ABSTRACK Low birth weight (LBW) is a baby with a birth weight of less than 2500 grams. WHO estimates that almost all (98%) of 5 million neonatal deaths occur in developing countries. According to Palembang city health office data, the birth rate of LBW in 2008 was 213 per 1,000 live births and in 2009 as many as 203 per 1,000 live births. The causes of LBW are premature birth, maternal parity, maternal age, placental factors, fetal factors and the environment. This study aims to determine the relationship of mother parity with the occurrence of LBW at Pusri Palembang Hospital Year 2017. The design of this study is an analytical survey with cross sectional approach where the variables studied include parity of the mother. The population of this study were all maternal mothers at Pusri Palembang Hospital in 2017, which amounted to 553 people with a large sample of 240 samples taken by systematic random technique, research instrument that is check list. Data analysis was done univariat and bivariate. The results of this study showed that from 240 mothers, there was an occurrence of BBLR 142 people (59.2%) who had high risk parity of 32 people with LBW incidence (87.5%) while the high risk maternal age was 123 people with LBW incidence (51, 2% ). From Chi-Square test statistic that compare p value with significance level α = 0,05 indicate that there is significant relation between mother parity p value (0,00) with incidence of BBLR at Pusri Palembang Hospital 2017. From this research result it was concluded that mothers with parity and high risk were more likely to deliver babies with LBW than low risk.

ABSTRACT Low Birth Weight (LBW) was defined as infants born weighing less than 2.500 grams. WHO estimates that nearly all (98%) of the five million neonatal deaths in developing countries. According to City Health if Palembang Departement, infant mortality rate (IMR) in the year 2007 is 3 per 1000 live births, in 2008 four per 1000 live births, and in 2009 approximately 2 per 1000 live births. The cause of LBW is a disease, maternal age, social circumstances, maternal habits factors, fetal factors and environmental factors. LBW prognosis depending on the severity of the perinatal period such as stage of gestation (gestation getting younger or lower the baby's weight, the higher the mortality), asphyxia / ischemia brain, respiratory distress syndromesmetabolic disturbances. This study aims to determine the relationship between maternal age and educations mothers of pregnancy with the incidence of LBW in the General Hospital Dr Center. Mohammad Hoesin Palembang in 2010 This study uses the Analytical Ceoss Sectional Survey. The study population was all mothers who gave birth in public hospitals center Dr. Mohammad Hoesin Palembang in 2010 were 1.476 mothers gave birth with a large sample of 94 studies of maternal taken by systematic random sampling, ie research instument Check List. Data analysis was performed univariate and bivariate. The results of this study show from 94 mothers of LBW was found 45 people (47,9%) Which has a high risk age 26 LBW ( 27,7%) while the distance of low educations LBW (55,3%). From Chi-Square test statistic that compares the p value with significance level α = 0,05 showed a significant correlation between maternal age, where the p value = 0,002, of education mothers of pregnancy p value = 0,003 with LBW. In the general hospital center Dr. Mohammad Hoesin Palembang ini 2010. Expected to researches who will come to examine in more depth. ABSTRACT [Low birth weight is still a problem in Indonesia, because it is a major cause of death in the neonatal period. Based on data from the World Health Organization in 2003 estimated neonates each year about 20 million are born low birth weight. Based on results of the Basic Health Research in 2007 prevalence of low birth weight in Indonesia was 11.5%. In South Sumatra Province the IMR in 2012 was 29 per 1,000 live births, the IMR in Palembang in 2012 there were 97 infant deaths of 29. 451 live births, one of the causes of infant mortality was low birth weight. In the Muhammaddiyah Palembang hospital low birth weight in 2013obtained as many as 151 cases. The purpose of this study was to determine the relationship of maternal age, parity, education and work by simultaneously newborns with low birth weight. The design of this research is an analytic survey with cross sectional approach and applied by retrospectively. The population in this study were all mothers of normal birth at term gestation at Muhammadiyah Palembang hospital in 2013 as 2215. The sample are 339 respondents. In this study conducted univariate, bivariate and multivariate analyzes. From the analysis we found no association between maternal age with low birth weight (P Value = 0.043, OR = 0.551), no relationship between parity and low birth weight (P Value = 0.034, OR = 0.484), no relation between education and low birth weight (P Value = 0.020, OR = 0.998), no relationship between work maternity and low birth weight (P Value = 0.049, OR = 0.500). The most dominant variable is the maternity age. It is suggested to the leadership of Muhammadiyah Palembang hospital is expected to be able to further improve health care programs such as counseling about the importance of prenatal care, nutrition and nutritional needs during pregnancy that can detect early complications in pregnancy to prevent low birth weight.
