophila in common carp.

Title (Bahasa Indonesia): Uji fisik pakan lobster air tawar, Cherax quadricarinatus, yang menggunakan beberapa bahan perekat The objective of this study was to evaluate the physical parameters of feed for freshwater crayfish (Cherax quadricarinatus) using different glutens. This study used a completely randomized design with four treatments and three replications. Treatment A was feed with starch gluten, treatment B was feed with sago gluten, treatment C was feed with seaweed gluten and treatment D was a commercial feed (control). ANOVA showed that the treatments gave a significant effect (P <0.05) on the breaking rate in the water, sinking speed, homogeneity, and hardness. The results showed that feed using seaweed gluten is very good to use. Feed with starch gluten was also better than feed of sago gluten. However, for sinking speed, control diet and starch gluten-based feed were faster than that of seaweed gluten. The result for water quality analysis including temperature, pH, DO and ammonia during the study showed tolerable ranges for freshwater crayfish.

Abstract The growth performance, nutrient utilization and health status of Cyprinus carpio fed various levels of Moringa oleifera leaf meal as a replacement for soybean meal was investigated. Six isonitrogenous diets were formulated with Moringa oleifera leaf meal at 0%, 10%, 20%, 30%, 40% or 50% crude protein replacement. The diets were fed to the fish at 5% body weight to 360 Cyprinus carpio juveniles (8.12±0.21 g) allotted to 18 happas (1 m3) in a completely randomized design for 12 weeks. The results revealed that crude protein replacement levels of 30% had significantly better final weight, weight gain, specific growth rate, protein efficiency ratio and feed conversion ratio, while survival rates were not significantly different. Also, haematological, biochemical and immune responses of the fish fed Moringa oleifera leaf meal fortified diets were significantly improved. The results further suggest that higher inclusion replacement is possible but opined that, for growth and economic consideration, Moringa oleifera leaf meal could be used to replace 30% crude protein of soybean in the diet of Cyprinus carpio juveniles.

The problem that often arises in tilapia cultivation is the low growth of fish caused by the provision of feed that contains high energy but cannot be digested by fish. Utilization of commercial feed as feed for tilapia growth is less effective because the feed is still complex so it requires energy to be broken down into more simple. The method used in this study was a completely randomized design (CRD) which was then analyzed using one way ANOVA variance. The best results were obtained in treatment 4 with an absolute weight value of 2.97, absolute length of 1.19, specific growth rate of 2.75, survival of 83.33% and feed conversion of 0.95%. The conclusion of this study is the treatment of 4 absolute weight of 2.97 g and absolute length of 1.19 cm.

AbstractIn this study, the effect of artemisia (Artemisia annua) leaves extract (ALE) on the immune system, growth performance and antioxidant capacity of common carp (Cyprinus carpio) was investigated. Fish with initial weight (90.32 ± 1.12 g) were fed various levels of ALE (0, 0.5, 1 and 1.5 g/kg) for 8 weeks. The results showed that the growth performance (FW, WG, SGR, PER, and LER) in fish fed 1 g/kg ALE was increased significantly (P<0.05) and the feed conversion ratio (FCR) was improved in fish fed 1 and 1.5 g/kg ALE in comparison to the control group (P<0.05). Skin mucus total protein was higher in fish fed diet containing 0.5 g/kg ALE than the other experimental groups (P<0.05), while the lysozyme, immunoglobulin and protease was increased by increasing of ALE in diets. Respiratory burst activity and serum immune parameters were higher in fish fed 0.5 g/kg ALE than the other treatments (P<0.05). Increasing of catalase (CAT) and decreasing of malondialdehyde (MDA) were observed in fish fed ALE, while glutathione peroxidase (GPx) increased only in fish fed 0.5 g/kg ALE. Hence, it can be concluded that ALE has considerable potential as a natural immunostimulant and growth promotor supplement for the common carp’s aquaculture.
