Islamic banks are banks whose activities leave usury problems. While usury is meant is excess property in a muamalah with no compensation. The mechanism of interest-free Islamic banking / usury based on philosophical and practical reasons. The principle of Islamic banking profit sharing makes the risk of loss smaller than deposit interest, but this high profit share still cannot provide a large influence on the economy. The reason is people still choose bank interest because the negative implications of the bank interest system are not felt directly individually in the near future by the public

  This paper aims at describing the implications of the theory of mixing and its products towards Islamic banking and Islamic financial institutions. A qualitative research methods with a descriptive approach was implemented in this study. The object of the current study was Sub-Branch Office (KCP) of the Syariah Mandiri Bank in Sumenep Regency. The results of this study indicated that the products of the Syariah Mandiri Bank KCP Sumenep in terms of the Musharaka financing contract consists of Musharaka mutanaqishah and musharaka of network capital. Musharaka mutanaqisha is applied in home financing in which the profits are obtained from the margin agreed by all parties. While, the musharaka of network capital uses a profit sharing system in which the profits are calculated through a revenue sharing system. In terms of juridical law, the Syariah Mandiri bank KCP Sumenep has followed the rules stated in the Sharia banking law of 2008 as well as in the fatwa of the National Sharia Board. Whereas, in the case of the application of musharaka accounting that has been regulated in International Financial Report Standard (PSAK), Sharia Mandiri Bank KCP Sumenep has accordingly applied the contract accounting of musharaka as regulated in PSAK 106. However, in terms of account recording (estimation), Islamic banks have not obeyed the rules stated in PSAK 106. Furthermore, this study concludes that there are still many customers who do not understand the contract of mudharabah at Syariah Mandiri Bank KCP Sumenep. It due to the lack of socialization from the banks to the public. In juridical perspective, the Sharia Mandiri Bank KCP Sumenep do not implements mudharabah contract based on fatwa of the National Sharia Board and do not apply the accounting based on PSAK 105. Therefore, it is categorized as Islamic/ sharia financial engineering.

The popularity of Islamic banking is increasing day by day. On the other hand, some people also criticized this system in some aspect. One of the criticism is that profit sharing rates of Islamic banks are similar to interest rate of deposit banks. While considering this issue, this study aims to identify the causality relationship between profit sharing rate and interest rate in Turkey. Within this scope, monthly, quarterly, 6-months and yearly data for the period between 2000 and 2016 was analyzed separately. In addition to this situation, Toda Yamamoto causality analysis was used in this study so as to achieve this objective. According to the results of the analysis, it was determined that there is a significant causality relationship between these rates. In other words, it was concluded that interest rate of the deposit banks is the main indicator of the profit share rate of Islamic banks in Turkey. The main reason behind this situation is that indicators in the market affect both deposit banks and Islamic banks. Therefore, it is inevitable that deposit rates and profit share rates will be similar when deposit banks and Islamic banks perform in the same market.

At present Islamic banking is growing rapidly, along with these developments various types of Islamic Bank products are also growing, where product innovation is the key to Islamic banking to be more competitive and more rapidly developed in accordance with the needs of the community. Product development strategies are one aspect of a marketing strategy. Banking product development is an effort to increase customers by introducing new banking products. The strategy of developing banking products is an effort to increase the number of customers by developing or introducing new banking products. Innovation and creativity in product creation are one of the main keys in this strategy. In general, every Islamic bank in running its business has five operational principles, namely as follows: Principles of pure savings, the principle of profit sharing, the principle of buying and selling, the principle of rent, and the principle of service (fee). Product development strategies are part of a corporate strategy. Islamic banks provide many options for the community to obtain financing that does not only depend on one type of bank with its products, if Islamic banks are able to read the potential of the region and the needs of the population is owned by Islamic banking, the development of Islamic banking products is a necessity for Islamic banks those in the region to be able to answer the needs of the community. This condition can occur can not be separated from the support of DPS who must be active and innovative and be with each bank in the area. As well as product marketing strategies must be carried out by conducting strategic alliances with mass media (radio, television and print media) and event organizers in the form of exhibitions (expo), so that these products are widely known and directly felt by the public at large. In certain expos such as people can directly register for sharia credit cards or make financing requests for the purchase of sharia products that are on display. Through this strategy Islamic banks can get a lot of success, both in increasing portfolios and marketing new products.

This study aims to examine the effect of knowledge, promotion, and religiosity on the interest in using Islamic banking services. The purpose of the next research is to examine the effect of knowledge on religiosity. In addition, this study also examines the effect of educational background and age on saving interest in Islamic banks. The population in this study are customers of Bank Syariah Mandiri, Brebes, Central Java, Indonesia. Ninety-nine research samples were obtained. The data collection method used was questionnaires. The data analysis method used was SEM-PLS. The results showed that only promotion proved to have a positive and significant effect on interest in using the services of Islamic banks. Knowledge and religiosity have not been proven to have a significant effect on interest in using services of Islamic banks. Likewise, background and gender do not have a significant effect. The next research result is that there is a positive and significant influence of knowledge on religiosity; there is also a positive and significant influence on the promotion of knowledge. This study recommends the importance of continuing socialization and education from Islamic banking stakeholders in Indonesia to continue introducing Islamic banks to the public.

<p><em>Islamic banking is based on profit and loss mechanism where the use of interest is prohibited.  Unlike conventional banks, these banks do not charge a specific rate of interest, rather provides financing in exchange for profit sharing.  However, there are studies claiming that, in practice, Islamic banking is same as conventional banking with regard to the use of interest. It is also claimed that, Islamic deposits are not interest-free, but are closely attached to conventional deposits.  On this background, the objective of this study is to examine the relationship between pricing in Islamic banks vis-à-vis conventional banks by taking the case of Bangladesh. We have used monthly data during the period of 2009-2013. The findings of the study showed that, there is no statistically significant difference between the monthly average lending rates of Islamic banks and conventional banks. However, there is significant difference between deposit rates. The existence of causal relationship was inconclusive, and requires further analysis.</em></p>

Islamic Commercial Banking in Indonesia generally has not fully carry out business activities in accordance with sharia provisions. Therefore, there is a need for a performance measurement tool that is able to express spiritual and social values embodied in Islamic banks. The purpose of this study is to describe the performance of Islamic banking based on Islamicity Performance Index. This research is a quantitative research using descriptive analysis. The data used in this research is secondary data. The study population was Islamic banks in Indonesia during the period 2015-2019, with a sample of twelve banks. Sampling was done by using purposive sampling method. The results showed Panin Dubai Sharia Bank was the best bank in the Profit Sharing Ratio (PSR) indicator. The value of Zakat Performance Ratio (ZPR) in Islamic banking in Indonesia is still low. BNI Sharia is the bank with the highest average value for the ZPR indicator. Equitable Distribution Ratio (EDR) indicates that Mandiri Sharia Bank has the highest average value. Directors-Employees Welfare Ratio (DEWR) shows that BTPN Sharia have fairly high levels of disparity between directors and employees. IIR and IsIR shows  that in general Islamic commercial banks in Indonesia have carried out businesss performance in the halal sector. Meanwhile, overall, it received a satisfactory predicate. This research is expected to be taken into consideration for the related institutions to apply the performance measurement of Islamic Commercial Banking in accordance with the concept of Islamicity Performance Index, and be taken into consideration in taking policy measures in accordance with the concept of sharia that will be used in the future.

The central feature characterizing the financial Islamic system is the absolute prohibition of the payment and receipt of fixed interest in any transaction. Theoretically, Islamic Banking operates on the basis of Profit Loss Sharing (Mudaraba and Musharaka). In Lebanon the balance sheet of Islamic banks appear that, the percentage of PLS financing is very weak. The lack of profit and loss sharing (PLS) financing is an important problem affecting Islamic banks in Lebanon. The main objective of this research is to analyze problems faced by Islamic banks in Lebanon to use the PLS contract. The type of PLS contract raises a set of issues concerning the contractual relations between the Islamic bank and the clients. These issues may be addressed from the perspectives of Agency Theory, as we will do in this paper.

Bank Negara Malaysia (BNM) had introduced Value-Based Intermediation (VBI) initiatives to help Islamic banks implement a structuralised form of maqasid al-shariah (objectives of shariah (Islamic law)) in their banking operations. Thus, questions were raised by the public on whether or not Islamic banking institutions in Malaysia had been achieving maqasid al-shariah in their banking operations prior to VBI. This paper aims to discuss the real concept of maqasid al-shariah that should be realised in Islamic banks and investigate whether Islamic banks had truly been achieving maqasid al-shariah in their banking operations before the introduction of VBI. Library research is conducted to obtain information on maqasid al-shariah and the qualitative methodology is adopted to gain information from three bankers representing three Islamic banks in Malaysia via semi-structured interviews. The researchers found that the fundamental concept of maqasid al-shariah in Islamic banks includes the protection of religion, life, intellect, progeny and wealth in human life through the products and services offered by the banks. The Islamic banks were found to have developed their products and services to achieve maqasid al-shariah even before VBI was introduced by BNM. However, with VBI, a proper framework in achieving maqasid al-shariah has been developed.

Abstract– This study aims to examine and analyze the effect of religiosity, profit sharing and service on interest in saving at the Surakarta Islamic Bank. The benefits that are expected to increase and provide knowledge related to the influence of religiosity, profit sharing and services on the interest in saving at the Surakarta Islamic Bank, can be used as material for community consideration and Islamic banking management to develop the role of Islamic banking and marketing strategies in Surakarta. The sampling technique was using purposive sampling technique. The population and sample in this study were 71 people who fit the specified criteria. The data were processed using SPSS, the tests carried out included instrument tests, classical assumption tests and multiple linear regression tests. The conclusion in this study is that religiosity has an effect on the interest in saving in Islamic banks in Surakarta. Profit sharing affects the interest in saving in Islamic banks in Surakarta. Services affect the interest in saving at a syariah bank in Surakarta.     Abstrak– Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menguji dan menganalisis pengaruh religiusitas, bagi hasil dan pelayanan terhadap minat menabung di Bank Syariah Surakarta. Manfaat yang diharapkan dapat menambah dan memberikan pengetahuan yang berkaitan dengan pengaruh religiusitas, bagi hasil dan pelayanan terhadap minat menabung di Bank Syariah Surakarta, dapat digunakan sebagai bahan pertimbangan masyarakat dan manajemen perbankan syariah untuk mengembangkan peranan perbankan syariah dan strategi marketing di Kota Surakarta. Teknik pengambilan sampel menggunakan teknik purposive sampling. Populasi dan sampel dalam penelitian ini adalah 71 orang yang sesuai dengan kriteria yang ditentukan. Data diolah menggunakan SPSS , pengujian yang dilakukan meliputi uji instrumen, uji asumsi klasik dan uji regresi linier berganda. Kesimpulan dalam penelitian ini adalah religiusitas berpengaruh terhadap minat menabung di bank syariah surakarta. Bagi hasil berpengaruh terhadap minat menabung di bank syariah surakarta. Pelayanan berpengaruh terhadap minat menabung di bank syariah surakarta.

Unlike the conventional interest-base bank, the Islamic banks use both equity financing with profit sharing and debt-like financing with mark-up, ad at the funding side they use both investment scheme with revenue sharing and deposit scheme with rewards. The conventional bank use debt financing with interest and at the funding side use the deposit scheme with interest as well. The optimality of the two banking systems will be tested to determine which one is more optimal in terms of the wealth of the bank shareholder, the welfare of the entrepreneur, and the welfare of the depositors.Using a multiperiod static optimization approach, the results shows that in the interest-based banking is more optimal in terms of the shareholder wealth and the depositor’s welfare, while the Islamic banking is more optimal in terms of the entrepreneur welfare.Keywords : sistem perbankan, bank syariah, bunga, bagi hasil, mudharabah, wadi'ahJEL Classification : G21, P51
